  1. Affinity Photo Windows Desktop v1.7.1.404 When using the 'New HDR Merge...' function, DNG image lense corrections are not applied during file load/merge process. Reproduce: 1. File > New HDR Merge... 2. Click Add, select 2 or more DNG files 3. Click Ok 4. HDR image will not have lense correction applied(hdr_lense_missing.JPG) when compared to single DNG image opened using the standard File > Open
  2. When importing DNG RAW files from a DJI Mavic Drone, Affinity does not recognize the built- in lens profile for lens correction. The profile is there, Lightroom and other programs recognize and use it to correct distortion. The drone is the very well known Mavic 2, the profile name is DJI FC2204

    DNG import bug

I have (one) client who sends me DBG files occasionally and this time I noticed chromic aberration on the white areas which makes the file unusable. I opened the DNG in Photoshop and it looked perfect, so I exported it from there to tif for the project. Is DNG a bit buggy in Photo?
  4. This happened before 1.7 update and still exists now. My basic workflow is as follows: I edit the original files on PC with Lightroom, then export a DNG file for more adjustments in affinity photo. I upload the DNG to OneDrive, download it to iPad, open with affinity photo, and here is what I get. Whenever I’m using tiff files everything is fine. So I suppose there is a bug when importing DNG? Thank you in advance.
  5. Hello! I planned to use Affinity to process scanned film negatives. Unfortunately I cannot open any linear dng files (output from VueScan, saved as .dng) only a thumbnail opens. Darktable opens the same files without any issues. I'm running Affinity on Mac Mojave 10.14.2. I could see that several people on the Windows subform have had the same issue already in 2017. Could someone please look into it? Thank you in advance!
  6. Hi, I am trying to use Affinity Photo to process DNG RAW files from a new DJI Mavic 2 pro which has the new Hasselblad inspired camera but when import the images they are very under exposed and flat. Any ideas how to process these images with Affinity. I also use DxO PL and this appears to be able to accept these files OK.
  7. Hi All I currently subscribe to Adobe and I'm finding it difficult to let go of Lightroom and Photoshop. I've had a Affinity for a while now and have gone through the Workbook to understand it better. However, I've found it's ability to carry out RAW processing in the Develop Module is lacking a little. If opening a DNG file (Which 99% of my RAW files are) I've found it doesn't render the blacks as well as a native RAW (Such as a CR2 for Canon). plus it doesn't handle the shadows and highlights as well as Adobe in general. More recently I've given an overview of Affinity Photo to our the Camera Club I attend, as I don't think anything comes near it for the price and is a great asset for those not wishing to go the Adobe route. As part of the overview I put a few DNGs together to show the club and came across a strange pink colour cast on a DNG compared to Adobe Camera RAW. See attached. I've also attached the DNG to get your thoughts. Keep up the good work guys! Designer is also superb!!!!! Carl 30_07_2018_Wales-2018-FUJI-XE1_174.DNG
  8. I've been recently trying to process some DNG files produced by my smartphone (an LG G6 aka LG-H870DS), and the colours are appearing faded with a weird hue in the Develop persona compared to the out-of-camera (OOC) JPEGs. I've tried to edit the DNGs to match the colours of the original OOC JPEGs, but have been unable to do so. I'm wondering if this is intended behaviour (in other words, me being not being proficient enough in Photo/editing), or if the DNGs are being read incorrectly. I've included the DNG files in the attachments. For some reason the JPEGs are failing to upload, but I've included a comparison between the DNG and OOC JPEGs. 20180812_072555.dng 20180821_191840.dng
  9. I need to convert my Panasonic Fz300 raw files to dng as Lr5 cannot be read the Pana raw file. By mistake; I learnt I could converter the raw files off the card. ( yeah yeah --- slow on the up-take For those interested . I have the Adobe dng converter [free] set to do the same thing each time > from same folder (card) > to same folder (NewPics) The converter will remember and do the same as last used. Once converted the dng files are imported [add] into lr5. This has removed going through On1 first If you want to rename all files; that can also be done with the dng converter also; however I delete the rubbish (heavily) in Lr5 before renaming only the better files. Like On1; I feel the dng converter renaming would be easier than Lr5 – newer versions might be different but I'm not going there ---if my Lr5 disappears I would likely use On1 and affinity I don't take much notice of the ''against'' dng argument – used to convert all files, however by not converting the Oly files I can quickly see if it's a pana or oly file . Happy to hear your pros and cons thoughts, and questions welcome Cheers; happy hunting
