  1. Greetings, I'm a user of the whole affinity suite and I haven't come across any bug until now. I'm trying to open a TGA file that has a resolution of 9600 x 11035 px (72 DPI, 11 MB), but no matter which method I use to open it, A. Photo closes immediately. It seems to be related to the format, as in PNG it opens fine without any issues. But I really need to have them in TGA as that is the format I use to save my renders from Blender, to avoid gradient banding issues. Any assistance would be really appreciated. Thank you
  2. Hi everyone, new user of affinity publisher design and I absolutely love it. haven't used software like this since ms publisher 2007. I designed this little 16 page zine and it was super fun, however I wanna save master copies for different versions (print and digital). Right now I have the pages set up in spreads where they face each other. all of the spreads feature a pair of pages except for the first and last page, which are each on their own spread. however, when I export it as a pdf for digital view I think I would look better if I could have the first page and the last page on a single spread. Can someone please let me know how to do that if possible? Thanks!
  3. Hi, Affinity Photo reads the message "the file type is not supported". System Windows 10 Affinity photo : 1.8.3.641 File : see attached file In the folder only few files are unreadeabled. All the file are read without problem with ViewNX. Best Regards. Yves POUJOL. DSC_4762.NEF
  4. Hello, I created a background with a gradient in Affinity Photo. In the doc and when exported, I and someone on a separate computer I shared the image to can also see the banding on the image. I tried: exporting as a JPEG, PNG, PNG-8, and converting the file format to RGB/16 and RGB/32 (HDR). RGB/16 seemed to smooth the image more but there were still bands in the image. I also tried remaking the background in RGB/32 but the background did not turn out. The image is 1920 x 1080 300 DPI How can I remove the bands or export the image without the bands?
  5. Hi, I'm very much a beginner with Affinity Photo after years of only editing my photos in RAW form in apps like Lightroom and Capture One. What I've always understood is that a JPEG file is the final form, with edits 'baked in'. The idea of adding an HSL or brightness and contrast layer to a JPEG file seems very strange - surely this will push a compressed image too far? I understand adding pixel layers with creative effects or combining images, but what is the expert opinion on adjustments? My expected workflow will still be doing essential edits in a RAW editor, but should I export the end result as a TIFF file, for example, for more creative work in Affinity Photo in order to preserve quality and avoid artefacts?
  6. Can people make and use big formats like A1 and bigger in publisher?
  7. If you apply to an object a gradient and then add a modification using the transparent tool the result will be one gradient predominating the other after exporting using SVG format Only works if there is neither a gradient or a transparency applied, not both together sample 1.afdesign
  8. Wouldn't it be a great feature to support Microsoft xaml-files for drawingbrushes? There are some svgtoxaml converters out there, but it would be a much better workflow to export the xaml-files direct from Affinity-Designer. So I can use my favourite tool to design my drawingbrushes in my wpf-applications.
  9. This is not request for Affinity Suite itself but compatibility with 3rd party software. XnView is one of most popular image browser and it's free. It's faster than Adobe Bridge and has more features. So I would like you to communicate with them and help them to add Affinity file format support to XnView MP.
  10. Would be nice if you could add additional cropmark format.(Japan/China format) This has bleed guides that regular cropmark doesn't. https://www.mojoprint.jp/tutorials/2007/07/10/understanding-the-guides-and-marks-used-in-the-templates/ https://indesignsecrets.com/japanese-and-chinese-crop-marks-for-indesign.php https://www.printarabia.ae/help/creating-data/what-are-trim-marks
  11. Comic book tools could feel right at home in Publisher with its Designer and Photo integration. Speech bubble tools with linking could be useful. The panel creation tools in Clip Studio could be instructive.
  12. Hi. This is getting me nuts and I don't know whats happening. When I copy text from Word and paste it inside a text frame on Publisher, what I get is a bunch of in-line text boxes (One for each original line of text). It doesn't mind if I paste directly or if I use Paste without format. The output is the same. Pasted text is not even in the paragraph style. I don't remember this happening on the betas. Any suggestion will be pretty well received. By the way, I'd love to have a preference setting for "Paste text as without format" on the preference pane so we can optionally use command+v directly without bringing Word garbage and without having to do finger yoga with the keyboard, but that is another story. Mac OS 10.14.5 Word 10.26 Publisher 1.7.2 Tested on different machines, all same output.
  13. It is an inadmissible waste of time that when exporting a file, for example tif, always appears 8 bit, when I always export 16bit and have to display the list and change it each and every time. How can I make my default file format appear first in the list? Thank you
  14. Currently I've got to convert my CR3 files to DNG before I can edit them in Affinity Photo. This is really inconvenient, I'd love to edit CR3 directly in Affinity Photo!
  15. Hi guys, When I copy text from Word for example, the font of my text field in Affinity changes to SymCat (it's a weird font, I have no idea why I have it installed ). Anyway, if I copy it first in Notepad, which doesn't support text formatting, and then I copy it to Affinity, everything is cool. But it's way too time consuming. Is there a way to stop Affinity from formatting text I paste in a text field? I only need the text content, I don't want the formatting from another program, doesn't make much sense Thank you, Chris
  16. Hello, I have a drawing that has all vectors. There are no raster/pixel elements whatsoever, and every assistive shape that Designer has to offer has been converted to curves. Literally everything is curves and I still can't export to a PDF without it rasterizing. According to a graphics designer whose been working with this stuff for 20 years knows that PDFs can preserve vector elements, so he needed my graphics for laser-engraving a piece of wood, and he uses Adobe Illustrator. We tried .eps, .psd, .pdf, and .svg, and all were rasterized on export. From what I've read, Affinity Designer's export module just doesn't seem to cut it in the production world and is half-baked compared to Adobe's. It appears buggy and cannot consistently output vectors, if you can even achieve that at all. Why is this? Every time we opened the file on his program, certain parts of my document were rasterized for no reason. To solve this, he had to use the "image trace" feature to vectorize my raster export that should have been infinitely precise curves on export to begin with. Why does a vector application not export vectors without rasterizing them? That's like Logic Pro X not being able to export to a .wav file! Any help is appreciated.
