  1. I', currently using 1.7.1.404 in a trial of the software. Having used Photoshop in the past, I have a number of brush collections in abr format. If I import them into Designer, I get the message that the import has completed successfully, but no new category appears in the list. The brushes are nowhere to be found. Restarting Designer has no effect. I have successfully imported a brush collection in Affinity format, which appears at the end of the default list of brush categories.
  2. Hi everyone! First i’m loving Affinity Photo and am amazed at what i can do with it. One thing that bugs me though is figuring out the workflow from multiple raw files to end photo. I shoot mostly portraits so lighting circumstances are the same for multiple photos at a time. I basically have 2 things i’m wondering about depending on what is possible. Is it possible to apply the develop persona settings to multiple raw files? I believe you can do that with the desktop version by saving it as some sort of preset. I would love to know if this is at all possible on the iPad version. Otherwise feature request Another route would be to use Lightroom for the developing proces and then exporting it to cloud storage. I’ve tried tiff files but that generates 150 MB files from 25 MB raw files (exported as 16bit). Also tried jpegs but would prefer a file type without compression/data loss. Next thing i’ll Try is DNG. I would love to here your thoughts and suggestions! Thanks.
  3. When importing brushes from Photoshop, dynamics can have a higher value than the GUI actually allows. In below image Scatter X / Y is on 570%, normally only 400% is possible through the UI. I actually would love when this setting has a slieder to 1000%, or there is a very high limit like 5000% on the textbox. This would help create more versatile brushes that come closer to what I already have in Photoshop.
  4. When I tried the beta, I was immediately sold. I was up and running from an RTF template in moment, all my styles importing. Now when I import, they styles don't come in. When I tried to do it in different ways, Publisher crashed on me. I'm going to give it one more try on the new 16 page project I'm doing, then going back to Adobe until I figure this out. Did something change in how things import or come in?
  5. I am having a problem with the latest version of Affinity Photo for Windows (1.7.1.404). Previously, when importing an image from the Stock image browser, the image loaded almost instantly. Now, the image takes roughly 2 minutes to load, if at all. Most of the time, it freezes Affinity Photo and I have to Ctrl+Alt+Delete and restart.
  6. Hi there, My question is simple: How to import my written content into Publisher? I write my content in Paper by Dropbox (similar to Google Docs). So in order to import that content into Publisher, can I: 1) Copy / paste content directly into a New Page? In this case, if the content needs more than 1 page (usually), the pages are multiplied automatically, as in Word? Also, when you copy/paste, the original format is honored, including URL links and images? 2) Exporting original content to PDF - then importing that PDF in Publisher? In this case, the original format, URL links and images are imported as appeared in the PDF? I just want to know what is the preferred way to import our content inside Publisher. Thanks in advance ...
  7. I've been using the Apple Aperture program and since it is no longer supported by Apple I am looking at other editing programs and came across Affinity which looks ideal to me. I have not upgraded to El Capitan since I am not interested in using the new Apple program "photos" and I don't want to lose my Aperture libraries. Will Affinity be introducing a catalog or library filing program similar to Aperture? In the meantime what would be the best and quickest way to download my photos into my Mac so I can start using Affinity? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  8. In pageplus I imported a table of contents it came in as a single text box but infinity each line comes in as a single line. Would be great if you could import it the same way as pageplus brings it in as a single text box. I guess is there a way to do change the import so the lines combine into one text box?