  10. There is a bug concerning DNG reading in affinity. I convert CR3 in DNG with DNG convert 11.0 When I read DNG with Affinity picture is not correct IMG_4456.dng
  11. Hi all, I’ve Recently purchased iPad version of both Affinty Photo and Designer. One thing and probably one of very few things that bother me and preventing me from switching completely from Adobe is that all Affinity software display DNG and X3F file incorrectly (all software up to date). The DNG filed would open as blank black on iPad, low resolution on Mac and X3F (from Sigma SD Quattro camera) would have weird noise blotches and the whole photo would be over exposed, to an unusable degree. Here is a screenshot for one of the examples. Please let me know if anyone has the same issues, or is it just limited to DNG from a specific camera brand. Hope Serif would release a patch/update for this in the future. Best, Duong
  12. Hallo, The colors of my converted DNG files (From Fuji X-T1 or X-T100) are strongly purple in Affinity Photo Fuji RAF files are displayed correctly. The RAF files were converted with the latest adobe DNG converter. In Lightroom, the DNG files are displayed correctly. Plese Help
  14. Hi, Before I buy "Affinity", who could tell me if I can open and work on "dng" files produced with a Huawei P20 PRO smartphone ? Thank you in advance ! Yaghan
  15. Hi, I write cause I have a painful time trying to get the colors right from a DNG file.| The DNR file was made using an Android Smartphone - Nokia 7 Plus - with Adobe Lightroom CC android app - it has a camera option with DNG save. I use windows 10 and default picture browser, I have installed Adobe drivers for DNG file. When I open the file in the picture browser it has the right colors - very close to the actual ones. When I open the same file in Affinity Photo I get them wrong. It's subtle (or not so subtle in the example I give) but it is/ And it's not a uniform shift (I suppose) and I can't get them fixed, neither by white balance or channel mixing. I tried to decrease blue channel and it worked on a part of the image but rest of the image was off. I try tonal curve for blue channel but it's painful and I can't get it right. On the attached image you can see the difference. The right side is the more correct version, the left side is affinity photo - develop persona - I just moved the saturation all the way up to show the problem. Both images are the same file - just open in two different applications. Please, I need help! I wish I could get the colors right! EDIT: Ugh... in reality it's even more turquoise. I know that things may be off because of the monitor calibration but still I have hard time get it right.
  16. I'm evaluating Affinity Photo in a work flow that uses DxO PhotoLab to apply lens as well as basic colour & exposure corrections. When I export from DxO into Affinity, photos look significantly different. Is there something I'm overlooking? Can someone please suggest how I can carry forward all of the work done in DxO before I begin more detailed work in Affinity Photo? Thanks.
  17. Hi, I currently don't do any processing on the move - using just my Mac desktop at home. I have an iPad Pro and am exploring my options to get things done whilst out and about doing shoots. My query is about my potential workflow, and if Affinity Photo can help. I currently use all Adobe apps on my desktop, but a quick look at Lightroom on the iPad doesn't seem to provide what I am looking for. I'm a real estate photographer, and I outsource my processing due to the volume of work required. But I often get gaps in my schedule when on the road, which could help me to get my photos to the editors quicker (then waiting until I get home). I'm using Sony A7R III (with an A7 III as a backup). All I need to be able to do is: 1) Get the Sony RAW files from my SD card onto the iPad. I understand a lightning SD reader will be needed for that. 2) Then to review the images, and possibly on some of them scale/crop to get the best of the shot. No actual processing of colours, etc. 