  1. Problem 1: Designer 2 will open and then freezes at the “samples” screen. All buttons (e.g. prefs, new document etc) will not activate. I’ve waited up to 10 minutes for something else to happen. I’ve also uninstalled the app, re-downloaded and reinstalled designer several times today. I have shut down and rebooted my iPad Pro multiple times as well. This app is critical for me as a designer and illustrator! I’ve upgraded to 16.4 today. I think this is the problem. According to Apple, I can’t reinstall 16.2, which is the last ‘compatible’ designer 2 release. Is there a work around I don’t know about? Problem 2: My affinity designer 2 folder disappeared awhile ago. All my designer files (regardless of version) are in one folder. I can access them but designer 2 thinks they are all v1 files and requires me to import them. Any solution here? Reinstalling designer 2 doesn’t fix the problem.
  2. Hi, I have problems with Affinity 2 products not starting and/or freezing on me. Win 10, Lenovo ThinkPad. I mostly use Designer, but once this happens, it usually affects Photo&Publisher as well. I had these problems for MONTHS. - I normally have the most recent updates for Windows 10, for my graphics drivers, Affinity products, etc. This persisted past multiple updates. - Right now, they are current as well. I don't know how to prove it. But from the experience of the past months (and multiple updates), updating Windows, Lenovo drivers, Affinity products, hardly solves anything. - When Designer (Photo/Publisher) freezes on open, there is nothing I can do short of closing everything, rebooting, uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling, rebooting, praying that some of it will work... - Please understand that I use my computer for work, have SSH terminals open, etc, so rebooting is not always an option. - As a result, Designer is unusable for me most of the time. Honestly, this is my last shot at finding the problem before I ask for my money back (upgraded to V2 hoping it'll help...) and go look elsewhere... Designer.DMP What I do know: - comp specs: Processor: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz 2.80 GHz RAM: 32.0 GB (31.7 GB usable) System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor Pen and touch: Pen and touch support with 10 touch points Graphics card: internal, Intel Iris Xe Graphics - there is usually nothing in the %USERPROFILE%\.affinity\Designer\2.0\CrashReports\reports , and right now, there is nothing as well - for this particular case (today's error), I went to Task Manager as Designer was trying to run and created a dump file, see attached - this (today's dump) is a case of Designer freezing on open. The splash screen disappears, UI starts to appear, and that's the end of it: - no, I really cannot reboot right now, it'll compromise my work calculations. Alas, I got so grown to using Designer for illustrating my work... can't use it anymore. - here're the settings: - when I press Ctrl+click to run, it does not open the dialog offering to reset anything. (This can be because I'm running it from the Start Menu.) - I do use DisplayFusion. I had learned to close it before running Designer, just in case... if it had ever helped, at least once, I won't be writing this bug report in such a desperate tone... admittedly, sometimes I try and don't close it, and Designer runs. I don't know why. - I don't know what else to do or what information to provide. Please help. This can't go on. It freezes pretty much every second time I try and open it. And it freezes after at most 24hrs if I just leave it open (so, say, having an illustration to return to is no longer an option). - I had learned to rely on Designer for work to make illustrations (I'm a scientist), create graphical journals, etc. In the last maybe 4 months, I truly felt crippled. Say I'm at a telecon, can I open Designer to do an illustration on the fly? That's a coin toss. I'm back from lunch, is the Designer with a screenshot database of my project still open? A coin toss. A colleague asks to update an illustration I've made in the past. You get it... Upgrading to Ver 2 did not help, so it kind of feels like I've wasted money upgrading. It really can't go on like this. Please please help. Thanks.
  3. Since updating to Windows 11, version 22H2 Affinity Designer crashes and is unusable. Need a fix asap! Anybody else having similar issue? Anyone got a way around this, have restarted PC but no joy!
  4. Hi, Since I installed the latest update my Publisher freezes with every click, literally every click. First, I have to double click in order to simply select another page and it takes at least 5 seconds (no joke) for the selected page to start loading, IF it loads. if I want to do anything in the top menu, like edit the document set up, same issue, it freezes. I've also had to end process in the task manager to be able to close the program. I tried restarting PC, cleaning storage, repairing the installation, uninstalling and downloading the software again and increasing the speed on the performance section of the preferences menu. Nothing works. Last night I spent 6 hours working on a document that would normally take me 45 minutes. It's really bad Thank you Publisher 1.10.4.1198 Windows 10 Pro 64-bit OS
  5. See video attached. When I apply the contour tool it creates a weird broken contour that I am not sure is supposed to be like that. Is there maybe a way I can avoid this? Also, I hardly can work with it as it freezes the app and I have to restart it. Thanks. Contourartifact.mp4
  6. I am experiencing this issue since the 1.8 update where the erase brush tool freezes my application every time I increase or decrease the brush radius. It sometimes will take several seconds before I regain control of the application again and in some instance I think the program has just hardlocked on me. I have always had my performance setting to GPU and I have a Nvidia RTX 2070 Super so I don't think its my hardware, I did not experience any freezing like this in 1.7 either. I've been working on a 4096x2048 document as well in-case that extra info is helpful.
  7. 😑 When I run Designer For the first time lt works fine. After working for 30-45 min, it starts to lag. Everything becomes slower & perform slowly. Like, selecting any object or layer lags for 1 sec. I'm on version 1.8.3. In the previous version (1.8.2) I didn’t face this problem. There is no specific file that I can attach. It is same for every file, mainly for larger sized file. I tried resetting the software holding ctrl key while launching the software, but it does nothing. My windows is up to date. My laptop config ( i5 6th gen, 8gb ram, 250gb ssd ) is fairly well too.
  8. In a book interior with 192 pages we place a sentence on a page. There are 500 different sentences for 500 different book interiors. The input is an afpub file the output is a PDF/X-4 file. Between each file we take one minute pause. The output PDF/X-4 is around 500kb. Affinity freezes every hour. To get it going again we have to close Affinity Publisher and start it again. My question is how we can achieve that the program doesn't freezes? Thanks in advance for your time and with friendly greetings, Michael
  9. Downloaded Affinity Publisher 1.8 today. Completely useless. Opens document then freezes ... and doesn't unfreeze ever so have to unplug laptop to switch off and start again. Only downloaded as version was using previous day started freezing as well, though not as badly. I am not a technical person at all. I am just making children's books with text and photos (around 70 pages-- around 50% photo pages 50% text pages-- and photos are linked not embedded, not by choice but seems that was all it could handle) and very very simple graphics. So it's no use asking me or sending me any technical stuff. Having wasted a lot of time in the last 2 days I am up to here with this programme as it is! PLEASE can somebody tel me which previous version is most stable? I think I can access 1.7.3 OR 1.7.1.404 from my downloads file (though haven't yet tried to re-install either). Is there something better and how do I access that. Help would be gratefully appreciated. Amy
  10. Hi, I have a user that is using your hard and software for Affinity and equinox 2.0. It was installed on PC1 for years and worked without any problem, suddenly it stops working. I tried to re-install the software from the CD-rom gotten at purchase, everything is fine until i try to open the .exe file and it instantly crashes(xxmodulesuite has stopped working, windows is looking for a solution) the computer has all the requirements thats asked for, I am running windows 7 with all the latest windows updates. I installed it on a similiar specs machine with Windows 7 and it works without a problem. Could this be a driver issue? I have not yet checked that all the drivers are up to date. Best regards
