  1. I'm not having any success recovering a file after AP v2.3.1 crashed. I'm on a 2017 MacBook Pro, Ventura. I never saved the file, but I had it open for at least an hour. I usually save more often, but I was experimenting with some techniques, so I didn't save it at all this time. I started with a DNG RAW file, opened it in the Develop Persona (RAW Layer linked), then did a lot of work on it in the Photo Persona. I have my recovery time in Settings set to 300 seconds, but I couldn't find any record that autosave ever saved my unnamed file anywhere. I looked in ~/library/application support/affinity photo 2/autosave. Nothing is listed there from today.. When relaunching AP, it asked if I wanted to recover the file and I said Yes. It opened the original DNG RAW file in the Develop Persona, which was useless to me. Shouldn't autosave save a copy every 300 seconds, per my AP Settings (preferences)? Is there any way to recover this file? If so, where do I look and how? Thanks.
  2. eBonjour !
  3. When importing DNG RAW files from a DJI Mavic Drone, Affinity does not recognize the built- in lens profile for lens correction. The profile is there, Lightroom and other programs recognize and use it to correct distortion. The drone is the very well known Mavic 2, the profile name is DJI FC2204
  4. Hello, I am new to Affinity and a bit confused to how to save DNG edits in Affinity Photo. My workflow when I was using Photoshop was to first convert my raw Nikon images in Adobe DNG Converter, open the dng file into Adobe Camera Raw to edit, then open into Photoshop. If I was to close that photoshop file without saving, I could re-open the dng file (back into Camera Raw and my previous edits would be saved. So I have opened a dng file into Affinity Photo 2 on iMac, it opens up in develop persona and I make my edits. I then click develop (raw layer embedded) and if I close the file without saving, and re-open that dng file again, the edits aren't saved. Is this normal behaviour? Is there a way to save the dng edits without making an affinity save file? Lee.
  5. I have edited a couple of DNG film scans from an Epson V700. Processing the raw and then developing as a Linked layer. After editing and saving the image I can no longer open it correctly. It either opens with a very low resolution image which disappears or Photo crashes. If Photo doesn't crash, if I try to open/edit the Raw layer Photo crashes. The files have not been moved and the DNG is still available in original place (same folder). This is a screen capture of after re-opening the file (without crashing)
  6. the problem would be the DJI mini 2 and 3 photos taken. no problem with photos taken with JPG. DNG photos are completely different. I have tried different settings for color profiles, hardware coding. a completely different PC i tried there too uygan this problem. windows 10 and 11 tried.
  7. It would be real nice to have DNG format supported as an export option. Scenario: Shoot multiple images in camera native DNG format. Import multiple images into Affinity Photo and assemble panorama. (Think HDR also) Export completed panorama as DNG. Import completed panorama into another RAW processor (in my case Capture One Pro) for catalogue use and further development.
  8. Hi! I don´t know how to explain this here we go... I have a Google Pixel 3 phone and take RAW (DNG) pictures using Adobe Lightroom Mobile, then I export them as Original and open them in my Computer with Affinity Photo. The results processing the photo in Lightroom Mobile directly is way better than doing it in Affinity Photo, do not get me wrong, I am NOT saying Lightroom Mobile is better, I am saying that Affinity is not reading the image appropriately, I already tried adjusting "Assistant Manager" and actually improved a little bit after changing the image to "32 bit HDR" and deactivating "Tone Curve" The image looks even better if I open it with the Windows Photo Tool: and as you can see, I already tried with the last Beta version(1.9.2.1005) and got the same bad results Here you have the best example I could give you, look at the miniatures, one of those is a DNG that was processed directly in Adobe Lightroom Mobile and then exported and the second TIF file is just the same but exported in this format: If I open both in affinity then the DNG file looks like the left/Above image and the TIFF like the right/Below one I attached the original RAW file (1) and the other one that was processed and then exported as a DNG (2) if it helps Please let me know if I am breaking any rule, it was really hard building all this post and I have searched a lot in google and Affinity Photo Community but without success Regards, LRM_20210128_174302_(1).dng LRM_20210128_174302_(2).dng
  9. Hi ! https://www.dropbox.com/sh/6truasjt646z9mg/AACIX3Ej5g1jkHuyMTThFJfca?dl=0&fbclid=IwAR1mIh-lEwH9b28j7Q4goHWsCSHmqAEzf0XtW5jYmhbH8H9VCjrdaPDNIAU&preview=_DSF0350.DNG Affinty can not open the 400 MPX GFX 100 RAW. Could it be fixed ? Regards
  10. Hi, I have a problem with the resolution of dng files. In Affinity Photo imported dng files (40 MB) are poor in image quality compared to jpg files (9 MB). The photos are made with a DJI Mavic Pro and are available as dng and jpg files. The drone has a Hasselblad camera installed. My guess is that the wrong codec is installed on my PC (Windows 10 Pro, 64 Bit). In any case an online conversion (online-umwandeln.de, dng => png) delivers a good quality. A test with Adobe Lightroom also did not deliver acceptable quality. What could be the cause? How can I uninstall the dng codec in Win 10?
