  1. 1. It is not possible to set a date taken for old photographs. Try tagging a photo taken in, say, 1926. It will not be saved and will come back blank when the file is reopened. 2. IPTC fields are short, for example, some longer country names must be entered abbreviated rather than in their correct form.
  2. Affinity Photo recompresses JPEG images when metadata is edited even though the image itself has no changes. Steps: 1. Make a copy of a test JPEG image as backup. 2. Edit metadata in one copy of the image in Affinity Photo. 3. Stack before and after images in layers and view as Difference.
  3. I am a serious amateur photographer who concentrates on travel and family photography. I am using Affinity Photo on a trial basis and I am highly impressed with AP's outstanding editing capabilities, ease of use and superb learning videos and tutorials. However, I have just discovered that almost all of my metadata is LOST after exporting files in JPG format! On studying this Forum, I note that any posters have expressed the same concern. This is a deal breaker for me and it will be a great disappointment not to proceed with AP purchase, unless anyone can advise:- 1. is there a workaround for this most basic requirement? and 2. is AP planning to correct this problem in the very near future? I am sure there must be hundreds of potential purchasers who are turning away from AP for the same reason.
  4. Hello developers and community ! Is there a feature like import a tiff file (foto) and display below the embedded iptc tags as assigned text ? I would like to index later all the tags. If such a function might be now or later available, then I could avoid a lot of work. Thanks for your answers. UFS
  5. Can you add metadata to an image in affinity designer. It is so important for SEO purposes as well as copyright. I noticed someone had asked this question in 2016 so something should be in place by now.
  6. After exporting illustrations from Photo as JPG files, I switch over to bridge and fill in metadata such as description, keywords and copyright. I thought, at some point it would be cool to add IPTC data in Photo directly, and have that attached to all files that support it, like JPG.
  7. Really need IPTC caption support in Affinity Photo, particularly for bulk editorial work. I know I'm one of many others requesting this feature, but can't find any info or updates as to whether this will ever happen.
  8. I am a full-time professional photographer and I'm very impressed with Affinity Photo for iPad. I believe it could allow myself and other photojournalists, who are often traveling with a lot of gear and transmitting images from the field, to lighten our loads and simplify our editing workflow. However, I need to be able to edit/append photo metadata without having to send the photos back over to my laptop. Specifically, I need to include caption/description, copyright status, location data, and creator/contact info with the files I submit. Currently, there is only one iPad app I know that can do this (Photogene) but it is set to become obsolete as soon as iOS11 is released. I'd love to help develop this app for photojournalists, I think it would be a great tool for many of us. Thanks so much!
  9. How do I edit IPTC, EXIF, GPS and XMP data in Affinity Photo? Sorry if this has been asked before. I just bought it and try to process some of my files. All my files (NEF, PSD, TIFF, DNG and JPG formats) have clean and proper embedded metadata (legacy IPTC (IIM), EXIF, GPS and XMP either embedded or in sidecar files). How does AP deal with that? Where can I edit or at least view this data? Can AP edit XMP and other metadata?
  10. After importing Nikon D7000 NEF files into Affinity, several EXIF data are lost, most important (for me) are the GPS data. Almost all IPTC Content data are lost (Title, Headline, Description, Keywords.) If the same files are converted to JPEG before imported, all data are kept.
  11. Currently, there seems to be no support for metadata for any image type and, more worryingly, any existing metadata is stripped out of a raw file completely on export. If this is to be a serious contender to existing applications, metadata support needs to be added, imho.
  12. hi, is there a possibility to edit or delete exif/iptc data of a file ? and is there an alternative way to photoshop's "save for web" so exif/iptc doesn't get lost after saving ? thanks in advance tim
