  1. Hello Forum! I am working on a catalog in Publisher 2, and am about to set up the index. My initial test export does not include hyperlinks for the index entries. Is it possible to create an index that will export a PDF with hyperlinks? I have selected 'Digital PDF' and do not see any hyperlink options in the export settings/menu. Thank you.
  2. I am creating a hyperlinked pdf intended for digital use, It consists of several weeks each week has several templates that are hyperlinked within the same week, I made each week's file seperately and when I try to merge weeks, each hyperlink points to the page within the same week in which was created but when I export it all hyperlinks point to the templates of the first week. I'm using anchors, and each week have different anchor names and they are added seperately to the same file to create the merged file. I checked those hyperlinks in hyperlinks section in affinity publisher and everything is correct but whenever I try to export the file, they get messed up !! I'm honestly a little bit disappointed because I'm launching new products in my business, I have deadlines and this surprise really ruined it all, I worked with V1 before and I didn't encounter a similar issue that's why I kept working on the project without checking in in the first place and now my 3 month work is ruined. You can find attached below afpub and pdf files Operating system : Windows 11 Software : Affinity publisher 2 SUNDAY-WEEK2.afpub SUNDAY-WEEK2.pdf
  3. Hello, When I open a pdf in Affininty Publisher (macOS) via File > Open... the resulting publisher document does not have any of the clickable hyperlinks in the original pdf. When I open the pdf normally on my mac I can click the links, but once it's opened in Publisher, they're gone. They don't appear in View > Studio > Hyperlinks, and export to pdf regardless of turning on "include hyperlinks" leads to a pdf with no clickable links. The pdfs I'm trying to open are originally html emails designed in mailchimp.com, converted from html to pdf using this converter, and then opened in affinity publisher. The forums does not allow me to upload a test pdf, but I've uploaded the html document which you could convert with the free converter and try to open the resulting document in your Publishers. I'm curious if anyone is experiencing the same thing. Test For Affinity Forums coverted from html to pdf.pdfTest For Affinity Forums coverted from html to pdf.pdf Test For Affinity Forums.html
  4. I've exported my Publisher doc to PDF. It has numerous hyperlinks which link to internal pages within the doc. When the PDF is open (I'm using Adobe Acrobat) and you click the links it sometimes "transfers" you to the top of the destination page, and sometimes transfers you to the same "height" as the starting page. For instance, I have a hyperlink at the bottom of every page that links back to the Table of Contents. If I scroll down later in the document so one of these TOC hyperlink is towards the top of the page I'm viewing, when I click it the TOC will be scrolled down as well. Does this make sense? Is there anything I can do about it? Ideally the destination for a hyperlink would always be the top of the destination page. Thanks!
  5. Dear Serif, My name in Andrea and I'm an Italian postgraduate in law. I have a huge problem when trying to export the affinity publisher file I'm working on, so that I kindly ask for your help. Hardware and software Preliminary information about the hardware and software I'm using: - macOS Monterey 12.3.1 - MacBook Pro 13", 2017, Touch Bar, intel Core i7, 16GB 2133 2133 MHz LPDDR3, 2TB, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 1536 MB - Affinity Publisher 1.10.5 (I've bought affinity publisher, designer, and photo) - Affinity publisher settings -> see the attached image Affinity publisher document affected by the problem I'm working on an affinity publisher document, about 47MB, made up of 37 pages. Almost all the document is made up of text, schematizations and mind maps. Some pages are very big in term of absolute dimensions of the canvas (even though the pages are not so big in terms of MB; as I've just said the whole document is about 47mb). The document is not meant for printing but for digital consultation, lessons and webinars, virtual dashboards, etc. If somebody from affinity can help me, I can send him privately the document (I don't want to share the document here publicly, since I have been working on it since almost a year, is stilla work in progress that needs a few more months of work, and it will be a protected document and an important work tool in my field. It's my biggest work up to now). What's the problem When I try to export the document in pdf, it appears me a generic error that tells me that the exportation was unsuccessful (and the pop-up doesn't tell me what's the problem). To be more precise I made various attempts, selecting, in the export settings, different pdf formats: - PDF (digital - small size) -> unsuccessful - PDF (digital - high quality) -> unsuccessful - PDF (for export) -> unsuccessful - PDF (for flatten) -> unsuccessful - PDF/X-4 -> successful When I successfully exported my file to pdf/X-4 I felt really relieved (since before I was a bit panicking). But.. as soon as I opened the exported pdf I saw that the exported pdf doesn't include bookmarks and hyperlinks (and then I started panicking again, since my affinity publisher files contains more that 400 hyperlinks, so that hyperlinks are a huge