  1. Drag from color picker tool to a color with pixel brush selected does not updates brush color. Is this a bug? Also that is the fastest way to pick a color for pixel brush? ( Currently i click color button at the bottom than drag from color picker of opened menu into canvas, but it is 2 step process.
  2. I’m struggling with pixel persona in Designer on iPad as I keep triggering a gesture shortcut that brings up the colour picker loop when using the brush tool. This means I regularly sample new colours by accident and then have to manually revert to the colour I was using before. I can’t quite work out what combination or sequence of gestures I am performing!! It seems to involve brief taps with 2 fingers, usually when I’m trying to rotate the canvas, but I can’t work out a consistent combo. help please!!
  3. Hi all, If I try to modify the HSL control points on a 32 bit image in the blue channel for example to green, nothing happens, I have to click on the green channel in order to see the greens affected...(is better a video than words). Everything seems to work fine if I convert the 32 bit image into a 8 bit one. I'm attaching the sample file. Cheers, Juan HSL_32_bit.zip
  4. Although the range of picker types you have is quite wonderful, I'm used to working with HSB/V (Brightness or Value) instead of HSL (for lightness.) It's a common way of specifying colors especially in the land of video. HSL is a similar user experience, but there are a lot of times where it just makes sense to think of 100% brightness (which, to get the same RGB value, somehow works out to 50% lightness.) (And as you probably know, Adobe Photoshop's picker has HSB, not HSL.) This website does a great job of dynamically showing the difference: http://colorizer.org Would you consider adding this option to Designer/Photo/Photo for iPad? Thanks.
  5. Hello DEVs First off, thanks again for great software, I've been sending ~250 portraits through it since I bought it, and I love how the application just simply replaced Photoshop Over to my "needs".. I really need some features from PS days, and I hope you guys see why. "Apply Image" in Affinity Photo is not alike PS CC's version of it. I used to use this often to grab an RGB, R, G or B. CMYK or C, M, Y, K or even LAB L, A or B from a layer, a document or a file on the disk, then "apply" it as a mask - inverted or not - on to the selected mask, usually in normal or luminosity mode. I even use it for blending K channel from a dublicate CMYK document in to actual documents RGB composite to enhance faint details which is almost lost. I also use it to mix one of the RGB channels from same document in to the worst channel to enhance the details and remove noise (usually B channel), its called luminosity blending, check out Lee Varis and Dan Margulis photoshop videos. I don't see this is possible in Affinity Photo with the current "apply image", and I wish I had the same blending options in it like default layers so it will be easy to fix a "bad" channel in a image Check video below in this post. I also wish I could set one of the info readouts to a default readout, LAB for example, because I use this more often than RGB or anything else. Left side could be document format. I can change to LAB right now, but it doesnt stick to next image. I love to be able to save my own defaults than white and gra. Every single time I use this I have to go and manually set left one to black and right to white anyway because I rarly use this on other things than masks. It is really annoying After pushing through those 250 portraits since I bought Affinity, I'm really getting tired to recheck "current and below", I never retouch on background or main pixel layers and wouldn't suggest anyone to do it either. Make a new layer then use the healing brush with "current and below" is the safest way to use it anyway, so could it be possible to have persistent settings on these as-well? Check next 5 minutes to see what I mean of luminosity blending: Thats all for now Best regards, Aleksander
  6. Hello, What happened to the feature on Ipad that color picker appears when I press the pen 2sec on the screen? It was really useful in my workflow for blending colours... How can I pick/blend colors in the easiest and most efficient way now? Thanks, N.
  7. Hi all, I'm assuming I'm missing something really simple, but how do you dismiss, or let go of certain sub-tools? Two examples: If I activate the Crop tool, then choose its Straighten tool, then decide that a don't want the Straighten tool after all (for example, I decide to just straighten the image by grabbing a corner and rotating manually), I can't (or surely don't see how to) un-choose the Straighten tool. It seems like the only thing I can do is to cancel the entire operation. Same thing with the Picker in a Curves adjustment layer. Once I've clicked on the Picker, I can't get rid of it without closing the layer completely. I've tried re-clicking the sub-tool, hitting the Escape key, hitting the Delete key (don't do that)... What am I missing? How do you "let go" of these sub-tools without closing the parent tool?