  11. Hello, and sorry if this has been posted before. I got to capture a nice headland shot of a lighthouse. I set up the camera to capture 5 images in a burst - in JPEG and DNG format. When I use AF HDR merge function with the JPEG images - the image comes out correctly, with a relatively flat horizon However, when I use the DNG images - and the HDR process starts; a pronounced curvature is given to the image. Not what I am looking for. The original DNG flies are exactly the same as the JPEG, with the same horizon aspects. Any pointers please? This on Affinity Photo 1.8.3, using iMac OS Catalina 10.15.6 I've attached screenshots of the image to show what I am on about - you can plainly see in the HDR DNG images the upper corners of the image have dropped against the text.
  12. 1.8.3.641 - WIN 10 latested updates - clean new reset of PC and therefore new installation of Affinity Photo. NVIDIA GTX 650 - newest driver 446.14 EIZO CS 2730 Also installed: Affinity Designer 1.83.641 + Affitity Publisher 1.83.641 and Capture One 13.1.0.162 (all downloaded today). --------- Hello, I'm new to the forum and didn't really find a similar problem description on Google. Therefore I'll ask here: When I open an image in Affinity Photo for the very first time via "File -> Open..." it often instantly crashes. When I retry with the same file at the same source there is no problem anymore. I first thought it had something to do with the fact, that the images are on a OneDrive directory (already downloaded before), but now, on my new clean system, it also crashed 2 times with local only images. Now, after approx. 10-15 tries with other files and sources, it works well. But I am afraid it will happen again when I do not expect it. I use DNG from Ricoh GR 3 and CR2 from Canon EOS 6. Strangley enough a have the same behaviour on my iPad Air 3 with the latest Affinity Photo App when I use "Import from cloud" and open files from OneDrive. Does anyone have an idea what can be the reason? I have not experienced such a behaviour in version under 1.83. Thank you very much in advanced. Best regards.
  13. Hi, Was not able to find the same issue, only somewhat related with raw photos being opened with purple tint. Basically the issue is written in the title. To elaborate - when Fuji S5pro raw file (RAF) is converted to DNG using Adobe DNG converter and then opened in Affinity Photo, one can see that colors are way off. Below one can see a screenshot of freely available RAF file from here Fuji raw files and a converted to DNG one: One can also see that DNG has one pixel less horizontally. Tried opening DNG in open source RawTherapee and it opens the same as RAF. Meaning that there is definitely some issue with Affinity Photo here. It is the same in Affinity Photo 1.8 beta. Hoping that will be fixed. Thanks in advance!
  14. Affinity Photo Windows Desktop v1.7.1.404 When using the 'New HDR Merge...' function, DNG image lense corrections are not applied during file load/merge process. Reproduce: 1. File > New HDR Merge... 2. Click Add, select 2 or more DNG files 3. Click Ok 4. HDR image will not have lense correction applied(hdr_lense_missing.JPG) when compared to single DNG image opened using the standard File > Open
  15. I have (one) client who sends me DBG files occasionally and this time I noticed chromic aberration on the white areas which makes the file unusable. I opened the DNG in Photoshop and it looked perfect, so I exported it from there to tif for the project. Is DNG a bit buggy in Photo?
