  1. Hello, I have a problem. I want to create a PDF for printing. The background should be transparent except where the photo is. The photo should be backed with the special color "Spot1". Can someone explain how to do this?
  2. Photoshop/Adobe set a standard for all apps, apparently, by putting the vertical toolbar on the lefthand side of the app. This is wonderful--for left-handed users. Being right-handed, I moved and docked the toolbar to the "panels" window on the right side of the app many years ago meaning I no longer had to move the mouse cursor back and forth cross screen which is, IMHO, wasted motion. I do the same in Affinity Photo but the tools do not dock (become "sticky") to the panels window. This suffices BUT my request is that in a future release of Affinity products you make the toolbar, and similar windows, dockable to the panels window or any other windows within the app. Perhaps southpaws would also like to dock the panels to the toolbar on the left side of the app. I think this *might've* been suggested a year-and-a-half ago but since it still hasn't been addressed, I thought a refresh might be in order. Thanks!
  3. A while back I referred to this in passing in a thread here β€” I kept finding that my custom tool panel (Character + Paragraph + Text Frame + Transform) would vanish unexpectedly. I'd have to reassemble the custom panel all over again. But it wasn't a bug after all β€” they didn't "just vanish." I use Alt+F4 to exit Affinity Publisher. But it turns out the program has been using the keystrokes to close the front-most window, which always seems to be that custom tool panel. Using the keyboard shortcuts feature to bind Alt+F4 explicitly to the Exit command has fixed this. Alt+F4 no longer affects the custom tool panel.
  4. Hello Affinity Team, Thanks for creating a great product! There is a feature I miss. Being able to show more panels at the same time. This would be really, really, really useful, for example when trying to add a symbol to specific layer. If I would be able to see both the symbol panel and the layers panel, I would be able to drag and drop the symbol in the right place. It's a big pain to have to select a layer, or group of layers and then try to add the symbol to the canvas, as the symbol never ends up in the right place. Also, it would be useful to be able to see more panel, when having to switch tools which are located in different panels. Now, as opposed to the desktop version of the app, which has this feature, you need to click and touch a lot! Is there a way to get this feature? Best, Dan
  5. Hello, the Panel/Toolbar that is usually on the right side of the screen is no longere there. I don't know if it disappeared or I accidentally closed it but it was very useful when trying to change levels, modify individual layers, etc. Could you please let me know how I can get this area back? Attached a screenshot of the area where this panel/toolbart is.
  6. The last 1.8.2 update has broken the use of tab to navigate the values of the color panel. You can use the tab to go to next field, but as soon as you type a new value, tab stops working until you manually click into a field again. This worked fine in 1.8.0 and 1.8.1. It seems that tabbing after typing the value deselects the current field instead of selecting the next one. Setting cmyk values is now a slow tab-type-click process. Other tab-navigable panels work fine (for example, transform panels) By the way, this is a good chance to remind you we'd love to have tab-navigation in all panels, not only The Chosen Ones. πŸ˜‰
  7. Hi, I've been working with Affinity Designer for a few weeks now. Coming from Adobe Suite CS6 there's is a lot I like about Affinity Designer, but also a few things that would make working in AD just that little bit better. One of those things is that Align and Distribute doesn't have its own panel. Maybe it Align and Distribute could be combined with the Transform panel (see image) ... or just could have a panel on it own. greetings, Ivo
  8. Affinity's use of the mousewheel is very helpful indeed. Adding this feature to panels such as Character and Paragraph would speed up ones work flow. Currently I must move my mouse over to these panels and manually scroll down.
  9. I am really liking publisher so far, and can imagine working with it professionally in the future. I am using indesign cs5.5 at the moment and one thing I would like to see in publisher which is in this program is collapsible panels. I like to have some panels open all the time, like character, paragraph, pages and color. This already fills my workspace pretty much, but I would like other options quickly available too, but not take up space all the time, f.i. the text frame option, the text styles and stroke options. Having some way to group a couple and minimize them would be very helpful.
  10. Please excuse me if this has been requested. Please consider option to change Adjustments/Filters panels to List. The panel fly outs are pretty, but take up a lot of limited space on the iPad. Thank you.
