  1. I would like to stack several images together but still have complete access to the underlying layers. I'm taking close up photos of flowers in the field, using several images to produce one composite that is acceptably sharp throughout despite the handicaps of having a moving subject. I take a series of close ups of the different parts of a flower and then stitch them together. I've tried using the Stack option but the image that is produced is often missing part of my information since the images do not line up one in front of the other and the resulting image has a non-standard aspect ratio. I've also tried using the Panorama option but here, I cannot find a way to access the layers and their layer masks individually. I've seen the brushes that allow you to paint in a mask, but find them extremely difficult to use since a good part of each image is hidden behind another. Since the flowers move as I'm often having to do this outdoors in windy conditions, Focus Merge yields too many ghosts. Any ideas? I would like to have a stack or panorama of images which shows the all the image information that I have and also the underlying layers. I can do this is PS photomerge if I uncheck the option to merge the images together. How could I accomplish this in Affinity? Thanks!
  2. Does anybody know of a way to nest layers rather than the very silly and fiddly (shoot 'em up game) drag over the thumbnail and try and get the blue vertical bar to light up? If you want to use a layer as a mask, instead of "shooting" the vertical blue bar, you can "Mask to below" which does the same thing, However, I want the layer to be a Child, not a Nest, which is a very different thing. Ask any bird! Quite why Serif have not included a Nest to below option I can't imagine. After all, it's a vital part of the layer process. But I might be missing something obvious.
  3. Hi. It would be great to be able to sort by name, kind, layer order, and probably some more. So for instance, if you want to swap stroke and fill Color for all circles, your sort by kind, select circles, and hit the swop fill double arrow.
  4. Due to a corrupted file, I've reverted to a previous version (last worked on using v1.7.0.140) and observed something I don't recall seeing before. There's a red striped "decoration" down the left edge of many of the layers (text frames, shapes, curves) in the Layers panel. Where this exists on a group, it is present on each sub-layer when the group is expanded. This is a Master page which is, initially not applied to any document pages. After applying the master to a document page, the red stripes change to a solid red line which is now present on every layer. Looking back to previous versions of this same file, those lines are present there too. It's the sort of thing I'd like to think I'd notice and I don't recall spotting them before. Makes me think this has arrived with 1.7.0.145… I can't find any reference in either the Layers section of the manual or the Layer Panel page in the Help. I also did a quick search across the forum and drew a blank. Can anyone explain what these stripes signify?
  5. Hi, it would be great if you add CSS export feature like CSS Hat (https://csshat.com). I think that every HTML & CSS coder will buy your Affinity Designer and stop using expensive Photoshop :-) Thanks. Petr
  6. Hello, I have a web layout that I've created using Affinity Designer and I want to export it as a PSD with layers (preferrably editable where possible) so someone I'm working with who only has and knows Photoshop can make changes. However, when I export the layout no matter which preset I choose (even PSD preserve editability) it always exports flattened to one pixel background layer. I'm opening the result in Photoshop CC 2018. What do I need to change so that it will export my document to layers?
  7. Hello, I have a situation where I have ~650 layers, all well named that I need to search through quickly to hide/show for different permutations of an image. Is there a way I can either sort the layers alphabetically to find them more easily or search for them. Thanks.
  8. Hello, Is there a way to make AD go to a layer automatically when clicking on any element on the screen? for instance, there are two layers ( a circle and a square ). if I click on the square, I need affinity to go to that layer automatically. if I click on the circle, I need affinity to go to that layer automatically. thanks
  9. I've searched the forum and found this topic only once so perhaps I'm missing something. AP is great, I'm sure I will be able to move from InDesign but having no document wide layers is driving me mad! On a multi-page document I'll want a layer for images, another for text etc. On AP it appears I have to set that up on each page. I can't believe it - please tell me I've missed something. Bob
  10. Hi, I often need to build a new picture from several others and I did that in photoshop by "transforming" the layers ("cmd t" keyboard shortcut). Isn't there anything like that possible in Affinity Photos for Desktop Mac? I couldn't find it at least.
  11. I know to some this may seem to be going too deep, but one feature that would be tremendously helpful in Affinity Designer for UI work is the ability to rename multiple layers or find and replace in a selection of multiple layers. When creating a lot of different similar layers, it's great to make a selection and be able to add or change a folder prefix, for instance. Adding the ability to create a shortcut for renaming a current layer also helps make things just a bit faster in heavy workflows. I use these in plugin form elsewhere and it saves tons of time.
