  1. I purchased Affinity Photo for multi-layered pixel art creation, but I'm finding that I cannot use the Merge Layers or Rasterize layer features because they automatically choose a filtering algorithm which causes blurring. How can I fix this? This currently is a deal-breaker for me unfortunately. I've tried the following: Using Nearest rendering in the Performance settings (this causes everything to look as I expect on the canvas while editing the document, but the blurring problem occurs as soon as a multi-layer document is merged, exported/flattened, or a layer is rasterized) Choosing Nearest filtering during PNG export. For some scenarios this appears to work around the issue, but for general purposes it's not a solution since I frequently need to be able to merge selected layers together as part of my workflow without exporting the entire document I still cannot find any way to merge layers or rasterize selected layers using Nearest filtering. The result is that my artwork frequently is distorted/blurred from what I'm seeing in the on-screen canvas/display. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide
  2. Hi there, I have multiple files and I want to join them together now. I can't copy and paste, or anything else. Merge files isn't possible or am I missing something? I work on different files so the software doesnt fill the ram to quickly (only 4gb). Now i want to join all the pages to create a single pdf and I don't know how to do it. Thanks edit: please change this to the discussion forum. Didn't notice that i posted on bugs.
  3. I have two Publisher documents that I would like to merge, or certain pages (a whole document of regular pages, master pages or any variation) that I'd like to add / import from one into the other document. Again, any variation on it being a full Publisher document, a PDF or just master pages, but I'd like some way to re-use master pages without having to do a document A copy, open Document B to paste, then back to Document A to copy next master and back to Document B to paste ... times however many master pages etc that I have. Thanks!
  4. Is there any way to merge shapes the same way one would in AI via the Pathfinder toolset for Designer on the IPad Pro? I don’t want to use the Add tool and make everything one shape and I don’t want to Break all of my shapes up by using the Divide tool. I want to merge from the top down. Where the shapes above define the shape below it. Any help would be appreciated. Essentially I want to prepare a file to be ready to silk screen. I want to be able break out shapes based on their color. Is that possible? see the attached images. As an example.
  5. Hey, I have 3 pictures as tiff opened Affinity. Those are all taken with bracketing and was trying to convert those to HDR. I know this is kind of stypid but seems like there ain't option for merge layers as HDR only open as file. It ain't hard job me to just open those files that is true but was thinking is there change to add option for merge layers?

