  1. Quick Tips: for finding Affinity content with Google Search Search engines: It’s easy to underestimate the power of a simple Google search (and it’s apparent many people on online forums who don’t know how to make use of it). It can save you a lot of time, because someone, somewhere, at some point has undoubtedly had the same question you have—all you need to do is find out where they asked it and what answers and problem solutions they got in response! With a few helpful Google search engine tricks, searching the Affinity Forum via Google can be made much more effective. The Common Search In general, you should string search terms with a space together to start the context search. Thus, the input "Affinity forum gradient" or "Affinity forum macro" in the search window shows all found link entries on the screen which contain those terms. Quoting ("...") helps to search after more closely related search text here. Extended or Exclusive Search To make Google search more effective, you should use so-called operators. Here are some of them. A tilde (~) before a search term makes the term synonymous. So "Affinity ~forum" brings both the Affinity forum as well as hints for possible other related forums. With a minus sign (-) you can specifically exclude terms from the search. For example, the minus designer in "Affinity layer masks -designer" calls up a list of Affinity layer masks related entries without designer in the context. With a plus sign (+) you can instead specifically include terms to the search criterias. Search in and for Websites To specifically search a particular website/page, prefix your search term with a "site:URL" - where the URL is the web address of the site/page on which you read the info recently. For example, "site:affinity.forum.com macro recording" searches and calls for a list of threads which deal with macro recording on the Affinity forum. A minus sign in the "-site:URL" input behind the actual search terms excludes results from the named URL. So "Affinity video -site:youtube.com" will exclude all Youtube videos from the search. With "site:de" it will only search German websites with the extension .de; Of course, other endings like .org or .com etc. can also be used here. With "related:URL" you can find out if other websites have similar content. In order to browse only publications from a specific period, you must connect the adjacent years with three points: here "2014...2018" only lists publications between 2014 and 2018 in the results list. For example in order to find at affinity.forum.com current practical contributions to macro recording you would use "site:affinity.forum.com macro recording 2016...2018". Some helpful browser shortcuts To speed up the search in general, there are a few shortcuts available. For example, "Ctrl + F" will bring up a small search window at the bottom of the page that will help you to search the current page for terms. Ctrl + or - enlarges the view, zooms in or out. Ctrl + L moves the cursor back to the address bar so you can enter a new website or search term. Calculations, units of measurement and currencies The Google search engine can also calculate and convert. For those of you who struggle with mental arithmetic, just type the math questions directly into the Google search window using the +, -, * / symbols. This calls at the same time the calculator for further input of even more complicated tasks. If you want to convert units of measure or currencies, you can also type these directly into the search window. Thus, the input "inches in millimeters" picks up a unit calculator, with "pounds in euros" you get the current price displayed as well as references to various currency converters.
  2. Hi! I don´t know how to explain this here we go... I have a Google Pixel 3 phone and take RAW (DNG) pictures using Adobe Lightroom Mobile, then I export them as Original and open them in my Computer with Affinity Photo. The results processing the photo in Lightroom Mobile directly is way better than doing it in Affinity Photo, do not get me wrong, I am NOT saying Lightroom Mobile is better, I am saying that Affinity is not reading the image appropriately, I already tried adjusting "Assistant Manager" and actually improved a little bit after changing the image to "32 bit HDR" and deactivating "Tone Curve" The image looks even better if I open it with the Windows Photo Tool: and as you can see, I already tried with the last Beta version(1.9.2.1005) and got the same bad results Here you have the best example I could give you, look at the miniatures, one of those is a DNG that was processed directly in Adobe Lightroom Mobile and then exported and the second TIF file is just the same but exported in this format: If I open both in affinity then the DNG file looks like the left/Above image and the TIFF like the right/Below one I attached the original RAW file (1) and the other one that was processed and then exported as a DNG (2) if it helps Please let me know if I am breaking any rule, it was really hard building all this post and I have searched a lot in google and Affinity Photo Community but without success Regards, LRM_20210128_174302_(1).dng LRM_20210128_174302_(2).dng
  3. This is probably very silly request, but it would be great to somehow export a series of artboards directly to Google Slides. I work in a company whose Sales team loves Slides, but it's such a redundant process to design higher-level artwork only to have to go through the export-relayout etc. process to go from Affinity to Slides.
