  1. Pop Art Face comic style. Affinity Photo Tutorial requested by one of my Digitally Fearless subscribers. This tutorial uses blend modes, FX and a double half tone. https://youtu.be/9R1w1pRsAgU
  2. 15 Distressed halftone brushes for Affinity Designer. These brushes are created in Draw Persona (vector brushes) Check it out! https://www.amerkaricdigitalgoods.com/store/distressed-halftone-brushes
  3. I miss the feature a while now and im wonder why Affinity don't want to implement a halftone effect filter. A halftone effect filter is nothing you use everyday but if you want to use it you don't want to create all dots manually this cost a lot of time and looks still not like the halftone effect we know from Illustrator. Pls give us a TRUE halftone effect filter! Paul Knight
  4. I'm sure there must be a graphic novel in here somewhere. If I could be arsed. Addendum: Have added in another character study here. Not sure where all this is heading...
  5. Hey, I finally finished these halftone brushes for Affinity Designer. Useful for adding texture and depth. https://www.amerkaricdigitalgoods.com/store/19-halftone-brushes I used them on my work too!
  6. Here's a time-lapse of me creating a new comic-style drawing. Mistakes and back-pedalling included. Final result: Authoring file: Enjoy!
  7. Not sure if it would make sense to incorporate this into the vectorisation tool, but somehow I find it related: VECTOR HALFTONE... would be a killer feature that even Adobe doesn't offer. It is possible to achieve this effect in illustrator with 3rd party plugins from Astute Graphics – heres a link: https://astutegraphics.com/software/phantasm/ This could be a dealbreaker feature for many... (iPad version too, please)
  8. I just downloaded 1.5.1 and went straight for the Halftone Filter, which I need. There is no filter listed by that name. I followed the instructions and looked under Layers>Live Filter Layer. I also tried using the Live Filter button under the layers menu on the side. Still no filter listed. I had a halftone photo loaded at the time. Please help - where is the filter?
  9. Good afternoon folks, Today, I've been able to precisely point out an issue I'm experiencing when printing with embedded documents. For my wedding, I've created a wide variety of small labels and documents. To save paper, I've placed multiple of each on the same parent document, so for instance, I can print on one sheet of A4 paper, 15 labels 95x40mm. To obviously save time while modifying my label, I've first created a new document (95x40), which I've embedded and duplicated 15 times on my A4 main document. The problem is that the print rendering of the A4 main document is completely different than the print result of the embedded document printed alone. Steps to reproduce: Create a new document (will be the "label") and add multiple vectorial stuff on it (text, shapes, curves, complex vectorial stuffs etc.) In my case, Everything is pure black. Print it (laser printer, in my case, default settings) Save this document on the Desktop Create a new A4 document (the main one) Place (embed) on it the label you saved on your Desktop Duplicate and dispose many of them Print it (same printer, same settings) and compare with the first one I'm pretty sure that the embedded document are considered as images at the time of printing, and to me, this is a big issue as it's really kills the quality of my vectorial shapes. One the attached file, a photo of the problem (on top, the "label" document printed directly, on bottom, the main document embedding the "label") Any idea? As always with you guys, thanks for the support.
  10. Some more messing about while I wait for "real" jobs to come in.
  11. Was trying something different here, attempting to recreate the look of printed material. To this end I've create patterns of 1000s of dots to try and get that letratone/halftone feel. What's impressive is that Affinity Designer's devs aren't kidding when they say the thing never slows down or runs out of memory. It really doesn't. I think this number of objects would have made AI weep tears of blood...
  12. Good work peeps, every update the freehand vector brush tool improves and gets quicker and more fluent I'm hoping it's gonna be as great as Manga studio vector pen brush or mischief with the added ability to export and use in a pro manor - just did some exports to pdf and all vector info is retained, whereas in the previous version it would rasterise most of the vector work - the attached pic is a character Eric Idol who is the band mascot for the band THE IDOL DEAD - I'd love to be able to do the next ldol Dead job with affinity now things are getting quicker - but it's a new tour T-shirt which requires Halftones and spots - DAMN! looks like it's back to illustrator and Vectoraster or Manga studio (AWESOME HALFTONES but no vector or spot output) and InDesign - IF ONLY..............
