  1. Hi, There is a problem with my HSL. It doesn't look like it is supposed to. I can't see all the colours as you can see in the image. HSL is usually showing in a form of circle but I have only one quarter of the circle. Thanks for helping, Lauriane
  2. This issue was present in Version 1 of Photo and Designer, and is still present in Version 2 of Photo and Designer. Issue: When I am using a tool with a tool specific cursor, such as cross hair or circle outline, upon using the tool and releasing the first click, the cursor reverts back to the default OS cursor. which is the same cursor as the move tool. Example if i use the paint brush tool, and click on the image, the cursor is not longer the circle outline. it reverts to the default OS cursor even though the paint brush tool remains active. If i resize the paint brush cursor, the cursor returns to the proper paint brush cursor until i click on the image then it again reverts back to the default OS cursor. Other info besides the cursor not being proper the tools seem to work fine. There are some tools that don't revert back such as the pen and node tools. When i click and drag with the brush tool, the proper cursor returns until i release the click.
  3. I'm using Affinity Publisher 2 on windows but the issue is with the entire Affinity line. I got this free font Aquire Free Font - Download Free Font (befonts.com) Inside the software the font is rendered like this But after export to pdf for example it looks like this The font renders without letter spacing in other programs as well. It's only Affinity issue. What could be the problem? Is there any setting I can change to fix this? This makes the software basically unusable because the final exported image never looks like the edited image...
  4. hi there, finally, with sweat and blood, i understand how the constraint group works, but i nothice 1 issue here, after i'm happy with my "CGroup" . i adjusted it and do stuff. and then i need just the background of this CGroup, so i went to layers panel, and i select the bg object, i copied, then pasted it . weird thing it didn't appear nearby, but after zoomed out a bit, the object become so big it covered the whole 2 artboard i made. thankyou
  5. Hello, I've exported my book as a pdf but the pdf links aren't working as intended. The bookmark list (that shows up in side-panels) sends me to the correct spread - it lands with the anchor at the top of the page, however when clicking on TOC entries, it seems to land on the previous spread or with the anchor at the very bottom. I've been able to recreate this on different pdf viewers. I'm not sure if I've missed a checkbox somewhere when I export or something... Any ideas?
  6. Affinity Designer V2, windows 11/10, this PC spec is beyond minimum requirements. i worked with lots of text, i made layout for math videos, which i have to immitate math symbol placements and do some equation layout too. i notice that i can paste an object inside a text object (which super cool! i really love this feature in Affinity Designer). but whenever i click on this text+text or text+object and i run 'convert to curve' . the object is gone (most of the time completely, or some resides but nearly 99% is gone). pics worth more than words, just see my steps.
  7. A number of users have had the same problem I had with Pixel Persona when seeking to export multiple artboards at once. Each exported image was slightly out of line leaving a small gap on one or two sides of the image that had not been there previously. When zooming in within Pixel Persona, it became clear that the frame of each artboard/slice was slightly out of line with each artboard and could not be repositioned correctly since the frame jumps to the next pixel when it is moved within Pixel Persona. It's as if the artboard's frame had shifted to the nearest pixel. I came across a temporary solution: To align each artboard with one another so they are touching before converting the artboards to slices. However, this is not ideal for every project. Please ensure that the exact artboard area is converted into a slice irrespective of its position on the main document. Thanks! Asa.
  8. There is an issue, when you try to delete a shortcut in the settings of the Publisher. It only appears if "text" is selected. The delete-button is placed outside the window. It isn't possible to scroll to the right or widen the window. The images shown the difference between Photo and Publisher.
