  1. I Hello, just bought iOS affinity photo and want to sketch with pencil over photos I’ve taken. Adobe Sketch allows a setting to ignore all hand and finger pressure, so I can draw properly with just the pencil. am I missing something, or is this not possible with a iPad Pro pencil? This will be a refund request if not possible!
  2. I am considering upgrading my old iPad Air 2 to an iPad pro 12.9, and possibly a getting a second generation Apple pencil. What is the experience of the community in using the Apple pencil (2) for Affinity Photo? Does it integrate well with the app, what do you use it for, and what tips could you give a newbie? I have looked through help and the tutorials, which gives me some idea, but I suspect there is much more that would help a new user get the best out of this hardware - software combination. And a Nikon 810.
  3. Since the last update. I can't draw in real time. Neither draw nor delete. I use the Apple pencil, but the delay is considerable. That's when he wants to draw or delete and not hang the program. We need an update soon, it's our working tool. All the time you see in the video that's happening is, we re using the Apple pencil on the screen, with brush or eraser. And then when he paints it makes him suddenly. rpreplay_final1559843880.mp4
  4. Basically, I'm fairly new to Affinity Designers and recently got a drawing tablet. When I use a mouse to use the vector brush tool it is not shifted/wobbly. But, when I draw the same line with my VEIKK A30 drawing tablet it is all wobbly and shaky. I know I don't have the stabilizer on but, I don't like the way it functions. (I know that's how stabilizers work and are behind the point of your pen but, why are they straight when drawn with the mouse.) Below, is a screenshot I took as an example. You can see the pen settings above in the bar so, please if you see anything wrong point it out. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but, I see numerous videos of Affinity Designer on YouTube where they are drawing straight lines without the stabilizer on...
  5. I love how each tool can have its own double tap shortcut but the shortcut options are limited. My favorite use of the pencil so far is doing alpha masks. It’s so perfect, precise, and quick in the app + pencil that I’ll probably never do curve selections for cutouts again! One very common task when drawing alpha masks is to switch between black and white colors to draw what part of the layer is visible (white) and what part is hidden (black) Request: Allow double tap shortcut for pencil that switches between two colors, kinda like hitting the X key in photoshop. This will let me quickly swap between black and white brush tool colors when working on alpha masks.
  6. When i use brush with presure sensitivity, the brush make a weird line and make chopy shape i dunno my device not compitable or what (my devices is ipad 6 2018) i need brush for making font, any one have the same issue's here? help me to solve this D18B7D97-D185-422C-8E05-374BC510AC19.MP4 A815AFBA-86AA-4735-A17B-FFC3527004A0.MP4
  7. For me, the pencil tool is one of the most used tools in illustrator. It is a very powerfull and easy to overlook tool in Illustrator. In 1.6 the pencil tool was weak in Designer and made me not using Designer so far. I was a bit hyped when i saw the update notes that the pencil tool had an upgrade. I am flying through the update and am trying to close a shape with one line just by overlapping the first node. I am trying all kind of stuff but so far no luck. Any thoughts? the sculping option is a welcome update. It is not so advanced as in illustrator but it is a start. I am happy to see this!
  8. As the title says, there is a significant lag or pause when I try to move points of a shape with my Apple Pencil. I guess the lag is also there when dragging with my finger, but it’s less visible. The points only move when I drag them for more than around 5mm on the screen. I am using the new IPad Pro 11“ and Affinity Designer Version 1.6.4.45. Here is a screen recording. In my opinion this makes it impossible to work precisely... 61F4593B-2225-4358-8A11-F27272B939E6.MOV
  9. Hi when using any brush with pressure control, the stroke goes mental and glitches out - making it impossible to see what I’m drawing. I’m up to date on all software and have no issues with any other illustration apps on my iPad. D542FB05-5721-4194-AF5B-734D1E01D91D.MOV
  10. Getting very odd artifacts while using the vector brush and the pencil in Affinity Designer for iPad. Ive tested this on 2 different iPads, and 2 different apple pencils, happens on both! Super frustrating and completely random every vector brush stroke. I know others are most likely experiencing this exact same problem. anyone have a work around or know a trick? affinity_Designer_bug.mp4
  11. The touch for gestures only is ignored....how annoying.(in the inpainting brush)

    Colour picker bug

In both Designer and Photo, picking a colour with the colour picker works fine with a finger, but is unreliable with the pencil. Sometimes it’s fine, sometimes I hold my pencil over the colour and it eventually fills the outer circle, and sometimes I hold it as long as I can and the outer circle never fills.