3) Then save/export them as DNG files onto a cloud platform (whether it be OneDrive, iCloud, Dropbox, whatever). Then I can email my Editors the location of the files to pick up for processing. I can't give them JPGs because they need to do the actual processing. DNGs end up much smaller filesizes than Sony RAW which means easier uploading too. And they are more universally recognized (the editors don't want to work with specific raw formats like Sony) Right now I have to wait until I get home from a day of shooting and do the above with Lightroom on my Mac. I'd love to be able to do this between shoots on the road, on the iPad. However, none of the apps I have looked into seem to be able to export this way. It's either save back to the original RAW format - or convert to a final non-raw format such as JPG. As I can't trial Affinity on iPad - and it's the key feature I would need - I thought I would ask here before buying. Is this going to be possible? Many thanks Simon
  18. It would be real nice to have DNG format supported as an export option. Scenario: Shoot multiple images in camera native DNG format. Import multiple images into Affinity Photo and assemble panorama. (Think HDR also) Export completed panorama as DNG. Import completed panorama into another RAW processor (in my case Capture One Pro) for catalogue use and further development.
  19. Hi, I opened an existing DNG and noticed that Affinity Photo changed colors, ... on itself. On 5:45 of the following video it's the same behaviour. How can I supress this? - The original Image is much more darker than Image you can see then opened in Affility. On the attached Picture you can see the difference. when I open the same DNG-file with Affility(top left), LR(button left) and Irfanview(right). When I then export the DNG in Irfanview to a JPEG and open this JPEG in Affinity everthing is fine. I also noticed another differenc between opening the dng and opening the jpeg. After opening the dng the develop-button on the top left is activated. Doen't that mean there was a change (you can see this on the attached picure). After opening the jpeg that button is not to see.
  20. I know that this topic is present on this forum however I din't find a clear answer if functionality described below will be included in Photo and when? One big thing that is missing for me is the possibility to save my work on raw files - like .xmp files that are being created by Photoshop. I simply just want to return to my work later I know that we can save presets and use them later but its not the way I would like to work (save presets in many places and remember to use them again, dozens of presets after couple of days of work = nightmare). So maybe DEV team can add feature to save all these photo-specific presets to any metadata file .xmp (for example). So when next time you open any raw file the app will look for proper metadada file in the same directory and apply all modifications from it ? If this kind of feature is on the roadmap - when it will be available ? Now I am thinking of buying subscription for Adobe CC instead of using Affinity Photo app that I already have. Just beaceuse of this missing feature. Best regards, Mike

    Batch Job crashing computer

Hiya, Before I tell you what's not working I thought I should say that your product is very good and I'm enjoying using it. Also that I'm running Windows 8.1 64Bit with 8GB RAM. I had 171 DNG files that I needed to export/convert into JPG, saving on the Desktop. I used a batch job to do it. It crashed my computer so completely I had to resort to the power off button to reboot it; even my mouse wouldn't work. I thought, mmm OK, 171 DNG files – maybe I'm being a bit ambitious! So I tried 15 DNG files. Same result. I then opened Lightroom and it exported 171 DNG files to JPG in ten minutes and I could carry on working while it did it. Any ideas? (Please don't say that batch job is only designed to do one file at a time. ) Paul

    Sea to sky

I took a quick shot with my google nexus 5x phone from a moving Ferry. The window wasn't clean and I was too late in the morning to catch that Golden Hour light but it was just for fun on a boring 40 min ride. I processed the raw .dng file in Affinity photo did a little cropping and straightening and then had some fun experimenting with adding clarity, adjusting highlights and shadows and adding a gradient overlay to simulate a warmer light.
  24. Is it possible to get Windows Explorer to display thumb nail picture of an "afphoto" file? Can I export pictures in DNG?
