  1. Hi everyone! I just bought affinity recently after using the trial for about 30min, felt in love with it instantly! But one thing I didn't notice at first, how sluggish the performance is when clicking or pressing buttons, for instance: - When using Pen tool and dragging to add new nodes with a curve - When doing anything with nodes with the Node tool - Sliding the little circle on the color selection triangle - When holding space key to pan or zoom, a lot of times it doesn't even notice that I pressed space and just makes a node or makes a click instead of panning/zooming - Dragging layers around etc. In all of these cases there is a slight "delay" between clicking and the reaction of the tool, and it gets frustrating when trying to edit nodes quickly. This happens in all my computers that have Designer installed: 1. Windows 10 desktop, on this computer the delay is veeeery noticeable, which is weird since is the most powerful of the three. - Brand new recently installed Windows 10 with few applications installed. Applications that starts on runtime are: Avast, CCleaner, Deezer, Steam - Ryzen 1700, 16GB RAM, Radeon RX 560, Crucial MX300 SSD 2. Surface Pro 2 Windows 10, the delay this one it's also noticeable, but that may be just because it's not exactly a powerhouse PC. - Applications that starts on runtime are: Avira, CCleaner - Have to edit the specs when I get home but I think it's this one: Intel Core i5-4200U, 128GB SSD, 4GB RAM 3. Windows 7 desktop, on this one the delay isn't noticeable as much as the other two, but it's till noticeable when switching from other applications. - This is my home PC and there is a lot of junk software on startup and generally a really messy pc. I have to check what the startup apps are but I think it's Avira and CCleaner - Have to check what the processor is when I get home, but this is the the rest: GTX 970, 600GB HDD, 24GB RAM Hope someone can help me with this, especially on the Windows 10 desktop which I use as my work PC. The problem wasn't as noticeable on my Windows 7 in the trial version, that's why I bought Designer without trying it on other computers, thinking it will work better on my newer work computer, and shrugged of the delay and lag thinking it was just my crappy pc. Thanks for all the help in advance!
  2. I'm currently lay-outing a book on AP 1.7.3, MacBook Pro 13 " 2018, 16 GB RAM, 6x9 inch page size, simple text layout, nothing fancy, and about 50 images, images linked. Now at page 65. Right from the start there was a delay between keypress and letters being typed on the screen. Now with every page AP becomes slower, slower to safe, slower to show up after switching to other apps, in general everything is slower than just 20 pages ago. How many pages can I still add before having to start a new document? Or should I break the book up after 40 pages? My book will have about 80 pages in total, will AP be able to handle all 80 pages? Thanks
  3. Hi there, I am currently working on a project in Affinity Designer. Somehow, since a week, the app is very slow. If I draw a line with the vector brush tool, it takes about 8 seconds for the app to process and display the line (see attached video file). I've tried the following: - restarting the app - restarting the iPad several times - disconnect and reconnect the Apple pencil - checked if everything is up to date in the App Store - whether the iPad is charging, charged 100% or detached from a charger: it reacts the same - the Apple pencil is fully charged Other drawing programs such as Procreate are working perfectly, so it's nothing to do with the iPad or the Apple Pencil. The app is somehow crashing all the time. It's been like this for five days now, without any changes. Hopefully you can help me with this! WhatsApp Video 2019-09-17 at 15.23.54.mp4

  5. 1.7.1 AFPUB, Mac OS X 10.13.6. Long delays in actions/clicks. Activity Monitor also reports "not responding" for long stretches of time (minutes). Was just opening a previously created (large) file with many photos. Waited for file to load (about 2.5 minutes total). I clicked one picture frame with photo on the first page of a spread and waited 2.5 minutes for the frame to actually be selected. Finally got a response - then went to replace photo, and waited over a minute for the response to select the new photo in the Finder. Then photo went into frame enlarged so had to drag the size smaller and fit the frame to the photo. All is good, except slow. Then I clicked the next photo frame on that same page. Waited about 2 minutes for that frame to be selected. Then tried to create a picture frame on the next page of the spread - tried to size it, then a separate blue box was formed over top of the picture frame - somehow - by accident? Could not click that frame and could not click the new blue box. tried to select the created picture frame and could not select it. Could not delete either the picture frame or extra blue box. No photo added at this point. So I checked the Activity Monitor and again, "not responding". Eventually I hit Ctrl-W to close without saving (at least I could try to reload the large file again). Have seen this lag and v-e-r-y slow response also a week earlier after the final release. And - is there another forum for the final release to report more bugs or is the correct place? Thanks for help - not a good situation at present.
