  1. Not sure if this is a bug (didn't happen with my previous version), but Photo now crashes when I drag and drop images from Google onto the application icon in the dock.
  2. I've been trying to recreate my character sheet for the Marvel Super Heroes RPG using publisher. On Windows 10, it causes a BSOD on save. On my Mac Pro (mid-2010) running macOS Mojave, it will cause a beachball of death after about ten to twenty minutes of use. At which point I have to power off the system and continue on the next boot. Rinse and repeat until finished. This is totally unacceptable for a pro product.

This thread is for commenting on this announcement. Please do not post bugs or problems that you find when using this version of the software in this thread, instead make a new thread in the Photo Bugs on MacOS section and questions about usage go in the Desktop Questions forum. UPDATING TO THIS VERSION (Free for existing customers) The software version can be seen on the splash screen and the About dialog (in application menu, Affinity Photo > About). If you’ve purchased from the Mac App Store— updates are done automatically next time you run your software after it is available in the Mac App Store. If this does not happen for you, open the Mac App Store app and go to the Updates page and then Store > Reload page or press CMD+R. This should hopefully force the update to show. Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world which can mean it may take up to 72 hours for your update to be available. If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store— each time you start the software it will check for updates and offer to download and install any available update, or in the application main menu there is an option Check for Updates. You can download the latest installer by logging into the affinity store here and find the order in your account and use the "download" button in there. Alternatively, this new release (and previous versions of Affinity Photo for macOS) can be downloaded from this link (that installer is NOT for Mac app store purchases and needs a product key).

  5. On MacOS Catalina Beta, running the app is blocked with system message: I am pretty sure you just need to notarize your apps. Very unlikely, but in case you have heard yet, for this video: https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2019/703/ Can you get you apps ready for Catalina by notarizing them now? 7. I was working on a document in affinity designer (on mac) and I was trying to edit a photo so I clicked on edit in affinity photo, this wasn't what I wanted and for some reason I thought it has duplicated the file and opened it in affinity photo so I closed the affinity window and clicked don't save. when I went back to designer I was horrified to see that the document was gone. Is there any way of recovering this file either through affinity or caches or temps, anything??
  8. Hi - how can you offer a publisher tool and then it is not possible to use Emojis. I have bought publisher to have free opportunities to create flyers, brochures or a book. Is there a way to change it in some settings? Thanks for fast reply Corina
  9. "Funny" that the Affinity Publisher internal update is less than 25 MB while the Affinity Designer and Photo 1.7.3 updates from the Mac App Store are over 400 MB, each. Does this reflect the actual update size for each application or is due to differences between distribution channels (Affinity Store vs Mac App Store)?
  10. Serif allow customers to test new builds of the software even before it is released to the public. These "beta" builds offer an opportunity to trial bug fixes, add support for new file formats and show off new features before they are launched. This post is designed to be an aid to knowing if you are trying the latest beta version of the Affinity software on your platform. Product Name | Platform | Beta Ver. | ====================|==================|===========| Affinity Designer | MacOS 10.9-10.14 | 1.7.3.1 | Affinity Photo | MacOS 10.9-10.14 | n/a | Affinity Publisher | MacOS 10.9-10.14 | 1.7.3.475 | MacOS Customer Betas require you to be an owner of the paid for version of the software to work. You either need to have the software installed on the same computer as the customer beta OR if you bought direct from the affinity.store website you can provide the product key to activate the beta. If you would like to try the MacOS Customer Beta build look for the top (pinned) post in each of these forums: Affinity Designer beta for Mac Affinity Photo beta for Mac Before we launch Affinity Publisher, if you are interested in trying Publisher please add a download to your store account here . The pre-release download is free and available for anyone to see if this new application will be right for you. Also keep an eye on the top pinned thread in these beta forums, for news of fixes, new file formats and additional features and early access to new build download links. Affinity Publisher Public beta for Mac Windows build numbers and Mac builds are technically independent. The third number increases each time a public release is made, the last number is generated by a build server and so not directly related to each other. I will update/edit this post as new MacOS Beta releases are added by the developers. This thread is locked and will only be posted to by Serif Staff when the beta release versions are updated. Please follow this thread if you want to know about future version changes. If you think this post has got behind announcing the MacOS beta updates and needs updating please PM me.
  11. Hey there! When switching between Affinity Designer on iPad and macOS, the font sizes change, and it's quite ugly! I'm using the Damascus font. Screenshots attached. Am I doing something wrong here?