  4. Google has just announced that their Google Nik Collection composed of seven Photoshop plug-ins is now free for everyone. Click here for more details. You can download them from here. Currently Analog Efex Pro 2, Color Efex Pro 4, Silver Efex Pro 2 work with Affinity Photo. HDR Efex Pro 2 only works partially.
  5. Google Hindi Font Typing not Supported, If anyone has solution please tell me.
  6. Hi, I hope webp is finally implemented soon in Affinity. We use is for every website and need other applications now to work with webp. Besides the fact that the most popular browser in the world is using webp (Chrome) more browsers are coming along with the implementation, so it's about time (I hope!). https://www.zdnet.com/article/firefox-and-edge-add-support-for-googles-webp-image-format/ The webp code is here to use for developing in Afinity: API for the WebP Codec The WebP team has provided an extensive API to allow developers to add support to their applications, including browsers, image editing tools as well as native applications. Consult the API documentation for a description of libwebp application programming interface. Regards & Thanks, David
  7. My students are creating drawings in google drawings and exporting as svg. When I import the file to tinkercad, we only see vectors instead of the object. We're using macbook w/ high sierra. Thanks, MarianneChomp (2).svg
  8. Hi, i added the new NiK collection by DXO to my affinity and it's not working, it keeps loading with no progress till i force shutdown affinity. Is there any solution for that matter? i followed the steps in the below link for adding it https://youtu.be/D7kRQTMI1Nw
  9. Hi! I have trouble importing RAW-files to my iPad Pro (12,9, 2nd gen) running iOS 10. I have uploaded NEF-files to Google Drive from my Nikon D300. The problem is that they won't open. If I try to open them from GD with the "open in app"-command, nothing happens. And if I navigate to GD from within Affinity Photo the NEF-files are greyd out and cannot be opened. I tried to send a file to iCloud Drive but it too is grey and cannot be opened. I converted one of the files to a jpeg. and it opened just fine from GD. Looking forward to your reply, thanks! - Tuukka
  10. Allow import and export from Google Photos.
  11. Will we be able to use the (now) free Nik plugin collection from Google in Affinity Photo? It would be great as I always work with those ones. I tried re-installing them but Photoshop is the only supported platform it seems. This would have a dramatic impact in my choice of switching from PS to Affinity!
  12. I have been following the plugin installation instructions and I can see the plugins from NIKEFEX that I want to use when I use the filters menu chain, but non of them will open. The preferences - photoshop plugins- window was used to set the directories, and the use use unknown plugins box is checked. Is this a bug or a function of Beta release?
  13. Hi Guys, congratulation for the awesome work. Your product is for sure a game changer in the market now. Since affinity have the Version for mac and windows (and now ipad on the way), i ask. Do you have future plans to make versions for linux and chrome OS. I think with these 2 systems included, the name of Serif and Serif products will blow up. I wish you the best, and keep the good work.
  14. Hello Guys!! This is my first post here, so if I am doing something wrong... I am sorry =/ So, I am really trying to make the salt & pepper effects from the google illustrations and I am failing hard. https://medium.com/google-design/salt-pepper-the-art-of-illustrating-texture-c962dc67cc35#.f0q6cw9rs <--- Here's the reference article. Links from resources, or articles based on affinity designer are a really good tip for me too. Thanks very much!
  15. Just started using Designer, and Photo, this week. Made a quick wish list (feature request grid) sheet on google sheets, Thought I may as well share a public version for people to edit and add their own Wish Items (Feature Requests) to have all in one place. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rilNYZcXRp338ycLsity5Uw4xOXexxfJ3_DKNgzl9WM/edit?usp=sharing