  9. Dear Affinity developers and users, As a professional writer/publisher I need a facility to easily import large amounts of text in text frames. And with automatic page / text frame generation dependent on the amount of text and default or imported font size. It is impractical to import all text into one frame and create pages manually, create text frames and link them all together to have text spread over the pages. Imagine a 500 plus illustrated novel. That's almost 100.000 words and numerous paragraphs that need manual di- text frame creation is availablestribution over the frames. Totally unworkable and that means that without such a facility Publisher is not an appropriate publishing solution for publishers. Of course this is different for illustrated works with little text, but a DTP solution is about publishing, not about page design alone. So how about this scenario: - text import is available - page creation is available - text frame creation is available - text frame connection is available Then, please just automate the lot in an auto page/text frame and text distribution feature allowing imports from Word, OpenOffice, plain text and Scrivener (this last one would be a nice extra). If there is some sort of scripting possible it could even be scripted. We need a proper and feasible workflow! Without this Publisher will not be workable for publishing of text books like novels, scripts, scientific work, etc. Hope to receive some response on this as I would hate to trash a nice software package days after it's release. Cheers, Anna A. Ros www.woordenstorm.nl
  10. Hello, I have upgraded to affinity photo and designer 1.7 from 1.6 and I am having a problem loading pdf files created via print "save as pdf" in 3 different web browsers, when opening it reads the fonts correctly but some of the text is over lapping in the text box and the only way to fix this is to copy the text in to notepad and the copy and paste back to the text box, this fixes the overlap. Has the new pdf import/load got some setting i am unaware of or is that a unknown fault with both programs. I can supply screen shots or files as required. Regards Chris
  11. Congrats to the 1.7 release! Upon pdf import the bounding boxes of text objects are not as neatly adjusted to the text field as they used to be in AD 1.6. As I remarked in the beta forum, I would really love for AD 1.7 to revert back to the behavior of 1.6, since excessively sized bounding boxes make alignment of text objects in 1.7 much more cumbersome. Alternatively, it might be a solution to have a shortcut to make bounding boxes fit tight to text objects? Thanks for considering this!
  12. Affinity Photo for iPad is a powerhouse for editing pictures from digital cameras... one at a time. This philosophy is embedded in every single aspect of the workflow, from importing and making adjustments all the way to exporting. I have created an account on this website precisely to be able to ask the developers or marketers of the app (if they ever read this) who and why they’ve decided to blatantly limit the functionality of the iPad version of the app compared to the desktop version. The fact that this limitation in function is not mentioned anywhere in the description on iTunes Store or in any of the tutorials or promotionals videos is appalling and borders false advertising. But I guess the answer has been in the title all along...after all, it’s Affinity Photo not Affinity Photos... Inquisitively and respectfully, Mihai
  13. Copying pdf vector data (macOS standard for inter-app vector graphics, in this case from Vectoraster) and then using it in Affinity Designer 1.6.1 to create "New from Clipboard" works fine. However, if you instead paste the same data into an existing open Affinity document the result is very strange with the graphics being upside down with the elements distributed incorrectly in the Y-axis. 14. Hello, If I import brushes in Affinity photo, I get a message that they are imported, but I can find them nowhere. So I do it again. I get the message that my brushes are imported in Fur and hair 4. But I all 4 I can't find. Anybody an idea? I remember having this problem before in Affinity photo. But not in Affinity Designer.
  15. I recently downloaded a new font from Creative Market ( https://creativemarket.com/dedemulyadi/908638-Heritage-Font-Combinations ) but I am unsure of how to add it to Affinity Designer on my mac. I am new to Affinity and I am completely lost. Can anyone help or give any suggestions on importing new fonts? I love using Creative Market so I am hoping the programs are compatible.

    Import - file name

Affinity for iPad question When an image is imported a minimum of metadata is available. Where do I find the actual photo file name - eg. _XP299876.RAF? It is easily found in LightRoom by taping the 'i' button.
  17. When I try to import photoshop, gbr and abr brushes, I see a message that says" brushes imported successfully" in/under ##### but I can't find them anywhere? Can anyone out there steer me to the correct Help topic outlining proper steps for importing abr or gbr brushes?
  18. I have SVG file that imported incorrectly in both Affinity Designer and Photo. 112.svg
  19. I have some photohsop styles I'd like to import into AP. One style at a time. I see where I can import a styles category, but I do not see where I can import one style. What am I missing? Thanks.
  20. When reading/importing a designer file into Publisher, it would be intuitive to have the option to import artboards as pages. Currently the whole document is imported as a single page with multiple artboards. A work around is to create a PDF and load that as then the pages are correctly handled - however the text isn't handled quite correctly - odd letterspacing, justification etc... Just a thought. Regards, Mark
  21. Importing a PDF or (the same file as) AI-File with some gradients bring a very disturbed result. Also the exported PDF looks like the preview on the screen. See attached screenshot. If I resave the .AI as EPS and import this to AP 1.7.0.293, the preview on the screen isnt very nice but close on the original - the exported PDF looks like it should. If someone of serif needs the .ai, please PM or answer on this thread.