  8. Hey everyone! In the top right corner, the color picker can be dragged to increase and decrease brightness. Personally, I am disabling the UI a lot (button next to color picker) and it would be helpful if there was an option to disable this feature to prevent unintentional color change. Best wishes, Shu
  9. Windows 10 - Publisher 1.7.0.139 I've tried three documents - two from previous versions of APu, one new document - and the colour picker - on the Swatches panel - isn't picking up colours from the document canvas; it always comes back with 0,0,0. It picks colours from the UI and other Windows apps, just not within the document canvas itself. Doesn't matter is anything is selected or not. Although, I have noticed that the colour picker on the Colour Chooser palette does work, and the picked colour is transferred to the Swatches colour picker. Edit: Actually, that's stopped working now too. Another thing I noticed is that the CMYK of the RGB 0,0,0 that is picked shows in the Colour Chooser as 72, 68, 67, 88. I don't know if this is meaningful.
  10. Hey guys, Thought I'd share this here in case anyone else has experienced this. In Affinity Designer (v1.6.5.123 windows 10), my colour picker (when dragging from the tool above the colour palette area) starts to slow down the longer a document remains open. The dedicated colour picker tool from the left-hand toolbar remains unaffected, only the drag and drop style one experiences the lag. It's smooth and responsive when exiting and reopening Designer. Designer is currently sitting at 700mb memory usage and my machine has 16GB. None of my other resources are capping out when I perform the action (i5 6600, 16GB RAM, GTX 970). I haven't necessarily timed how long it takes for the lag to start occurring but it's probably around the hour mark. If I open a new document the lag is still there until a restart Designer. It's not the end of the world, just something that the devs might want to try reproducing!
  11. Hi, It would be really helpful if you guys add the Eye-dropper to the color picker panel of the Lens Filter adjustment layer. Thanks!

    Submenu Color Pickers not working

As I understand it, the Pencil Tool color picker chooses whatever color it’s hovering over and makes it the color for all future lines. Same goes with the fill portion of the Pencil Tool menu. Neither of these Color Pickers seem to have a visual effect on the color swatches in the menu, but do ultimately affect the fill of any objects drawn. Am I missing something, or is the Color Picker? 13. Pen and colour picker no function works with finger only. this is while in designer as of 9th August 2018
  14. Hey guys, It would be great if we could have the HEX value input text on all color examples. For instance, when you create a shape, in the top bar properties panel you have the fill color and stroke color, and you have all sorts of color pickers (hue, rgb sliders, hsl color scheme, etc), but only the HEX SLIDERS picker contains the actual input field for the HEX code. It would be great if all these color pickers would contain the hex color code, in UI design this is used a lot Thank you for a great product I am very grateful.
  15. I purchased Affinity at the Mac App Store yesterday and I am enjoying it greatly. I haven't been able, however, to activate or enable the picker on a curves panel. Is there a setting I have missed in the preferences or a particular keyboard shortcut? I watched a video where someone clicks on the picker and then on he image in order to place nodes in the curves adjustment. In my case this process is not working, I am unable to place nodes on the curves panel. Thanks for your help.
  16. Hi, I'm writing to suggest that a search box be shown anytime a pantone swatch picker is displayed. The picker is virtually useless without the ability to type a PMS number. Surprising that it's is not shown by default, and more surprising that it's sometimes not even available as an option. Would be a welcome addition. Thanks! Cleay.
  17. Since the digital industry is moving away from sRGB to a wider HDR style color profile, it would be nice to have some sort of color boundary line on the color wheel selector tool to let us know what colors are inside/outside of the sRGB color spectrum when using a HDR color profile. This might be good for CMYK as well. Perhaps use an actual color profile as a color selector option...

    Color Picker Off Center

Not sure if this is a bug or a feature, so apologies if I've posted this in the wrong forum. When using the paint brush and selecting color (by holding a finger on the screen until the color picker wheel appears), the color sampling appears to be off center. It is selecting the color from the bottom of the color picker wheel rather than from the center. When choosing a color by selecting the color wheel palette eye dropper tool, the color picker wheel behaves as I would expect it to, as in the color sampled is in the center of where the wheel is positioned. ive attached some screen shots to demonstrate. IMG_0560 shows the image to be sampled (there is a small red dot to the left of the color wheel I am trying to sample). IMG_0563 shows the color wheel directly over the red dot when sampling color using the brush tool. There is no red sampled in the color wheel. IMG_0562 shows the color wheel positioned above the red dot when sampling the color using the brush tool. The bottom of the color wheel is touching the red dot and is sampling the color, but it's off center. IMG_0564 shows the color wheel directly over the red dot using the eye dropper tool in the color wheel palette. Here the color wheel sampler is behaving as I would expect because it is sampling the red that is centered directly beneath it. is this a bug or designed to be this way or maybe some setting I have wrong?