  6. I think maybe someone should look at my very large document. I have noticed, since the final version of AFPUB (and not before), that there is a huge delay in opening the document and getting it ready to actually edit. First there is just the loading percentage - that takes about 2-3 minutes or so. Then, if I try to open the Resource Manager right after the document is loaded, there is a 45 second delay while that populates with items. Then comes the silent delay. That goes through some 4-5 minutes or so of who knows? I can try to "do" something like show the text flow. That shows up about 2 minutes later, then I click a text box and nothing - it doesn't get selected. Waiting another 3-4 minutes, finally that text box gets highlighted. Similar delays happen when trying to select other objects to edit. All the while, I'm watching the "Force Quit" list and the Activity Monitor list and AFPUB goes into and out of "Not Responding" status about 2 times during the l-o-n-g wait and also showing %CPU upwards of 450 and back down to nominal 20-60%. It's AFPUB 1.7.1, OS X 10.13.6. computer memory 48GB, AFPUB using 23.74GB or so, plenty of local disk space 570GB available out of 1TB. This problem is repeatable, just have to close the document and open it again to see the delays. Eventually, some 5 or so minutes later - AFPUB finally gives me control. But the "not responding" status is worrisome and may indicate something that's not quite right. Let me know if I should upload the file - I think you may find some interesting "stuff" going on in the background. Thanks!
  7. Hi, After updating to the latest version of Affinity Photo I'm experiencing issues with using my iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. I am not using the Affinity Photo app on the iPad, instead I'm using Luna Display to connect my iPad to my Mac. Using Luna Display then enables my iPad to be a second screen to my Mac. Prior to this update, there was no delay between the input of my Apple Pencil to my iPad (and thus to my Mac, as I was using Luna Display). After updating to the latest version, the delay is very noticeable and makes it impossible to use my previous setup. I reverted the update and am now working with the old version, but I was wondering if this is something that you guys were aware of and if there is a fix for this coming soon, because I would like to update to the newest version of course. As the Apple Pencil delay problem stopped after reverting back to the previous version of Affinity Photo, I don't think this has anything to do with Luna Display.
  8. I’m on an iPad Pro 1st generation, and there is a delay for a fraction of a second after I begin painting before the line starts to appear on the screen. This makes it really difficult to use this program - I’m sure it’s a quick fix bc once the line starts to appear on screen, it is perfectly synced with the location of the pencil tip and also very responsive with no lag. There seems to be a constant delay before the program registers input from either the pencil or my finger. It’s the only problem I’ve had so far, but it’s kind of a deal-breaker. Please advise.
  9. Hi folks, AF Photo has never been the fastest one at start-up. Usually it took my machine around 30 seconds to load AF. But since updating* to the latest version it's 24 minutes. Usually I would have killed the start-up hang in the task manager but coincidentally I've let it doodle and -voilà!- AF showed up after the mentioned time. There's definitely something wrong here. Tried a fresh install, tried the beta, nothing helped. Any hints? I'd also appreciate to be able to download the recent (prior) version to check if the delay disappears when switching back to an earlier version. Unfortunately I've deleted the older setup file. *I've also updated to the Creator version of Win10 recently. Hopefully it's not the reason for this strange problem... My system specs: Intel i7-4790K / 32GB RAM / WIN 10 Home (64bit) / SSD 960 PRO
  10. I've been living with this for a long time now, thinking perhaps I might get used to it, but I haven't, and it still feels like it is unnecessarily slowing down my workflow. There are two issues here, but they feel related to me: Selection outline fade out when deselecting an element I either want to see a selection or I don't. Having a second in between every time I deselect something is quite frustrating. I want to work on something, see how it looks, repeat. Not working on something, wait a second, see how it looks. Outline appears after about a second of hovering over an element I'm not sure I if I need this hover feature at all, but if I do want to use it, I certainly don't want the delay. I am never going to sit with the mouse still and wait for it. I'm guessing this delay was added to prevent constant highlights, but I think holding down a key to get the highlight would be much preferable to a time delay. Additionally, I'm not sure why it fades out again almost immediately. This feature as it is just means I get shapes fading in and out every now and again, which is quite distracting. These two issues seem like things that could be configured in preferences, but I can't see a way to do so currently.