    AD merge layers

Hi. New to AD IOS (and to any vector app) and can’t figure out how to merge x3 pixel layers. Can someone help please?
  7. I've noticed this feature being asked about in other threads and wanted to share my desire for batch merging to HDR in Affinity Photo. As someone who does a lot of HDRI work I've gone through my fair share of different software searching for the best results (Photomatix, HDR Expose, Dynamic Photo HDR along with pano stacking with Autopano Giga and PTGui etc). After purchasing Affinity Photo I've found that in most if not all cases it's HDR merging has the best automatic ghost removal and processing of any app I've used, yet it's the only one without some sort of batch tools for multiple stacks. Currently I am manually sorting through 500+ separate stacks for a project I'm working on and would greatly appreciate (as well as pay for) a means of running these through a script to automate it all.
  8. How to you merge shapes in affinity designer? That's the result i did with "merge" in illustrator and like to achieve: that's the result i got with affinity designer, add and combine:
  9. Since Publisher currently does not support merging I was wondering what sort of options we would have for a workaround? Is there any documentation of the format of afpub? I was thinking I could potentially write a tool to generate a file that would walk a data source, create elements, size them and place them on pages, then apply the appropriate master page to the page. From there I could open it in Publisher and modify it appropriately. Alternatively is there (or will there be) api or plugin support where we could develop such a plugin independently? I am developing a Card game and being able to merge from my content source database (or csv export) would make this a perfect product.
  10. Merge Selected doesn't do anything, either using the Pencil or my finger (three layers selected) on iPad Pro. Merge Visible seems to be working fine. Never used Merge Down before, so can't really say if that's as expected or not.
  11. One of my tasks requires quickly regenerating a set of images (sometimes hundreds) based on a template. This is currently accomplished either with Adobe Indesign or Adobe Photoshop with Data Merge. I set up a CSV with columns which are attached to layers within the document. There are three options: 1.) Set the Text content of a Layer 2.) Set the Visibility of a Layer On/Off 3.) Set the contents of a Layer to a File Once you have the layers attached to columns and the CSV imported, you can preview each row, set the display to a specific row and export one/all images based on the data in each row. I could identify several more options that I would love to have (set the fill color of a layer) but the minimum needed would be Visibility and Text. Unfortunately, I cannot abandon the Adobe products until I have another way to accomplish this merging of data. I have not found any alternative software to accomplish this merging, so I am willing to bet there is a market for it. Inkscape has a plugin that nearly does it, but it is not implemented well and does not work with all shapes.
  12. Hi, I find myself wanting to connect two different open curves to merge them, but so far can't find a way to do this. Basically what I'm looking for is some tool like the binary add-operator for closed path, but then for combining all anchor points of curve A to the anchor points of curve B. Or something like 'close curve' but then with two different curves. Does anybody here perhaps know if there is a way to do this in Affinity Designer?
  13. Is it possible to merge pixel layers in designer?
  14. I need to do this so I can make a pixel layer to add some texture without the various shapes showing lines/edges. I';ve succewssfully done this with the rest of the image as you can see in the attached photo. But those were all single shapes. I made this alien's body in 4 different shapes but I want them completely merged. I thought I could group them and add new pixel layer... but no matter where I place the pixel layer... it's just not right. How do I merge these 4 shapes into 1 shape? Not just group them. I feel like it's an obvious answer....
  15. Independent of "Toggle Source Preview" being ON or OFF, an not wanted/needed Source Layer can not be deleted. The complete Focus Merge process must be done again . May be I am interpreting the trash bin in a wrong way, but what else should it be for...? I also tried to drag and drop the unwanted Focus Merge layer (the blue, selected one) into the trash bin, but this didn't help either... Greetings, Roland
  16. Hi guys I sent 200 files to Focus Merge, 1/10 second later I realised there is something missing. Once Focus Merge has started, it is impossible to stop it. Except you brutally kill it... Is this a bug or an enhancement request? Not sure, where to post this... Would be nice, if it will become fixed in one of the next versions. Cheers, Roland
  17. Hi everyone, I've recently switched to Affinity Photo and am globally very happy with the program. However, I'm noticing something strange: The effect of a Live Filter sharpening layer (any of the three: clarity, UMF, high pass) seems to be dampened when I merge the layer down or flatten the image. The effect isn't completely lost, its just reduced, but visibly so. This isn't a jpeg compression thing, because the reduction is visible there in Affinity Photo, before any exporting or saving. I'm on a Windows 10 system, if for some reason that should be important. I've tried putting the sharpening filter immediately above the pixel layer, putting it at the very top, merging each layer as a separate step, just exporting without flattening... Am I doing something wrong? Has anyone else observed this? And if so, is there a workaround for it? Thanks to all in advance!

    photos not merging

I just got Affinity and started to use it. At first photos were merging fine as a photo stack or HDR merge, but now the photos start to merge and then don't complete. Ive tried closing and reopening the program, Ive tried shutting down and restarting the computer, nothing has worked to get Affinity working again. this is the main reason I purchased this program, so I could merge photos! Please help. Thank you
  19. Hi Often times we have to deal with bad vectors where there are many nodes stacked on top of each other, it would nice if we could just select all the nodes and "merge" them into a single node. Does this feature already exists? Thank you
  20. Hello & HNY! I have been experimenting with the HDR merge and Focus merge modules and I'm experiencing a problem that Affinity Photo does not align the pictures correct. I can't find a way to align the pictures manually. Maybe I've not found the feature or this is currently not possible. Thanks, Rolf

