  1. instead of simple blur and sharpening for brush. For digital paintings, the brush needs more filters. This will unlock the horror potential of affinity real-time filters. Adobe is powerless to fight back, they don't even have a ture real-time filter (PS Smart (Live) filter is a flawed flaw) This will shatter PS status as a digital painting. (Greatly enriched brush expressiveness) (And with very high performance.) Guaranteed by MacOS gpu drive performance leaps). Windows supports GPU acceleration in the future, Guaranteed by the lead developer. PhotoLine and Krita support this feature, but both lack GPU acceleration. (The lack of GPU acceleration drive this feature is ridiculous, they even limit the brush size at a lower level because of their poor performance) The outstanding performance of affinity easily harnesses this disruptive feature. Even in very high brush size, get lightning-like speed. Redefine the brush filter.
  2. I would like to know if there is such an option as "Selection by color or object." I need to change one color in an open project to another  . Manually it is uncomfortable to do for a long time :( . I very often use these functions in the illustrator. The choice of color and object does not pay due attention in all similar projects, and this function allows you to reduce time and money  . I would very much like this feature to be awarded, or similar to it, for example the filter by color and outline, text and so on. Thank you for your work, very much I hope for an answer. :)
  3. I recently had to re-set Affinity Photo to factory defaults and now whenever I apply a Live Filter Layer it becomes nested under another layer (whichever is highlighted). I used to always have it apply as a separate layer, now I have to manually go and click on "release filter" to get it as its own separate layer. There must be a setting for this in preferences but I can't find it or am I doing something wrong? TIA.
  4. Good day, I found that the preview of applying filters in develop persona is not consistent over the image, the filters being applied partially, please see the attached images. The filter is correctly applied on the exported image, the problem exists in the develop persona, when editing the image. I am using Affinity Photo 1.8.3.180. This bug does not exist on MacOS. Love Affinity Photo, keep up the good work!
  5. Hi everyone ! I'm testing Affinity Photo and I'm pretty satisfied with the whole. I had a little pain to understand how it works sometimes (because of my Photoshop habbits...) but I got to figure out how to use it. Until... now. There's something I want to do that is very, very simple as just changing the luminance or just colorizing a layer "quick and dirty", and it seems to be impossible... but I want to be sure. So concretely, I have one layer between many others which needs to be altered quickly. I supposed it was on the Filters menu, but I couldn't find any light/contrast, HSL, and those sort of basic filters there. Everytime I searched on Google and in the forum, it was always about a live filter. But... I don't want one - especially because by default it will be applied to all the sublayers and not only the one I've selected ! So yes, the solution is to create a group, put the layer inside then I can create a live filter on top, play with the parameters then merge it. But now I have a useless group layer which I'll have to remove. That is really complicated for nothing, in my opinion. I don't understand why can't we just apply some basic light/color filters in the Filters menu just like the other filters. Or... maybe I missed something, and that's why I'm here. Would anyone have a quicker way ? Thanks in advance for your reply. :)
  6. Hello, This instagramer https://www.instagram.com/ibdansch/ (ibdansch) has a stlye that I like a lot. But I simpley can´t achieve it. Also I have to say that I am a beginner. Could you maybe tell me a tutorial, the name of the style or some tipps & tricks to achieve this? Best Regards Magic Mike, The real one
  7. Unsharp Mask filter is needed since resized image on Affinity is not crisp though Photo has Unsharp Mask to fix it. Unsharp Mask filter option on resize/export would be nice also.
  8. I cant find anything similar with "color lookup" pre-defined color filter (As you can find in Photoshop) on Affinity Photo. Does anybody know if exists a similar feature here? If not, is it possible to create and save pre-defined automatic color adjustments? Many thanks!
  9. Please, can you add Mesh Wrap to Live filters? I need it as a live filter for Embedded documents sources manipulation. This way it will be easy to replace the image (in the Embedded document) and keep the deformed mesh intact.