  11. Ok Serif / Affinity guys... This is driving me crazy! Previously I have submitted this suggestion, though I don't believe I was heard. IMO Affinity products desperately need the ability to auto-hide panels. See [https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/31218-multi-uiux-suggestion-auto-hide-panels/] I am using a very large notebook computer with a 17" screen. Large screen for a notebook, though smaller screen size for graphic design work. With this monitor using the panel controls in Affinity products is frustrating. There simply isn't enough room! I group panels needing more vertical space (layers, effects, history, brushes, etc.) together. Panels needing less vertical space are also grouped. Regardless how it is organized I do not have enough vertical space to effectively use the panels. Some of the panels require large vertical space, some medium, some smaller. With 3 stacked sets of panels the larger panels are way too cramped. Even if I group the medium and smaller panels together (which puts way too many panels in the smaller panel group), there still isn't enough vertical space for the larger panels. With smaller monitors, having panels on both sides of the screen (without auto-hide) is obviously impractical. Working with cramped panels is extremely clumsy and frustrating. Affinity UI panel design is not elegant for smaller monitors!!! If I could auto-hide panels (as was implemented in Serif *Plus applications), I could put panels on both sides of my monitor and have all the panels I find useful easily accessible. Current implementation forces users with 'smaller' monitors to make significant concessions in their use of panels. Regardless of screen size, the ability to auto-hide panel groups would be useful for all/most users, as this would allow users to better organize their application interface, and enable users to have more panels immediately accessible. This would make the use of panels in Affinity applications significantly more elegant. PLEASE consider implementing an auto-hide feature in panel groups in Affinity applications.
  12. Customizing the studio space is very important, especially for small screens. Illustrator has quite an awesome feature that affinity designer is missing. You can create a second studio with minimized (icons only) panels that pop-open when clicked. This saves a lot of space but makes them much easier accessible compared to only the tabs in affinity (often you even have a scrollable tab bar). The benefit is that you can have your big panels on the very right and expand one additional panel on the inner right studio. This males working soooo much easier. It would be great if you could add this feature.
  13. Hi Affinity team! I worked for years on Adobe CC and I transitionned recently to the Affinity suite (death to Illustrator!). I work on a big screen and I'm used to have several layer of panel clipped on each side of my screen, like in the exemple. I find it really convinient when you want to access a lot of fonctions really fast and, more important, keep those fonctions in the same place at all time. Sadly that feature isn't part of the affitinty apps. You can clip just one row of panels to the sides of the screen, the second row just floats and I tend too drag it by mistake. I would love to have this feature in affinity, it's one of the few problems I have with your apps. Thanks !
  14. Hello I have a problem with studio panels. I use three monitors on Windows 10. Every time I arrange the panels on the second monitor and restart Affinity Designer or Photo, they are unordered. Sometimes the panel is missing and sometimes they all move to the third or first monitor. I can't solve this problem. Is there any way that studio panels will always stay in one place? greetings Michael
  15. I have no idea if this is the best place to post this or not.... I'm trying to replicate a 7-panel brochure I did in Adobe Indesign and having problems with making the transition. The finished, folded size is 4" x 9". So I created my initial document with those dimensions. The inside panels of the brochure must be 4 7/8 (3.875") x 9 to accommodate fold creep. So I create a second master with those dimensions. I want each "panel" of the brochure to be a page, and then want to lay them out side by side to create the brochure inside and outside. Attached is a thumnail of the Indesign page panel showing the page panels (pages) in spreads. Each panel is a page and, when dragged into this configuration, create the spreads to print. Is this even possible in Publisher?
  16. Since the latest update of PHOTO and DESIGNER everytime i launch the programs the panels keep changing size. It worked fine on 1.7. But 1.7.1 is a mess. Tried using control on boot to reset hasn't helps. Suggestions? Please fix this its really annoying. It would be great to save a workspace like ADOBE ( sorry) and then you could have multiple layouts. Gary
  17. Since the last Update of 1.7. all my panels are constantly changing with every boot of the program. Was fine with initial 1.7, but the first update screwed this up. Tried resetting with CONTROL on boot...but no luck. This is extremely annoying . Trying to work and this keeps changing. Anyone have a fix? Gary
  18. Some of the window panels don't show the arrow to resize. For example I can't vertically resize the "Layers" "Navigator" panels. How can I fix this issue?