  9. Hello, Just bought Affinity 2.0 after learning in a class on 1.7. It seems that there is an issue on the histograms representation between version 1.X and 2.0. I am using a Fuji XT-4 and here is the result on the same image (you can find the .dng attached). The DR may have been to 200% or 400% during this photoshoot (I usually leave it to auto) Here is the histogram on the version 1.10.6 And here is the histogram in the version 2.0 _DSF1237.dng
  10. Face_Your_Fears.psdI am following the following tutorial: (time stamped begins at exact location of my issue) As tutorial instructs... I have attached an hsl adjustment to the waterfall layer (background) However, when I try to change the waterfall layer to blue (as tutorial shows) hsl seems to not be working - nothing is happening. (shown in the 2nd video clip below) I then tried it on the boy layer.. also not changing to blue, instead blue pixel blocks appear on the boy image (shown in the 1st video clip below) I closed out Affinity Photo, relaunched it, still having same hsl issue. What am I doing wrong? (I have attached video clips to show what I am experiencing, I have also attached the PSD files) Face_Your_Fears.psd FullSizeRender.mov FullSizeRender.mov
  11. I turned on my pc today and found that all my brushes do as per what is in the photo. Does anyone know how to change this back to just normal opacity? I can't draw using this as it ruins the colour.
  12. To Serif team. May we please know, in the end of 2021, why canvas rendering algorithms are still so terrible in all Affinity apps?
It's just not pleasant to see at all. Lots of glitches, fps drops, screen tearing, jumping objects and visible tiling/blocky artefacts during any changes being made. While searching here on forums, I found lots of topics covering all these issues.
Some of them are five or six years old. But some of these topics are much more recent. Various configurations, pretty good CPUs and GPUs of all sorts.
But same screen tearing, artefacts and visible tiles. For a such long period of time. And there are still no fixes for that. In some of those topics I've found official responses, that "this is done by design", "it's the way our apps render the canvas".
Well, it's not a good design then. And certainly not a good way to render the canvas. How you, at Serif, find it acceptable? Are you ok with seeing canvas rendering like that in your apps? How it passes QA and being shipped to your customers? Why there are headlines on Affinity website: "fast and glorious", "pan and zoom at 60fps", "handle 1000s of objects with no lag", "optimized for documents of any complexity"? When it is simply not true, but rather false statements. At least it is not true as long, as such core performance problems still persist for so many people, including myself. Why not consider implementing something like v-sync in your canvas rendering pipeline? Or something else that will prevent visible artefacts appearing during canvas updates. So it will wait for all the tiles to finish calculating their image data and then the whole visible part of the canvas will be composited and painted in a single (at least on the visible to user level) draw event. It will significantly reduce overall performance? Well, maybe, but then you'll need to find a solution for this as well.
Now it looks like the best idea for you was to throw all these tiles at your customer's screen as fast as possible. Because who notice that mess? They'll be fine with that. But I do notice that. And I want to avoid any screen tearing and tile artefacts in my experience with apps even on the most basic and simple tasks.
So, where is mine "smooth and glorious 60fps experience"? I'm not even starting doing any serious graphic design work because I don't like your canvas in its current state. Sorry. Second, why mouse polling rate plays such significant role in your apps canvas performance? Recently I discovered this myself, and it was confirmed with your team members, that reducing mouse polling rate to default 125Hz significantly improves screen canvas performance. Significantly, but still not perfect yet. So why not restrict any user input events and sync them with dispay refresh rate / gpu redraw cycle? Just an example. The latest Safari has new option in their Debug menu: "Prefer Page Rendering Updates near 60fps". It ignores the display's refresh rate and throttle all in-window paint events down to commonly safe and achievable 60fps. So why not consider something like this and limit overall fps and user input event processing for the sake of overall performance improvement? Maybe then we'll get a better canvas? My main question is: is it an absolutely impossible to seamlessly refresh the canvas without all these tiles flickering around constantly once anything is changed in the viewport? I'm just wondering why it is still being considered as normal in Affinity apps to have a canvas behaving this way? Sorry if my post seems to be a rant or offended you in some way. I had no intent of doing that.
I'm really wondering if Affinity suite can be made better for all of us. Or we shouldn't expect anything better being done in this direction. Maybe it's really a one big "pain in the a.s" problem for any software developers to make CPU and GPU properly talk to each other?
