  1. I am new to the professional use of Affinity in conjunction with the Nik Collection. After the automatic installation of the latest Nik Collection, the plugins are displayed in connection with an image, but they have no function (plugin will not start). Does anyone have any idea what has gone wrong here? Technical data: - Affinity Version 2.3.1 - Nik collection version 6 - MacOS Sonoma 14.2.1 - MacBook Pro Thanks for your help! Tom
  2. Hi there, does anyone know if the "Google" Version of NIK Software (Color Efex4, ......) is still working with AP V2? thanks for your response Michael
  3. AF Photo crashes when using NIK plug-ins. Problem shows when I am using and manipulating control points in the NIK plug-in. It is most common when using the Dfine 2 plug-in, but can happen with other plug-ins as well. The crash does not produce a debug file, nor is there any restore point. After multiple crashes, I've given up and reverted to using an old version of Photoshop to get the work done. Version: 1.9.1.179 Edition Windows 10 Pro Version 20H2 Installed on ‎2020-‎08-‎01 OS build 19042.804 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0 Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900KF CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz Installed RAM 32.0 GB Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, Driver 457.51 Crash occurs when Hardware Acceleration is either on or off. I've tried both. Plug-in image window functions in a more stable manner when hardware acceleration is off.
  4. If I open a JPG image (portrait mode) in Affinity Photo & then select Filters - Plugins - Nik Collection - Color Efex Pro 4 the image appears in landscape mode! I have tried rotating the image prior to applying the filter but it makes no difference. It works fine in Photoshop CC 2017 but not in Affinity. Any suggestions?
  5. I have just installed AP on a new machine and am setting up my preferences. Previously I installed the NIK FX plugins in the specific order I wanted them to show in the dropdown menu. I just installed the entire NIK folder as one and they appeared in the dropdown menu in alphabetical order. So, I removed them (though they weren't actually removed after restarting AP until I restarted my machine), and installed them one-by-one in my preferred order (as I remembered doing on my previous machine). However, they have re-ordered themselves alphabetically. Has AP remembered and applied the order from the initial installation? How can I get around this? The reason I want them ordered is because I use the Silver FX plugin a lot, but the others infrequently, and it's towards the bottom of the list. Thanks.
  6. Just purchased Nik Collection 4 after updating my Mac to Monterey operating system. My older version of Nic Collection was incompatible with Monterey. Now that I have upgraded, seems I cannot load it onto Affinity Photo (latest version). Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kenny
  7. Has anone gotten NIK Photoshop plugins to work with Affinity? I've been trying to get SilverEffects to work but it won't even come up in the filter/plugins window. Help Please!
  8. Hi I have installed the new NIK4 collection trial. I have set them up as per attached. However, when I go to plugins in the APhoto drop down when an image is loaded, nothing shows up. Can anyone help pleas asap! Cheers
  9. Nik Collection 4 was released today (June 2, 2021) and the install procedure has changed. I found the steps at the following URL: https://help-nikcollection4.dxo.com/install_activate I hope this helps someone avoid the frustration getting the Nik Collection 4 installed to Affinity Photo. I was fouled up because I tried to follow the steps for Nik 2.5 and 3.0. However, the new release is installed for Affinity Photo differently. Edit: By the way did a quick test and Nik Viveza worked fine. Peace
  10. Hey folks, I'm facing the issue that I can't use any Plugin in Affinity Photo anymore. I used Hemi and Nik before on my late 2012 MacBook Pro, but I switched some weeks ago to the M1 Mac mini. As nothing happened when choosing the Plugin beside of "Plugin" was mentioned as step in the protocol I have done the following: - Uninstall Affinity Photo (Apple AppStore Version) - Empty the trash bin - Purchase Affinity Photo for a second time via Serif website - Download dmg installer and re-install Affinity Photo - Add all plugin folders and check the box to allow unknown Plugins - restart Affinity Photo - Open a random JPG - try out and see that nothing changed Starting Topaz Denoise or any NIK app independently works fine, but I want to reduce the steps of interchanging between apps. Any hints or did I just throw additional 28€ to the bin?
  11. I installed The Nik Collection as a plug-in in Affinity Photo. Attached is screen shot of AP with Nik opened. As one can see Nik is too small to use. Any ideas to fix this problem? NIK 2.pdf
  12. My Nik plugins are greyed out on some images but not on others. I recently scanned some old B&W negs to JPEG images and was trying to use my installed Nik plugins in Affinity Photo but they are greyed out. Other JPEG images I have in my folders work fine and all the Nik plugins are available for both B&W and Colour images. It seems that all my recent scans will not work with Nik plugins. I presume I've done something wrong but I've no idea what that is. The only thing I've noticed that seems new is that when I open those problematic B&W scans in Affinity Photo I get a window with a message saying 'Assigned Profile - Affinity Photo assigned your working profile, (Greyscale D50) to this unprofiled document' which disappears after a short while. I don't really know what this means or if it's significant in relation to the Nik Plugins issue. Can anyone help? Thanks!
