  1. Hello, I use custom keyboard shortcuts in Affinity Photo 1.8.5.703 on Windows. I must have changed the shortcut for toggle snapping on/off because my working shortcut is now Backspace. I'm now trying to change it to another custom key but can not find it in the list at all. I can see it used to be under Miscellaneous. It's not there now and can't find it anywhere. Can you help? By the way, changing custom keyboard shortcuts can be really tiresome as it is now. It would be really nice to make it work more user friendly..
  2. Hi everyone - still relatively new to Designer so I don't know if this is an existing feature but I've been unable to find anything online so far. I have wrist issues that make extended mouse use difficult, so I use a pen tool and keyboard as much as possible. Been looking for non-mouse keyboard shortcuts for the scroll function (horizontal and vertical), preferably with a way to customize the precision with which you move, so you can move as much or little as needed with each key stroke in each direction. The latter is nice to have right now--just getting the keyboard functionality would be really helpful for my workflow. I've not been able to find any way to customize scrolling in the Preferences menu, and nothing is listed in the shortcuts cheatsheets that I can find online. Am I out of luck on this one? (I use v.1.8 in Windows on Windows 10, in case that makes a difference.)
  3. After the latest update (1.8.4), my keyboard shortcuts have stopped working. This happened after I updated to 1.8.3 as well. Why does updating Affinity Designer cause this? For reference: 1) I'll open the program. Things will appear to be normal: no unusual messages, nothing on (or off) that shouldn't be, etc. 2) keyboard shortcuts will either a) work for a few minutes, or b) not work at all. 3) I close and reopen the program. Repeat 1-2. I love Affinity, but this is driving me NUTS, and costing valuable time! I do not use any custom shortcuts, just what Affinity came with. Is anyone else experiencing this?
  4. Ability to move the selected in 100-pixel increments. V Move selection in 1-pixel increments - arrow key V Move selection in 10-pixel increments - Shift + arrow key + Move selection in 100-pixel increments - Shift + Ctrl + arrow key
  5. Please add the option to set keyboard shortcut for "Remove All Guides" command. Thanks!
  6. I'm wondering if anybody has done a Affinity-Shortcuts-Cheat-Sheet for Publisher? Or is it too soon with possible changes still to come?
  7. I came to the forum today looking for a way to replace a certain keyboard shortcut functionality I'm used to in Adobe products. Specific examples of operation given below are from InDesign; from what I recall Illustrator is pretty similar and Photoshop is a little different. I only found one post here that was even in the ballpark, so... Scenario: you're editing text. Obviously you can't use "V" to select the Move tool; that will just insert a "v". OTOH selecting the Move tool with the cursor is a pain if you just want to do a quick move and get back to editing text right where you were. The Adobe convention I miss: If you have the text tool selected (also applies to many other tools although not always in the exact same way) you can press and hold CTRL (PC) to switch the cursor to the Move tool only as long you continue to hold CTRL. As soon as you let it go, the cursor reverts to the Text tool (or whatever tool you were using). But wait, there's more. Having pressed and held CTRL, you can then add SHIFT or SHIFT+ALT in order to zoom in or out, or if you add SHIFT+ALT and then release CTRL, you get the Hand tool and you can shift the artboard. When you release SHIFT+ALT, you're back to whatever tool you started out with. It's still second nature to me even after years of very infrequent use. Fast and hassle-free. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't see any way to add this kind of temporary tool select modification to the keyboard shortcuts myself. --- Disclaimer: I no longer use graphic design software on a daily or even monthly basis, and for all the years I've used Adobe products, I'd still call myself a noob. My copy of Adobe Creative Suite is v3, so... yeah. I should also point out that I am thrilled at the quality, facility and AFFORDABILITY of Affinity software. A boon for a guy like me who has a few skills that occasionally come in real handy, but rarely generate significant income -- certainly not enough to justify Adobe prices.
  8. Hi, this is a 12min video how I am blasting through the styling of a book in Affinity Publisher. I want to show you how easy it is to even edit mulit-hundred pages long books. I never thought it would be such a "blast" until I did it - as you can see in the video. My suggestion if you come from Indesign or if you start with just plain text. Set up your text styles first. Use the first chapter for it until you are happy - unless you already have a ready-made layout. Assign keyboard shortcuts where necessary. Set up your master pages, too. Don't apply them yet. Use a "running page" master page as your first page, because if you auto-add new pages (Shift-Option-Cmd Click), it will take the current master page as a template. Apply your special master pages for new chapters etc only after your text is formatted properly and flowing beautifully. Otherwise it will mess up your page layout. Apply sections last, too. So if you are afraid of throwing a 300-odd page book at Affinity Publisher, fear no more! If you do your homework (see above) first, the final formatting is a piece of cake. Cheers, Helmar [Note: This is a not a polished video. It's just to share my joy of editing in AFP compared to InDesign. ] Screen_Recording_2020-03-17_at_11_58_43.mov
  9. Hello, Would it be possible to add the option for a keyboard shortcut to toggle the brush stabiliser on and off? Thanks for your consideration!
  10. I'm having trouble locating where the "Switch between Stroke/Fill (or Color 1/Color 2) color selectors (Color and Swatches panels)"/"Toggle Fill Content" in the Keyboard Shortcuts. The original shortcut is assigned to X. I want to assign it to a different key, but a warning triangle shows next to the shortcut, indicating X is already being used for "Toggle Fill Content", but I cannot find where this shortcut initially is located.