Maybe there are lots of problems with major OS developers ditching OpenGL and moving towards Metal/DirectX? Also, we've seen this recent Apple's movement from separate CPU and GPU with dedicated memory to SoC solutions with unified, shared memory.
Yes, I can understand that your apps should greatly benefit from that. Obviously, lower latencies, less memory copy operations, overall faster access to data.
All things being done in one place. But... But at the same time I feel that it's just wrong to keep telling anyone on Twitter how good and fast your apps perform on those recent Apple SoCs, while its canvas (which is the main working and the most important area) lags and glitches in general for anyone with more traditional system configuration, even on the most simple scenarios like moving an artboard or a single layer around. I couldn't be the one who notices that. And my system is pretty powerful and it's clear that it deserves better performance and smoother visual response. What I see now is simply unacceptable for me. To be completely honest, I must say that I love your apps. Overall, they are much, much better for me than anything I've seen in this field. There are so many great features and innovative decisions, little details, that make it truly great.
Every time I discovered these in your apps I was so excited and happy, because I remembered how bad the same thing was in Adobe's products. I remember lots of annoying, terrible things that made me leave Adobe's universe once and forever.
Vast majority of these things remain unchanged for many years. Because they don't care about their software and customers at all. I found your company and your products to be a complete opposite. Small and passionated company with people really interested in their products.
I don't want to be disappointed with you guys. I believe in you. I believe in Serif. Just can't stand this canvas tiles flickering and tearing. Sorry.
  13. Hey, i love AD, but since day 1 i have struggled with print. Im having issues, i could never get 100k black, then i got it buy playing with the pdf settings, now i cant get shadows to export on a pdf. its strange because i configure the settings one way and i CAN export the shadow but NOT achieve 100K, vice versa, when i get it too print 100K, i cannot export drop shadows in the same document. im attaching the affinity file, if anyone can get this exported, with shadows and 100kblack (proper colours/cmyk) i would appreciate it highly, and let me know the export settings and where/what im doing wrong. I work in a marketing agency, the owners have owned print houses, they have 100 years knowledge in print and im not just saying it, they are literally experts ive never heard anyone with even close knowledge in the industry. which makes it even stranger that i cannot get document to print as desired! we have printers in office, outsource work, all the workers are from print houses and repo. to add more to this, ive also uploaded my export settings on how i achieve 100k black, but sing these settings i cannot export shadows. when i get the shadow but no 100k, i just use 'press ready' and alter nothing, but like i say, that doesnt carry the 100kblack. the document is set up 100% correct - (there is no 100k black in use on this document EXCEPT the example square on art-board 'proof' LJmykar.afdesign
  14. So I was building my portfolio with Windows Affinity Designer 1.10.1.1142, I used the text box to create a subheader, it was all fine till just now, when I created a new text box and adjusted the box size for a smaller width. For some reason, when I type the textand get to the second line of the text box, it centers the text alignment for only the second line of the sentance. When I checked the text alignment, it says its aligned to the left, which is what I need. I'm not sure how I can fix the alignment of the second text line, and I haven't touched anything on the Font Character Window, only what was available on the default workspace character tool bar at the top.
  15. I have tried exporting with PNG and SVG and when ever I export an image with noise, very little of the noise is maintained. I have attached a screenshot of the picture on the left is the original affinity designer vector and the image on the right is the exported PNG. As you can see there is a noticeable difference in the noise. Could I be doing something wrong or is this an issue with Affinity Designer?
