  1. So... After a few trials and errors, I have the 3rd proof back from the printers. Ohhh My Strawberry Monkey started a little while back as single comic strips but felt it wasn't the right direction. So its turned into a Children's book (under 5's) it's aimed at pre-schoolers. There is so much more to the story and I'm sure I'll tell it one day. I wrote and put the book together in Affinity Designer and yes I'm looking forward to publisher, which no doubt would've helped but it worked. Anyway, the next step is to send a copy to a few publishers and I'm also considering self-publishing. There will also be a few copies available, so you lucky people get to experience the first, (hopefully) in a series of many. So if you've got young kids and would like a copy leave a comment...Thinking of you Matt P and Chris B... (Is this also the first Children's book to come out of Designer?) Allan
  2. Hi All, I've had this idea for a while and finally i've got a few ideas up and its going in the right direction. Think clumsy Monkey who does silly things or just doesn't think... and the catchphrase with Jiraffe. May give it a new direction and turn it into in to a kids book at some point, or do i keep it adult based with interest for kids??? Probably would go down the route of Peppa Pig, Hey Duggee if it was aimed at kids. SO need to think about that but maybe keep it as is and look to get these published in a mag or online somewhere?? I still remember my comics as a kid and reading things like Hagar the horrible in the newspaper.. Anyway, thoughts & suggestions welcomed... Here are a few from the Ohhh, My Strawberry Monkey series Allan
  3. Hey Affininators, Yes that's a real word. Use it in a sentence you say? 'Don't make me Affiniate you". Yep you heard it first here.... :P Anyway, I've had this idea for a long time before I knew about Affinity Designer so was using another illustration software. Didn't really get to grips with the concept but discovering Designer certainly helped bring this to life in how comfortable I felt using the software. Still progressing and learning and very inspired by the great work on here, Retrograde, Paolo, Giant Lobster, Eejits, Flokk are just a few.... So the first is being posted tomorrow (hopefully on a weekly basis) on Social Media as this was designed with Instagram in mind but I will be posting on other SM as well. So if you want to stay up to date, show some support and follow 'The Adventures of My Strawberry Monkey' click the links and hit follow or like... Instagram Facebook Twitter Stay tuned as part two of my plan is coming.... ;) Thanks, Allan
  4. Shot on a Panasonic G7, 50mm samyang lens of the nephew done in Camden, London. Used the haze filter as it was a sunny day, did wonders to the pic... Must admit i'm a B&W addict.. Allan
  5. This look was originally created using a preset in LR a while back. Thought I'd manually try and recreate this look in Affinity Photo. Actually, I think the result is a lot a lot better than the preset. Tomatoes on my fridge splash of water from the sink and light from the kitchen window, amazing results compared to the original. Impressed with the way Affinity handled this for me and love the look achieved. Inspiration is all around us, this was one of the first I took when I got my camera and still one of my favs. I was just wandering around the flat looking for something to snap and decided to open the fridge and grab these out, think they're called Piccolo Tomatoes go get some they're delicious... :) Going to attempt to go back to Affinity Photo and re-edit some of my favs... will post them.
