  1. Let's say I fill (Edit > Fill) an image with white set to Colour blend mode. I get a grayscale version of my image. On another occasion I try do the same but I make a mistake. I forget to change the blend mode from Normal to Colour. To correct my mistake I open the fade command (Layer > Fade Fill) and change the blend mode to Colour. But, instead of grayscale, the image remains white. How do i use blend modes with the fade command? I really like this feature but it seems to be different from PS. Any help would be appreciated.
  2. So I was wondering if there was an option to make a pencil fade into transparency with less pressure in Affinty Photo or if any of you know or made such pencils that I could download? I really need that since I can't really draw without it and it's killing me
  3. I could do this in Photoshop with the gradient tool, but I can't find a way to do it in AP. I want to have a photo in a full-page ad at the top of a page to gradually fade into the copy block below it. In Photoshop, I could apply a gradient affect that would melt into transparent space at its bottom edge (or any age, for that matter). It was great for doing collages. Anyone been able to do this in AP?
  4. (Affinity Photo) I've been trying the context menu, editing the brushes to have size jitter (including the curve) to no avail. It seems to only do the regular round brush stroke without the taper despite showing in the preview. I've seen other people with Wacom Bamboo tablets where the pressure doesn't seem to work, that's the case for me, but even if I don't have pressure sensitivity I just want a tapered brush to draw with. Any help with this would be appreciated
  5. I always wonder that in AP there is no direct way to apply a transparent color adjustment gradient fade, which would be pretty useful for macros to have. When recording macros one actually can only use an adjustment gradient or a fx gradient effect, but the first one (which I would prefer to use for quick turn arounds) doesn't allow to alter/setup a linear gradient color transparency ... ... the fx effect in turn allows to setup this but works on a whole pixel layer and not an adjustment mask level. Also the usual gradient tool allows to setup such color->trancparency fades, but isn't recordable in macros at all. Any reason why an adjustment gradient (see the top shown panel) doesn't offer to setup a opacity color aka transparent fade here? - That looks somehow like an option omission to me.
  6. I've been living with this for a long time now, thinking perhaps I might get used to it, but I haven't, and it still feels like it is unnecessarily slowing down my workflow. There are two issues here, but they feel related to me: Selection outline fade out when deselecting an element I either want to see a selection or I don't. Having a second in between every time I deselect something is quite frustrating. I want to work on something, see how it looks, repeat. Not working on something, wait a second, see how it looks. Outline appears after about a second of hovering over an element I'm not sure I if I need this hover feature at all, but if I do want to use it, I certainly don't want the delay. I am never going to sit with the mouse still and wait for it. I'm guessing this delay was added to prevent constant highlights, but I think holding down a key to get the highlight would be much preferable to a time delay. Additionally, I'm not sure why it fades out again almost immediately. This feature as it is just means I get shapes fading in and out every now and again, which is quite distracting. These two issues seem like things that could be configured in preferences, but I can't see a way to do so currently.
  7. Using Designer 1.6, I have a rectangular shape with a non-uniform (gradient) fill and some text inside, represented by shape #1 above (without the text, of course). I would like to apply a transparency effect where the edges of the shape fade off into being completely transparent. In order to try and describe what I am trying to do here, I made shape #2. I want the inner edge of the black border to be completely opaque with whatever is directly under it, the outer edge be completely transparent, and a gradient transition fill in between. In shape #3, I tried to use the Outline layer effect, as shown here: ...and kind of got what I am trying to do, but not quite. Maybe I need to use a duplicate layer and use it to mask out the border of the original shape? I have a feeling I am really close with this, but missing some step somewhere.
  8. Hello there, I have copied various objects (with the desired color) from one file to another. There (on the screen) the colors fade, as if I had activated (at print) an extreme ink saving mode. In the original file I have a dark blue and in the destination file I have a pale blue (both with RGB 4/94/156). This fading effect goes over all objects in the file. I have already checked the color values and see the only difference, that in the destination file I work in "Artboards" in contrast to the first one. This was the order of the tutorial. I'm still using the trial version v1.5.4. Thank you for every help. oma-2017-rwg-01-04-flyer-print.afdesign
  9. Hi, I'm having troubles with a small design of mine. I want to apply a gradient fade (from both sides) on a text layer. I tried this method: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5TqqrC3AOY. It works quite well, I get my faded sides of the text. But unfortunately, the colors get gradually desaturated as well. I'm attaching a screenshot, where there are 2 layers visible. One with the fade (and desaturation problem) and the other as a reference. I tried rasterising the text and then the fade works fine, the colors are preserved. But I need to keep the text as a vector. Am I doing something wrong? Could I achieve this effect on a vector text without losing color information? Thanks for any tip or advice.
  10. Hi, is there a tool in AD to fade, repeat two Objects? In Corel German, the tool is called "Überblendung"