  19. Dear all, since the update to version 1.7 the panels donΒ΄t remain the way I arranged them. Each time you start Affinity Photo or switch between the personas the position and size of the panels changed, though they were docked to each other. My system: Windows, Office 10 Pro (64 bit), two monitors (I apologize for my english - no native speaker)
  20. I'm on Designer 1.6.1 on Mac running High Sierra and can't tab between fields in the Character and Paragraph panels (works fine in Transform). I removed the default shortcut of using the Tab key to Toggle UI but that didn't help. Is this a bug? Please do enable tabbing between fields in all panels in future releases. Thanks. Here is a link to a screen recording showing how tabbing works properly in Transform but not in Character/Paragraph: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1a4Rq4CbxbVtgfsY0vgocRECgVWMjSi04
  21. I recently did some testing of publisher by making a brochure with a lot of text. I noticed some weird behaviour when moving around in my document using my apple magic (touch) mouse: the linespacing changed suddenly and another time the text size increased as if by ghost hands... I researched and found there is a (some might say) *neat* feature to change values of input fields by just hovering above and scrolling the "mouse-wheel" – but this sometimes also happens when my mouse-pointer is somewhere else. Although it may be an interesting idea, I consider it a bad implementation, and in some cases it's also buggy. Sometimes it interferes with scrolling inside a panel (like a webpage containing an annoying iframe...). Increasing line-spacing of text that has already gotten a paragraph-style just by accidentally scrolling over the input field is not good. Maybe this is a good feature in AfDesigner, where you do much less text and have to experiment with it, e.g. logo-design, but not for type-setting large amounts of text in explicit defined typography.
  22. Hi! As many of us, I'm used to the UI of adobe – although we may not like every behaviour – much of it has proven to be at least consistent and practical. I encourage the affinity-team to experiment and try new ideas for a workflow optimised UI that's fun and easy to use – it does not have to stay the way adobe settled. But what I'm essentially missing is a way to keep all the _different_ panels arrangements I need per usage - so called "Workspaces" in adobes parlance: Maybe that is what the "Personas" are for, which is an interesting approach, but I use workspaces to quickly fill my screenS(!) with all the relevant panels and to close the not relevant ones for the job I'm doing right now. It's not always just "Exporting" and "Drawing" like the personas allow me to use – sometimes I need e.g "Screendesign", "Typesetting"or "27 + 21,5inch Monitor maximized" "13inch Laptop minimal" (I'm speaking of the separated mode, of course) Second use-case is to be able to move my Workspaces to a different computer or a new system-installation. I already have to arrange the panels on the 3 Affinity-Apps times 2 (beta) on three machines (3*2*3=18) which is not fun to keep just roughly synchronised... Is there a way to manually get the .plist-file and put it on the new machine, I'm not sure where the panel-positions are stored.
  23. Right now panels can snap into place horizontally but if I have a large screen it would be nice if I could put several panels side by side and then they would move when I resize the window.
  24. Is there any way to increase the size of the panels? I undock them and show them on my second monitor, but the icons and text are both so small that I cannot read them without magnification.
  25. Hello Team Affinity, I am facing this weird issue running both Affinity Designer & Photo with dual monitor setup. I usually keep my Application window on my primary display and arrange the necessary tools panel in my secondary display. Everything works perfectly fine but, after every week or 10 days the display gets swapped actually. I mean the Application window moves to the secondary monitor and the tools panels moves to my primary with the exact panel arrangement. Here are the screenshots of the issue. Below image describes the layout I usually set, After a week or so, when I launch Designer or Photo, the results look like the below screenshot. I have a Nvidia GTX 750TI 2GB Graphics card with latest drivers installed. And I did not perform any driver update in between. If you need any further information to fix my issue, please do let me know. Thank you Vishnu Raghav B
