  1. Can someone explain why does Photos 2.2 messes up the colours when i make a change to the image and SAVE rather than EXPORT with this JPEG? In some other image, it adds a green background and pixelate it.
  2. HI there, One feature Photoshop has which I really miss in Affinity Photo is the ability to extract the images from a PDF. Often clients supply a PDF, which contains images that you might want to use without the text over the top, or cropped differently. If you could import the original image, it will be more usable in other projects. Thanks Andy
  3. Affinity Photos app keeps crashing when: importing photos from the Photos app Placing photo in a document App just closes itself. Also gives a null error when importing directly. iPad Pro 10.5, Affinity Photo 2.2.0.2005, 17.0.2
  4. Could someone at affinity please send an update on why the ability to open a raw file from Apple photos app on iPad M1 Pro no longer works in v2.1? It worked in the previous version so surely it’s not too difficult to compare the coding.
  5. Affinity Photo v2 iPad Version - Beginners Guide to using Drag and Drop and the Place Command The tutorial starts off with a look at the Embedded and Linked Placement Policy, plus using the Resource Manager check and alter the Placement Policy of files. The actual tutorial starts by looking at how to drag and drop single and multiple files from the iPad’s File and Picture Folders, plus from a web page. Then a look at using the Place Command to do the same thing. Lastly a look at using the Place Command while using a Photoshop PSD Mock-Up file. 6. If you add a Catalog Tool to Photos it would be the last piece of Software i need. Then i could do all my Work with Affinity.
  7. I have noticed that the photo browser inside the apps is very slow to open anything. Compared to Pixelmator Pro, it opens up instantly, -all photos with albums, favorites, and recents. I think that this is an area that desperately needs improvement.
  8. I’m fairly new to Affinity Photo, still trying to figure out some of the basics. I’ve come across an issue I haven’t been able to figure out. When I want to place a photo on a project I’m working on, sometimes I am given a choice to choose from a small number that appears to be somehow connected to the app. I’ve included a screen shot below. Or, choose from all the photos on my IPad. The shot below does not include an option that allows me to choose from my entire library of photos on my iPad. Sometimes the option shows up and other times it doesn’t. I would like to know why that option doesn’t come up every time. It’s very frustrating when I can’t get to my photo library to choose the photo I want. I am sure I’m doing the same thing every time, but too often, it just shows a handful of photos to choose from and not my complete library...with no option to go to the library. Any insights would be much appreciated. Thanks, Rob
  9. Hi all, I am new to Publisher. I have written my autobiography in Word 2007 but am having trouble with Word rendering images correctly in the document, mainly brightness and colour. I purchased Affinity Publisher as it is a colour managed application. I have tried importing the Word document into Publisher, however the layoout is completely wrong in Affinity, the images are all in the wronlg place. Is this what I should expect, then have to adjust in Publisher, or is there a way to import the Word document and maintaind the same layout? Regards, Steve
  10. When I place (link) photos into publisher, at times I cannot apply a stroke to the frame (not a picture frame). I just placed three photos, all jpgs, and I cannot apply a stroke to one of them. It does not show up in the submenu context bar . . .
  11. There is no "Affinity Photo extension" in "Photos". I bought it for iPad yesterday and I am so disappointed not to see it in Photos. Is it expected to implement this extension as it existe in the Mac desktop version of Affinity ? In the present state I will never use this software. Affinity needs to have the same tools on mobile and desktop application. I plan to buy the Mac desktop version when this specific point, often asked by users, will be improved.
  12. I use quite an exotic language on my devices - Polish - which belongs to the quite large group of languages unsupported by Affinity. That wouldn’t actually be a problem for me if not the auto-correction feature - which is not synchronized with the system-wide auto-correction, because my system language is Polish and when using text tools Affinity always mark all my Polish words as wrong . And again that wouldn’t be a problem (until I do some orthographic mistake) because auto-correction can be easily switched off in text tool settings (Check spelling while typing) but the problem is: if I turn it off in one document, it reverts back on when I close the document and enter it, or any other again. So the result is: always when I enter a document with text I’m welcomed by unfriendly red squiggly (unless I design something English) I tried using both “English” and “Default” setting in language option in Designer’s settings. 13. This is day 1 with Affinity Publisher so I may have missed something obvious. When I open a 150 page pdf I've been working on with Acrobat (I'm hoping to escape to Affinity) some of the greyscale images appear as a small part of the whole image, low contrast and a bit mangled. I've attached an example exported page. The pdf is a photo book, all BW images though they may vary in their original colour profile and resolution when the original was assembled in a mix of Acrobat & Indesign. The majority of the pages look fine in AP. It all looks fine in Acrobat. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what's going on and if it will be possible to open these existing files properly in Publisher? duff p25 210309 WORKING DH work in progess 19.pdf
  14. Hello, is it possible to automatically align layers or photos? For example if I have 3 photos with 3 different exposures which I shot handhold, so the photos differ slightly. Is there a way to align the photos? There doesn't seem to be the possibility to make an HDR, will it be implemented in the future?
