  1. Hi there, I just purchased affinity and imported RAW (CR2) files but it looks like Affinity doesn't support it. The images displayed on Affinity are pinkish in colour. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the Canon 6D Mark II I had recently bought. I wouldn't think it's the SD card because that would save what type of files we select. There's no issues importing jpeg files. Does anyone have a solution to this? Thanks in advance. Nick
  2. Hi, I'm using Affinity (both Designer and Photo) while working on a network drive and I've come across the following problem: the server disconnects every once in a while. When it happens, Affinity doesn't really seem to care (no warnings whatsoever), at least not until I try to save the file. Only then I get the attached popup ("Save failed because acces to the file was lost.") and the document closes, even when the server/network drive has been reconnected. It allows me to recover the autosave when I reopen the file, however, since I'm used to hitting cmd+S right after I make some important changes, these are often lost. I think one of these solutions could help – either check if the drive was reconnected / remind to reconnect (that would be perfect), or make an additional autosave before closing the file, or at least give some warning when the connection is lost, not upon attempt to save. Thanks in advance!
  3. I have a lot of trash files that I would like to delete. The Help document on files talks about everything but deleting. What would be the ideal workflow and storage to keep the iPad storage lean? Thank you.
  4. Hello everybody, apologies if this has been asked before, a quick search revealed nothing. I recently downloaded the Affinity Photo app for iPad and am still looking for a reasonable way to access my photos stored on a western digital mycloud. I tried Filebrowser Go and while it handily gave access to the cloud itself it wasn't possible to access files with RAW photos in it. Even more surprising, although one could access "copy to affinity photo" natively in Filebrowser Go the pic would not open. Is there a different file browser people might recommend? Kind regards Daniel
  5. Hey, I've just started using both Affinity Designer and Photo on iPad. I think both apps should better integrate with Apple's "Files" extension/app! This should lead to an easier cross platform and app exchange. The current solution with "open from cloud" and "import from cloud" are confusing and don't work as I would expect. My idea was that using the "open" option it just saves any changes I made directly back to the "Files" app (no matter if the document is located in iCloud Drive, Dropbox, iPad or some other location). There could be a little icon next to the document (in the overview), that indicates that it is linked/located to the "Files" app. So you can easily distinguish between app documents and documents in the Cloud (or any other location). In this case the wording of "close" (in the popup menu of the document overview) would also make more sense. When "importing" the file I would expect that the app creates a copy of the document inside the app. To save it back to "Files" I would have to press the "Save" button in the document overview. I tested it and this isn't the case. What is the actual difference between "open from cloud" and "import from cloud"? The icons are also extremely confusing to spot a difference. Thanks for making great Pro software available on iPad! Cheers! PS: Hope the label translations are right, as I use Affinity in German.

    File connection lost

Hey everyone! Sometimes, the connection to .afdesign files in Files.app is lost. This happens without moving any files. When this problem occurs, saving from within the file will not overwrite the file in Files.app (it seems to do nothing at all) and when saving from outside the file, there will be a duplicate with the " 1" prefix. When trying to access the file in Files.app, it says the file cannot be found. In order to make it work again, "On My iPad" has to be disabled and enabled again to be able to access the file. I'm unsure whether or not you can solve this or if this is an iOS issue. This can be quite inconvenient, since it happens about once every 30 minutes. Best wishes, Shu
  7. Hey everyone! I have a lot of files (right now, 128, but there will be a lot more) from Procreate that need minor editing. I would like to save all .pngs flattened and close all files at once, since at the moment, this takes just about the amount of time that I need for actual editing. It would be great if there was a way to save multiple files in the same manner (for example, flattened) and (or) close them with discarding any unsaved changes. Best wishes, Shu