part of my work, and I cannot do without them). So, aware that the problem might be bookmarks and hyperlinks, I tried to export my file in PDF (digital - high quality), deselecting hyperlinks and bookmarks in export settings, and I managed to export my file successfully (but without hyperlinks and bookmarks) Verified that the problem are hyperlinks and bookmarks, unfortunately I really can't do without the more than 400 hyperlinks I made, since those hyperlinks are an essential feature of my document. I've checked for errors before exporting the file, but there are no errors related to hyperlinks, as you can see in the attached file (the only red flag in the screenshot below is the first line that tells me to refresh the table of contents.. and so I've refreshed it before exporting). I'm stuck and I don't know what to do. By the way, if advanced support requires me to pay something, I would totally pay for it. I just want to solve a situation that scares me (it would be impossibile for me, every single time I export a new version of my work - which will occur pretty frequently in the future, since laws and judgments are continuously evolving - having to export my file without hyperlinks and having to insert manually those hyperlinks with some sort of pdf viewer. If would require me hours and hours of work every time I need to publish an updated version of my file..) Thank you very much Andrea
  6. Hi, just downloaded Affinity Publisher Beta , (been waiting a long time for this release) and there is not the ability to create Hyperlinked pdf's, not sure if this is because it is a Beta or not, but in my workflow I regularly publish Hyperlinked PDF's and this would be a fundamental feature for me and many others . At the moment I do this using Keynote and its a great little software, but as I have Designer and Photo and hopefully publisher soon I could contain my whole workflow in the Affinity platform, so please please please include the ability to publish Hyperlinked PDF"s
  7. I'm just starting to design a few brochures for a project and I have Affinity Designer, Publisher & Photo to work with. I'm looking to add hyperlinks from some logos in my documents which will take users to specific website addresses when viewing the finished brochures as PDF documents. eg. click on a Facebook or Twitter icon within the PDF to provide a direct link to a specific Facebook page or a Twitter account. I can only see options for hyperlinks from text in Affinity Publisher and nothing to do with hyperlinks in Designer. Can't believe I'm the only one to have hit this challenge. Am I missing something obvious ? is it that Publisher and / or Designer don't have this capability ??
  8. I've read that if the objects/elements that have hyperlinks are grouped, the hyperlinks in the saved PDF document will not work, and that those elements need to be ungrouped prior to exporting. I accidentally left some grouped, and I didn't seem to have any problems. Can anyone clarify if there is anything to be cautious of in this regard, or am I free to group away? I prefer grouping for organizational clarity, but don't want to inadvertently cause any issues in the final document. Thanks, Gayle
  9. MacOS Catalina 10.15.7, Publisher v 1.9.1. 2 similar 1 page documents have a table. In 1 cell of table there are 2 different url hyperlinks - the text for each both show correct link in Publisher (and rechecked several times). They have been exported as "pdf (digital-high quality)" - these pdfs are to be published on a website. When opening both pdfs the link for 1 has overwritten the link for the other - hovering over or clicking on either link shows/opens the same url. All other links (url/email) work correctly. The 2 hyperlinked texts occur in the cell adjacent to "Location" (column 2, row 2) How can I get the links to show/open the correct assigned urls? Affinity Publisher-link issue1.pdf
  10. I noticed that in version 1.9, when I exported the same working file into a PDF, the TOC links won't click to the pages within the PDF. I didn't have such issue before in the last version 1.8.6. Any solutions to this? [EDIT] So I figured it out. Previously, I could export as PDF (for print), and the TOC links still worked, but now I must export as PDF (digital - high quality) for the TOC links to work. Makes sense that it's like this now.
  11. Just installed Publisher 1.9.0 What have you done to the anchors/hyperlinks? Document I am working on all anchors work as expected - contents page takes to where I want - that was in 1.8.4. Now with 1.9.0 I highlight a word and select anchor - add that to the contents page and when I try "go the hyperlink page", I get the wrong one. Further when I check the hyperlink on my contents page the anchor has changed to some other already used anchor. I can not get anywhere with correcting this. Help please. Steve "Ed"
  12. Hello all: I'm putting together a cookbook with lots of recipes. I'm having an issue with the table of contents. In the process of finishing this book, I've made tweaks that impact the table of contents. Every time I refresh the toc, all of my hyperlinks to my anchors disappear and I'm back to square one formatting over 300 recipes again and again. This is incredibly frustrating and time consuming. Am I doing something wrong? It would be so much easier if I knew enough to write a macro that would automate the steps for each recipe. Is there a way to refresh the toc so that I don't have to go through this process for every minor change?
