  1. Want to use a vector brush? Want to use a specific color with your vector brush? Want to use a specific color that you carefully created and saved to your Swatches library? Too bad! Please add the ability to choose swatches within the color menus of the vector brush and pencil tools. Thanks!
  2. I reinterpreted the "Phoenix", which is included in the legends of many different cultures and has survived to this day, in my own style. ==
  3. On iPad Pro, Affinity Designer After pasting text from a web page on a Frame Text area, the background color (white) came with other formatting (font, size etc). It displayed as a white strip in each line of text (like highlight on a Word processor). See attached image. I didn't find where to change background color on text. The option is not available on iOS (as it is in Mac OS, see below). As a workaround, I've pasted the text in Google Keep and copied from there. On Mac OS, Affinity Designer Text pastes without the background and the text Character pallete shows color options for both foreground and background color. See image
  4. Hello, I've been using Designer on My iPad Pro since it became available and I dig it. However, I've run into a problem whereby the app is using massive amounts of storage which makes no sense. I have very few documents stored, fewer than a hundred, the vast majority of them are purely vector and no more than 5 or 6 include bitmap images, yet Designer is using 352 GB of disk space! looking at the info available it says that the app is using 922 MB and that documents & data are 351 GB. This is crazy! There is no conceivable way that the files I have in the app could be anywhere close to 351 GB. At first I thought it might be related to the fact that I maxed out the available undos in settings, however, today I changed that to 500 and went through each file individually and erased all available history, this however did nothing to decrease the storage. I have also added a number of items to my assets, but they are also purely vector and I can't see them taking up this much storage either. Surely this must be an issue with Designer itself? If Someone at Serif could reach out to me and help me sort this out or explain what is goin on here, it would be very much appreciated as I have been unable to backup my iPad now for over a month due to the massive amount of date required to do so — since I need the iPad daily I haven't been able to allow the 2 or 3 days required to make an iCloud backup. If any forum members have had this issue or know what causes this I would also be happy to hear any advice or suggestions. thanks for reading
  5. I seem to be having trouble doing this. Is this function not available on iPad?
  6. Hello everyone, Back with another illustration. Similar to “Light houses” this one is also a mixture of vector illustration with photography. The main vector objects (the monsters/creatures) where made in Affinity Designer then moved into Affinity Photo where I started with the background, removing all the people, followed by removing any text on the signs and labels around the train and replace it with my own text (a bit over kill since there kinda small to read and most people will never see it but was still fun to do) followed by placing the vector objects in, colour correcting the scene and adding shadows and other textuers such as dust and lens scratches. Overall the project was fun to mess around with and I’m happy with how it came out. Made with Affintiy Photo + Affinity Designer and made on the iPad Pro. Main image: Close Up: How it was made: Thank you for your time, Andrew.
  7. Hey everyone. I hope you all are well!! Been working on some illustrations and wanted to share one with you all. I've been message around with arts styles and started to play around with mixing raster and vector together and came up with this. Where I take vector shapes and apply raster effects such as brush effects and textures to it. Made with Affinity Designer + Affinity Photo on the iPad Pro. (With brushes from https://frankentoonstudio.com) What do you all think? Thank you for your time. Andrew Salfinger - Made by Campfire
  8. Hello, I can’t thank you enough for the wonderful software you guys have created. I’m glad to inform you that I have successfully and delightfully moved my entire workflow from Photoshop on the Mac to AP on the Ipad pro. The one feature I miss though is being able to use the Topaz Detail plugin for skin smoothening. I’ve tried various workarounds for smoothening, but nothing quite gives me the same result. Is there a way I can install the plugin on the IPad version of AP cheers Zaheer
  9. Could anyone please explain how to remove watermarks on Affinity Photo on iPad? I know how to do it on desktop but not on the app. Thanks a lot!
  10. Is there a way to nudge a layer on the iPad Pro? When I look under the help files on the open screen it mentions it but it doesn't say how to do it. Since there are no arrow keys is it possible?
  11. So I’ve been trying to import a vector brush set from Artifex Forge and the app keeps crashing when I try. I imported another (different) brush set file from Artifex Forge today and I had no problems with that one. The file imports to the Mac Desktop version no probs. I’ve also tried downloading the file onto the iPad from Google drive thingy as well as from my Dropbox but those only save into files in a greyed out way that I can’t seem to access from the Designer app. Analytics data report thing: {"crashreporter_key":"884cb2c7dfccd5d8c94a8e3582cbba449426dd90","bug_type":"211","timestamp":"2020-02-13 11:01:37.17 +1100","os_version":"iPhone OS 13.3.1 (17D50)","incident_id":"78F307EA-88D3-4E61-98FE-87A20D99D603"} {"_marker":"<metadata>","_preferredUserInterfaceLanguage":"en-AU","_userInterfaceLanguage":"en-AU","_userSetRegionFormat":"AU","configUuid":"c0bea9d6-cbf0-46ef-a11e-8e180d0e49f6","startTimestamp":"2020-02-12T00:02:21Z","version":"1.0"} {"_marker":"<end-of-file>"} I’m using iPad Pro (12.9-inch) (2nd generation), software version 13.3.1 and the Affinity Designer software on the iPad and laptop are both version 1.7.3. in case that helps. I’m attaching some photos in case that helps too. Thanks in advance for any help.