Windows 10 & Placed .afdesign Files

hello people, i'm using affinity designer - latest version - and windows 10 with 32 GB ram and a gforce gfx 970 card and it's VERY VERY slow when i'm typing some text or move things around the workspace. is there anything wrong with the gforce or did i miss some settings? in performance settings i switched to gforce 970 and FAST preview setting but it's slow as hell. --------- next thing i didn't find anything in the forum is: i have a few afdesign files and i want to link them in one master file. i created a artboard file and PLACED them. when i want to export this master file is empty. it seems that affinity designer can't export placed (linked) afdesign files to pdf? as soon as i raster those placed files it's working - but i want to keep the ability to edit those placed files. there is no option to write scripts or set "raster everything before export to pdf" button :( is there any solution to it? thanks a lot for helping me out. mike
  9. Hi, I was recently using the Publisher Beta and unfortunately, lost a bit of (thankfully simple!) work due to a disconnection with my work VPN. We use a VPN to access in-house servers, which has a fairly short timeout period. Whilst working on a Publisher file, the VPN disconnected. When I went to save my work, an error popped up saying that Publisher had lost access to the file (and linked files) and immediately closed. My work was gone and a shock on my face. Whilst common sense would propose saving frequently, is it silly to suggest a failsafe option of switching to the Save As menu when this happens? My project was using linked files, but surely there's a way around this for those accessing work files remotely? Thanks and keep up the great work! Levi
  10. Hi, I'm working on Windows10 Pro and I simply cannot open any image file in Affinity Photo (current version, German). Nothing happens but the cooler gets louder sometimes. This happens since, I think, version 1.6x. All former versions worked well... very strange... any idea? Thank you!! Joerg
  11. Please help! I'm creating a 16 page file and everything was fine until I restart. What should I do? I didn't want to reinstall because I already had paragraph styles created. Please help.
  12. Hey, there's a feature in macOS which I know is quite hidden but it's very very very useful, once you are aware of. Bad enough that it is missing in affinity photo and designer. In all finder windows and most apps which deal with files it's possible to do some basic file handling actions from the window title where the file icon is located. Doing a right click lets you go directly to the path where the file is located. Dragging the file icon lets you move or copy the file to another place. Here's a very quick video attached but you should try this handling yourself and you will see, how it boosts your productivity. Btw. this function exists from the first day of mac OS X. Would be nice if you add this because it's so so basic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-fkYFV7rOY (at 0:59, some other examples exist, but I just had this quickly by hand) cheers Benny FilehandlingSD.mov
  13. Hello, good morning, everyone. Excuse my English, it's translated. My problem is this, I have 100 tif files that weigh about 800 MB. I have AF on iPad as my primary photography software. It is clear that if I synchronize these 800 MB by iCloud, I will have to wait a long time to do it. So I tried to do it through iTunes, in shared files to do it through USB and be faster. But what I add here doesn't appear on iPad. I've tried creating a project, and that folder doesn't appear. I added a single file and it doesn't show up either. I'm desperate, maybe as I write this post I would have already synchronized iCloud, but that's not the case. What solution can you recommend for uploading large files in quantity? I will add to this thread a question I asked a long time ago and I think it comes with the same subject. What is the difference between AF MacOS and AF iOS? I was told at the time that the engine is the same, but the image processing is different. In my case, can I trust that AF iOS can give me maximum quality photos for printing? CMYK color outputs, no loss of quality at the time of export, etc.... Or will I have to buy AF MacOS? I hope you can help me and thank you very much. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator
  14. I'm using the drag and drop interface to drop pixel art files (.bmp) from Windows Explorer to work with into a large master file, but when I paste (drop) them the layers depixelate and anti-aliasing appears. I can't tell whether the layers actual contents have been changed or if it is a UI effect but either way, I wish to turn this off. I performed a cursory search of the forums and the Internet but was unable to find anything for Affinity Photo. Here is approximately what's going on: If I copy and paste a range of pixels, the type of layer created is of type "Pixel", but when I drag and drop a file from an explorer window onto a canvas, it creates a layer of type "Image" instead. How do I make new layers made by drag/drop appear as pristine original pixels (like copy-paste) rather than a blurry anti-aliased version of themselves? I don't see a way to change this in the layer settings or in the Preferences window.
  15. I'm wondering if anyone has written anything about the different options for saving and storing Affinity Photo files for iPad? It seems there is a bit of confusion on the topic. I know I've been a bit confused by it but I don't see a whole lot posted here. Perhaps I'm the only one? I'm exploring this a bit because by chance today I was poking around the Settings app and took a look at my iPad's storage and saw that Affinity Photo was using up 22GB! I've got quite a few projects but expected it to be half of that or less. Now, I've got plenty of storage but for anyone that has less or for folks that might want to more easily back-up to a local Mac or whatever, using Files app storage might be better. So I started poking around. As I understand it, by default files are stored within Affinity Photo on the iPad. A sort of hidden storage area which shows up in the documents browser within Affinity Photo. It's not possible to see file sizes from this location. If I choose to save (from the corner widget of the document icon in the document browser) the file is then saved into "On my iPad" in the "Photo" folder on iPad and I can open it up from the Files app. The nice thing about this is I can see the file size and easily copy it to other places with no issues. Also, for someone with lots of projects and clients, the built in Photos document browser can get pretty cumbersome. By moving my projects to Files app I can nest folders as needed, add tags, etc. If there comes a time when I need to transfer/copy many files or a whole folder I can do that simply via drag and drop. What I'm getting at is that there seem to be an opportunity here to offer an app preference for an "On my iPad" Files app based storage as a default rather than the built in storage. For those of us coming from the Mac with lots of projects this might be preferable. Or, if not offered as a possible app preference for default storage/saving location it might be beneficial to highlight it and clarify in documentation. I'm aware that there is a section on saving and storage but it seems a bit too minimal. I'm likely going to turn this into a blog post with a bit more detail and will post a link back here if there is interest.
  16. Halp please I have never been able to find where my affinity documents have been saved to, and so have always relied upon the 'recent files' with fingers crossed- but now I can't find any of them at all. I can't even begin to think of all the work and business branding I would have lost if this is not resolved... Any suggestions as to where on a mac they disappear to? Nothing has ever saved to the affinity iCloud so not there.
  17. Hi, My app kept crashing while I was editing. So I decided to delete it and reinstall it. But all my files were gone!!! Total panic!! Luckily I had an old cloud backup so I could save most of my files. My how on earth can I reinstall Photo without losing my files (I hope nog saving and exporting them one by one, there must be an other way!).