  13. I have both Affinity Designer and Photo on my iMac. I have one annoying thing that happens that I cannot fix. When I double click an .afdesign file in Finder, it almost always opens Affinity Photo instead of Designer for anything located in the "Affinity Designer" iCloud Drive folder. The only way for me to get it to open in the right program is to specifically select it using "Open With" or by opening it from inside Designer. How do I fix this? Things of note: - In Finder the files all do say they are the "Affinity Designer Document" type. - As I mentioned, this appears to mostly occur for files stored in iCloud Drive in the Affinity Designer folder. If they are on my computer or in the documents folder (I do have that being stored on iCloud so I can access it from my iMac or MacBook), the files tend to consistently open in Affinity Designer.
  14. In the View menu on the Tool Bar "Preview Mode" is shown as Control + W, but nothing happens and my MacBook makes that 'boop' noise that it does when no action can be completed at this time. Am I pushing the wrong keys, or is this a bug?
  15. Ever since the latest update I've been experiencing a notable increase in strange, brief, intermittent glitches on my iMac monitor when quitting Affinity apps. I don't experience it much when working in the apps (sometimes when merging layers), but it's definitely most notable a few seconds after I quit the apps. It seems somehow worsened when I have a browser window open (Google Chrome, Safari, or Brave). I've also experienced some screen flickers in-app when developing RAW images in Photo, especially any format other than DNG (such as the Nikon NEF format), or when working with larger files. I'm running a dual monitor setup (iMac and a graphics drawing tablet as my second monitor), and the latest version of MacOS (Mojave Version 10.14.6). It's difficult to explain, but it looks similar to glitches experiencing with failing graphics cards, but they only flash/flicker once and then disappear until I quit the apps again, where a failed graphics card would show a permanent glitched display. I initially thought this was a graphics card issue on my side (I've dealt with that before), but after some research I found that this is a known issue between certain apps and the newer MacOS. Here's an article stating that this is is well an issue that is fairly widespread, and can be caused when running certain apps: https://pdf.wondershare.com/macos-10-14/fix-screen-flickers-on-macos-10-14.html I've tried all the steps mentioned to help eliminate the flickering (SMC reset, NVRam reset, booted in Safe Mode, and even ran First Aid on my hard drive to try and iron out any possible system bugs). I have no idea what's causing this, but it's a bit worrying. I'm scared that I'm maxing out my graphics card, or somehow putting too much strain on it when quitting the apps or something. I've even set my Display to "GPU (Basic)", the Retina Rendering to "Low Quality", and disabled "Metal Compute Acceleration" in the Affinity preferences, but it doesn't seem to be helping. I've posted in Affinity groups on Facebook and have received confirmation from a few other users/people that they are also experiencing this when using Affinity. I just want to raise awareness of this issue by posting on here, and hopefully push for a possible fix.
  16. I was trying to subtract two shapes from another and it gives an unexpected behaviour. Even if I this was a user error (which I don't think it is) this result does not match the expectation. So I'd consider this either a bug in code or in UX. This is with latest version from the MAS on 10.14.6
  17. In my former InDesign work, I used a “no break” character GREP-style on most texts so I don't have hanging words.Publisher doesn't have such features, however, it does have a regular search&replace allowing to apply a style to matched texts. “That's almost GREP-styling,” — I thought. So, here's the bug. Reproduction I've made a “no break” character style. It adds a “no break” option to a text, nothing else; very simple. Then, I do a regex search equivalent to this (actually with a longer word list and in Russian) and apply this “no break” style to all matches: \<(?i:(a |the )) The rule finds whole words with the following (regular) space symbol. With short words like articles/prepositions/pronouns, it's a perfectly valid rule for finding spaces that shouldn't be broken. What happens When selected text has “no break” style, text goes outside the column: What should happen instead Text should stay in the column (I had to insert non-breaking spaces and clear styles): Affinity Publisher 1.7.2 release version on latest macOS 10.14 release.

  19. I’m having some difficulties opening a few PSD files in Affinity Photo : the application instantly crashes. Meanwhile… Affinity Designer does open the file without any problem ? Even saving the files as Affinity Designer files, opening them in Affinity Photo crashes the application. 11 low.psd
  20. Since the beginning when you work in full screen on any Affinity App, double clicking a file on the Finder doesn't correctly set the focus on the App. The application is indeed active but it doesn't switch to the correct screen. This is quite jarring since all other applications do this correctly. Most of the time I double clic a second time before remembering and then you can't simply hit cmd + tab since the app is indeed focused just not on the right screen. I don't understand if this is by design or an oversight since you always open files from the Application and not the Finder.
  21. Hello world, My last week's Bug is not yet answered upon, today I stumbled accross an even weirder behaviour which I captured on Video. AP 1.7.1 duplicated a large chunk of text at the very bottomn of my text frames and reflows it into the next frame if I create one. This is reproducible on frames where it appears, and no changing the text / editing / re-formatting that i do removes this problem. The original and duplicated text are in symc, If I change it it changes in both frames … Please help – text management should be more relilable in an Publisher … Thanks, --Thomas Bildschirmvideo aufnehmen 2019-08-15 um 18.18.26.mov
  22. I am using Mac OS 10.14.5. Publisher 1.7.2 I have a 32 page magazine prepared. When I go to Print/document layout/booklet – the programme crashes. Tried it repeatedly. And the same thing happens. I actually want to save it as a pdf file rather than print, but it still crashes. I have tried a new document with less info in it and the same thing happens. Really frustrating as I need to get document sent to printers. When I tested on 1.7.1 it worked fine. September.afpub