  12. I'd like to add background color to a page but can't figure out how to do it. I select the color with the color picker. There are two opacity slides, but neither does anything as far as I can tell. What am I doing wrong?
  13. Hello, is it possible to automatically align layers or photos? For example if I have 3 photos with 3 different exposures which I shot handhold, so the photos differ slightly. Is there a way to align the photos? There doesn't seem to be the possibility to make an HDR, will it be implemented in the future?
  14. Greetings, all. I'm loving Affinity Designer on my iPad. I don't have any experience with Illustrator, but have watched tutorials and thought about looking at it more seriously. Then AD came out and I pounced right away. I'm relatively new to working in vectors outside of some basic stuff with the pen tool in Photoshop, and the whole artboards thing is very new to me. SO! On to my actual question: is there a way to import a layered file into a pre-existing artboard? I have created an artboard to muck around with some business card ideas to promote myself as an artist. I can import an image just fine. Basically, I want to use the logo I created for my website for one side of the card, but I want to have access to the layers to move certain elements around or make adjustments for clarity as it is in a reduced size. I've already been able to download the layered file from the cloud and open it as it's own document in AD just fine. I'm just wondering if there's a means for me to add it in it's layered format onto my business card artboard. Thanks for any forthcoming enlightenment or revelations that what I'm trying to do can't be done! Toby
  15. I don't see how to create a feature (object/layer) that is visible, but won't print.
  16. Hoping layer move to front & back shortcuts will make it into a future beta release - I use it all the time in AD and find myself using the shortcuts in AP with no result, I never use the toolbar for this and have removed the icons in customise toolbar. I'm also getting the guides lock bug
  18. Am I right, that every element is a separate entry in the layers panel per default? I expect, that there is a default layer in which all elements were collected.
  19. Is it possible to merge pixel layers in designer?
  20. Hi, title says it all, restart did the trick, but I just thought I'd let you know! Was a very small, new file, literally a couple of shapes in a layer group. I made a new blank layer that I was going to use as a background but was unable to drag the new layer down in the Layer Panel so that it was underneath the group. In fact I was unable to render layers by dragging at all. The file started life as an eps from shutter stock if that helps any? Thanks Wayne
  21. In the layers panel, when you disable (not remove) some effects on a certain object it might be worth keeping the "fx" icon in the panel but maybe with a red "X" through it so you know there are some effects applied to it but are just disabled. That way with a click on that "fx" with a red "X" you can toggle the effects on and off right from the layers panel. Currently when I disable the effects, the icon disappears and I don't know which objects I have tried some effects on... This way, at a glance you are reminded which elements have effects applied but are turned off.
  22. I select multiple layers to group. I expect to see some sort of option I can simply click to group, but I can't see anything. I'm using the Work Book, and a 'group' option is supposed to come up on the Contextual Toolbar, but there is no option to group. Am I missing something? Edit: right click, and I see the option CTRL G for group. Going by the Work Book, should this option be showing up on the Contextual Toolbar?!? Just curious.
  23. Hello all, I've been behavior I just can't explain. I've seen this on the iPad version and now on the desktop version. Example: I have two images I brought in as a stack, I did auto-align (tried with and without the live align).... I see the stack, I open it up and can see the individual layers, one on top of the other. The blend modes are all set to Normal. For some reason, the lower layers are bleeding through and showing through the topmost layer, even with no masking, etc.....and I'm at a loss to see why? I'm used to PS, where if you stack 2 layers, with nomal blend modes, the top one completely obscures the lower one, unless you mask it off, or have other blend modes enabled. I'm guessing something is set different in AP, I just don't know how to get the behavior I'm expecting. Right now, with both images there...I have them both turned on, again, expecting the top image to completely obscure the bottom one...but it looks strange, and if I turn off the lower layer...the top one becomes to look as it should be without the bottom one bleeding into it. The images I've tried on desktop are .tiff images....the ones on the Ipad that did the same strange thing, were from an iphone emailed to me. Can someone help me out here? I'm just wanting to stack 2 images, and not have the bottom one(s) show through unless I mask out the top later.... Thanks in advance, CC
  24. The Layers panel no longer scrolls when dragging a item to the top or bottom of the panel in Affinity Designer 1.6.4.104. Previously, when I would select an item (for example, an artboard) and drag it to the top or bottom of the Layers panel, the panel would scroll so the selected item can be dropped higher or lower in the list. This is no longer happening. Using the scroll bar or mouse wheel without dragging a selection still works.
  25. I would like to import previously saved layers from my cloud into a new document. How do I add them in?