  13. I'm hoping someone can help me. Before I updated to AP 1.8.5.703 all my plugins worked just fine. Last week I had used both Filter Forge 9 and the DXO free version of the NIK Collection. After I updated this weekend, they were all grayed out in the menu with a pixel layer selected. Going to the Preferences section showed the plugins still shown as 'working' in green and still has the check box for Allow Unknown selected. Yet Affinity Photo can't access them for whatever reason. I removed all the plugins and redid the links to both Filter Forge and NIK. I managed to get the Filter Forge to start working again. However, no matter what I tried to do, I can't get the NIK Collection to work again. Did anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions on how I can get them working from inside Affinity Photo again? I did check and the programs themselves still worked as standalone programs so there aren't any issues with the NIK Collection themselves and I have not updated NIK. Won't be updating because the latest update of the NIK Collection removed something I used. The only changes have been updating Affinity Photo and the latest Windows 10 Update. I need my NIK Collection back.
  14. I have Affinity photo latest v of 1.8 and DxO labs / nik collection 3.0 What are the proper steps / How do i create a smart object using Nik filter in Photoshop Elements so i can re-edit the Nik Fillter in Affinity Photo? I assume the smart object has to be created in a photoshop like app. What I've done so far - Opened a raw file in Elements 2019 - Applied a Nik filter (say Analog - Camera 4) - Saved the file as a PSD file - Dragged (not open) the psd file to the affinity photo software - blank page - I selected the layer, then Affinity filter - Nik - Analog - The Nik app opens for further editing but the the settings are not the same as the Camera 4 (or any filter preset) but is close. I can re-apply stuff and/or perform further edits - But it is not the same as double clicking the nik filter layer and re-edit the exact same preset settings w/in the Nik filter tool the 1st time around; Doing a Nik filter in Affinity photo and re-selecting for edit does similar behavior - The goal is to re-edit the exact same nik filter settings again (e.g., i want to make some subtle changes based on the print) - Since Affinity Photo 1.8 supports smart objects and since all of the Nik webinars show doubling clicking the Photoshop Nik filter as a smart object to make changes to the existing applied Nik filter, there has to be a way to do similar (re-edit the same Nik Filter settings) in Affinity Photo .. whether i have to use a photoshop tool ish (elements) or something else to get this to work
  15. Hi all, DxO just released version 3 of the NIK collection. There is a new plugin, Perspective Efex, which can correct perspective errors / problems. It is marked as "unknown" in the Affinity Photo plugin list, and in fact, it does not work, as the plugin declares itself. It tells me, that the plugin resizes the image, which is not supported by the host application (Affinity Photo). Do you think, you can make this new plugin work in the future?
  16. As a plugin to AP I am running the vintage edition of the NIK Collection, back from the days when Google owned the company. When I open a photo through the plugin function from within AP, the ruler descriptions are missing: When I open the App from the NIK Collection directly, the descriptions are showing: How can I get the missing descriptive text to show in the plugin as well ?
  17. As an experiment I tried opening a copy of a RAW file directly with the NIK RAW PreSharpener. Right click on the RAW file, Open with, and then navigate to the SHP3RPS executable (64bit Windows). It all seemed to work fine until I tried to save the file. The save errored and said it would attempt to restore the original. Has anyone else tried this and managed to get the save to work?
  18. hello just bought Affinity photo and I'd like to install my NIK suite and (DXO if it is possible) / I'm using NIK 2 and DXO LAB 2 when I open preferences I cannot find the right file to add in my Mac. regards, Damish
  19. My Nik Collection plug ins were installed and working, but have vanished & Affinity Photo doesn't "see" them anymore. Mac OS Catalina 10.15.4 8 GB RAM (I know... I have one of the non-upgradable iMacs) Affinity Photo 1.8.3 Nik Collection 1.2.11? (when it was a free option from Google) I had the plug ins up and running and was using them with great success. With some on-going computer issues, I re-set Affinity Photo's user defaults (Reset User Defaults from Preferences > Miscellaneous) in an attempt to reset the Performance Preferences to default. Now, the Nik plug ins are missing. I have reinstalled from the Nik DMG and they still don't show up. I have re-started Affinity Photo at least half a dozen times to no avail. I'm at a loss and totally open to suggestions.
  20. Nik Collection just prompted me to install an upgrade to version 2.3.0.0. I am on Affinity Photo 1.7.3 and I want to avoid another disaster like what we experienced about a year ago with Nik just bombing on Affinity Photo. That was only changed when the finger pointing and shoulder shrugging caused a user community sh*t storm. However, I don't have time for the same thing this time around. Can anybody tell me if this is compatible BEFORE I install the upgrade, please? If it is not compatible, when can we expect it to be? Thanks. PS. I am on Mac OS Catalina.
  21. Hi all, I just took a clean install with macOS Mojave on my MacBook Pro as it started to be really slow and full of old crap I never use anymore and I only wants to use it for creative work anyway.. but it means I don't have Photoshop installed anymore..and I would prefer not to. Can I still install the NIK plugins and use with Affinity Photo plugins, even if I don't have the Photoshop plugin folder on my Mac? If yes, can anyone please explain how? :-)
  22. Simple question, but very difficult to find a thread devoted to this topic, given the various versions of the Nik plugins in use and the various versions of Affinity Photo in use. Does the current version of the Nik plugins available from DxO (Nik Collection 2) work on the current production version of Affinity Photo or on the current beta.?
  23. Since updating to 1.7.1.404 (Photo) on Windows 7 when using some of the NIK plugins, they start to load but then it turns to grey (the plugin screen) & Photo is then stuck & the only way out it to can Photo (end the process via the task manager). This has happened with the HDR & SilverFX. Others seem to be ok. I am using the old (free) Google version of NIK. Julie :-)
