  1. I just found out that it is possible to Drag and Drop Pictures directly from the Browser to an Affinity Designer's Document, which I find perfect for quick working and brainstorming. My question is - since the picutres are not linked - are they then embedded in the doc and the docs size will increase the more pictures I drop there? Since pictures from the net are relatively small (in Data-Size) it shouldn't be a big thing to have - lets say 100 oder 200 pictures dropped in? The document also does not become buggy from it, right? Does anybody have insight on that? Would be helpful. Thanks in Advance! Roya
  2. I'm putting together a small book of photographs and as a newcomer to Publisher I'm not sure what are considered best practices for working with images. I can give an image a border (a thin rule) whether or not it's in a frame. Then again, I can't seem to assign a style via the Styles palette (specifying a particular rule width and color) to images lacking frames. Using the Styles palette is pretty quick and the results are predictable. I could be missing something here. There might be situations I haven't encountered in which not having a frame would cause problems in the future. What might they be? On the other hand, is using an image frame simply overkill a lot of the time? (If I want to lock the image "in the raw," that's one command within the Layers palette. But if it has a frame, I have to lock the frame and image separately ... somewhat irritating that there's no option to lock both at once as it doesn't seem possible to select both at the same time...or, is it?)
  3. The problem I face was that I couldn't place chosen pictures in placeholders on a spread: I applied Master B to page 2 and Master C on page 3. Then I chose 7 pictures, all TIF in this case, to be placed to each of the placeholder in the spread. The result is that I can’t place the pictures in either of the placeholders on page 2, but on page 3 I can. I repeated the same thing, but with smaller jpg pictures. The result was the same. Now, if I apply Master B or Master C to an entire spread, all pictures are placeable. It seems though that a combination of 2 master pages on the same spread causes the issue. 4. After I insert a picture in Publisher it looses quality considerably. I tried different sizes and quality. All give the same result. After exporting to PDF the pictures looks pretty bad (ragged borders etc.) I may be doing something wrong but do not know what. How to control that? Can anybody help? Sonny32
  5. For some strange reason I cannot move the images or resize them when in Affinity Designer. Is not the first time it happens. I tried to paste an image from Affinity Photo and them when I paste it in A-Designer it didn't appear, then I was trying to move the rest of the images and was impossible (you can see the image of the afro woman, I was truing to drag it and couldn't, the move tool was creating a selection rectangle like if the image didn't existed or was blocked which it wasn't but the weirdest thing is that you could see the limits of the picture. This only happens with bitmap layers since with vectors is all normal.
  6. I'm new to Affinity and like what I see. This may be a dumb question, but being used to Aperture and then Photos, I could import a card full of images and then work on them one at a time. I have tried selecting multiple images and it just never finishes. I have only been able to do one at a time. Running V1.4.1 Appreciate any help or direction on this. Not successful searching forums and the help files. Thanks, :)
  7. Moin, Is there an easier way to archive the result shown below? The effect (blur) should only affect a part of the picture. It should work dynamically so you don’t must update the image manually and get problems with the alignment. If there is no other way - can you please implement symbols to Publisher? I had to create a symbol in Designer and copy & paste it to Pub. The feature would also make it a lot easier to mask out parts from a background and bring them on top over some text... but it would work that easy because you still have to adjust the mask after moving the picture... we probably need another solution for this. --- (just noticed it now... u can keep the second "t" maybe u can use it la[ ]er) Lg Marc Henry dynamic pictures.afpub
  8. Hello, In a file which worked perfectly yesterday I have today some png pictures who appear blurred in the software and also when I export. Any idea of why ? Thank you for your help (I'm French sorry if my english is not perfect)
  9. Hi, i am searching for any option to reset any squeezed or transformed picture to its original aspect ratio and to scale pictures numeric in %. while the rotation can be set to zero in the Transform Studio there is nothing like "Reset X/Y to 100%". The four different scale-options in the Pictureframe Properties don´t reset to the original aspect ratio of the file once the content is distorted. When working with files like floor plans, it is necessary to make exact changes like: 25% back to 75% etc. there should be deninitly x% and y% in the Transform Studio. I would like to have the option "Reset X/Y to 100%" at the image properties or some easy way to reset distorted images with a click thanks!
  10. I am new in Affinity Designer, coming from Adobe Illustrator. When I place a picture/file in Illustrator, I have a links panel where I can see all placed files and their properties. Like path to the original file, solution in DPI, colorprofile of a picture, the actual solution and whether they are imbedded, linked or missing. Do I have equal in Affinity? Wher can I sfind out the properties of a placed picture?
