  1. Hi, it would be very helpful to get a PDF/X-3:2002 (1.3) export option. Like it is still available in InDesign CC. When working with small printing (also large ones) companies they often support / prefer this old standard. Because if the transparencies are flatten they have less problems. Yes, they want to use their "old" software. In the ever-shrinking print world they have problems out of the costs. A Software update would not pay off for a very long periond of time. I don´t need this type of PFD files very often, but with my last two projects I have had exactly this problem. Searching the internet it also turns up very often. Also here in another topic: Would be nice to see this option in on of the upcoming updates. Best, Thomas
  2. Hello, i have a problem with the export from a file in Affinity Publisher. I want to make a Sharp pdf file & keep the options with url-links. But all the exports I tried failed and created a faded result. Doesn’t look professional. Am I doing something wrong? Can someone help me please? I cant figure it out & need the file today. Thanks in advance!
  3. Hi guys. We're really missing the feature to open PDF's with baked embedded fonts. I understand that this feature is why many still clins on to Photoshop, like my self. Please make this feature a reality!? We have been waiting for this for several years now...
  4. Using Designer v1.6.1 under macOS 10.13.6, I have a 300ppi (dpi) document with 2 artboards - it includes 0.125" bleed. Each artboard is the same size -- 5.25" x 8.25". When exporting individual pages as PDF with printer's marks, crops, registration, bars and page info, the resultiing PDF size of the cropped area works fine and is, as expected at 5.25" x 8.25". However when exporting the whole document (both pages), with the same settings preset, the crop size somehow is changing to 5.5" x 8.5". This doesn't seem like the correct behaviour and is a different result than exporting the individual pages. Am I doing something wrong here? How can I get the expected results of a crop of 5.25" x 8.25" when exporting all the pages (whole document)? fwiw, my issue also occurs with the Designer Beta 1.7.0.3. 18-1639OHA-PDF-Export-issue-wholedocument.pdf 18-1639OHA-PDF-Export-issue-nobleed.pdf 18-1639OHA-PDF-Export-issue-withbleed.pdf 18-1639OHA-PDF-Export-issue.afdesign
  5. I'd love to see Affinity Publisher support tagged and accessible PDFs from the ground up, ideally with full support for PDF/UA. Many institutions and government bodies require this for public documents, and making it part of the program's logic could be a major selling point. I am not convinced that the way in which InDesign implements this in is the best way of going about it; it tends to create a lot of extra work that most people don't bother with. Instead, it should be possible to use this structural information to make document creation more efficient and improve a print/Web workflow.
  6. Have an issue with exporting to PDF, some of the titles and lots of segments of text are garbled (random characters). The body text affected is in italics. The document is an imported PDF (from InDesign, I think) and I had to replace the fonts; it may be related to my trying to use "different" fonts instead of all sub-styles, as I couldn't find a set which contained the whole lot and had to add from another source (and I'm not a font management expert!). Not sure why some, but not all titles are affected, though. Any thoughts?
  7. Place PDF file with embedded fonts in Affinity Publisher. Hello, I have done extensive testing with the current beta. Unfortunately it is the case that with placed PDF files the embedded fonts contain no PDF file. Even if the missing font is replaced by another one, the program crashes during PDF export. Unfortunately, it is the same with all programs. Designer, Photo and Publisher. In Page Plus, Indesign, Quark this works without problems.