  10. I’d like to request a blur tool that varies the degree of blur between paths. Much how contour lines on a map indicate altitude, the path would set the blur radius. Not to be confused with the path blur you get in photoshop; it’s closer to a field blur, but instead of radial points it uses vector paths. I really dislike using masks on blurs as it looks unconvincing. I’ve tried other methods for realistic focal depth on a 2d image (painting my own z-depth, multi layered blurs, etc) but they are quite a lot of effort to make. I feel this method would be the quickest and easiest if only it existed! If this tool already exists somewhere/anywhere, please let me know! I’ve tried to illustrate the idea below (excuse the lame character)...
  11. I m a fairly new user of Affinity and still learning the many features of the program, but am enjoying the experience nonetheless. There is one area that is causing me some frustration. When I open a raw file (select, File., open and file that I have exported to Affinity specific folder), I can perform most editing functions from the options on the right panel. However, after watching I training video about using a layer and sharpening mask i went to open either "Layer" or "Filter" from pull down menu, but both options were not present. Without a file open, My menu shows from left to right: File, Edit, Text, Layer, Document, Select, Arrange, Filters, View, Window, Help. With a file open the Menu show: File, Edit, View, Window, Help. (see attached screen shot) Of course with the few options I am limited to what I can do. Any ideas? All options on Studio are checked and have been reset, but I understand they relate to the right panel anyway. Any help would be most welcome.
  12. I have attached a mask layer to a Gaussian blur live filter layer. After inverting the layer I begin painting over objects to be blurred. Some parts of those objects display "tiled", e. g. in you can see a vertical line under the period of the previous sentence. Look more closely and you'll see the tiles. I'm running Affinity Photo 1.7.1 on a 2018 MacBook Pro 15" and macOS 10.13.6. Turning Metal computing off and restarting didn't alleviate the problem.
  13. Windows 10 Home 1903, Publisher 1.7.2.471. When I add a Live Filter – Perspective, Twirl, etc. - to a layer, via the Photo Persona, what I get on-screen is correct – redraw is a bit messy but I can put up with that for now – but when the document is exported to PDF the filter is no longer applied. Exporting to a PNG seems to be fine, exporting to a PDF is where the problem comes in (I haven’t tried other export formats). See attached AFPUB, PDF and PNG for examples showing (clockwise, from top-left) Twirl, Perspective, Voronoi, and Motion Blur. Note: I’ve been told that the same thing applies to exporting to PDFs from Photo but I’ve not tried that myself yet. Note: I've used both Adobe Acrobat and Firefox to view the PDFs and they both display the same way. This was originally discussed here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/95828-affinity-publisher-how-to-use-affinity-photo-live-filter-perspective-on-text-frame-via-studio-link/ live-filters-in-pdf.afpub live-filters-in-pdf.pdf
  14. Hi! I have a black and white vector layer which I would like to use as a mask for another. However, Designer always sets it as a clipping path, instead of using black und white for masking. Is there any way to change that behavior, or at least to make all black parts of the layer transparent so can work as a clipping path? The reason behind this is that I‘m trying to rasterize a gradient for a monochrome print. I‘ve prepared a B/W mask using the Halftone Filter: Demo file for the above image: vector mask.afdesign
  15. The voronoi filter started out working fine, but it started getting worse at adding more and more black around the edges as I used it. I have no idea what is causing this, but I've restarted the program, and I'm still getting the same bad results.
  16. So this one is a bit of a niche filter, but it is one of my favourites (it does an excellent job at breaking up hard edges, and helps bind layers together beautifully if you're going for the grainy look but don't want to introduce standard grain/noise) Especially when photobashing for concept art, "I use it on the daily".
  17. Hi, i just bought Designer as a potential replacement for my beloved Macromedia Fireworks (which was the best Vector/Pixel hybrid tool out there – shame on Adobe for killing it). The first thing i am missing in Designer (possibly just can't find it) ist, a Sharpen-Filter for imported pixel art. In Fireworks i could add a Sharpen od Unsharpen Mask Effect via the "Filter" Palette which was non-destructive and could easily be removed again from the image. I was hoping to find Sharpen in the Layer-Effects of designer, but it wasn't there. It's also not under Layer-Adjustments. Is a sharpen filter simply missing and if so, is that a planned feature? Note, i did see the "sharpen" Brush, but that is not what i am looking for as i want to apply the filter to the whole image in a non-destructive manner. Thanks for any pointers!
