  1. Haven't found any topic on this. Is there any plans improving the Styles Panel similar to Text Style or Table formats and adding features like: - adding the option to edit the styles, - option to update the style by current selection, - ability to apply the style to selected group (only possible to apply to object but not the group), - maybe add a current document category, This would improve the linked editing capability of all shapes with the same style. For instance it would change the curve width or color of all shapes sharing the style. For instance if there are a lot of icons. Now you need to select individual icons in the publisher document and change them one by one. Thank you for any info.
  2. Is there a way now to organize the colour panel better? I have hundreds of colour swatch groups that I would like to organize better than the current one long list approach. Nameable folders or something similar would be ideal. Cheers for any response. 🙂
  3. Right clicking a swatch created on any document palette created after the first one will no longer have the Edit, Rename and Delete menu entries active. See the image below: Steps to reproduce: Create a new document Create a new document palette, name it 1 for easy reference Create a new global swatch, make it spot to enable the Rename Spot menu too Right click the newly created swatch See that you can edit, rename and delete this swatch Create a new document palette, name it 2 for easy reference Create a new spot global swatch Right click this new swatch, notice the disabled menu items Creating further palettes and swatches Notice the problem continues Video guide below: Swtaches menu.mp4 Thanks!
  4. Hey there, very similar to another much older thread, I have a problem with filter/adjustment windows opening on a different display, a pen display to be precise, instead of the expected main screen. Most of the time, especially when precision is needed, the pen display is turned off but remains connected to the computer. Resetting Studio, as suggested in the mentioned thread, only works if done via Master Reset (holding a specific key while launching the application), and even then only the first time a filter/adjustment is clicked. After the first time it behaves as above. It's incredibly frustrating because, you have to switch focus to another screen and turn it on (because it doesn't matter whether it's on or off!) while you're working on the main one every single time and leave it running just to move the properties window over to the main screen. Some information about hardware: OS: Windows 10 Home, Version 21H2 Pen Tablet Modell: HUION Kamvas 13 GT-133 Pen Tablet Driver: Driver_15.7.4.183 The expected main screen is connected via DVI, the pen display is connected via HDMI + USB for input. Something I noticed: The expected main screen is shown as »2«, the pen display as »1« in the system's monitor settings – but I can't reassign these numbers, and I'm not sure they actually reflect the primary and secondary monitors. I assume that the taskbar would actually act as an indicator of what the primary and secondary monitors are, and since it's on my regular monitor, I assume it was the primary monitor. If anyone could help me solve this problem it would be greatly appreciated as it is slowly but steadily draining my creative juices. 🪫 Cheers! Edit: This affects the whole suite, not just Photo!
  5. Now there are two form groups. One with "Custom", one with "Selbst definiert". The latter appears after creating the first custom field: Furthermore the two groups flip panel position after deleting at least one custom fields: 2023-09-04_2.2.0.1986-beta_fields-panel-double-group.mp4 After deleting all custom fields the "german" group disappears and now the tooltip for the plus-button has a wrong label:
  6. When using the transform panel to select a point of origin for scaling, etc., the selected or active point isn't highlighted correctly. The top/left default is larger and solid white, but when you select any other point, the size of the point changes, but not the color. I believe the expected behavior is that both the size and color would change to indicate the selected origin, and that would work. However, I would love it if the highlight color (used here and other parts of the UI) was user selectable in settings. Hopefully this isn't a re-post; searched, didn't find the same issue. Thanks. Affects: v2 and beta, all three apps OS: Windows 11 (22H2, 16GB RAM, 11 Gen i7) Hardware Acceleration: Enabled (no change without)
  7. I've noticed a few issues with the width of the panels effectively "forgetting" their last width and changing on their own when I start the program or sometimes when returning from APhoto or AD. For example I had one panel change by itself to about 6 inches wide - I definitely never set it to that. I just did some work in APub using the Designer persona. When I went back into the Publisher persona, the panel was set very narrow. I widened it again and I actually cannot set it this narrow manually: This is as narrow as I can set it manually: So there appears to be a bug in the panels somewhere. Has anyone else noticed this? It's not a major problem, but I don't recall seeing this in V1.