  17. Hi, I encounter a problem when exporting files with file>Export >PNG-24 in Affinity photo 1.6.5 on PC windows 10 1809 (this problem occured in previous versions). The file exported is not recognized as PNG-24 (even well selected in the dialog box). I explain : I make games for VR and I have PNGs to send via web to store platform. The store always says that the PNG I send is not PNG-24. You may say it's a website related problem but NO : If I open the exported-by-affinity PNG in Paint.net software and save it again in PNG-24 => no problem. In short terms : -PNG-24 exported with Affinity photo = > Wrong format -This last Affinity photo's PNG-24 re-exported with Paint.net => It OK. Are you forgetting to add some tags in the file ? Making custom things in it ? (Another problem : when importing a fresh Affinty created PNG-24 in Unity, it takes ages, whilst not if created with other software). Thank you. Cédric.
  18. Every time I try to change and replace the text's colour it crashes. I've converted it to curves but then I don't know where to change and replace the colour unless I select element by element manually or on the layer panel. Any tips until this bug is sorted? Thanks, IR
  19. Hi, i need "nested formats". Hope they will be integrated. E. g. if i layout a "Menu" then i go with tab to a defined Position and need there an other Format for the Text. Like the sample below. Description e. g. Glass of milk 200 ml 1,80 € I want the Format for the Text changes if i insert a "Tab" or other defined operations.
  20. Hello, In .afpub 1.7.0.145 for macOS Mojave, I've noticed that text formatting/font changes upon PDF import placement. It doesn't matter whether I set the document to place as an embedded image or linked. The PDF appears fine when opened on same system in other viewers (Apple Preview, Adobe Acrobat, & Pages). I suspected it could just be AfPub's preview of the placed PDF however it retains the wrong formatting upon exporting as PDF also. The solution to fix issues like this is to have the PDF Options dialog popup when a user selects File Menu - Place.
  21. Hi, When I try to open the attached nx.hdr, Affinity Photo 1.6.4.104 says "This file type is not supported." It can be opened in other application. Thank you! nx.hdr
  22. I often have to create a lot of files in various formats for my customers. What would be a really good feature would be a "Bulk Export" Dialog, were I can choose: the formats I want to save with checkboxes The location to save A name for the files I think the best way to do this regarding settings would be to take the last export settings from the regular export dialog.
  23. I think games development needs TGA support... Working for a major game developer (EA) as a director, although it is admittedly an archaic format, TGA is an essential format for day to day use. This is a format that although we do not necessarily manually write too, it is the way we store the image in its raw format and I suspect many other studios do too. Higher depth formats are becoming more prevalent, but for now TGA is an essential format that without, we could not recommend the software rollout.
  24. I recently learned about the new upcoming image format called the High Efficiency Image File Format (or HEIF), which was mentioned in the Windows Blog (https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2018/03/16/announcing-windows-10-insider-preview-build-17123-for-fast/#OALyDY4AdhDIahYX.97). After looking into HEIF, I was wondering if Affinity was working on support for HEIF for Affinity Designer & Affinity Photo (or if support is already there). The initial impressions of HEIF look promising and might be an image format that can improve workflows. If you need details on HEIF, I've posted links below. 25. Hello, I am new here so I suppose the best thing to do is introduce myself and let you all know what my topic is about. To begin, I am a professional landscape and nature photographer. I create HDR composites that I sell through stock agencies and also in local art galleries in Sedona and Jerome AZ. For many years I used Photoshop CS5, and it did what I needed done as far as image manipulation and editing. But a short time ago my old MacBook running Lion OSX failed. The GPU in the logic board burned out and I got the white screen of death. I wanted to get it fixed but the parts were no longer available, which forced me to buy a newer Mac running High Sierra 10.13.3. PS CS5 does not work well on High Sierra. It would not update and it often crashed with errors. Adobe technicians told me that CS5 had never been tested on High Sierra and probably would not work. They advised me to get creative cloud, but I told them I was not going to rent a program. I only buy programs with perpetual license. I found Affinity Photo while searching for CS5 alternatives. I have been testing Affinity for the last couple of days and so far I am impressed. It has many of CS5's capabilities, but the controls will take me some time to get used to. I will probably end up buying the program when the trial period is over. But there is one thing that does need improvement with Affinity. It need support for the JPEG2000 format. I have several hundred images stored in that format and Affinity cannot open them. I use the JPF format to archive my master copies after all editing is finished. I put them in a folder with the original camera raw copy. The reason I used this format is because it supports LAB 16 bit color, just like a TIF, but has lossless compression and has half the size of a TIF. This format is also being used in some video applications. Since Photoshop supports JPEG2000 I think Affinity should consider supporting it as well if your company wants to compete with Adobe on their level. I can use another program called ColorSync to convert my old JPF files back to TIF but that might degrade their quality. So if you are considering adding JPF support to Affinity please let me know. And if you're interested in seeing some of the work I do here is a link to one of my portfolios. The images on this site are being marketed through Getty Images. My HDR lightning composites are my biggest sellers. http://www.roomtheagency.com/profile/555/ Thanks for listening.
