  1. When working on a big layout I use copy on an object with Effects applied to it and than paste FX on the target objects to make sure all my objects get the exact same outer shadow. But it's not working as expected: when pasting the Effects on an object with a different size, the values of the Effects (at least with Outer Shadow) are different!! It looks like Designer does some sort of proportionally scaling to the surface of the object we paste the Fx unto, but that's not consistent and unwanted anyway. I don't know what Designer does with the values, but it's not pasting the FX the way se set them up and copied. This way paste FX is pretty useless, because we want to have the exact same effects on all our objects. At least with effects like Shadow, Glow etc. Now we still have to adjust all FX-values by hand, so copying and pasting didn't make much sense. I've been looking for a way to paste with absolute values (like checkboxes, preferences, a different menu item for it), but could't find it anywhere. Especially because we set the Outer Shadow value in pixels and not in percentages, we might expect the FX get copied with absolute values too. So I call this a bug. (Unfortunately rightnow I have to walk through all of my (around 100) objects in the file one by one to set the right Outer Shadow values... 'cause I just found out it isn't using the same shadow everywhere now... damn ) Hope this can be fixed soon, because copying and pasting FX is a pretty nice workflow that really speeds up the workflow and the way it is build now is just unusable!! Thanks in advance! fx-copies-values-relative-instead-of-absolute.mp4
  2. One thing I have missed for a long time is the ability to copying and pasting individual Layer Effects. What I mean is that I have a set of Layer Effects which I have spent a long time tweaking saved in a Styles Group. And I have another set of Layer Effects which I've also spent a long time tweaking saved in Styles. I wish there was a way of copying some elements from one style and combining it with elements from the other style. When copying and pasting styles and effects they overwrite other styles and effects already applied to an object. Especially gradient outlines and overlays in the Layer Effects panel are a nightmare. There is no way of copying them as far as I know, and so the only solution is to make new gradients from scratch, which is enormously time consuming. It would be an enormous time saver to be able to copy, say an outline gradient from one object and an overlay gradient from another object - and of course other effects as well - on an individual, effect by effect basis. I envision an "effects palette", where you could pick for example the 3D effect settings from one object, the overlay gradient settings from a second object and the outline effects from a third object, apply them all to the object you're working on, and when you're happy with the result, maybe even be able to save the settings of this "palette" as a new style or as an "effects palette preset", where the individual settings can be tweaked further, enabled, disabled and combined with new effects picked from other objects and/or styles.
  3. Hello, friends. First of all i want to describe glitch. I have a design with two elements in one group. I make bevel FX adjustments to one of it. Then i copy one element with adjusted FX and then use for my group - Edit/Paste FX command. The settings for bevel FX are changed a lot and overall effect looks completely different. I dont check other FXs - it need to be checked additionally. SUGGESTION - why not to place Paste FX in drop down commands for the Layer tabs - as on my screenshot? It will be more handy and logical - where you work with FX, adjust, copy and paste them in one window ..... maybe )))
  4. v1.6.1.93 When copying an Outer Glow Layer effect already applied to an object with the intention pasting (Paste FX) the same effect to another object, the radius value is not pasted. If for example I were to copy the curve selected in the screenshot below, then select and Paste FX to the second Curve (the first one in layers panel) the radius value of 15.5 px is not pasted. When an outer glow is applied to an object which is then placed over another object the Outer Glow falls behind the object. In the example in the screenshot below the grey coloured rectangle is below all the other layers at the back but the outer glow is obscured. fx.afdesign
  5. Hi, I'm sure this must have been brought up before, but it's driving me batty! Create an object on the page (in this case it is the left blue rectangle 400px x 400px) Add fx (in this case outer shadow 15px radius and 15px offset plus Inner bevel sharp corner 15px radius) Create a new object (in this case the right green elipse also 400px x 400px) Select the first object and copy Select the second object and go to Edit > Paste FX Open up the fx panel Expected: The second object's effects will also be the same 15px outer shadow and bevel Actual: The second reports as 17.9px I've been doing a lot of text work recently where I want to copy the fx across from one object to another but this isn't working. Yes, I know I can work around this by cloning objects but this isn't always practical, particularly when I'm wanting to see how an extra effect looks across the whole project. Here's the simple file that I describe above. pasted-fx-1.afdesign pasted-fx-2.afdesign