  12. 1. On the desktop version of the app in order to draw a straight line with the brush tool you can click to start the point, then shift click and it will connect those two points. Thus drawing a straight line between those two points. I cannot for the LIFE of me figure out how to do this on the iPad???? This is a MAJOR part of my editing workflow. I just want to draw a straight line but there are no modifier keys on iPad... (BTW I hate the pen tool. PLEASE don't tell me I have to use it to draw a straight line with it and then apply a stroke.) 2. Is there a side by side list of where the tools on the desktop version have been moved to in the iPad version? i.e. The quick mask is now located under the "blah blah" on the iPad app... ?? If there is a pdf manual that would be AMAZING because I am SO lost. I can't get any work done because I can't figure out where a lot of my desktop tools have been moved. Not having hot keys/modifier keys is killing me. 3. Suggestion for the app - Put a little square somewhere in the bottom corner that acts like a modifier key (shift, control etc..) on the iPad version. Procreate has a little square you can put your finger over and it acts as a modifier key so you can sample colors with your apple pencil. It's worked seamlessly with my workflow and I love it.
  13. I learned a lot about using Affinity Designer for iPad with this piece. - To select multiple objects in the layers panel, tap the first item and then two-finger tap the last item. Those two items and all the intervening items in the same layer will be selected. This came in so handy for quickly selecting those hundreds of scales. Thanks to @DM1 for this one. - To add a gradient to a stroke, select the object (or objects or group!) and then open the appearance studio. Tap the stroke and then the gradient tool and drag it to position your gradient as desired. You can see the different stroke and fill gradients applied across the scales. Separate stroke and fill gradients gave me the most trouble though. Repeatedly the stroke would become unselected, or the fill would be selected instead (or vice versa if I was working on the fill gradient), or the gradient would disappear and I’d have to start over. These issues made adjusting the gradient quite cumbersome and a bit frustrating. - To snap nodes to each other, well I never did really figure out which of the little symbols it was... but if you turn on all the snapping options in the node tool’s context toolbar, your nodes will snap. This was great for aligning the tip of the tail. And I’ve been wondering about how to do this for a long time. - Oh and I found the in-app user manual which is basically a lifesaver. I wish I’d known about it sooner!
  14. I was move a file out of a project folder on my iPad Pro, then suddenly Affinity Designer crashed. When I opened Affinity again, my entire folder with several vector images was gone. Completely deleted. No folder, no files. Which seems completely impossible since Designer for the iPad only allows for deleting files one at a time. Unfortunately, all of the vector images I lost were saved not up-to-date, so those files are completely gone now...
  15. Hello everyone I would like to know if the Affinity Designer Workbook applies to the iPad Pro version or if it is only for desktop computers Thank you
  16. Real Smoke (675 pixels).ABRI tried to import several ABR Brushes into my AP iPadOS Pro 1.7.3.155 and each crashed. I imported from Files, iCloud Drive, not local storage. I made a short screen video, cutting out private info, using iMovie. I did go to a Settings, General, iPad Storage, Photo and cleared data and re-downloaded. I also shut down iPad, to ensure data was cleared. IMG_1701.MOV
  17. I have a file in Affinity Designer file on iPad Pro (latest generation) that won’t open without crashing Affinity Designer causing it to restart. Is there any way I can get my file back?
  18. Hi, I started working on a photo composition again which I worked on some months ago. Last time I used this program before its latest update. But now the app is lagging hard, loads very long when I want to move any object or apply whatever changes, it crashes sometimes and freezes. In result the app becomes pretty much unusable and it’s frustrating. I’m using an iPad Pro 12,9 of the 2nd generation. Are there any fixes in sight or am I forced to get a new iPad now??
  19. Need help for the issue I bought black friday Affinity Designer on iPad but I paid the Price 22€ and not the 30% of 15€ why????
  20. When will Publisher App be available on iPad Pro?
  21. A couple of questions about Infer LUT What format does the image that you are inferring the LUT from? When I was using a .tiff image, pressed infer LUT, that took me to the image I wanted to us, selected it from cloud, screen went back to AP, then went back to the cloud source where I needed to select it again. It then went back to AP and applied the LUT. Is having to select the image twice the normal process?
  22. when using "open from cloud" I used to be able to see thumbnails of the files - this was very helpful as the names are often not enough. since a few versions ago its not possible anymore. my device is iPad Pro 11" 256GB
  23. Hey lovely designers. I've released a new video showing my process making the Joker! I hope you will like it! cheers! Jhon
