  1. If have a PDF flyer (aproximately 3 MB) linked into a Publisher layout. With the PDF the Publisher filesize is about 18.5 MB. If i delete the linked PDF from my document the Publisher filesize is only about 3.2 MB. The Publisher filesize with linked PDF becomes even bigger than the linked PDF filesize itself ? This remembers me of the early v1.x behaviour before you even could link external resources properly.
  2. hey all! I have a quite urgent question: Today I opened mit afpub file and was surprised that all the linked documents that I have edited many times in publisher are suddenly being overwritten with the original linked documents (all editing gone). This happens a few seconds after opening the file. So in the first seconds you can still see all the edited documents but they are being replaced with the "old" version soon. Is there any way I can stop the replacing with the original documents and keep mit edited ones? 🥺 I still have hope because during the first seconds the edited documents are still visible. but I don't know how to keep them... This has never opened before. I have worked several days on that file and this has never happened before but I have a deadline today... THANK YOU IMG_5840.MOV
  3. Hi, The linked resources are a great feature in Affinity, but there is any way how I can use that linked resource as a mask for another layer/group? Or link that B&W image in my file (somewhere), and then link(as layer linking) its luminosity to another layer - as a mask or something? I am just trying to move my render composition workflow to Affinity, and linked resources are great, but I have rendered alpha masks and z-depth channels. And would be nice to have them linked and working. Thanks in advance of any suggestion, cheers!
  4. AFPUB 1.8.3, OS X 10.15.3 Configuration: laptop connected to NAS on same network. Resource Manager Collection is on the same NAS. NAS Volume is mounted. The Preferences for AFPUB are set to "Automatically update linked resources when modified externally." Load the program and a document. Now - using an external photo editor, update one of the Images in the Resource Manager Collection (all images are linked). The Resource Manager recognizes that the image has been modified - see screen shot. The auto update of the image itself in the document no longer works. However, you can use the Resource Manager to manually Update (button) the image. Not sure if a networked volume is fair game for AFPUB or not. But since the Resource Manager Collection is recognized and used by AFPUB, I think the auto update should be active and working as well.
  5. I've run into this error many times. Finally caught a screenshot to show. Scenario. Photo book, photo source is Lightroom. Resource Collection folder. In Lightroom I edit the photo and export it to the Collection folder. AFPUB notifies the user that the file has been modified outside the application. The second notice is "Failed to Open File, File Type is not Supported." The photo is not updated in AFPUB document (not replaced with the edited version). However, all you have to do is to "Replace Image" with the very same image (.JPG) and all is fine. So the problem is that the file type is, indeed, supported when you replace the image. The earlier versions of AFPUB would automatically notice the change and apply the newly edited photo into the AFPUB document. No user intervention when the image is Linked, and the preferences are set to "Automatically update linked resources when modified externally" This is no longer working as expected. Something about the File Type.
  6. Hello everyone, I'm facing an issue with an ".afpub" file with around 40 pages. The issues started a few days ago where the loading time was abnormally high, and it often crashed when I made changes to my ".afdesing" file which was linked. Today I tried opening the file, but I had not luck, so after multiple minutes of waiting for the document to load I had to eventually kill it via task manager. After Ctrl + Click on Affinity Publisher to "Clear user defaults" and "Don't restore window & documents", I was able to open the file but a message showed up "Linked Resource Changed": Also, all of the instances of the linked file now look blurry: What I've tried so far: Setting "Automatically update linked files resources when modified externally" -> App is not responding, and document never loads... Open resource manager and clicked "Update" -> App is not responding... Open resource manager and clicked "Replace File" -> Kinda worked, but everything was totally messed up Deleting the ".afdesign" file and clicking "Yes" on the "Do you want to re-link missing file" dialog -> App is not responding... The file I used as an initial template was created using earlier version of Publisher, probably the version 1.7, if that helps. Something weird is that when I click on "Edit document", the file opens just fine inside the Publisher. Looks like only the linked document previews are the issue. Is there something I could do to solve this issue? I'm currently trying replacing each image by clicking "Replace document". Thank you for your help in advance!
