  1. This week, I learned that Softpress, who made the web design application Freeway, closed its doors for good. Not a great start for the week for anyone involved in that project with present and past. I’ve been using and had input into the Freeway project for the best part of twenty years. For those who don’t know, Freeway is a DTP-like web design tool. You draw items on a blank page, and Freeway builds the HTML/CSS necessary to display your design in a browser. Extra functionality can be added using Actions - plugins which run at publish time to amend output. Actions can do a multitude of things, from massaging the HTML, to repurposing it for PHP (or indeed other server side scripting languages), and run using a JavaScript engine. The recent video posted of the Affinity DTP project, which showed responsive behaviour for print really chimed in my mind. If, I thought, they are doing this, then they’ve clearly solved UI problems that Softpress were’t able to with their responsive offering. The idea that this application could be tuned not just to printed documents, but also HTML/CSS/ etc. got me thinking that here’s a potential for a Freeway replacement. And, rather nicely, it would be borne from a DTP application - just like Freeway was all those years ago. So, my request - and I know it’s big ask, but I really hope that the minds at Serif can be turned to this - is a DTP-style web design tool in the Affinity brand. The Affinity software I have already feel more than familiar to me, and being able to build websites in an environment that feels familiar like that would be fantastic. DTP for print is just part of the tool kit for a modern designer - web sites really should be there too.

  4. This was a test for a game company one is totally with affinity but the drawings are just sign places from the web. and here you can find also another animated version half with affinity and half with illustrator, more futuristic, minimal. the text is bold and near to the border of the buttons because they have some elements of the sci-fi films of 60s with also the minimal style of the moodboard provided. Hope you like it, and if anyone is interested, I'm actually available for game companies <3
  5. Hi. Recently I wanted to make an Affinity Designer importer for Unity3D, but I didn't find any documentation about what are the Affinity files and there is no documentation about it. It would be awesome to have some information about them, then we will be able to add some more plugins and importers and extend affinity designer. For example, we need documentation for .afphoto and .afdesign files. Thanks.
  6. I see that bleed area guides have been on the feature roadmap for Design since summer of 2014. When might we expect to see this feature?
  7. Hi, I am having trouble placing a screenshot of my latest website design work into the screen area of a monitor. As you can see from the attachments I have an image showing a laptop screen, which currently has a text editor and code on its screen. I'd like to replace this with the other image, which is some of my web design work. However I can't find any way of doing this without the image looking terrible. Does anyone know how to place that "Screen Shot ..." image inside of the laptop? Please help

  12. Hello, good morning. I have bought Affinity for Windows because I have Windows on my computer at home. But i will buy a Mac soon, is there an option to download Affinity for Mac also, if I already have a product code? If not it's really a shame that I have to pay for a Windows version, and pay also for a Mac version. Regards.
  13. Hi, how should I setup a document settings for web page design? I am using macbook pro with 2560 x 1600 px resolution (native 1680 x 1050) and every time, I've made an export, the site was blurred or too big. I've tried every combinations of res and DPI, but no config works :-/ My best try was 1680 x 1050 px, 300 DPI. @1x was ok by dimensions but blurred, @2x was too big. When I use my design in Google Chrome and zoom out to 50% (using @2x export), the result was ideal (fit the screen and no blurred). But I can't making designs like that :-(

  16. Hello, I have been waiting with excitement for the Affinity BETA to come out on windows. After opening Affinity, i was not convinced. I really got this "not bad" feeling.. This is because of 1 main issue; i don't like the user interface. Functionally speaking, its great. It beats photoshop in my opinion. But its not even close to what i had hoped for.. I am a big fan of "minimalism" and "flat" design, not just for its looks, but for the overall experience. I came accross a photoshop redisign made by Aurélien Salomon on Behance: https://www.behance.net/gallery/19600227/Photoshop-redesign This is how a modern and new photo editor app/program, in my opinion, should look like. Design is contantly evolving, so the tools that are used to create design should be designed with this in mind. My suggestion: create an user interface that works with templates. Give the user control of how Affinity looks like. What would be better then an editor that by itself gives inspiration to create more beautifull & smart designs?

  21. After messing with photography, editing and a little bit of design work I finally got AD and I absolutely love it. I do a lot of marketing and design stuff for my band but there's a certain limit to what I can do before I have to source it out. I'm slowly finding my bearings and am looking forward to learning more and developing in the realm of an amateur graphic designer. Here's a couple of simple ones I recently did just to get a hand of a few techniques. Comments and criticism welcome!
  22. I decided to create visual journal to keep things organized. Due to work, i won't be able to post regularly. But i will try to keep things organized here. You can check out my Dribbble account to see my work. I haven't started posting work on Dribbble using AD yet as i got the software for 2 days only. But i would soon. You can also checkout out my DeviantArt account where i upload the source file of the design if you are interested in downloading the files and examining.
  23. Hi All, Have a user with the need to design a fillable PDF form. Looking for software to do that, something along the lines of Adobe Livecycle Designer, but without the cost or complexity. Do any of the Affinity products offer similar capability?
  24. Hello everyone! First post in the forums, so here's a little introduction/explanation first: I've been looking for a good alternative to Illustrator (which I use in my daily job) for my freelance work and came across Affinity Designer. I lurked through the forums a bit, saw the introductory video about a hundred times and eventually when Illustrator abolished my last nerve and obliterated any pieces of patience I had left, I knew - Affinity Designer will be the software I use! I thought it would be a cool idea to try and record my first project with the program and share it with the community. It's nothing special, mostly shapes and gradients, but I had to start somewhere, so here goes: A video of the process: https://youtu.be/QlpYsvdkpEY The photo of the t-shirt guy is from unsplash.com. Thanks for having a look!