  13. Probably on my top 10 most used features in Illustrator is the stroke width tool, which allows you to adjust the width of the stroke at each anchor point. This can somewhat be achieved using the Pressure tab within the pen line settings, but it isn't nearly as precise. A couple of solutions might be: Add a stroke width tool to allow anchor points to be adjusted. Within the pressure panel, display a point on the graph for every anchor point from the shape. And allow these to be adjusted only vertically on the graph by holding shift, so that they stay on the anchor points. Create a new panel in the pen menu that allows for a numerical value to be entered in for stroke width. Thanks for listening.
  14. Hello, is there any possibility that a future update for Designer will allow for the user to control the smoothing on a newly created line or fill? As an illustrator it is VERY important to be able to have what I draw get accurately reflected when I lift up the pencil. Currently Designer is making that decision for me (not cool). It feels like a program of this caliber should be able to offer the user that level of control. I would love to be able to turn smoothing off so I can actually draw what I am intending. Is there a possibility that that will be implemented in a future update? Also PLEASE add a vector based eraser tool! Thank you. Caleb
  15. Hello. I couldn't find a direct answer to this. Is there a way to sculpt a pencil line in the desktop version of Affinity designer. I love using this feature on the iPad and find the Pencil tool basically useless to me without it. Thanks,
  16. I’m experiencing something strange...all of a sudden my Apple Pencil doesn’t work anymore with Affinity Photo (in for example Procreate it keeps on working flawlessly as before). In Affiniy Photo it just does nothing. Did I perhaps disagle it somewhere? I cannot find were to select Apple Pencil. Thanks in advance!
  17. I would like the ability to control opacity from within the pencil tool— like an rgba set up. I would also like to be able to set the tool as a multiply (or other) type to quickly layer shapes and colors. As of writing I’m not sure if this is possible without going into the layer menu to adjust opacity and layer types.
  18. I'd like to request a feature/key press for the pencil tool behaviour that would allow you to close the curve you're drawing? In illustrator holding down the option key does this. Currently I'm drawing the curve, then I select the last node and snap it to the first node to close it. This is a step I'd rather not have to do over the course of possibly hundreds of curves. I could use the pen tool but sometimes the pencil feels more organic and is quicker when precision is not what you're after... would love to see this added to the 1.7 lineup, thanks for considering this. :-)
  19. @MEB I did a search but couldn't find anything... is it possible to close a curve when drawing a curve with the pencil tool. In illustrator holding down the option key works. Anything in designer like that? Currently I'm drawing the curve, then I select the last node and snap it to the first node to close it. This is a step I don't want to have to do over the course of possibly hundreds of curves.
  20. Hi As already discussed in the “Affinity on iPad Questions” section (linked below text), it seems there is a bug when drawing with the vector brush tool and pencil tool. In some cases (mostly long curves) the end cup is displayed with the general stroke width, although it should have zero width since the handle for pressure at the end-point is pulled to the bottom. Screenshots, a video and the file are uploaded in the “Affinity on iPad Questions” section - link below. .
  21. Hi! so I started working on an illustration as first serious project in A designer. Thrilled! After trying out different brush settings I finally found what I was after. After tracing a bit the app started laffing and froze. The feel and quality is awesome and I hope there is a way around this. My settings were with pressure and it happens with stabilizer on. Is there any fix for this? greetz, c
  22. Hi there, my new iPad is on its way to my home. It will arrive in a few days, but I would love to buy the iPad version of Affinity Designer right now. Does anybody know, how I can buy an iPad App without an iPad? I tried to send it as a gift, but that doesn't work. And, which 3rd party pencil do you recommend for the iPad? I was about to order the Apple Pencil, but I really don't know if it's worth the money. Are there any pencils you can recommend for drawing and sketiching on the iPad 2018? Thanks in advance and cheers, Ken
  23. Recently I have had the problem with my pencil picking up the background color when I'm trying to paint with a different color. It's not only painting on masks but other situations also.
  24. Hi there, In Designer, when you've drawn a line (path) with the Pencil tool, and lifted your stylus, the path is 'done', and the Pencil is ready to draw the next path. ¿What if you want to Continue that same path – rather than just adding another one at its end? Pencil sketching is appealing because of its speed; it would no longer be any fun if you had to manually connect paths that you want to be a single one. Is there a modifier key to do continue from the last node of an already drawn path? I couldn't find one. If none exists, would this be a good feature for the Wish List? thanks in advance, - pbass
  25. Hi! Started to learn Affinity. I don't know how to make colouring in between multible pencil curves. It worked when I made single curve but if my area is between 4 curves, how to do it then? Please check attachment. I tried to find tutorials from youtube but... Thank You to everybody who tries to help me! Wagner
