  1. Minor cosmetic issue, when moving guides the delta values show, for example, as 78;3 instead of the expected 78,3 or 78.3. Steps to reproduce: Move a guide 🙂 See attached video for reference. Thanks! Gravação 2023-07-10 150451.mp4
  2. I've run into a major issue trying to learn Affinity Photo 2 and Designer 2. I want to try Publisher 2 for some upcoming projects, but I'm concerned at this point it's going to be very difficult and that I may need an alternative. Are there text, not video, guides/how-to/help manuals for these programs? When I try searching online for resources to answer specific questions, I am often shown the wrong version, program, or OS, and no, search engines don't care about quote marks generally, so searching for something in Photo 2 can get me results for Photo 1, or either version of Designer. Also, many of the reseults I get are for windows, and I'm on an iPad. I desperately want text, not video, because video takes huge chunks of time (especially compared to scaning a page) to figure out the information I need isn't even there. If I check a few results I can loose an hour before I know what happenned. I've been working with digital art programs, including those for photo editing and graphic design, for 20ish years now. I know what the feature I need is, I just don't know where to find it in these programs. I fully accept that there are going to be differnces from Adobe, and I don't need the Affinity interface to be the same as any of the other programs I've used over the years. I do need to be able to quickly skim a resource, find out where the devs put the tool I need, and contunue with my project. Do text rescources detailing where to find and how to use tools in Affinity 2 programs on iOS exist? If so, where are they? Thanks in advance for any help.
  3. Hello, With version 2 of the Affinity apps comes with not only new layers interface, but also new layer drop zones and new UI feedback (blue highlights). I updated the cheat sheet to reflect these changes to help anyone who is looking for better understanding on how layers behave when dragged within the layers panel. Original post for version 1 of the cheat sheet here. This is a basic guide. It does not address all the possibilities of non-destructive masks, multi-nested layers, etc. There are many complex possibilities. I hope it serves to get you on the right track to understanding the foundations of layers in the Affinity Apps. Here is a PDF version: Layers Panel Cheat Sheet v4.2.pdf Note that my example uses the light UI. I did not create one for the dark UI, but the principles and feedback are the same.
  4. I might've missed it but couldn't find anything on the forum about this. Is there a way to create a new guide based on percentage? I often like to create either a simple crosshair (50%h, 50%v) or sometimes a rule of thirds grid (33.3%h, 66.6%h, 33.3%v, 66.6%v). As far as I can tell the only way to create grids is to drag them from the ruler or use the Guides Manager which appears to only let me use pixel precision, rather than percentages. Thanks!
  5. Direct delete and position feedback while editing (the proposal would be of interest to Affinity Photo and Affinity Publisher alike). A. You right-click on a guide and a new context menu appears. There you can select delete or edit. An alternative to a right-click could be a double click. B. The editor that opens would be the same as currently, BUT three new features would exist: If you have opened the editor via the context menu of a guide, then the corresponding guide is highlighted in the editor list. At the same time, the guide would also be highlighted in the workspace. E.g. it could be pink instead of blue. Great feedback when there are many guides. As soon as you select another guide in the editor guide lists, the same thing would happen, the corresponding guide would also be highlighted in your workspace. So you always know exactly what you are doing.
  6. Everytime i create more than one artboard the guide lines starting point begins from the first artboard, and as i edit the location i have to compensate the pixel distance even if i type the numbers.. and sometimes it gets back to zero, i know i must be doing somenthing worng.. Or it supposed to work this way? FullSizeRender.MOV

  8. Affinity Online Help Hello all, we're happy to be able to offer you an online version of the in-app help! Access Designer, Photo & Publisher Help here: https://affinity.help Here are some of the additional features we're able to implement as a result of having proper browser support: Dynamic language switching: The help will determine your language and (if it's available) serve you a localised copy of the help. If you prefer to read in another language, however, you'll find a combo box at the bottom left which will enable you to change languages—and stay on the page you're currently reading. Print: Sounds simple, but with full browser support we can now implement printing of the topic pages. The print icon in the bottom left will give you a nicely formatted printout of the current topic. Share: Clicking the clipboard icon will copy the current topic's URL to your clipboard, which means you can easily point other people towards topics that may help them. Responsive: The help was responsive anyway, including off-canvas menu functionality so you could collapse the window and still read a topic, but this is taken further in this version of the help. The help is formatted nicely and usable even on a 4" iPhone SE screen. Search: we've implemented our own bespoke search for the online help which is fast and accurate. Access it via the tab system along the top left. Favourites: you can add topics to your favourites list to easily access them during future browser sessions. Simply click the + (plus) icon next to the "Favourites" tab to add the current topic. With this online version you'll be able to print out topics and view them on your tablets/phones, which are two of the most common requests when it comes to help feedback. As always, if you have any feedback or find any issues with this online version, please let us know! Hope you find it useful.
  9. Explain exactly how to turn the symmetry guide. For example, I create a new document, turn on the symmetry and by default the symmetry guide is always horizontal. How do I turn it vertically so that it is exactly 90 degrees? If I start to rotate it, trying to roughly find the right angle (i.e. to put it vertically), it will still be rough rather than precise as there is no reference. And most importantly, when the guide is touched, it won't be possible to return it to the same position anymore, because there is no binding (to return to the previous position, you have to close the document and open it again). So how do you turn the symmetry guide so that it is not approximate? RPReplay_Final1587207939.mov
  10. Would be happy if you guys could add angled/Oblique guide line and to be able to color them.. like Inkscape does. Thank you so much...