  15. “Half a league, half a league … ” – oh, you know the rest, right? Of course. Now to the matter at hand in Today’s Fun Yet Somehow Dumb Question: Why can I no longer create selections using the PEN tool on an image layer and then save them to a NEW layer using Cmd + J on a Mac? This was possible in Photos (1.9.3) as recently as last week. I could select a layer, select the pen tool, create an outline, and then select the ‘extras) - grow/shrink,feather, etc before saving it as either a spare channel or a selection in the image's folder. Today I attempted to create a fairly basic rectangular selection of a sign to be made into its own layer - and couldn't do that anymore. The ‘Assistant’ [sic] immediately popped in and added its own Curves adjustment layer, thus removing from me the image layer with the information I wanted to cut out to put on its own layer. Despite many tries, I could not - and CAN NOT - get around the damned Assistant’s dubious yet somehow pointless ‘assistance.’ Today’s BIG QUESTION: HOW can I regain use of the Pen Tool to create cutouts which are then saved to their own layer? Those ones are much more crisp than the pixel-based Selection Tool compromise layers. Steps followed are fairly basic: Select Pen tool, create path, click Cmd-J, and … nichts. Alles ist verschimmelt … All responses welcomed and appreciated, and thanks to all for entering this week’s Big Dumb Question session …
  16. I've finally entered the world of creative advertising, by submitting my entry to The Chip Shop Awards for judging next spring. Not a cheap hobby. Being allowed to create something witty, close to the knuckle and quite apt is something I've wanted to do for a very long time. This is my entry. It is an ointment manufacturer, helping out the seasonal homeless down under, buy their product and they'll donate the proceeds to a charity. Of course it is full of puns, some of you know me well enough by now! Its called How can you sleep when the Bush is burning? Pungent: noun. a bloke with rotten jokes!🤢 The photo is from the web. The packaging was done this Spring in AD. The skewing, backlighting and montage was done in APh. Wish me luck. Peter (The Drum Chip Shop Awards celebrate pure, unadulterated creativity. It's a platform where anything and everything is allowed, an awards show with no rules and no boundaries meaning the possibilities are endless!) The prizes are not glossy statues or metallic masks: they are a resin bottle of vinegar and an oversized chip.
  17. I am on a Mac running MacOS 11.2.2 and using the latest version of Photos on the Mac as well as Affinity Photo 1.9.1. When I use the "Edit in Affinity Photo" extension in Apple Photos, Affinity Photo launches and I can do my edits. (I'm pixelating a photo.) Then, I select "Save" in Affinity Photo and close the window, and then am faced with a window from Photos that lets me "Save Changes". When I click on this action, I get the error "Unable to edit with "Edit in Affinity Photo" / An unexpected error occurred. I saw some topics on this from a few years ago, but can't find anything recent and also have not been able to resolve this. I've restarted the computer several times and ensured I have latest versions of software. Am I doing this process of using the extension correctly? Can anyone help me resolve this?
  18. I am running the the latest operating system on my MacBook and I have the latest Affinity 1.9 When in photos I select "Edit in Affinity' it doesn't load consistently. The other issue is when I edit in Affinity I cannot save back to photos. This is a nuisance and it happened before with earlier versions of both. Something needs fixing. I deleted and redownloaded Affinity to see if that would 'cure' the problem. Any help would be appreciated
  19. Finally got around to spending some time with Affinity Photo. I love it ! just wanted to share a couple of pics with you :)
  20. First of all, many thanks to Serif for Affinity Publisher. You did a great job and I love the software. However, I miss two features that are enormously important and prevent me from saying goodbye to InDesign: On the one hand, I do not have the "Data Merge" function that many users often want. I do not need to go into that. On the other hand (and this is really annoying), the function "Split Spread" is missing in the "Pages" panel. But this is very important if you want to place borderless or full-page photos. An example: Almost every professional printing company requires a 3mm bleed around each side. If I place a photo on the full page, the bleed of the photo on the opposite side appears during export. (see photo) In InDesign this is solved so that you can split individual double pages and then placed on the split page the photo with bleed. (see photo) That makes no problems in the export. A smaller feature that is missing is that you cannot export the bleed mark but only the cut mark when exporting. But I think I can live with that for now. (I hope my printers too)
  21. Hi, in the absence of Affinity Publisher, I'm using Designer to create a brochure and it is going really well so far. The new "Symbol" stuff in 1.5 makes life very easy when changing multiple things at the same time. I could do it quicker in Pages - because I know that inside out - but Pages doesn't have the finesse I require, and learning Designer is worth it. One thing I am stuck on is rounding off corners of images - or pixel layers. I have touched up the pictures in Affinity Photo, dragged the .afphoto files in, dragged them where I want them, done some layer effects etc and they look great. They would look even better with rounded corners. I have searched using Google but I have been unable to find anything - so sorry if this is a duplicate question. I did go looking. Is rounded corners on a picture something I can do in Designer? Thanks, Jez.
  22. What’s the best way to create this effect (in designer, publisher or photo)? The face and background of each photo have different color overlays. Thanks in advance!
  23. I'll start by mentioning that I upgraded to Mac OS 10.15.2 yesterday from the previous OS (Mojave). I noticed today that when exporting a photo from Apple Photos, specifically one that I edited in Affinity last year before upgrading to Catalina, it does not reflect the edits I made. The original file was shot in RAW, I used "Edit in Affinity", saved and closed and it created the jpeg in Apple Photos. Before the upgrade, I've successfully exported to both jpeg and png, both with the changes I made in Affinity. What's odd is that the preview in Apple Photos shows my edit, but the export looks like a jpeg made from the RAW, with no edits. I'll say, I haven't made a ton of edits in affinity, but I spot checked others and all but two exported fine today. So what I'm saying is that not everything I've edited in Affinity is having this Photos export issue. Any information would be helpful, as I don't know if there is a missing link after the update or what. I'm not sure if the issue lies with Apple or with Affinity, but I wanted to start here. After the update, I noticed the hierarchy in "Show Package Contents" for my Photos library is not something anyone can easily navigate, so I can't even locate the original or the preview file.
  24. HiCan anyone explain how I can save edited images from AP to Camera roll or photos on my iPad. I do not want to know about iCloud plz. Thanks