    Merge Layers not working properly

I exported a photo and only some of the image exported - most was cut out and blank (note: upload failed -200 on the 5.3 mb JPEG file for some reason and gave up trying to get the 358 mb AFphoto file to upload). I narrowed the issue down to problems with merging, both merge selected and visible layers seem to result in similar cut-out images. The Lens Distortion layer appears to be most problematic although funky things happen with just the Panorama pixel and adjustment layer e.g. hue. Any suggestions? Thanks!!
  22. Hi, I mocked up a few ideas that I think would improve the functionality of the Photo merge tools by making it easier to switch between them and add images directly. Say you drag a few images into one of Photo's merging tools, only to realize you opened the wrong one. The commands are grouped in the menu, two have keyboard shortcuts right next to one another, and the tools have similar layouts, making this a fairly easy mistake to make. Rather than having to hit Cancel, open the intended merge tool, then relocate the images you want to merge, what if you could just switch to it, with the images you added still in place? The functionality of the Batch tool seems different enough to warrant it remaining separate. To keep the various merging options visible to the user, it might be best to keep their individual items in the File menu. Each would just open the unified interface to the appropriate tool. It would be great to be able to drag-and-drop directly to the Images pane rather than having to open the file picker, then drop to it, then click OK. The visual styling of the window widgets is a bit confusing; the brighter widgets are disabled. This is contrary to most GUI conventions, including how the OK button is disabled in the tools themselves. If the Panorama tool isn’t resizable because the panorama previews would have to be re-rendered (a processor-intensive task), just fix the width of the preview pane while allowing the Images pane to expand. There is some ambiguity in the Panorama tool when you have stitched multiple panoramas together. If you don't explicitly select all of them in the preview pane before you hit OK, only the last selected one will build. A different button label or counter tallying how many panoramas will be rendered (Render 2 Panoramas) might be sufficient. NTH: a way to tell which images constitute which panorama after the panorama preview is generated. This could look something like the mockup below. Ideally, the number displays next to the panorama preview would handle discontiguous stitches nicely, so if you used three of 4 images out of sequence, something like “1 – 2, 4” would appear next to the thumbnail. 23. Hey guys, I am hobbyist user, so it's not a great deal if you cannot help me. I am trying to stack several photos, but to have the opposite of "object removal using stacks". I have four photos taken from the same point with my two friends sitting at the table and exchanging position between each shot. What I want to achieve is to have each of them several times in the final image. If I use Median stacking, then almost everything disappears from the photo with only table remaining and some ghosting. So I need to use masking, but that's where it gets a bit complicated. I tried Outlier stacking but that produces some artefacts and needs a bit refining, for which I also need some masking. For the stack I have live stacking checked. So I guess the question is how to most efficiently create masks from and for each stack layer? I figured I would select part of the one friend on one photo, e.g. hand, head and part of the body, and then I would apply the resulting mask to all other photos in the stack. But I would need to add all masks for all body parts to all photos... So that makes it a bit daunting. Not helping is that when I Alt-click on a layer and start selecting using Flood select tool that the selection outline is shifted several pixels to the left in comparison to photo itself. Also, I cannot get the tolerance to right amount; it always selects something from the background or not enough of what I need. Also, which blending mode would suit me the most? Do you have some other suggestion how to achieve what I want? Thanks! P.S. I've found that if I stack only two photos and then use Standard deviation as the stack operator that produces black areas where the photos are the same and some type of blending in the areas where there are differences. That seems like a good starting point for a mask. How to create a mask from such stack result?
  24. In AP 1.6.1 I have a live Curves adjustment with changes to the Alpha channel, nested inside a mask. This does affect alpha channel of the mask, and indirectly what the masks makes transparent. I would like to destructively merge the adjustment into the mask it affects. Clicking on the Merge button in the Curves Adjustment does nothing other than adding a new entry to the history. Please implement the feature to be able to destructively apply live adjustments to masks. To be clear I am looking for a way of getting a mask, with identical behavior as my current combination of mask with nested adjustment. As a separate feature request, please make the Merge button in the adjustment dialogs disabled in cases when it doesn't make sense, and won't actually merge anything.
  25. I recently had the good fortune of capturing a few photos of the gemini meteors and I wished to combine all of them into one image. I have 11 that are useable. How can I merge them in affinity photo? Thank you