    Export photos to Files

When I export to “Files” many times the Affinity Photo app is blocked and I lose all the work done.
  19. Hi, I'm new to this place...hope somebody can help me Since the new Windows update was installed, Affinity refuses to save my projects, it always says that there isn't enough memory, but there over 300gb of free disk space...so I don't see a reason to this. This started as I tried to save a project, which I started out with a stack of pictures, and since then I can't save any of my projects. Sombody got an idea how to fix this?
  20. I have bought Affinity Designer and also bought affinity Designer workbook. In the tutorials section, it says that all the working files may be downloaded from - and I quote "affin.co/coreskills" There seems to be no such website. Is this a misprint - or do I simply return the book as useless? Please advise me how to obtain the working files. Regards David

    Dark border when closing document

Hey everyone! This happens in both Photo and Designer. Full screen mode needs to be used for this issue to show up. I get a dark border on top of the document view when doing the following: - Opening at least two documents so that tabs show up - Closing those documents - There should be a dark border where the tabs have been Creating a new document and closing it does not get rid of this issue. However, opening just one file and closing it does. So does quitting and restarting the application. Software used: Mac OS 10.11.3 Affinity Photo 1.6.6 Affinity Designer 1.6.0 Best wishes, Shu

Affinity Photo won't save my files

Hi, I have run into a problem with Affinity Photo. It will not save my files. When I try to save a file it says: Failed to save document: (where the document is placed) Save failed because the file could not be created. Please report to Serif. File::OpenUnmanaged fopen E001 [errno = 2] I have attached a screenshot of the message. The thing is, the place it shows where it wants to create/save the file, is not the place I picked for it. Also, the place it reports is a folder that has been moved. But it should not matter, because this is an entirely new file and therefore there should not be a problem with a moved location, because this file has no connection yet to a specific saving spot on my mac. At least that is what I think. I tried to restart the application and just start entirely from scratch, but it has not worked. I also tried to not save and just export it, but that would not work either. Hope you can help me/fix the bug.
  23. I am using Affinity Photo on Windows and would like a better way to catalogue my photos. Currently I am using Picasa as a viewer and occasionally added metadata tags in the EXIF data. While I have read a number of posts on this topic, I am not a current user of LightRoom or other Adobe products but am happy to start if required. So I am looking for any recommendations for software that runs on Windows that will work nicely with Affinity Photo please. (I'm ignoring the Affinity DAM product until it appears) Thanks
  24. Can anyone direct me to a list of camera RAW files supported by Affinity Photo.
  25. First of all I think Affinity Photo for iPad is a great tool and one of a kind in the sense there's nothing that gets even close in App Store to the features you guys are providing. However I'm not entirely satisfied with the process how it works today. I understand this issue is partly because of Apple limitations on iPad platform but maybe there's something that could be improved on Affinity Photo side also and hence this feature request. As a photographer and traveler I want to travel light but still want to be able to process my RAW images and generate JPG export files easily. 1. I go on a site and take pictures with my DSLR and later import the photos to my iPad pro using Apple camera connection kit. (Ideally I would like to import directly to files or Affinity photo) 2. Once the photos are in iPad I would like to create a project with all of the imported RAW files without individually locating and adding them one by one. Could be something like import all photos from album "Last import" 3. I will do the edits to all the files I find are worth keeping and removing bad shots 4. I would like to batch export all RAW files to photos app (or files app) as JPG files
