  1. Aloha y'all. . . I'm curious about building a family-tree structure in a horizontal fashion across a two-page spread. I have all three Affinity flavors - so building it in Photo or Designer is no obstruction here. My best notion to this point is to build a table, input the data as I need... then go back and hide the unused lines and boxes to give it a more specifically-designed appearance... in that fashion, I use as many as I need as I go and won't need to design it in completed form before I start putting names into it... (IF that gibberish makes any sense to anyone else but me...LOL) * * * Any hints or tips are welcomed... IF anyone needs more detailed information about what I'm specifically trying to do, I can supply that. * * * Born on Maui Isle, Home now, North Carolina; Aloha y'all. . .
  2. I'm trying to recreate a form for school registration, how can I create dotted lines or the underline for forms in publisher? Similar to how it's done in InDesign in the following links.
  3. Hello, there is something that is bugging me, or something maybe I did not understand the right away after watching Affinity Designer Tutorialvideos on your learn page. At first I was excited because you guys added the possibilities to add curves/nodes in one excisting curves/Path. Like in this Image I tried (1 Forum): Now I hoped that Affinity Designer would now recognize 2 different closed form in one existing path. I selected the fill tool, tried to hover it to the closed form on the right side, but instead of filling this closed form with a color, it does this (2 Forum): why? I hoped thos would speed up my workflow, but it seems like I still have to make 2 different paths in order for Affinity Designer to recognize 2 different closed form. Would be nice if Affinity Designer could recognize several closed form in one path! Does anyone have a workflow to this (workaround). I hoped to use the pathfinder tool much less (does AD also call it the pathfinder tool?) Oh, by the way, the isometric advanced tool is sooo awesome...good work serif
  4. So, I generated this SVG file in Affinity itself and saved everything perfectly; as shown in the Opera view and also when I open in Inkscape, the SVG file is working perfectly (attached prints); only that, when I re-open the SVG file in Affinity, the layers that were one inside the others - to generate the format of the photo - get lost; they remain in the file, but as if they were hidden below the photo. I guess it's not intentional and, as seen, I'm reporting it as a bug. Thank you, guys
  5. Hey, I want to snap the corner of the following triangle to the corner of the other shape displayed. I tried fiddling around with the snapping tool but when I align the shapes and press shift it always overlaps and doesn't connect the corner. Any tips would be highly appreciated!

  7. For macros I was trying to do arithmetic calculations for rectangles in the transformation form fields - but aside basic numeric arithmetic calculations (that work out fine) none of the constants and functions mentioned in the help file works in the german version. I'd be surprised if other commands were used than those in the english version or those mentioned in the help file. Any idea? In case the problem is not in the code but between my ears maybe there are examples somewhere on how to use the constants and functions properly (some kind of tutorial or training)? Any help appreciated, Timo
  8. I'm excited to hear about potential feature set for Affinity Publisher as a long time Adobe Indesign and Acrobat user (still using CS6 and refuse to jump on the CC bandwagon). First, I wondered if there were plans to have Affinity Publisher act also as a complete or partial Acrobat replacement. For example, often I will need to rotate scanned pages from a photocopier, extract or delete pages, crop, make annotations (grading academic work, for example), creation of fillable forms and drawing markups etc. all in the native PDF format. Being able to open a full (or partial) multi-page PDF using the document's existing page size would be excellent for quick editing. Second, an annoyance and possible solution to a over-complicated workflow in Indesign. I often create artwork for music CDs and use pre-existing templates from replication factories. They tend to use one layer to show guidelines for text safety regions etc. Once the artwork builds up and I'm trying place various graphics and text within the guides, it would be great to be able to quickly make all layers more transparent with one key toggle so that I can easily see the underlying guides and line things up. Right now, I have to click on objects, click on transparency then use the slider to make more transparent. Then the same again to return to print look. Make sense? It's frustrating right now...maybe I'm just missing a key Indesign feature. Finally, I assume Publisher will include Pantone, spot colors and varied PDF output options including booklet creation? Would be great to have advanced imposition options including number of sheets per signature etc. to cater for simple small booklets (a la OS X create booklet service) to big thick manuals requiring 1 sheet per signature ( a la Cheap Imposter). Thanks!