  11. Hi, I have affinity photo beta for windows and i wanted to know, how can i add keyboard shortcuts in Macros? Thanks in advance.
  12. The standard OSX keyboard shortcut to switch between windows in an application is ⌘> and ⌘<, respectively. In AD these shortcuts are reserved for text size increase/decrease and there is no way to change that, by the way (these “hooks” are missing in the preference panel, there is just Size > Precise Bigger/Smaller). I would like to use the standard keyboard shortcuts to switch between windows in separated mode, too. And perhaps this could be extended to tabs (in both modes), i. e. in the single window mode the shortcuts would switch between tabs and in separated mode it would switch between tabs in a single window until the last tab is active, and then it switches to the next window (or reverse in the reverse direction). How does that sound?
  13. With Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo v1.6.0.89 I have to press: Ctrl+Shift+> to increase size Ctrl+Shift+< to decrease size and a very nimble fingered: Ctrl+Alt+Shift+> to precise increase Ctrl+Alt+Shift+< to precise decrease I believe the default shortcuts should not require the Shift key option.
  14. In the View menu on the Tool Bar "Preview Mode" is shown as Control + W, but nothing happens and my MacBook makes that 'boop' noise that it does when no action can be completed at this time. Am I pushing the wrong keys, or is this a bug?
  15. Using command+b to get bold in text works pretty well. But using it a second time to quit bold does not revert the text to its original font weight, but to regular. I´ve discovered this on a document on which i'm using Open Sans Fine as body text (using paragraph style). Undoing bold with command+b results in Open Sans Regular instead of Fine. The logic should be to revert to what the style demands, as you are not always using regular as default weight and also because this cause extra work when cleaning bolds.
  16. During configuration of shortcuts to use a Wacom dial to rotate canvas I found this issue: * In the settings shortcuts panel both left and right Alt-keys on the keyboard are displayed as 'Alt', so there is no way to see the difference between the two * But the actual keyboard shortcut is in reality indeed bound to the left OR the right Alt key. Looking in the interface it looks like both 'Rotate Left' and 'Rotate Right' are bound to the same shortcut (Alt+2), but in fact the first one is bound to AltLeft-2 and the second to AltRight+2. Affinity Photo knows this, because it doesn't show warning symbols to indicate a keyboard shortcut is already in use (it shows the regular clear-buttons): This is confusing and error-prone. It would be better if the interface shows AltRight and AltLeft instead for the alt-keys OR the software should treat both ALT-keys as the same (which I personally prefer and would expect). (I posted this in the Photo AND the Publisher beta bug forums too, because it's happening in all three programs. It's probably the same codebase, but just to be shure posted this in all three forums)
  17. Hello guys! You know that in PS we are using Ctrl / Alt + Space bur to control Zoom in or out. Do you've any keyboard shortcut there in Affinity to control Zoom tool? Thanks in advance.
  18. It's a mild annoyance that gets solved if you just hide the Location panel (never understood why it opens by default - why would you need that open when stitching a panorama) but here it is: While creating/stitching a Panorama, the zoom keyboard shortcuts (Cmd +/-) don't work for zooming in and out of the image (useful for checking for seams). Instead they affect the world map at the location panel. Hope it helps!
  19. Hi There Affinity Just bought your app. Its really good. But it would be sooooo much better and easier to use if I could configure my bluetooth keys to trigger functionality in affinity photo. Will this ever be a possibility? PS yes I know there is a little support already, but I mean customizable shortcuts. for example to change brush size, flow, modifiers (for adding subtracting), reversing the pallet black and white etc. Radek
  20. In Photoshop I need only hit the "D" key to switch the Foreground Color to BLACK and the Background Color to WHITE (in the color picker/palette, I mean). I see that when I open a new document in Affinity Photo, it uses the same BLACK and WHITE colors by default too. (In Affinity Photo, I am talking about the 2 round overlapping color circles at the top left corner of the "Color" tab.) But when I change those colors and then press the "D" key, nothing happens. How do I revert them back to the default BLACK and WHITE? And can I assign a keyboard shortcut to accomplish that? Thanks.
  21. It would be good to be able to have a keyboard shortcut for either the most-used blend modes. or the ability to create a custom shortcut for a blend mode. e.g. similar to Photoshop Thanks. I love using your program

  23. I'm trying to assign a keyboard shortcut to the "Place image tool" in Affinity Designer 1.6.0.89. I have tried assigning both single keys and single key with modifier keys, every time I hit the shortcut key, the software crashes and shows the attached error message(Unhandled Exception.png). Please solve this issue. Thank you.
  24. WIN 7, a{ V. 1.6.2.97 In an Affinity Photo Tutorial on Lynda.com, in the section on refining a selection using the quick mask, "If we hold the kControl ad Otion keys together, we can drag up and down on the tool to make it harder and softe, and wwe can drag left and right to make it smaller and larger." What I get is circle with color values e.g. white = R 255 G 255 B 255, in fact that happens as soon as I use the Option key. This same tutorial says to Zoom with Cmd/Ctrl + Spacebar/--doesn't happen. In my version, when selecting, I have tool bar choices of New, Add, Subtract, Intersect and the online tutorial doesn't--I don't think the shortcut keys in the tutorial work the same way. I would really like to have a current tutorial that works. I'm very frustrated. I have AP on an iPad 2 and haven't noticed these problems. I'm not getting any work done because I'm struggling adapt from PS and not only is the app slow but fighting me every step of the way.