  16. This happened before 1.7 update and still exists now. My basic workflow is as follows: I edit the original files on PC with Lightroom, then export a DNG file for more adjustments in affinity photo. I upload the DNG to OneDrive, download it to iPad, open with affinity photo, and here is what I get. Whenever I’m using tiff files everything is fine. So I suppose there is a bug when importing DNG? Thank you in advance.
  17. Hi, as of build 118, DNG files from Leica Monochrome MM (first version) appear black when they open with the Serif Raw engine (with the Apple engine they appear fine). I have to drag the exposure slider all the way to the right to see a faint image. Before build 118, the raw conversion was excellent. I've installed build 223, but the problem persists. Thanks Thomas With Serif raw engine With Apple raw engine
  18. Hi, I am trying to use Affinity Photo to process DNG RAW files from a new DJI Mavic 2 pro which has the new Hasselblad inspired camera but when import the images they are very under exposed and flat. Any ideas how to process these images with Affinity. I also use DxO PL and this appears to be able to accept these files OK.
  19. Hi All I currently subscribe to Adobe and I'm finding it difficult to let go of Lightroom and Photoshop. I've had a Affinity for a while now and have gone through the Workbook to understand it better. However, I've found it's ability to carry out RAW processing in the Develop Module is lacking a little. If opening a DNG file (Which 99% of my RAW files are) I've found it doesn't render the blacks as well as a native RAW (Such as a CR2 for Canon). plus it doesn't handle the shadows and highlights as well as Adobe in general. More recently I've given an overview of Affinity Photo to our the Camera Club I attend, as I don't think anything comes near it for the price and is a great asset for those not wishing to go the Adobe route. As part of the overview I put a few DNGs together to show the club and came across a strange pink colour cast on a DNG compared to Adobe Camera RAW. See attached. I've also attached the DNG to get your thoughts. Keep up the good work guys! Designer is also superb!!!!! Carl 30_07_2018_Wales-2018-FUJI-XE1_174.DNG
  20. I've been recently trying to process some DNG files produced by my smartphone (an LG G6 aka LG-H870DS), and the colours are appearing faded with a weird hue in the Develop persona compared to the out-of-camera (OOC) JPEGs. I've tried to edit the DNGs to match the colours of the original OOC JPEGs, but have been unable to do so. I'm wondering if this is intended behaviour (in other words, me being not being proficient enough in Photo/editing), or if the DNGs are being read incorrectly. I've included the DNG files in the attachments. For some reason the JPEGs are failing to upload, but I've included a comparison between the DNG and OOC JPEGs. 20180812_072555.dng 20180821_191840.dng
  21. I need to convert my Panasonic Fz300 raw files to dng as Lr5 cannot be read the Pana raw file. By mistake; I learnt I could converter the raw files off the card. ( yeah yeah --- slow on the up-take For those interested . I have the Adobe dng converter [free] set to do the same thing each time > from same folder (card) > to same folder (NewPics) The converter will remember and do the same as last used. Once converted the dng files are imported [add] into lr5. This has removed going through On1 first If you want to rename all files; that can also be done with the dng converter also; however I delete the rubbish (heavily) in Lr5 before renaming only the better files. Like On1; I feel the dng converter renaming would be easier than Lr5 – newer versions might be different but I'm not going there ---if my Lr5 disappears I would likely use On1 and affinity I don't take much notice of the ''against'' dng argument – used to convert all files, however by not converting the Oly files I can quickly see if it's a pana or oly file . Happy to hear your pros and cons thoughts, and questions welcome Cheers; happy hunting
  22. There is a bug concerning DNG reading in affinity. I convert CR3 in DNG with DNG convert 11.0 When I read DNG with Affinity picture is not correct IMG_4456.dng
  24. Hi, Before I buy "Affinity", who could tell me if I can open and work on "dng" files produced with a Huawei P20 PRO smartphone ? Thank you in advance ! Yaghan