  13. For those that have knowledge I have a MS Word Document that has a number of hyperlinks. When copy the text and paste it into a TEXT BOX in Publisher it strips out all the hyperlinks even though the hyperlink formatting remains? Is there anyway to bring these hyperlinks over with the text? Calvin
  14. Hello, In publisher, is there a way to define a background color for hovering over a hyperlink in a pdf? In the styles palette I can define a Highlight color for the hyperlink, but it is static and appears in the layout itself (also when printing for example). I'd like to have it show up only in the pdf when hovering over the hyperlink.
  15. Hi! I have created a workbook that has a number of tables in it. I've copied and pasted these tables from page to page and just changed out the info (not sure if I created a bug by doing that). Anyway, some of the tables are fine, but some have issues when I export the file to a PDF. It only happens with cells that have two lines of text, each pointing to a different hyperlinks (see attached files, cell B2—"Exercise", "A1, A1 AT HOME."). It works fine in Publisher, but then when I export it to a PDF, in cell B2, the first line of text adopts the second line of text's hyperlink (ie: "Cable Lat Row" takes on "Supine Dumbbell Pullover's" link). This problem only effects certain two-line cells, not all of them and I can't figure out what is different about those particular cells. I've tried deleting all of the text in the cell and retyping and relinking the text and that didn't make a difference. I'd really like to avoid having to recreate all of the tables that have problems. Any help you all can provide would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thank you! 16. There doesn't appear to be a way to use the same hyperlink twice in the same document in Publisher. Example: In the References section of a paper, I add hyperlinks (to pdf) to a somewhat wordy citation in 3 parts. To make sense of these in the Hyperlinks panel I give them short concise labels. No-one looks in the Reference section of a paper unless they have to, so in the main text somewhere, when this topic crops up I simply write "parts 1, 2 & 3" or "see part 1, page n" and add my pre-labelled hyperlinks to those digits. I can't seem to be able to do that. If I try to use Text | Interactive | Insert hyperlink on that "1" there's no choice list, I have to start again. My tidy Hyperlinks panel now begins to fill up with duplicates as I keep referring to that same hyperlink in my text. Have I missed something? It's not in the video or help menu. Is there a work-around? Thanks in anticipation
  17. Hello, this is a fantastic piece of software and it's been a joy to use so far. However, one large frustration I have is handling formatted text content from other places. Steps to Reproduce Copy text from a webpage, an existing PDF, RTF, Microsoft Word / Apple Pages / Google Docs document Paste into a text box inside Publisher or Copy text from witthin a text box inside Publisher Paste into a Microsoft Word / Apple Pages / Google Docs document Expected Behaviour Hyperlinks are present Newlines / paragraphs are preserved Actual Behaviour Hyperlinks disappear All newlines are formatted as paragraph breaks
  18. I have searched to see if this has been fixed in the beta but I couldn't see specifically if it has. I am using tables to create calendar months and then linking the days to a page in a daily journal. They are put in correctly but when I export to pdf it changes what page the link goes to. I believe it is changing the whole row to the last page hyperlinked in the week. Weirdly though, the last week is all correct. I have spent hours trying to fix this, exporting is super slow! Many times I can figure it out myself but I think this is a bug. I have resorted to making 365 text boxes and linking those to the pages. Also, if it is fixed in beta, will installing it overwrite my previous build?
  19. Hi, I'm new to Affinity, and I admit I'm a little impatient. My version of Affinity Photo is French so I can only guess as to the English names for the various tools, so bear with me. I wanted to use a brush to change colours. So I found this tool called "Pinceau de remplacement des couleurs" which I suppose translates to something like "colour replacement brush". Since I want to know how to use it I entered the name of the tool in a search box and found a nice page which refers to a Color Pannel (well, Paneau des couleurs in French). All this is very well, except for the fact that there is no link to the color panel documentation which indicates how to display it. OK, I found it in the end, by fiddling around and guessing, but it took some time. My remark is not specific to just this, it's about the lack of hyperlinks in general. By the way the Python language docs have a similar deficiency! So please include more links in your doc.