  19. Hello This is my first post here. I just bought Affinity Photo for iPad and the first thing I tried to do I can't seem to do. I want to use a brush and select a color from the photo. I have the brush tool and see the color picker but cannot see a way of getting the color from the photo. Also I have no idea what the little circular tools are next to the color picker. Is there a manual? Cheers. Martin
  20. Hello, is there option or could You add such that it will allow to get picker average color from selection? Greetings, Mike
  21. Hi, In my work I use a color checker ( grey18%) and I need to set the white balance through the color picker ( by selecting the color checker in the first image of the shooting). thanks!
  22. Hi everyone, From my personal research I couldn't find anything with my problem. If i happened to overlook it, i'd appreciate a link! Having two issues, but they're related: Having problems with the color picker on affinity designer. In photo, color picker works fine. But in designer, it always picks a lighter color for some reason. Even when I get a hex code from my friend, and input it into designer, it always shows a much lighter color. Then when I export, previewing the image shows the same color as in designer (the lighter-than-original color). But when i import it into After Effects, it shows the original color (what the hex code is supposed to be). Or when I try to e-mail it, it shows as the original color as well. Not sure if it's a bug or a setting. But here's what I have in color profile: RBC Color profile: sRBG 32-bit RBG Color profile: SRBG CMYK Color profile: U.S. Web Coated Gray scale color profile: Grayscale D50 LAB color profile: CIELAB D50 Rendering intent: Perceptual I don't know any other way to adjust color settings in this program. But in my google search I can only find a few solutions for Illustrator, which is often to adjust the CMYK setting to RBG. But I don't see that kind of setting change in Designer so I'm not sure what the problem is. I don't recall making any adjustments to the settings, and I want to say I've never had this problem before the latest update (which i postponed until recently). Thanks for your help!
  23. Good morning everyone. I'm not hundred percent sure this is a bug, but at least, it acts exactly like if it was for me. I'll probably fill an Apple Bug Report, in case it's Apple fault, but if so, I'm sure you guys would have more chances to get listened by Apple doing your own. Here's the situation, I like to use the Apple Color Picker, because I can create per client color palettes. So whatever application I'm using to create something for my client, I can call the Apple Picker and get my clients colors from it. I've notice that when I'm using it, my selected and applied colors get their values changed on Affinity. How to reproduce: • Create a new Affinity Designer document, and set it to RBG/sRGB IEC61966-2.1 space color. • Create a new shape and set it's fill color to 216, 0, 16 • Unselect the shape! • Open the Apple Color Picker, go to Color Slider tab. Choose RGB Sliders and (important), on the little gear at the right of the dropdown, choose sRBG so your color will be defined as this (from my understanding). Choose 216, 0, 16 • Switch to Color Palettes tab and add you newly created color • Select back your previously created shape and by looking to the RBG Sliders of Affinity, clic your saved color on the Apple Color Picker. Bam, colors have been changed to 204, 0, 15, which are the values in Generic RBG space. Any light to bright my issue? As always, thanks for the support.
  24. Can you please post a beginning-to-end video of the various processes for developing/editing a RAW photo of the milky way? There are many photoshop instructional tutorials for this process, but I can find none for Affinity Photo. I much prefer to use Affinity, and I'm still somewhat inexperienced with photo editing in general. I want to invest my time in learning Affinity directly, rather than learning photoshop and then translating that experience to Affinity. Thank you for your help. I am attaching a amazon cloud link (the file is too large to upload here, 27MB) to a RAW file for you to use in a tutorial, should you agree to help. I voluntarily relinquish all rights to the linked photo. It is now public domain. https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/ELVNzIxUzNWFk1twdvVOaHCkD0xWV24wuMhGgUGldRR?ref_=cd_ph_share_link_copy Thank you James
  25. The color picker in the color pallete doesn't appear to change any actual values in the color pallete when used in Designer. It also doesn't appear to work in the gradient fill when choosing a color for one of the spans.