  8. Related: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/37597-ad-export-persona-item-has-duplicate-paths/ Change the message of the error icon to the specific error: If the artboard was named twice the same, say e.g. "The Artboard/Path-Name is used multiple times". The actual message ("The Item has duplicate Paths") indicates Paths that are exactly the same (not only the name) and do overlap or such thing. Greetings, Johannes
  9. Hi. Previously there are request about symbol management here https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/45462-assetsymbol-management/ Well, it might be harder/ takes longer to implement. But for next update, can you guys at least making a way to delete multiple symbols at once (from symbol library). Currently doing right-click -> delete -> confirm is very tedious for me as I can have like 100 - 150 symbols at once. Thanks.
  10. In the layers panel, when you disable (not remove) some effects on a certain object it might be worth keeping the "fx" icon in the panel but maybe with a red "X" through it so you know there are some effects applied to it but are just disabled. That way with a click on that "fx" with a red "X" you can toggle the effects on and off right from the layers panel. Currently when I disable the effects, the icon disappears and I don't know which objects I have tried some effects on... This way, at a glance you are reminded which elements have effects applied but are turned off.
  11. I selected Symbols from Studio but the panel is not showing, although it is checked. I've used Symbols in the past, so I don't know why it's not appeared this time. I'm using V1.10.1142 of Designer.
  12. The Auto Distribute options under Arrange panel is disabled. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong, or if this is a bug. How do I enable it? I am using the free trial v1.4 i believe on OS X 10.11.3. Kindly help.
  13. Can you designate an exclusive panel for what has to do with the administration of the "artboards"?, something like what illustrator has. Just so you don't accumulate a bunch of "Artboards", each with its own layers (be it a few or a lot) in the layers panel. Some way to show, in the layers panel, only the layers corresponding to the "Artboard" in which we are working, for greater order.
  14. Hello all. I just upgraded to 1.9.1 The upgrade came with free assets and I downloaded those with 1.9.1 I followed the instructions on the AP site and went to find the assets panel by going to view>studio>assets...and nothing happens and I cannot open the assets panel. I have the previous version of AP on my Mac and the assets panel pops up with out a problem. Also missing in 1.9.1 when I go into the tone-mapping persona are the presets that were included with AP when I first purchased it two upgrades ago. So, here are my questions: -Why can't I access the assets panel? -Which folder does AP use to download assets on a PC? -What happened to the tone mapping presets? -How can I return AP to the default settings? -Is it possible to download to the an earlier version of AP? And if so, must I uninstall AP 1.9.1 before installing a previous version? Thank you for any suggestions or information that you might have to help with these issues
  15. It would improve ease of use if the Procedural Texture Filter panel would resize to display more Custom Inputs (up to a reasonable limit) without requiring scrolling or resizing the panel. I am using a number of Dave’s macros which create Procedural Texture Filters with multiple Custom Inputs (up to 8). This either requires scrolling through the visible list three inputs or resizing the panel to almost screen to height due to the Equations region. The macros add significant attribute based selection capability to Affinity Photo, so hoping the team can make some accommodations for them. Thanks
  16. As I started to use the symbol panel on all branding projects, the amount of the elements gets longer and longer. We use a very transparent and specific / detailed naming system which fails already after 10 characters as you can not read the name in the symbol panel. It would be so helpful to have the symbol panel with the same simple feature to see the panel as a list. See attachments. -- Thank you!
  17. I took my stereo Denon and recreated its amplifier with knobs, displays, legs, ports, LEDs, grills (that was the hardest) in Affinity Designer.