  22. Hi. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, I apologise if it's not. I got Affinity Designer a few weeks ago, I used it to edit and make a few flags. Now when I open them, they are missing some core features. This flag is missing the Saint Patrick's cross, which is the red X, in the middle of the Union Jack, to the bottom right. It's like this in the UK flag, Australian flag, etc. It didn't use to do this, I'm not sure why now. They don't appear like this in the browser. Attached you can find, the UK flag, and the flag in the screenshot. Please can I have some help? Thank you. Flag_of_the_United_Kingdom (3).svg USERUK.svg
  23. Hello everyone ! Happy to share this with you today; Yes i'm back because power outage was fixed in my suburb but only for few hours then we may go back into ... no power at all for the time or number of days they decide . Not a problem at all as opportunity is given and i take it on both hands. Now let's move ! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Review and propositions for Affinity Designer 1.7.0.2 (also applicable to Affinity Photo and Publisher too) Well the new Affinity Designer load faster than what I've seen up to now and i'm really really happy with it and can just imagine how great would be the final version. Brushes are more fluid and easy to use and they flow in more natural way, it's simply a pleasure to make use of it. BUT !, because there is always a but in stages like this ! These are the few problems or difficulties i had with (that is existing since old versions): Brushes Loading was really fast (just drag and drop and click Ok) .afassets, .afpalette, and .afstyles still can't be added or loaded to the software by selecting them from the file browser using the drag and drop method. From the import window opening i can only select one item after another, would be very useful if select all is activated allowing to select everything compatible within the same folder then just click Ok/Add for the software start loading them. My Proposition to the above problem this is a proposition i have for the above problem i encountered and still encounter: Well, to me a good Fix would bean Assistant working similar to a font manager but a bit differently. It would ask the user where is the folder with desired stuffs to load then that kind of resource manager would scan that folder looking for everything compatible (palettes, brushes, styles, macros, etc.) then display it in a list (like when we try to add PS stuffs on Affinity) they would be classified by categories with level of usability and trust (orange, green and red etc.), from that place we would make our choice to activate and/or approve whatever we want (on a column with check boxes ON/OFF) and the software would just load our choice then after it is done we would receive a DONE message. That solution would make it even simple and take less minutes than leaving it to us to manually load them one by one and could be very helpful even for those using the iPad version and who have their stuffs somewhere on the iCloud. Please think about this, it may save lives. This is what I like from the new (affinity Photo) beta version : The icon used on the top bar to indicate the different personas are far away better than what Affinity had, it's more refined and i personally feel better looking at it, now left the tools icons, they need a refresh like you did with the personas icons: Please implement it on the next Affinity Designer, they are simple and beautiful. This is what i believe Serif should start thinking about or add in this beta cycle: 1- A rotate on plane functionality that will help us to rotate subjects such as shapes, beveled/extruded texts, curves etc... thus moving one step close to a real 3D capability 2- Make Designer more capable of making UI/UX with new functions or simply revised functions and why not bringing the Prototyping Persona where all prototyping for Ui/UX guys to feel at home and create the best they can or want. 3- The Fill Tool used to create gradient must now become curvable, allowing the user that create a gradient to also bend it or curve it in one or another direction or even or draw circles or complex lines with it, to me, it will make it possible to create the "up to now" impossible multicolored curved gradient that ever existed (maybe it does exist somewhere else and just don't know about... ) Well, that's everything i wanted to share with you and even bring up to light, may you have advice or corrections, please feel free, it will help us all grow ! Blessings !
  24. I'm making the transition from Lightroom to Affinity and I'm seeing really bad lag when trying to import RAW images taken with my Fujifilm X-H1. Like the whole computer stops responding, the CPU maxes out, and at one point I had to force reboot because I couldn't even kill the photo editor process. This is on a 2016 MBP with 8gb of RAM that runs Adobe products fine. I've tried both Affinity's RAW engine as well as the Apple one (X-H1 isn't listed under Affinity's for support, but it is supported by the Apple engine). Yes, I understand trying to import 2 dozen 20mp RAW images was probably a bad idea. But even importing a single image is taking over 1 minute on a class 10 SDcard connected over TB3. That's bananas. I don't see a lot of other people complaining about this so I'm just curious if it is normal? I've had issues with Fuji's RAW format causing problems in the past. I tried converting the RAF format to DNG first and that was marginally faster, but still really slow. I know this is a $50 program. I'm trying to temper my expectations. This is slooooow, though. EDIT: further investigation shows speeds are about twice as fast when pulling RAF files from the internal SSD rather than a SDcard, so Class 10 be damned, that's part of the bottleneck. It took 40 seconds to import/develop one image with the CPU maxed out the whole time. Still, that's probably within usable specs.
