  1. For quite some time I have noticed an inconsistency in layer duplication whereby if a layer was duplicated with a selection present sometimes only the selected area would duplicate and sometimes the entire layer would duplicate ignoring the selection. It seemed completely random. It isn't ...... I have finally discovered what is going on and it's very odd. If I duplicate using Layer > Duplicate or using the shortcut Cmd J the selection is respected and only the selected area is duplicated (which I presume is how it should be). If I duplicate by right clicking in the Layers Palette and selecting Duplicate from the context menu the selection is ignored and the entire layer is duplicated. Now at last I figured out what is going on it's no problem. In fact it could even be considered as quite useful to have the two different modes of duplication. However I suspect this isn't intentional. I wondered if anyone else had come across this ........ and whether it needs reporting to the top cats.