  18. Using the colour picker in the "magnified" mode, the RGB values on the document (e.g. fill layer) are different from the same colour in the swatches panel. For example, in a new layer filled with R:242 G:13 B:13 the corresponding colour on the swatches panel is R:220 G:51 B:17. It's the same for every choice. Is the swatches panel able to show the right colour? Thank you
  19. Just purchased Photo and Designer and could use some clarification on a couple of things. Getting the free (thank you) included "Fine Liner Affinity Brushes" by The Artifex Forge brushes working was a bit of a challenge. Just double clicking them loaded them into Photo, not designer, because Windows has apparently associated the afbrushes extension with Photo, not Designer. I've since learned they don't show up in the Photo Brushes list because they're vector brushes and won't work. So why does Photo import them instead of serving up a dialog box explaining why it won't import them? More importantly to me right now: Since they don't show up in the Photo Brushes list, how do I delete them from Photo? The collection of Panels at the side is apparently called the Studio? It's nice that that can be detached from the main image window on its own, and resized, but it's mildly infuriating that selecting a panel within the studio immediately resizes it to its default width. Do I report that as a bug? Is there a toggle somewhere I'm not finding? The Studio maintains it's new width when resized while still attached to the main image window. Thanks. It's clear that these programs have a lot of powerful features, but there looks to be quite a learning curve.
  20. Hello, Fellow UI designer here, just wanted to suggest a few tweaks to the layers panel, 1. Add an even smaller thumbnail setting and maybe even a no thumbnail setting (Not for me but I think some people might like it). The UI is already scaled quite bigger than I'd like and wastes a lot of space from the actual view window. 2. Add the ability to copy paste things from the layers panel, for example: If I hold down CTRL and drag a layer it should let me make a copy of it. It's different than duplicate because it allows me to put the copy anywhere I want directly. 3. Lock icon in the layer itself, it's annoying having to click the layer and then going up and click the lock icon, I already use the shortcut to lock thing but still, annoying. Maybe make the icon appear alongside the checkmark icon as you hover the cursor on top of the layer? I hope you address this in the upcoming updates! Thanks.
  21. (I suspect this has been asked before but I can't find the topic after searching, so...) I've assigned shortcuts to various Panels: Layers, Swatches, etc. When I hit, for example F5, I want it to make the Swatches Panel active. However, if the panel is already open and not active then Affinity (Publisher) closes the panel and I need to hit F5 again to make it visible and active. My question: is there a way of assigning a keyboard shortcut that will toggle whether a panel is active without closing it? Thanks for any help!
  22. Would be great to have access to Icons8 library of icons right in Designer.
  23. This sounds silly but makes a very big difference to the feel of the app. When dragging & dropping I frequently don’t know if I’m actually doing it. Issue 1: I don’t know how long to hold the layer for. I need to know when I can start dragging a layer - however, Affinity offers almost no visual feedback Everywhere else in iOS, the item you’re holding ‘pops’ off the screen so you know the item can now be dragged, rather than scrolling your list. See the GIFs attached and let me know if you can spot the moment the layer goes from held to draggable. It’s possible in affinity, but so much more obvious in Procreate. Proposed solution: Have the layer ‘pop’ off the screen the moment it is dragable. Issue 2: I have a long list of layers, and I’m on a multi-touch device, I would normally hold the layer with one finger, and use my other fingers to scroll through the list to find the new spot for my held layers - but that doesn’t work here. (Try it in the files app, or procreate for comparison.) Proposed solution: make the layers palette respond to multi-touch.
  24. IU'm converting from Photoshop and struggling to understand something - In the colour panel, there are 2 colour circles which appear to correspond to a 'fill' colour, and a 'stroke' colour - whereas in Photoshop they relate to Foreground and Background colours. Does Affinity Photo have a concept of Foreground and Background colour or not? In Photoshop I can create a gradient from the foreground colour to the background colour - how do I do the equilavent in Affinity Photo? I used the colour dropper tool to select 2 colours in a photo, but as soon as I switch to the gradient tool I don't seem to be able to use the colours I picked, as a white gradient fills the entire layer and I cannot find an option to go from Fill to Stroke colour.
  25. Hi, I've been working with Affinity Designer for a few weeks now. Coming from Adobe Suite CS6 there's is a lot I like about Affinity Designer, but also a few things that would make working in AD just that little bit better. One of those things is that Align and Distribute doesn't have its own panel. Maybe it Align and Distribute could be combined with the Transform panel (see image) ... or just could have a panel on it own. greetings, Ivo
