  1. What I am trying to do/accomplish I am trying to find a way to get a vector graphic/ curve layer from an image I made in affinity photo. If I could either use an outline as the curve/path such as tracing the outline with the vector brush or filling my selection as a vector shape that is what I am trying to figure out. What I have tried Convert to curves - This has been greyed out on the pixel layers I have been trying to convert Designer flood fill - can flood my layer or selection but doesn't allow the shape to be converted to curves Creating an outline to convert to curves Masking a vector shape. Selecting the pixels of the pixel layer and using that as a mask over a basic shape. Selecting pixels from layer and using the vector brush to fill in selection A bit more info on the shape/ pixel layer I am trying to convert. I have taken a layer of perlin noise and have a posterize adjustment layer over the top of it. I am trying to make the shapes from each layer of the posterize. I can get to selecting the different layers, filling them and adding an outline but can't find a way to make them vector shapes without a third party program to vectorize each layer. ---> This is the image that I have been working on This is just one of the layers. This is what I have been trying to convert to a curve. If there as another way to generate these same kind of patterns (I need something organic) please let me know. 2. Applying the filter to a layer with areas of full transparency (alpha=100%) fills the entire layer. Expected behavior would be to fill only the opaque areas and taken into account the alpha cannel. The "Preserve Alpha" option would also make sense in the filter. Affinty Photo V.1.10.5.1342, Windows
  3. Got pretty bored last night after finishing Netflix, so I got a glass of red, put some Juno Reactor on the youtube and challenged myself to make a picture using only perlin noise. Feeling a bit spacey so the topic could only be a spaceship crashing into a planet. ...Crash and burn, sounds like my relationships.
  4. I was messing around with Perlin noise to create a random topographical map, combining multiple pixel layers with different octaves of said noise. I noticed that there's a barely visible ray coming from top left corner of the image going at a 45 degree angle down all the way across. I believe this is a bug in Perlin noise code, since the ray becomes more visible the more layers of Perlin noise you combine in one image. Example here: https://i.imgur.com/IeMTDWd.png
  5. Hi there, I've been thinking about moving to Affinity Photo after using Photoshop for several years, and one of the features I need and use almost more than any other is perlin noise. The ability to create and stack multiple layers of noise with blending modes is a make-or-break feature for me , and while I've really been enjoying the results I see using this software, I've noticed that there's a limitation in that the noise generated is always exactly the same. This can make layering noise quite difficult, especially noise with the same detail ranges. Are there plans for random seeds in future updates? I've noticed that when you adjust the zoom level of the noise it always zooms back into the 0, 0 co-ordinates at the top left, so even a way to offset those home co ordinates would function in my case! In addition, it would also be extremely helpful to be given the option to control the zoom of the y and x co ordinates individually, to help with generating fibre or grain texture! As it stands currently I can think of a workaround involving writing out a much larger source image of pre generated perlin noise and then reading in and transforming that result, but as far as a workflow goes, it's not exactly smooth.
  6. Hello, the Perlin Noise function in Affinity is adequate for Clouds in Photoshop (Elements) and is used to design textures such as clouds, water surfaces, fire, smoke, etc. Now I noticed that in Affinity the fractal noise function is not randomly produced: No matter how many times I fill a level and then go to Filter -> Noise -> Perlin Noise: The result always remains the same. But if I choose in Photoshop Elements Render -> Clouds, the result is always random. Greetings Martin
Ciao Jack Hi, in this Affinity Photo Tutorial, I show you a steaming manhole cover in a dark street. I create steam, but the method for smoke would be the same.. There are many possibilities for the application, like you want. I wish you fun. You can post your results and ideas.
