Can't Place Designer File in Publisher

Hi, I'm trying to place a logo I made in Designer into a Publisher file. I click File > Place > and select the file and nothing happens. I don't get an error message. Nothing. I tried reducing the file to only one artboard (because I recall there being an issue with multiple artboards) and tried placing that new file. Still no response. What am I doing wrong?

Place image in publisher UI

Hello I am a bit confused on a "place image" UI when I bring in some image it add a panel called Place images on the right Now I have import all ±100 photos I want to used for my photobook design and the minute I click on another tool the panel with all the images disappears How do I get it back I can't find it anywhere in the menus is this by design or am I just blind ?
