  1. New artwork - “Put the Knife Down Sandra.” Part-inspired by Mia Goth in the closing shot of the horror film “ Pearl”, and part-inspired by the slightly crazed smiles of Nigella Lawson (I love Nigella, but, you know…) comes the lovely Sandra, with her slightly demented 80’s appearance. Hope you like her! (Made on Affinity Designer iPad v2)
  2. Hi. I have a lot of issues. I have V2. I am using iPad Pro 2021. Originally when I downloaded the software i installed assets. Styles brushes. The software kept closing in the middle of something. now all my assets have disappeared. I have reset it. Deleted app and re downloaded it. Reset multiple times. I have the assets icon. I open it try to create a new one but nothing happens. Go to install assets. It takes me to my files, I add one. The screen dims but still nothing. some brushes have the category but no brushes. Some styles same. No styles in there. the edges of my lines look pixelated. I have no fonts.
  3. Hello there. Apologies if this has already been asked or answered elsewhere, however, I was wondering if it is possible to use snapping for vector warp points when altering text and shapes. Do I need to use a specific warp preset or snapping tool? How would one go about making the warp groups more accurate when wanting to work in straight lines or angles? Thanks.
  4. Affinity Designer 1.9.3, iPad. When I either place a text frame, or select an existing text frame I get what’s illustrated below. This seems to block access to the standard full size keyboard + I can’t scribble into a text frame either. Sure I can use the small lite Scribble keyboard and move the Scribble panel to the side to change to bold too, but I can’t access all the characters available on the full keyboard, or type using fingers easily. Not on the tiny keyboard with my fingers anyway. The only way I seem to be able to get out of it and access the full keyboard, is to put the app into the background and then call it back again. Then the full keyboard comes up. Is there a setting I’ve missed here, or some action? I’ve been through the preferences.
  5. I don’t get it! From the reviews I’ve read before getting the Affinity Designer for the iPad, I was under the impression that this is the best design app ever! How does the best design app ever not have a Free Transform tool or options?! I’m totally frustrated and wasting a lot of time to figure this out, because I simply can’t imagine that a “design” app doesn’t allow me to distort an image. And the idea that I have to buy another app and add to the work and time, just to transform a simple image, and disrupt my work flow! Could someone explain how this happened? Because I’m regretting buying the app with every passing day.
  6. Really struggling with this one. Questions: (Designer - iPad) How should you apply gradients to line / stroke? ( The only way I was able to achieve the illustration below was by selecting a gradient in the swatches panel/colour studio). How do you then amend the gradient? Every time I select the gradient tool, it deselects the line. Thank you illustration below should make it clear what I’m trying to do.
  7. Is this something that can’t be done (yet) in the iPad version of Designer, or have I just not twigged it? I scaled a set of objects, some of which have gradients applied. The online help (which I believe is Desktop only) explains what it is - a "gradient correction path". It says the gradient correction path can be deleted - leaving the original in place I assume - see attached. Totally fine if I have to delete and reapply the gradient. Totally understand the app is at version 1, so there’s a big mopping up job yet to do.
  8. Feature Wish list item: "Clip To Canvas" toggle available in app preferences ---------- As-is / the problem If I toggle "Clip to Canvas" so what I call the "pasteboard" is visible. Then I leave the file going out the Home screen. When I go back in, it Clips to canvas again, hiding whatever I left on the pasteboard. I have to reset it everytime I go back in. To-be / solution Ability to set it up as a default view in preferences. I suggest logical place for it is under "Interface". --------- Why it's a wish I often do a lot of boolean work with shapes. I'll do a whole sequence of boolean operations on one shape at times. I'll often do several versions too, before choosing one to include in the illustration. Sometimes I clone the shape several times. As insurance incase it all turns out a bit "wut?" and to subtract/divide + manipulate + re-add (re-assemble). There may be a lot of cleaning up to do as well. So all-in-all, a fair amount of work. Once complete I move it back on to the canvas. Sometimes, I'll leave a previous state on the pasteboard incase when I come back in with fresh eyes, I end up deciding the original was best. As an illustration gets complicated, doing this kind of work insitu can become a bit tiresome. Visual noise, but especially selection easily becomes hard work (other shapes end up being moved or selected). Being able to quickly drag a shape, or a clone of a shape, onto the pasteboard into some completely free uncluttered space in a moment of inspiration is what it's about. "The flow". Switching off/on or locking/unlocking layers is a distraction, tbh. --------- In the scheme of things, it's a finesse.... I'm hoping it's an "easy win" that can be lobbed-in with other changes.
  9. I have the latest versions of Designer and Photo for desktop and Ipad. Can’t load new brushes downloaded from Affinity website into Designer. Desktop or ipad. Is there a fix for this yet?
  10. Hi, Affinity Designer For iPad, at least in my setup, is not saving Publisher created files properly. If I make a file in Publisher Desktop and save to iCloud>customFolder, then "Open from Cloud" open file in Designer iPad, make a few edits, then save, it will not updated the file in iCloud>customFolder, but will instead write the updates to a new file of the same name in iCloud>Affinity Designer (default icloud app folder) I discovered this by accident and reproduced the error. 1. Create new multipage file in AfPublisher Desktop 2. Save in iCloud>WHATNOT folder 3. Close 4. “Open from iCloud” in AfDesigner iPad and make some edits across the pages, like this line. Save, close, save. close. 5. File in iCloud>WHATNOT is NOT updated. Went lookin elsewhere. 6. New updated version of the file in iCloud>Affinity Designer folder. Same name, but now has the afdesign extension where it showed no extension on original desktop save. 7. Opened in AfPublisher Desktop and added this test. Save and close. 8.Publisher Desktop did not move or make a new file. The file opened from iCloud>Affinity Designer was saved back to the same folder/ file. Expected behavior is that step 5 should not happen. Designer iPad was supposed to save in the same location in opened from. So yeah, this is one of the main ways I want to use Publisher and Designer together. Major bug as far as I'm concerned. (FWIW. 1st Gen iPad Pro 12.9, latest iOS and latest versions of Affinity Software across the board. 2018 Macbook Pro OS10.14 reproduced the bug. First found the bug with a Publisher file that started on a 10 year old Mac Pro running 10.13.)
  11. I'm thinking about getting a tablet for basic browsing and whatnot and to run Affinity Designer on. I have been using the desktop (win) version for a couple of years and love it. I have never owned any Apple products. My desktop is W10, my phone is Android so iPad would be interesting but I'm sure I can manage. I'm not a professional illustrator just like to tinker with vector graphics for fun. With that in mind, would you recommend the iPad 10"/4/32gb for $250 or the Surface Go 10"/4/64gb for $300? Don't really want to spend more than that. Thank you!
