  1. Would be nice if palletizing can create a global/shared pallete from entire document or selected elements. Each exported slices often have inconsistent color on continuous area such as solid color background.
  2. I got a question from a outsider... If AP can do premultiplied alpha gifs? some has a answer to this? Thanks.
  3. Export GIF from a document with a transparent background and an object with a gradient from 100 percent opacity to 0. It is not displayed.
  4. When I export a GIF with transparency, Outline layer effect become hollow. This seems to happens on all Affinity, all platforms.
  5. I realise Affinity Photo doesn't allow animated GIF editing currently (only the first frame is loaded), and i read in the help forum it isn't planned. However, I would love it if: 1) When an animated gif is loaded, each frame is loaded into a timeline, where you can set the time delay for each frame. 2) Each frame is on its own layer for editing 3) The edited gif could then be exported as an animated gif. It is one of the only major features I miss from Photoshop, and yep, I am aware you try to avoid direct comparisons, and I understand why. So far, the program is great though! Thanks.
  6. Animatior in Affinity Photo, and or Timeline?? I think that it would be super cool if Affinity Photo like Photoshop added frame by frame animation, this is a huge downside to using Affinity Photo for me, I don't think it should become a seperate product since, well, I already have Affinity Photo, I do not need a full fledged animator and they already have their hands busy. The idea would be you could makes frames and export them as .gifs and maybe .mp4's? that would be cool! all the features would pretty much be a copy of photoshop (maybe some cool feature aswell.), then cartoonists could animate, photo editors could do some sick things and designers could make sick banners and internet .gifs, If affinity added this, I would completely forget about photoshop and leave it in the dust, affinity is amazing and with animation it would be great! Thanks for reading this post! please consider this :D - Segovo
  7. Hi all, Having cancelled my Creative Suite subscription, the only Photoshop thing I miss is its ability to create keyframe animations and output them as APNG or GIF files. This is very useful for me to create little animated buttons for my 360° virtual tours. Thanks, Mark.
  8. In the Export Persona, when exporting an image for the web and you want the size as small as possible, you want to see a preview of what you will be exporting. So you can change the quality of a jpeg and see instantly what the result will be. The same when you change the number of colors in the palette of gifs and pngs. Also show the sizes in bytes of the slices you are exporting. The size is shown in the simple Export, but not in the more advanced Export Persona. Fireworks does this very well, it even has multiple previews with different export settings.
  9. So ages ago I asked about using Photo's stack function to generate aligned images for an animated GIF. All the hints were about using the slices in the export persona. But I never got the crop to work on all the slices. I have seen similar questions and answers since then. Today I tried again, looked through answers and one thing finally gave me the hint I needed: Rasterize & Trim, that finally resulted in an applied crop in the slices for export. So if you do not use Rasterize & Trim your slices will not have applied crops, it looks like this: But if you painstakingly apply Rasterize & Trim to all the layers, then you see an applied crop in the export persona and everything is fine: Any ideas on how to apply "Rasterize & Trim" to all layers in one go? And just for completeness a hint on the GIF generation: ImageMagick is very easy, but also very inefficient, so I switched to FFMPEG which produces GIFs that are half the size in a much shorter time: ffmpeg -framerate 4 -pattern_type glob -i '*.png' out.gif Note, I use PNGs, with JPGs I had artifacts. cheers afx
  10. I want to create a PDF with an active, moving GIF. I know it's possible with InDesign. How about with Affinity Publisher? Deciding which program to buy. Thanks, Meowface Sam
  11. When exporting an image with a solid white background as a GIF, the resulting file does not have a pure white background (255,255,255) and is off-white (e.g. 253,253,253) and sometimes dithered as well. This even happens when pure white is the dominant colour in the image. As a web developer it causes huge problems because the image sticks out like a sore thumb against pure white elements adjacent to it on the page. It's supposed to blend in, but it looks horrid. It was reported 3 years ago by someone else and has not been fixed. Having used various software for exporting to GIF for the last 25 years, Photo does the worst job of managing the palette and dithering. It needs to realise what the dominant colours are and ensure they're prioritised and made into one of the indexed colours in the palette. I'm tired of having to export as a full colour PNG and then use a different program such as Photoshop 6 or Faststone Image Viewer to save it as a nicely processed GIF. For a one-off export it's okay but when you have dozens of GIFs to export it's a very painful joke. Photoshop has a feature to let you manually lock individual colours in the palette if it's automatic assignment of indexed colours wasn't to your liking. 8/10 times it does a good job by itself while Photo is more like 0/10 times. 😞 Photo also has a problem exporting GIFs with a transparent 1 bit background, but I don't want that to side track from the main reason why I'm reporting this as a bug here. Please show the export tool some ❤️ which hasn't really changed since Photo was launched. Apart from fixing the GIF issue, it would be nice to have a live preview like other programs have had for, oooh, 20 years. The example1 attachment is an exported GIF from Photo and example2 is a zoomed in screenshot to illustrate all that horrid and unnecessary dithering of the dominant background colour which effectively gives it an off-white colour. I've included the original afphoto file too. Thank you. original.afphoto
  12. Hello everybode, I would like to suggest the feature to export animated gifs from Affinity Photo and/or Affinity Designer. THis feauture would be so cool and helpful, because with it we could create at least basic animations. Have a nice day
  13. I’m trying to find out if we can add an animated logo to an image? https://photologo.co/animated-signature-logos/ Through Photologo I purchased an animated logo and for the life of me I can’t figure out how to get Affinity Photo or Design to let me use it. I’ve tried placing it, like I would a regular logo or image, it places a blank box. Any suggestions?
