Hi I just picked up an A7RC -- it suited my needs. I was shooting in HEIF and compressed RAW ---Affinity photo 2 my preferred editor wouldn't open the RAW files ( but the file did in Luminar NEO) and would give me weird artifacts with HEIFs sometime displaying a double image ( They opened without a problem in Darkroom). I changed the RAW editor in settings to APPLE not Serif and it still didn't work-- any thoughts? Is the camera too recent? Thank you

I suggest Affinity Photo to support exporting High Dynamic Range HEIF (HDR PQ 10-bit) from RAW/DNG/ProRAW file. It could really be a killer feature in photo editing across any OS platforms. It is especially beneficial to users who are using some recent MacBook Pros supporting HDR10/Dolby Vision (e.g. iPad Pro 2021 with XDR display). For web publishing compatibility, HDR-PQ AVIF could also be supported. Please kindly support.

I recently purchased a Canon R5 series camera. I looked up supported files for Affinty Photo, which lists the ability to read HEIF files. https://affinity.help/photo/en-US.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Appendix/fileformat.html?title=Supported file formats However when I try to open a file using Affinity Photo for a directory that contains Canon HEIF (*.HIF) - no files are listed. I have installed the HEVC codec from Canon - its software now reads those files. Is there something I need to do in Affinity to be able to open them?

Hello everybody, the new fileformat HEIF allows effitient storage of high color depth, with SONY's standard directly out of the A7sIII and A1. You can store 10 bit 4:2:2 picture data, this is excellent and my Mac M1 BigSur can open it without any problem, but you Affinity Photo can not open them.(see attached messages) I am aware it is a container format, but Affinity should be able to open SONY and CANNON versions of this new modern Format. 😪 8BIT JPG is outdated 👨🦯 we all should change. Dear Affinity Team, please include this feature ASAP.. this is the format of Today 👍😃 in addtion to RAW.

Support of HEIF in 1.6? -
With the update to iOS 11, images synchronised from iOS devices to a Mac are in HEIC file format. When I attempt to open these images using Affinity Photo from within Apple Photos the application/extension reports "The file type is not supported." Opening a file from Photos in the Affinity Photo standalone app is not affected as the export process changes the file to a suitable type.

Hello, are you plannig to improve heic/heif format in import/export function of the Windows 10 desktop version? Windows 10 now can manage this format by installing free Photo Application extension from Microsoft App Store I think it would be appreciated by Apple iPhone owners. Thanks

I noticed today when trying to download and save a photo that I had an option of HEIF format - which may be going to become a new "standard". Out of curiosity I created one, and then tried to open it with Affinity Photo. It seems that AP doesn't handle this format - yet. This may become more important in the future.

Hi guys, Any thoughts on MPEG/Apple’s brand-spanking-new High Efficiency Image Format support? Affinity seems to be a logical choice for people who want to stay current on the latest and greatest standards, all with its fresh codebase and support for macOS-specific technologies… And let’s not forget about PC and iPad folks as well. Having Affinity support that format on all major platforms would greatly boost its adoption rate. What do you say?

I'm starting to use the iPad version and I found it really great. It would be nice if in a future version it will be supported HEIF codec complaint to iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra. Another cool feature but i know it will be harder to do, the possibility to use a Spyder5 to calibrate to iPad monitor. Like app ColorTrue does.