  11. Hi guys, I just bought Affinity Designer, after reading reviews and watching a few tutorials on youtube, and I was very excited. I started using it, and I love the interface, the fact that it's extremely easy to use and intuitive, and everything was fine and dandy, until I added a few shapes and added effects to them (drop shadow, gradient overlay, outline). After adding 5-7 shapes, Affinity Designer became extremely slow. The lag between my action and what happened on the screen is extremely noticeable, and when I drag shapes there's a huge bleeding effect besides the delay of the movement. Right now, for me, it's unusable, is there a fix coming soon for this? Did anyone else experience this? I don't have an extremely strong system, but Photoshop runs pretty good on my machine, so I was expecting AD to run perfectly, based on the reviews I read. 12. Hello I am not native speaker please try to read my English skill. Thank you. I just bought it today as I used to trial version look pretty good. I got a few problem is mouse or pointer lagging between drawing ,dragging and moving curve make me really annoying so, Harding to handle mouse. AF Design Lagging with Simple vectors on 6 layers. Then how to fix it. My PC specs OS : Windows 10 64 bit Version 1703 build 15063.540 I5 4590 3.3GHZ RAM DDR3 16 GB VGA intel HD 6400 Harddisk 500GB
  13. Hey, Just wanted to give a heads up that on my machine, all the tolerance sliders (opacity, HSL, etc.) all have a major delay (minus the layers panel sliders). They also aren't very sensitive and even "jumping" when when trying to make delicate shifts in value. They have no issue when clicking on a particular section of the slider, which is sometimes what I have to resort to. It's pretty troublesome when you have to make very slight variations. Let me know if you need any info. Thanks! Windows 7 (64) AMD Phenom II X4 925 2.8GHZ 8 GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce GT 720 Monoprice MP-22 Display Tablet
  14. Update: I managed to solve the delay problem by starting AP while holding CTRL and clearing all settings. The rough strokes are still present. Also the faster you draw, the more edgy (rough) the curve will get. Update 2: Another Useful note for people who have problems with the delay: A thing you might want to do, is to rename the file "c:\Windows\System32\wisptis.exe" to something like "c:\Windows\System32\wisptis.exe_". This is the file responsible for a build in (Windows) Tablet Service which causes a delay by itself, different from the delay that is exclusive to AP. It was spawning for me every time with Affinity Photo, no matter which settings i changed in order to prevent that from happening. So renaming was the only viable solution for me. ------------------------------------------------------ Hello there, i'm glad to see the Affinity line on Windows, but i have some problems in Affinity Photo. First of all, the brush stokes are delayed for about 100ms (roughly estimated). Rapid strokes as in writing text becomes a hard task. Also, maybe because of this, in the time of the delay, the part of the line you are drawing (within that delay) will be drawn as a perfect straight line, even if you try to do circles for instance. To top it off, the brush stokes themselves look very rough, and curves are not smooth at all. you can clearly see fractions of straight lines that make out the curves you want to draw. These problems are not present in other, similar applications. I want to mention that, different to other applications i tried, the brush looks very pixelated on settings near 100 for hardness. this could be intentional, but i wanted to include it. - Tests are done with a Intuos4 and a Trackball with the same results - I'm on the latest version as i'm writing, 1.5.0.45 - Windows 7, 64 Bit Best regards.
  15. I have been using Designer for over a year, everything works perfectly. Today I got the update to AD 1.4 and also decided to test AP. I have some lag using zoom, all levels. Something very annoying. I do not know if this is a problem of performance. I tried to change the preferences and nothing happened, the problem remains. In Photo the performance is terrible. -- MacBook Pro 13" retina - late 2013 cpu: i5 2,4GHz ram: 8GB ssd: 256GB Intel Iris 1536MB OS X: 10.11.2 A.Designer 1.4 A.Photo 1.4 (trial) ad-zoom-lag.mov ap-zoom-lag.mov