  20. Apologies if this has already been covered (I have had a browse through the forums), but I am a recent Affinity Publisher user, and trying (painfully slowly it seems) to migrate from InDesign, and have come unstuck with hyperlink usage... I am trying to insert hyperlinks at the beginning/index of a document which jump to specific pages, which seems an easy ask, but... (1) When I open the hyperlinks tab/panel, none of the hyperlinks I've created (which are all 'jump to page x' types) seem to appear? Have I missed something? (2) How do I set up a hotkey which'll allow me to 'Insert Hyperlink' once I've selected the relevant text and/or box/graphic?
  21. Dear Affinity Staff, I need to create page-type hyperlinks on the master page. Once I create them, I can see the hyperlinks on the "hyperlinks studio" but once I export to PDF (yes with the hyperlinks option checked), the links do not work correctly. Some work and some don't. Even more frustrating, the ones that work or not work, keep changing on every export. I've had this problem for months, on multiple files and on all Publisher versions I've tested. It is the only reason I still pay for InDesign! Please provide me with a link so that I can share the editable file with you. My process to create the hyperlinks is: I make a shape with Rectangle tool, then: Text > Interactive > Insert Hyperlink > Select the page number I'm attaching the exported PDF, I use a red tint to make the rectangles visible. In this example, I made 8 rectangles/hyperlinks and on this particular PDF, 3 work and 5 don't. I am on Mac 10.14.5 and currently on Affinity 1.7.1 Thanks! HoboCousin-MidYear-19-20-Monday.pdf
  22. When I add a hyperlink (go to page type) on a master page, none of the pages using this master gets updated unless I re-apply the master. Once I re-apply the master, the links start working on all pages but it creates a Hyperlink for each page so I end up with hundreds of hyperlinks in the studio panel.
  23. Hello, It would be great to be able to add URL's to image elements within Affinity Designer(AD) so when exported to a PDF the links works. Currently I have to export to PDF, then edit in Acrobat to add the URL's then if I need to change the original document I have to do this in AD then add all the links again in Acrobat. Very time consuming! Thanks Richard
  24. I'm used to the magic of InDesign, but working with Affinity Publisher is my hopeful replacement of this good, but overpriced software. Thanks so much for the BETA testing opportunity. Here's a wishlist and some glitches I've encountered: ● HYPERLINKS: Add the option to include hyperlinks on any text (including when it's saved to curves. (For example, I want to hyperlink /myname on my resume to www.linkedin.com/myname, but can’t, and don’t want to waste the visual space adding the entire link when an icon will do) ● BULLET STYLES: Setting up bullet styles could be easier. In general, I want a small indent on the text after my bullets, and the continuing text on the next line, and thereafter to be indented the same as the first line (pretty standard). Currently, this requires putting in a bullet, changing the Tabstop value, then scrolling up to the Spacing menu and putting in a left indent, which for some reason automatically changes the first line indent, which I then have to change back to zero. I think it would be better if A) changing the left indent doesn’t automatically change the first line indent - really no menu change should automatically change another menu item, IMO. B) The bullet automatically has a more standard indenting default, which people can adjust if they like. I think it’s unlikely that a first line only indent on a bulleted list is anyone’s preference. ● INSERT IMAGES IN TEXT BOX: I’d like to be able to insert an image inside a text box (ie. Where the bottom of the image is aligned with the line of the bottom of the type on a line as the default, but this could be changed, and/or insert an image in a table and have text flow around it. Right now, I can’t figure out if there’s a way to do this. ● SCREEN SPACE / INTERFACE IMPROVEMENTS: The Pages and Assets menu - on a small laptop screen, this is taking a lot of space that could be better used for viewing your design. I’d like to be able to shrink the menu to half the width, or close it completely. There’s a lot of wasted space if you switch to medium or small size page icons, so not sure why it has been given so much real estate! ● COLUMNS: When creating columns in a text box (ie. Not in a table), I would like the option to adjust the space between columns - I see you can move them - adjusting the columns themselves, but I would like to set a different spacing to apply to a whole text box. ● LINES: I can’t figure out an easy way to draw or insert a straight line as a design element. The option seems to be to use the pencil, but requires a very steady hand - would be ideal to set a start and end point and have it default to a straight horizontal, and/or snap to some logical angles when you rotate it. ● PLACING .AI FILES: For some reason when I’m placing .ai graphics, Affinity is adding a lot of extra empty space around the edges, which means the graph/ic is so large that I cannot find the corners to shrink, and/or clip it. I’m working with a really old version of Illustrator, so could be why? This is definitely causing some headaches.