  11. Hi everyone, I've just uploaded a 90 page guide covering the absolute basics of Affinity Photo. If you go here https://theeagerlearner.com/ and subscribe you can download it along with the photos used in the chapters so you can follow along. This guide could be described as the written equivalent of my Affinity Photo: 5 steps to Better Photos course over at udemy. Actually it's the first chapters of a larger book I'm writing which will be the broad equivalent of the Affinity Photo: Solid Foundations course, also at Udemy. But it will be slightly different. I may not cover all the topics from the video course but I will be including written material about using the develop persona to process RAW files, for example. So why do this? Well, I'm aiming to sell the final book and I want people to have a clear idea of what to expect. I also think that if you are going to give something for free as a taster, you should give something good that's going to be of real use to people. It also gives you a chance to give any feedback to me here so I can match the final book to peoples hopes and wishes. So I hope it gives you plenty of useful information and I look forward to hearing any comments you may have about it. Cheers, Simon Foster
  12. Greetings, I think we need to have an overlay while editing the footage in the edit screen. This would allow us to know where the center of the frame is at all time, that that would help us with tracking subjects on the video also on that now adding a tracking feature would be amazing! (DIY til this is added is me putting some tape with a bread crumb on it 😆)
  13. Hi, I want to know some points before I buy APhoto. Is this feature is available ?
  14. Hello, I would like to know the position (in %) of objects. For example if I have a dot at the center of my canvas, it would like to know that it is 50% from left, 50% from top. Is there a way to do this without having to do a cross-multiplication in pixels? Best
  15. Hey guys! Let me share this guide that I did recently, building this item using Affinity Designer on ipad! also I did a tutorial on my youtube channel showing in real time how to do it... jhonatan's youtube I hope this help you guys! have a great day! Regards Jhon
  16. I'm following an Affinity Designer tutorial on youtube. As you can see on the image below (extracted from the video), You can see 2 green lines of 88.6 pixels showing to help equally distancing objects from the center of the documents. I have the latest version of Affinity Designer (1.8.3.641), and these lines are not showing up. Is there an option or keyboard key for that?
  17. Hi, I'm pretty new to Affinity Designer software. I am trying to create a guide by click and dragging from the ruler with the move tool. I have read the comments but I can't make head nor tails of it. Someone claims to have found the solution by "unlocking the guides". When I searched a topic on hoe to unlock guides someone answered that a lock/unlock function hadn't been added yet and would be added at a later date. So, at the moment my left eye is looking in my right trouser pocked with frustration. Any advice would be great. Thank you Rob
  18. Hey, developers. There is a suggestion to improve one function in the program. I think that many others who draw on iPad and use the symmetry function lack accurate positioning on canvas. The symmetry guides have no anchorage and there is no way to change the angle accurately or go back to the previous position. Please add either the snap or the possibility to position the symmetry guides by numerical values. Thank you very much.
  19. Hello, I am currently working on an ecosystem map for a healthcare institution and I noticed this weird behavior of the grid and guides. For some reason when I try to select the guide, it disappears ? There is no pop up menu even when I even right-click on the guide to delete it. I have to manually delete from view>guide manager. In my previous project I had multiple guide and when I tried to delete it from the guide manager , I was lost. I couldn't tell which guide to delete since there were multiple guides on the page. When I also try to select an object, the grid shows another weird behavior. I used 100px and 8 division but the moment I drag the mouse, the grid square gets bigger. Why is that ? Thank you Guide and Grid Behavior.mp4
  20. I cannot set a margin when I open my artboard, I have to set it prior when I create a document. Plus, I cannot right-click to delete, duplicate, power-duplicate a guide. Please fix this bug
  21. The one thing that stops Affinity Designer from being the perfect tool for UI design for me is the lack of an ability to set up a guide layout. There is almost this functionality in the grid set up options, just without the ability to make grid tiles the full height of the artboard and add a default margin on the left/right/top/bottom independent of the gutter. The ability to save a guide layout preset in the Guide Manager and load it up in future documents has been mentioned previously, and this is potentially another great way to solve the problem, so +1 to that idea too. My issue is just that when setting up a new document I need to be able to quickly set up the bootstrap grid as guides before I start. My current workaround is to set up the guides in a document and use that as a template for any web UI work I need to do. Please consider adding a Guide Layout feature and/or Custom Guide Presets (honestly the Guides Manager is currently brilliant, it just needs extending). I'm so very close to being able to replace PS/AI with AF. Cheers
  22. hey people, just posting here this quick example, I did using Affinity designer, I think this can guide you by this art tips. 1 - Cartoon, use stroke over the shapes 2 - Flat vector by using only shapes, hard edges by shadow - NO Opacity 3 - Painting, using Pixel Persona, just draw inside of the shapes, and apply a realistic shading composition with brushes. thanks for watching, download full project access available exclusively for patrons members https://www.patreon.com/jhonatanssilva
  23. Publisher 1.7.1.404, Windows 10 Home 1903. When Preview Mode is OFF I can only snap to Column/Row Guides when Only Snap To Visible Objects is switched ON even though the Column/Row Guides are visible. When Preview Mode is ON I cannot snap to Column/Row Guides at all no matter if Only Snap To Visible Objects is ON or OFF. See attached GIF. When Preview Mode is ON I think snapping to Column/Row Guides should be allowed if Snap To Guides is ON and Only Snap To Visible Objects is switched OFF. This would make page layout much easier as there would be less switching back and forth to/from Preview Mode.
  24. Vertical Guides are being created in other artboards,... and i can't move them. Can't change position value. This is a recorrent bug in other tools envolving guides, column, margins.