  14. Know how like every filter in Affinity does this amazing live preview thing where you see what you're going to get before you commit to it. > LOVE THAT < Well, I was attempting to export an image ...in this case it was a GIF with a reduced color palette... What I was hoping to see, as I was trying to find the right size / quality-diminishing balance, was a preview of the export along with the estimated size. How cool would that be! Unfortunately, I had to export the file and then go see on the file system if what I got was usable. ...ick
  15. I've read a thread about a full animation system which is way out-of-scope. But, a simple layer to frame animated gif export would be handy and quite welcomed. Also completely non-intrusive. Thank you
  16. Hi Guys, I have been trying to export png's of icons for a website. These are pretty small but there's a lot of them as they are used in CSS sprites. Normally I would export these as a gif or png8, but your settings only allow export to be dithered and that gives me some real quality issues. I'd love it if we could have an option not to dither the png8 and gif exports. I've attached the following files so you can see the problem: - site-product-icons11-OLD - The original png8 file out of Photoshop, undithered - I have just added 1 icon to the bottom of this file site-product-icons11a128 - 128 export (dithered) out of Affinity Photo - you can see the problem in spots of colour on say the LR logo 900px down and the steel logo at 450px down site-product-icons11a256 - as above but more colours to see if that was the issue site-product-icons11 - png24 export not showing these issues (no surprise really), but is almost 3x the file size. Thanks
  17. In Photoplus X6, it was possible to export an image to a gif at a bit depth of 1. This meant that I could put line drawings into my novels, and keep the file size to a minimum. I now have Affinity Photo, and I can't seem to find a way to do that. Does it still exist, or do I have to revert to PX6?
  18. Hi! My problem is that whenever I export a logo or image to PDF/PNG without a background the image/logo always ends up with black outline. This has become a problem as my clients have come back to me a complained about it. I tried converting font, etc to curves and I have looked at the way I export e.g. Making sure that I my document has that the colour format and dpi match the export. PLEASE HELP!!! Regards Marshall
  19. What software do you use for gif animation aside from Photoshop? Ability to save it as video would be helpful too. Thanks
  20. Affinity Is The Best of All...But it would be good if we could edit & compose motion image like GIF...Can we get this in future update...!? :^) or I'm just pushing You guys in trouble...!!! :^(
  21. Hey, I would love to see the feature that makes it possible to create cinemagraphs in Affinity Photo. For this it is required to be able to edit short video clips in Affinity Photo just like you can do it in Photoshop. I just found it out today because I see more and more cinemagraphs on Instagram and wondered how to create them. Then I found this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dD_yeVMUzo I don't want that Photoshop feature to be copied because there are options in Photoshop that are more complex that it is required. That's why I really like Affinity. There are so many features and a clean working space. I hope I am not the only one who is interested in this feature to be implemented. Best regards, Andy
  22. I mainly use Affinity Photo for visualization representation. Unfortunately, still images can only go but do far. I have access to a gif, I want to be able to still keep it a gif while adding annotations onto it or next to it describing the scenario in the gif. How do I go about this?
  23. Please add a choice of dither types when exporting GIF and PNG 8-bit images. As most web designers know, to get the best out of limited palettes you need to use the most appropriate dithering algorithm. Photo doesn't provide any choice, but it would be extremely useful to web designers who care about optimising their images for both file size and quality. If it can be implemented at the same time as a LIVE PREVIEW of the export settings then that would be mega cool. Thanks.
  24. I'm new to affinity photo (using windows version). I'm trying to take a png logo file with transparent background and save it as a much smaller file ~ 159 x 55 px When I do this with gif or png8 it looks terrible (upload of export attached). I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but not sure what. Any suggestions on settings? I'm trying to keep the file as small as possible which is why I'm not doing png-24 although that looks fine. Thanks in advance.
