  1. I am working in publisher but I'm guessing this is a feature in designer as well. Anyways, I some how created this double gradient and I am not entirely sure how. Could anyone help? Also, is it possible to do this with the transparency tool to have it fade out in a square pattern?
  2. Hey there fellow affinity users. i have a simple question regarding Affinity Designer. Is there a a way to either copy a a color gradient or if possible to save it to use later? I typed out some text, went to fill and changed the color to a gradient that goes from light blue to pink. then i realized i need to use it again and i don't know how to copy it. i cant remake it because it wont be the same... Also if possible it would be nice to maybe save it as a custom one if possible to use again down the road..
  3. Dear developers, I found a bug in PDF editing with linear gradient. Please check these steps: Create a (CMYK) project in Affinity Photo Place a photo to background Place a Rectangle to your project Fill Rectangle with linear gradient with breakpoint, and will two gradients (see attachment) save and export to PDF open PDF and see gradient bug: put a mask what incorrect, not same as in project under any PDF version. Please fix this if possible, because if I have PDF only, no project, then need create again this gradient. Same results under Photo and Designer too. Project version: PDF edit version: My settings for gradient:
  4. Windows 10 - Publisher 1.7.0.128. Is there a way to get a Linear Gradient to be anything other than horizontal in a Text Frame fill? For example, I'd like to be able to make a gradient from light grey at the top, going down to white at the bottom. I've looked around a bit but I can't see anything relevant. It's not a big issue as I can easily do what I want another way (well, probably a few other ways), I'm wondering if I'm just not seeing a better solution.
  5. It looks like something's wrong with the Styles Pane options in iPad. Is this a known issue? Or is there something of which I'm unaware regarding my iPad? The righthand image is from my Mac.
  6. It would be extremely cool to be able to apply a gradient to a Gaussian blur on an object. Say you have a rectangle - the Gaussian blur could go from 0 at one end to 10px (or whatever) on the other. The object would start out solid and crisp at the one end, and gradually become more blurred towards the other. Would be nice for creating more realistic shadows, etc.
  7. I start with a portrait-oriented Untitled. After selecting the fill tool, the type won't change from "None". It snaps back and won't stay selected after I choose from the popup Type menu. Please advise, thank you.
  8. When creating a Gradient for a Gradient Map, in order to save it the only option seems to be to click the 'Add Preset' button, which adds it as an adjustment preset. The problem is that there doesn't appear to be any way to import/export these presets. I've instead tried saving gradients as Swatches (as Swatches can be imported/exported), but these don't work properly for Gradient Maps. Is there a way to import/export Gradients for Gradient Maps that I'm overlooking?
  9. When using the gradient tool it is too eager to create new stops when I click on existing stops. See attached GIF where, each time I click on an existing stop, Publisher creates a new stop (in a seemingly random place). A long click will select the existing stop - assuming you don't accidentally move the mouse too much and make the stop move - but short-clicking is different behaviour to that in Designer where the stop is selected. I'm not sure if this is how it it supposed to work in Publisher, but it seems a little counter-intuitive to me and not as easy to use as in Designer.
  10. Hello friends, Do you know how to apply the gradient tool to stroke? Thanks in advance. Regards, Nick
  11. Hey! I wasn't entirely sure if this went here, or feature requests, but I'll give it a go: I'm required to deliver work in .ai format, but I absolutely prefer using Designer as my main tool. However, whenever I attempt to import work with gradients in it into illustrator, it becomes rasterized. I'm not sure this is something you/Affinity can do anything about, but it really slows down my work flow when I have to remove all gradients and reapply them in illustrator, in order to use Affinity Designer for the work i need. Attached two files: One view of an object with a gradient in Affinity (tried with app store version and the current beta) and view of illustrator. Top leaf saved in Designer as EPS and "placed," bottom leaf copied and pasted. The square to the left is the raster image added within a clipping path that happens (see the layer panel.) Worth a shot! :) Let me know if I'm being impossible!
  12. Hi, "personas"! I am new to Affinity, but I am learning fast and now I need help. After learning how to use gradient tool, I was working on perspective and noticed that the gradient effect won't follow the changes (see image). I am using Affinity Design and the gradient was applied to simple shapes. I don't want to rasterise them. Does anyone know how to make the gradient follow the changes? Thanks. Love, from Brazil
  13. I searched but did not find mention of this, but from what can tell from the Affinity Designer Fill Tool help topic, the Apply to Fill button should but does not set the target for the Rotate, Reverse, Aspect, or Delete buttons to the fill. Instead those buttons always affect the stroke, as if the Apply to Stroke button was enabled.
  14. Hello Everyone, i am using Affinity Designer version 1.6.4 on windows today i made something in affinity designer. and then exported it i was using gradient but in the exported PNG file. the Gradient is not Smooth. in affinity designer preferences Dither Gradients is Checked see the image https://imgur.com/h8ic2rh
  15. Look like the gradient tool can't use document swatches for choose color and instead only use blended colors. Is there a way to use the document swatches? I did something wrong?
  16. Hello, I'm evaluating Affinity Designer and Photo to replace AI and PS in our workflow, what I need is to make a very smooth gradient without artifacts, is there a setting in AD where I can do this?
  17. More than 150 ready-made gradiens in .afpalette format. I picked up the best solutions for your creativity. WORK WITH VERSION 1.5 Beta AND HIGHER http://www.demo.egorkomarov.ru/Gradient-palette-for-Affinity-Designer/
  18. Hi all. I've spent way more time than I should have trying to get a gradient fill to go vertically in Designer. I don't think I've ever before seen a graphics application that offered a gradient fill but lacked any way to control its angle. Even if there is a method buried somewhere in this application, it may as well not exist. It needs to be in the gradient-fill controls. Baffling.
  19. Hi How do I add a 2 colour say red and blue to either replace the sky or over lay or maybe a gradient vignette
  20. Hi guys. Carefully ported gradients from https://webgradients.com/ It may contain some inaccuracies, but in general it is usable. Enjoy. WebGradients.zip
  21. Hi guys, I have created a color gradient in a layer fx (see image) - now I want to copy that gradient somehow or ideally make it a swatch/global gradient. But I don't see how. Thanks in advance, Stefan.

    Gradient and tiling patterns

Whenever I try to use the gradient tool to apply a tiling pattern, this is what I get instead:
  23. It might be useful to have a way to apply a gradient on a curved path, and even a custom path, instead of just a straight line/other preset option.

    smooth gradients

I've tried to create a smooth gradient which - after discovering that dithering is a 'performance' option in the settings and disabling it - looks OK in Affinity Photo. However, exporting the image (apparenly no matter what format) re-introduces the noise and my gradient is once again not smooth: (left: magnification of the gradient as displayed in Affinity Photo. right: magnification of the exported png image) Not being able to completely disable dithering is imho either a bug or a terrible oversight. another thing that seems dodgy about gradients is that sometimes changes to positions or midpoints of pivots don't get saved but reset to their previous setting when saving or switching to another layer. The way gradients work in Affinity Photo's current version is pretty much unusable for me, which forces me to go back to GIMP for this task :(
  25. I've noticed this issue a few times over the past few weeks. I will be adjusting colors and opacity in the gradient panel of Designer when the program will crash. I don't feel like I'm doing anything out of the ordinary, but thankfully everything has been recovered.
