  1. @MEB This is not only about using gradients. It's about dropping a long flat shadow. Regardless of the gradient. It would be great if Affinity Designer can generate such a shadow shape from another shape (or group or text). Or a FX. Maybe an option for Outer Shadow or a complete new entry to cast such long shadow.
  2. Hello, I'm a Affinity beginner, so I need some assistance please. Is there any way to do median or mean filtering as I could before in Photoshop with stacked layers in a smart object? I'm talking about doing things like this: https://theuijunkie.com/delete-tourists-photos/ I have a project coming up and I need to shoot a busy street, but I want to apply same technique as above. Is it possible to make a "long exposure" using series of images with same exposure, almost like some iOS apps do now utilizing movie clips to blur between frames to make one single long exposure image. Thanks Aleksander
  3. Hi, this is my first topic on this forum. At first I just wanted to say that I am very happy with your product and I am very surprised that I am using it that often. I did not expect that. I thought that Affinity will not replace Photoshop in my workflow that soon. Good job. I am using Affinity Photo mainly for postproduction of my 3D renders. I love to use your Tone mapping persona which gives my renders a nice kick. Lately I work with 6k and sometimes even with 8k images and I import 32 bit EXR formats. When I open Tone mapping persona I have to wait really long time to start it up. Also other tools are little bit slower. I want to ask if in future we can expect some speed improvement with this bigger image formats.
  4. I've noticed this in previous betas too. When I first load Affinity and click on the Paragraph Tab (docked with the Character Panel), the whole panel is stretched very long. The only way to shorten it is to contract then expand the 3 sections (Spacing, Tab Stops, Justification). Please see screenshot for a 'before' shot.
  5. Trying stupid stuff, I discovered that designer.exe doesn't like long strings as parameter 1. start cmd.exe 2. change directory to AD-Directory 3. start designer.exe with very long string as parameter (= crash 0x800700CE) Designer.exe %1%111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111 Or by giving only a "?" as parameter: 1. start cmd.exe 2. change directory to AD-Directory 3. start designer.exe with ? or * as parameter (= crash 0x80070057) Designer.exe ? Designer.exe * Designer.exe [Alt + 255] .
  6. Vic Asecas on our Facebook page asked about creating a long shadow, it would be good to have in future. Here's the example effect Vic wants to achieve: When I had a play I struggled to make it look as good, it seemed to me that the effect can be approximated with dark shapes and a gradient transparency, but the gradient has a straight profile perpendicular to the gradient path. In Illustrator, this effect can be achieved using blended copies of objects that go from e.g. 20% opacity down to 0% with a blend spacing of e.g. 1pt. Even with a long shadow this produces vector banding like the bad old days, so I'm sure there's a nicer way we could achieve it. Mesh fills would be one possibility, obviously the Blend tool on the roadmap is another, but maybe a Long Shadow layer effect/tool is another possibility?