  8. Hi All, A newbie query, But ..I guess, something that should helpful to large Architectural community... What shall be the better way to color Architectural drawings ( exported form autocad as PDF files ). We use shadows for the furniture to give depth illusion ... And also use pattern fill (in Photoshop) to give texture to different type of flooring patterns( carpets , wooden floor ,tiles etc.) ...or highlighting some areas . The pdf drawings imported have lot of text and dimensions at times . ... Having better flood fills selection easily and fast is important . If we get the same or better workflow as Photoshop , I shall be able to convince my office to give this software to everyone in the team. Regards. kay
  9. Hi Everyone, I have some Questions about the perfect Workflow for Architects, Working with affinity Photo at first. We are a big Architectural Company, using untill now Photoshop and CAD Programms like Autocad and Revit, to produce Plans for Architectural presentations. A well established Workflow exists, Printing PDF Files from Autocad, with the used Layers, that later on can be refined in Photoshop thinking of colors, effects ore retouching things. 1. We export the needed PDF´s to a folder 2. We use Photoshop , using the PdF´s as linked embeded Smart Objects (and Photoshop gives an option to place them pecisely as i will show in my screenshots...) 3 Whenever the Plan changes, and beleave me the Plan can change a dozen times :-( , we only have to print the changed plans, replacing to older pdfs with new ones, and ......... bang... the Phhotoshop document updates because the linked smart objects now use the changed pdfs. Well i know linked smart objects do not allready exist in affinity PHoto, but i can place embeded pdf´s which fullfills my wishes half the way... this has to come in later releases of affinity Photo... now, i reproduced this workflow in affinity which we wish to switch to in the future as far as i could.. First Problem: How can i tell the placed pdf´s, to get imported exactly where i wish them to... (as i can in photoshop using the dialog box while importing and as i show in the screenshots ) ? Scound Problem: If theres no way to place the embedded pdf file.... is the way, using snaps as i show in the screenshots of my affinity workflow the only and best way ? What would you suggest to streamline this workflow ? Third Problem: When i dont Change the embedded pdfs, and i Plot them , everything seems fine. But when i use a Layer Effect (color overlay) which the architects use to change the Colores of the layer to the exact Color without thinking of it in the CAD Program, I Can see, that the embedded PDF in Affinity gets visible lines inside the Colored areas... And they get printed Too.... thats a real big Problem. When i open the embedded Pdf, i still can see its not a pixellayer, but a group of very many colored vector shapes.. but never the less. I dont mind , what affinity uses in the embedded Object, but when theres a colored area, there shouldnt be lines in there in any way.. it makes it unsuable. Is there a Workaround ? maybe instead of importing pdf´s, better to use eps files from the cad programm ? any ideas ? This is realy important, it has to be a smart workflow, because if not, my company using some hundred of Photoshop licenses will not be able to switch to affinity. So pleas give us a solution.. greetings from Hamburg, Tom The attached Images show the workflow in PHotoshop, and the workflow in affinity and one immage showing the jagged lines inside the solid color, using the color overlay effect on one of the embedded objects. I could also send you an eample of the used footage if this helps. gruen_500.pdf
  10. I asked the export function to save the export in a different folder, bad mistake. Now, no matter what I try, it will not export to pdf, It gets about 10% then fails. There is no useful error message, so I have no idea what to do. I've quit and restarted. Saved the file under a new name, tried letting the program decide where to save. Nada, nothing. I would appreciate any and all suggestions.
  11. I have produced a pdf version of the Affinity Photo manual that you can read without starting the program. It can be interesting to put it on your phone or tablet to read when you have some time to spare. Since the file is too big to upload here, I have put it on Dropbox for you to download. It is current for the last version of Affinity Photo. Comments welcomed. Here is the link: https://dropbox.com/s/d3uxmmypdx9ruzw/Affinity%20Photo%20Manual.pdf?dl=0
  12. Hi guys, I have finished that design and I find that when I exported it to PDF the result is very bad. I have tried many options without good results. In the attached files you can see the settings and the final result. Any idea? AP_Result.pdf
  13. Hi there, I have multiple files and I want to join them together now. I can't copy and paste, or anything else. Merge files isn't possible or am I missing something? I work on different files so the software doesnt fill the ram to quickly (only 4gb). Now i want to join all the pages to create a single pdf and I don't know how to do it. Thanks edit: please change this to the discussion forum. Didn't notice that i posted on bugs.