  18. Hi, Just found out about this software and wanted to know if Affinity Photo software has a tool like Photoshop's Camera Raw Filter that works on jpegs. much thanks Darren
  19. Hello People Hello Dev's and Team Well today i'll make it simple for this amazing product we love. I would suggest a new Special Filter to be developed and implemented on Affinity Photo. The Skin Tone Live filter This Special filter should take care of helping the user to process skin tone adjustment in a Pro way and with ease of use. it should come with a tonal range picking tool that allow to pick and a set the initial/reference point/color range we would like to apply into areas we wish to correct. The filters should be Live and Non Destructive allowing a anytime tuning. The same filter should also include slider that will help us achieve things like Smoothing etc... like existing Filters is should have a Mask in it so we can paint the adjustment on specific areas we think we need to correct. let's say i want to make a model skin uniform, i would select the skin color Filter, use its picking/tonal range selection tool and click on the area that i think is the good/best tonal reference point, once i get that point it becomes what i will paint using brush tool in areas i think should be corrected, then i paint into areas i want to uniform to see them updated with selected tonal range and from the same Filter i should also the able to slide left or right (starting from center) to smooth or sharpen the applied skin tone. This should help us spend less time working on model/portrait skin tone but gain great results. if others can learn from us then we too can learn from them but make it 1000 times better than how it offered/presented actually. That was my suggestion for Affinity Photo. Blessings !
  20. Hello Everyone ! I would like to know what is the easiest way to match colors on a Photo Montage/Composition in Affinity Photo without going all this crazy and too technical way. Is Serif thinking about bringing in the Color Match Live adjustment ? it is needed and may help shorten too long workflow or steps. Blessings !
  21. (Hover with mouse over the attachment thumbnails to see the images file name) How to reproduce: 1. Use Perspective Live Filter to distort an image or embedded document 2. Try to apply a Gradient Overlay Layer Effect 3.You'll get the error shown in the attached Bug.jpg Additional report: 1. Create a shape with a similar gradient 2. Try to mask it inside the layer with Perspective Live Filter (as a work around to the bug above) 3. You now get the attached Extra-Bug.jpg issue... Hope these reports help improving this feature. Mods/Devs, if you need to source file let me know and I'll share by PM. Thanks!
  22. Is there a list of functions which can be used in the "Apply Image Filter" equations? The online manual and video only show simple channel arithmetic. In the Affinity Photo WorkBook - London Calling 2 - (p234) - lerp(SA,Sb,0.2) is used for "linear interpretation ... mapping the b channel to a mix of a and b channels " So I assume there would be other functions.
  23. Create a layer with raster data (some image or something) Go to Filters -> Color -> Halftone, preview mode starts (haven't tested with other filters but I'd imagine it's the same for all of them) Without applying the filter or closing out of the filter panel, right click on the layer and click Duplicate The duplicated (new) layer's preview (in the Layers panel) shows the filter preview instead of the 'true' image data. Hiding/Showing the layer resets it and forces it to show the actual layer contents. Layer prior to starting filter: Preview of the canvas during filter preview: Duplicated layer preview: Shows the layer preview with incorrect data alongside the canvas (the canvas is correct in this case) - remains so even after closing out (not applying) the filter panel: And finally, after unchecking visibility, the preview is reset.
  24. Begin previewing a filter (I've been playing with Halftone, start there if others don't work) on a raster layer (that presumably has other layers beneath it) During filter previewing, drop down the blending mode menu and hover over different selections in order to preview the filter with the blending mode The canvas flickers but the blending mode on the canvas doesn't reflect what the mouse is hovering over. However, clicking on the blending mode does force the canvas to reflect the selected mode - it's just the blending mode menu hover that doesn't properly render the preview on the canvas.
  25. Affinity Photo 1.6.7 will not run the 8bf plug-in file from Alien Skin Exposure X3. 1. Perform the setup in AP as was done with Nik and Topaz filters. 2. Select the Alien Skin Exposure X3 plug-in from the dropdown menu. 3. AP displays no response. It does not freeze as you can move on to perform other tasks, but there is no indication the Exposure plugin has been called. FYI -- the Exposure X3 8bf filter does run correctly in the German photo editor PhotoLine.