  16. Hi, I have downloaded the new 1.7.0 version and followed by 1.7.1. The performance is a disaster and a real workstopper. Drawing something with any Brush tool is the worse I have encounter anytime (no matter if Healing, Brush or Clone....). I have a new top series NTB and Wacom Pro..... but I feel like working with old 486 PC :( I have been using AP for about the time of the first official release, but never saw anything like this :( This had not been a case of 1.6. version that one worked fine for me, but now I do draw something on Wacom and have to wait around 2 to 5 seconds till I see it on the screen, which makes any realtime drawing impossible I have tried restarting many times..... sometimes it works most time not...... It does not seem to be problem of Wacom as it looks the same working with touchpad or a mouse. Do not tell me I am the only one with this problem...... Please let me now ASAP as I am a professional and this makes my job unable...... Thanks Jindra
  17. Silent Ocean - Campaign (2018) While studying at SAE for my Bachelor of Design, I got the change to work on a social issue campaign around noise pollution in the ocean with the goal to make 10 posters around the campaign and ended up making 12 posters, 10 badges, art display piece, and a website. This project was amazing to work on allowing myself to break out of my "normal design style" and really allow me to just play around with mix design, merging vector, paper craft, images and 3D together to create something amazing Made with: Affinity Photo (Mac + iOS (iPad Pro) Affinity Designer Autodesk Maya (for 3D) "Click Here" to view the website. __ Need of a graphic designer? 18. When I change the size of the vector brush stroke, it loses it's brush type. Once I restart the program it works for a bit but then does it again. Anyone else having this issue?
  19. On exporting a press ready PDF from publisher, my placed afphoto image is showing at a very low resolution when I open the generated PDF file. If I use png exported from the same afphoto it's okay and sharp. What is strange: If I make in the afphoto the upper lying group (that is set to invisible) - that covers only part of the image - in the afphoto image visible, then the whole pdf is sharp, too, if I make it invisible, every part of the placed afphoto in pdf is blurry. I found out: This occurs only if the placed afphoto image is set to 72 DPI - no matter that the pixel size is sufficient, as it shows - in Resource Manager - a "placed DPI" of 560dpi. I reproduced the same with Photoshop and Indesign (CS4) and it worked well as I am used to, even if the psd-file is set to 72 dpi. Only the pixel-size matters. That's what I expect.
  20. After opening Designer and using it for like 10 seconds or so, it simply closes. No error, nothing. This happens not every time but most of the time. I can't seem to find a solution or what is causing the issue. But this issue started appearing after the latest update. What would you need to investigate this issue? 87501147-3050-48c6-b07f-b9bf8746aa70.dmp
  21. Hi Serif Team, This is unfortunate and highly annoying at the same time that the latest version of Affinity Photo (1.9) is crashing frequently and unpredictably. I don't know about others but this is highly frustrating as I was very confident till Version 1.8. (It was faster too) "Stability" is now a serious issue and thus I can only suggest the Serif Team to look into this matter and resolve at the earliest lest it would mar their reputation. Best wishes.
  22. Good morning, I have tried to install the new version of Affinity Photo (1.7.1.). Unfortunately, the only option / button I get is "Update" (see screenshot) although I cannot find any Affinity Photo software, version, etc on the computer. As soon as I click "Update", another window pops up, saying that there is an "Invalid Path". I cannot install the programm. I have changed a hard disk about a year ago due to technical issues but have uninstalled all old software. How can I do a new, fresh, clean installation? Thanks in advance for any advices!!!
  23. Hello, I have been having the following problem in the most up to date (as of today) version of affinity publisher desktop (1.8.6) on Mac : 1. I add a picture to a page (not a master). 2. I use the photo persona (top left corner in publisher) to make adjustments on the picture (e.g., brightness and contrast, black and white). 3. (Here's the problem). The adjustments becomes caked in the picture. The adjustment is now: A) fused with the picture; B) impossible to readjust or modify; C), impossible to delete; D) impossible to uncheck from the layers section. If I double click on the adjustment layer, a dialog box appears, giving me "fusion" options). This is problematic because I would like to have the ability to continue making adjustments on the picture. Is there any way to fix this issue? Thank you,
  24. circular selection doesn't work by subtracting
  25. I found my text tool have background color automatically, and I can find any option to turn it off, primely I thought that it must be something I turn on,but I check for a long time it seems no way to turn it off.Someone could help me?