  11. Hi, I can’t find “The facility to specify precision for readout of angles has been added in Preferences” in preferences. Linking/embeding pictures option should be located in “Preferences” instead in “New”. “Paragraph decorations” and “Paragraph shading” should exclude each other in same decoration style. Add ability to reposition master objects on individual working pages and change their attributes (as in Quark). In "Text > Insert" only "Spaces and Tabs" shows the flyout panel correctly (on the right side). All others flyouts are on the left. (See attachment).
  12. Hi I'm new to affinity and I'm a home designer without much skill. I know the basics of Affinity Designer. Please can anyone help show me how to replicate picture 1 using picture 2. I came across picture 1 on the internet and loved the way it hazes out (or fades out) on the left hand side. I can see the picture has been extended and then hazed (or faded out) to make it look like one long picture and I'm trying to do the same with picture 2. I am sure that it would be quite easy for someone who knows their way around Affinity Designer so I am reaching out to the forum in hope that you can help show me what to do, I really appreciate you taking the time to read this post. David
  13. Hi, I was just surfing youtube yesterday and I came across a video by Sean Tucker: At 7:50, Sean uses hue saturation and lumance sliders to edit inividual colours in his image. I was wondering if you can do this in affinity photo. I am interested in buying it soon so any answer will help me in making my decision. Thanks, Jayvin.
  14. Affinity Photo (Version 1.5.2) - April 27, 2017 Hello, We would like to build a Macro that includes different layers to build some sort of 3D image impressions including a separate background. Below you'll find the exact steps we've taken so far: A. MACRO PROCESSING 1) Drag and drop a .jpg image into Affinity Photo 2) Activate Macro 3) Document --> Resize Document to 560px x 395px, Units: Pixels, DPI: 450, Resample: Bilinear, Resample activated/ticked --> Resize 4) Document --> Resize Canvas --> 640px x 640px, Units: Pixels, Anchor: Center --> Resize 5) Click on image with cursor/arrow --> Document --> Flatten 6) Transform --> S: -3 Degrees 7) C&P image, switch to last layer and Transform --> S: +3 Degrees 8) Move edited image (of last/lowest layer) accordingly and enter H-Value with a Delta of -20px 9) Effects --> Gradient Overlay 10) Layer --> New Layer --> Arrange --> Move to Back 11) Choose Flood Fill Tool --> Click into empty area --> Effects --> Gradient Overlay --> Type: Radial 12) Document --> Flatten 13) Stop Recording Macro 14) Add To Library --> Enter Macro name and hit OK --> Don't save the document B. BATCH PROCESSING 1) File --> New Batch Job process and choose "Save as JPEG" While the above steps (1 – 14) work perfectly fine when doing everything manually in Affinity Photo, it doesn't so when executed via Macro. To see the difference between Manual vs. Macro refer to the ZIP-Attachment below. C. QUESTION How can we build a Macro so that the final image looks EXACTLY like the one shown under manual conditions? Thanks, Pat Macro.zip
  15. Hi, I'm not sure if anyone will read this request, because there are so many in this forum. I´d like to see the possibility to create an artwork over several artboards (instead of slicing) for commercial print. I use it in Illustrator for large banners with best control over the pages side by side, with all the necessary marks on it. Will such a feature be possible in later versions? If so, AD will be the one and only. :)
  16. This may be the dumbest question you answer all day/year/century, but I'm new to Affinity -- and, really, the whole photoshop/design world. Without further ado, here it is: Is a hot dog a sandwich? In Affinity Designer, how do I place a picture into a (badass) shape I've created? Any help is much appreciated!
  17. hi after loading a series of pictures either with "cmd O" or "media browser" they are displayed only as filenames. now i could barely live with this. but the files are in complete disorder. the pics in the source are organized after date and file name. why are they in aphoto not sorted? how can i sort them? thanks a lot.
  18. Hi, I am a newby but need to combine two pictures in the attachment. Both pictures need be as they are but between them should be a seamless transition. Can someone tell be how to do this? I couldn't find a post that covered this previously. Thanks! seaside
  19. There is a feature that I use regularly in freehand and illustrator and is able to make a path already double the time to increase positively or negatively. is often used to outline objects, texts etc ... in freehand in one step, and then you do conseguias marcabas a negative or positive value and the path is towards outward or inward. Can you do this in AD? as? Is there a control panel that efforts pictures we have in the document? if they are embedded, if they are RGB or CMYK etc ... Thanks.
  20. Greetings All. I am asking for a little advice in creating a simple (for someone, not me just yet) photo collage consisting of 4 images. Two on top and two below - that type of thing. I am using images that are currently in RAW format. Any advice & help is much appreciated. Gordy.