  14. A video import option would be great, whether thats streaming video from Vimeo or actually inserted into the document. Then being able to output as a PDF and send to clients would be invaluable. I appreciate it would create larger files but this is way better option that filling a document full of links. Great product so far Thanks Glenn
  15. I've just loaded Publisher .206 and tried to work with PDF files. A few bugs seem to have crept in over the previous version. PDF files are much slower to import / load and save / create as an output compared to the previous version. There are many errors in the imported / loaded PDFs, the most common one being spaces being replaced with a clear square block. Also sometimes images have moved and text has overwritten other lines. It could be my source file but I can edit it fine in Adobe tools without these errors, see the attached file, which is a pdf import / export from Affinity .206 without modifying the PDF. Also, I tried to regress to .192 but found that this didn't work. Running .192 seemed to delete the . 206 exe without installing the previous version (.192). So I've re-installed .206. I'm no PC expert so it is possible that my PDF screwed things up. Many Thanks. Affinity Test2.pdf
  16. Good Evening Affinity Members. Can anyone tell me if there is a PDF type User Guide for the Affinity Programs? I have recently purchased both Designer and Photo but I have no experience whatsoever. I am watching tutorials but I think it would be helpful to have more information on hand. Thank You
  17. LaTeX and InDesign can both create a PDF with bookmarks, based on the headings structure or other styles. (InDesign has a nice 'Table of Contents' function for managing this.) This greatly improves PDF usability.
  18. Hi, I'm trying to find out how to place a multiple-page PDF into document, but I can't find an option where I can change which pages to place. It places only the first page and I want to place first and second (or all). Any thoughts? Thanks
  19. The pop up for the assigned colour profile seems to be cause a serious error that causes affinity to hang during a multiple PDF import scenario... Steps to reproduce: Select multiple PDFs in Finder Right click and open with Affinity Designer Program crashes unable to click or perform actions Workaround Open each file using same method above individually making sure to dismiss the colour profile assignment popup before opening each file. It seems to happen pretty much all of the time and I think it's the colour profile thing but I can't be sure, however the steps above usually reproduce this. I have also attached a screenshot of the console log. I would really like to know why I can't open multiple PDFs at once (in this case it affects single page PDFs and multiple page documents too). Affinity 1.6.1 MacOs Mojave 10.14 MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)
  20. Can somebody tell me if fonts are automatically embedded when exporting to PDF? I can't find anywhere to select 'embed fonts'. Thank you!
  21. I have exported a PDF file from an Affinity Publisher Beta project and discovered some of the fonts (i.e. Georgia Bold and Georgia Bold Italic) have not embedded correctly into the file, yet other fonts have. I do not usually have problems with these fonts elsewhere. Are there still issues to sort in the Beta concerning exporting of embedded fonts?
  22. I have Affinity Designer and Photo for Mac desktop, and I'm a newbie to both. I tried importing a PDF (attached) that I need to edit into both Designer and Photo. In both programs the PDF is layered, which is great since that means I can edit it easily. However, the topographic map layer becomes very pixelated. If I do my edits and then export as a PDF or PNG (or any file type that I've tried), the topographic map layer remains pixelated. This layer looks smooth when I open the PDF in a viewer. It is also smooth and not pixelated when I open the PDF using Photoshop (I don't have Illustrator). However, in Photoshop the PDF doesn't open with layers. Years ago I know that my partner managed to do some basic edits to this PDF without any pixelation, I believe with Inkscape, so it should be possible. Can someone let me know what I'm doing wrong in Affinity? Thanks!! Test.pdf
  23. Hi guys; I'm think it's is a bug; not sure if it was my mistake, but I assume that it's a bug; When I export a Affinity file to PDF with a square size (image 1, you can see it's 600 x 600 px file), and try to re-open the file in Affinity, the file looses proportion and adds a strange blank border; it's the same file re-opened and you see it's not making a 800x800 px file, but a 801,3 x 800 file with this litle blank border (image 2). I'm not tagging bleeding or trim marks to add when I'm making the exportation (image 3) and i't appear to be kind random this blank border adding thing (image 4; it's a third party PDF viewer, so you can see how random is). Is it possible a bug? Thanks guys
  24. I have text on a flyer which contains umlaute. AD displays it correct. After export into a PDF the umlaute are replaced by a functional char (see attachment original and result). Of course I can rasterize all the text, but I don't want it in this case. I attached a printscreen from the export configuration as well. Thanks
  25. Hi everyone, I made a document on Designer for iPad that contains text and vector shapes. When I export the document as a PDF, I end up with a flat image. I tried to export the entire things as a SVG to keep the vectors but same result. Do you know how this could be solved? (I’m looking for a solution similar to Sketch) Thanks!
