  1. Hi, In Illustrator I can set up a document 800px x 800px and create a logo on it with a much smaller size. Then I click on "Fit To Artboard" and in a millisecond my Art board is adapted to the size of my logo. How do I achieve this in Affinity Designer? Regards & Thanks, David
  2. Maybe I didn't search well enough, but I can't find where to specify a number of columns in a text frame. Can someone help, please?
  3. Hi - I've been a print designer for a long time and still do the occasional print piece.. I understand that Affinity/Serif don't plan to create an Acrobat competitor however the thought occurred to me that perhaps a prepress module could be incorporated to Publisher either as a persona or menu option? The only reason I still sub adobe is for Acrobat so that I can proof my print files. I also understand that there are prepress alternatives out there but they are industrial strength and are cost prohibitive! Would love to hear your thoughts.. Cheers
  4. Hey guys, so i want to make a wallpaper for my friend and i need help setting up the document size. I don't want to end up making such a big file that it can't be emailed to my friend. But at the same time i don't want to work on something that's too small and risk quality loss. For example if i open up a new document and make it 2560 x 1600 pixels (my friends display size) it just seems like it would be too big to email. maybe i'm wrong though. Is this the best size? Also should i select Web document? Any help is appreciated.

  7. Hello folks, My name is Dennis. I created this pixelated self-portrait a few days ago. Started it in Dottable, a pixel-art app on a mobile phone, then traced it in Affinity Designer with the grid snap feature. Then I added a few grunge textures over masked areas, imported it into Affinity Photo, and finished it off with LUT filters and monochrome noise for a subtle paper-like feel. I like how precisely the applications work together and that you can add pixel-based textures directly in Affinity Designer without having to change the application, it integrates very fluidly into the workflow. Anyway, I hope you like the result. Dennis aka MrDoodlezz
  8. Hey guys, i've been making some designs on affinity designer that i want to make into stickers some day. I've made about 4 or 5 of them but now i realize that i may have made em just a tad small. most are 7 in wide by 3 in tall. i think one or two may be 7.5 x 3 in. Anyways now im learning that these types of rectangular sticker designs would be best if they were 8 x 3 in. My question is what is the best way to resize em? would i need to start all over? should i just stretch em with a loss in quality? is there even a way to resize them without opening a new file in the correct sizing and then copying and pasting my old design onto it? -thanks in advance my fellow Affinity users.

  10. Hey guys. Im a new memeber here and new to these programs by Affinity. Anyways I've dabbled a bit in the past in illustrator and inDesign but pretty much forgot everything. So now im getting back into Graphic design simply as a hobby but this time around on Affinity. My question here is which affinity program should i use to create a Restaurant Menu? I was thinking of using Publisher. Is that the right tool to use? Any good tutorials for similar ideas made on publisher? Thanks in advance.

  12. I'm very new to the AD world and I could use a little help. I have created a business card design. How do I get that design to print like 8 on a sheet? So that if I were to send this design to a customer, it would be print ready? Right now it's just a single 3.5×2 design.
  13. Hello, my proposition is, we have an option to export curves to DXF or DWG. Im sure there are more people who not only use Affinity Designer for 2D graphics, but also for using its curves for cutting with laser or others. Sometimes i need DXF file for that, and PDF with curves is not supported by CNC. Obviously i can export it to svg and export by other programs, but its a way around this problem and not really a proper solution.

  16. Hi everyone! I'm excited to announce my newest project Affinicasts. What is it? Affinicasts features expert video tutorials and courses showcasing the Affinity-Serif product suite. Who is it for? Designers, Photographers, and anyone interested in these topics. Whether you're new to design or are migrating from another tool as a seasoned pro, Affinicasts teaches you all things Affinity-Serif. Not only do you learn more about the applications, but you also learn general design, typography, color, theory, and the history of graphic design through real-world courses and tutorials. What sets Affinicasts apart from other tutorials? With Affinicasts, we keep things simple. Whether it's demonstrating a new feature or sharing an idea to improve workflow, our aim is to convey exactly how things work when it comes to being creative with Affinity-Serif applications. Our videos and courses are delivered in 4k video quality with professional audio quality to boot. We narrate our entire process from start to finish within each video or course so that you can get context for how things work and the best way to go about doing them. Any assets and art generated during a tutorial or courses are freely available to pro and lifetime subscribers. We also offer unbiased feedback about features and how they compare to other design related tools in the space of design software. My long-term goal is to create a design-driven community where both existing and aspiring designers can come together and learn not only about Affinity-Serif software but about design in general. Future topics include design theory, designing for print, publication design (with Affinity Publisher), typography, and much more. Where can I find it? Affinicasts.com YouTube (all our free content is both on YouTube and the website) Facebook Twitter Instagram If you read this far, I look forward to any feedback you might have! I built the Affinicasts platform to help Affinity-Serif spread the word about how awesome their software is. We will be publishing new content every week so be sure to bookmark the site! I'm always happy to help out if you have questions relating to your own project(s) or how to accomplish something specific inside these programs. Feel free to reach out to me here or via our contact form.

    Colonize Mars!

First time posting here! I've been using AD for almost a year, and it's now my go-to for pretty much all of my graphic work. Here's a piece I recently whipped up that's part of a sci-fi series I'm working on. Obviously, it's inspired by old propaganda posters. That, and a heavy dose of Ray Bradbury.

    Silent Ocean - Campaign (2018)

Silent Ocean - Campaign (2018) While studying at SAE for my Bachelor of Design, I got the change to work on a social issue campaign around noise pollution in the ocean with the goal to make 10 posters around the campaign and ended up making 12 posters, 10 badges, art display piece, and a website. This project was amazing to work on allowing myself to break out of my "normal design style" and really allow me to just play around with mix design, merging vector, paper craft, images and 3D together to create something amazing Made with: Affinity Photo (Mac + iOS (iPad Pro) Affinity Designer Autodesk Maya (for 3D) "Click Here" to view the website. __ Need of a graphic designer? 25. Hi guys! I needed to create a custom design for a Brand manual and I was struggling with the fact that there's no layout grid option like sketch. So I decided to download the illustrator templates of the 960.gs grid system and adapt it to affinity designer using the constraints (so no matter how wide your artboard is, the grid will always strech porportionally). Hope you find this as useful as me. You've got three files: 12 column layout 16 column layout 24 column layout Happy designing! 960_grid_12_col.afdesign 960_grid_16_col.afdesign 960_grid_24_col.afdesign
