    Paintbrush delay

I’m on an iPad Pro 1st generation, and there is a delay for a fraction of a second after I begin painting before the line starts to appear on the screen. This makes it really difficult to use this program - I’m sure it’s a quick fix bc once the line starts to appear on screen, it is perfectly synced with the location of the pencil tip and also very responsive with no lag. There seems to be a constant delay before the program registers input from either the pencil or my finger. It’s the only problem I’ve had so far, but it’s kind of a deal-breaker. Please advise.
  2. Hi folks, AF Photo has never been the fastest one at start-up. Usually it took my machine around 30 seconds to load AF. But since updating* to the latest version it's 24 minutes. Usually I would have killed the start-up hang in the task manager but coincidentally I've let it doodle and -voilà!- AF showed up after the mentioned time. There's definitely something wrong here. Tried a fresh install, tried the beta, nothing helped. Any hints? I'd also appreciate to be able to download the recent (prior) version to check if the delay disappears when switching back to an earlier version. Unfortunately I've deleted the older setup file. *I've also updated to the Creator version of Win10 recently. Hopefully it's not the reason for this strange problem... My system specs: Intel i7-4790K / 32GB RAM / WIN 10 Home (64bit) / SSD 960 PRO
  3. I've been living with this for a long time now, thinking perhaps I might get used to it, but I haven't, and it still feels like it is unnecessarily slowing down my workflow. There are two issues here, but they feel related to me: Selection outline fade out when deselecting an element I either want to see a selection or I don't. Having a second in between every time I deselect something is quite frustrating. I want to work on something, see how it looks, repeat. Not working on something, wait a second, see how it looks. Outline appears after about a second of hovering over an element I'm not sure I if I need this hover feature at all, but if I do want to use it, I certainly don't want the delay. I am never going to sit with the mouse still and wait for it. I'm guessing this delay was added to prevent constant highlights, but I think holding down a key to get the highlight would be much preferable to a time delay. Additionally, I'm not sure why it fades out again almost immediately. This feature as it is just means I get shapes fading in and out every now and again, which is quite distracting. These two issues seem like things that could be configured in preferences, but I can't see a way to do so currently.
  4. Hi guys, I just bought Affinity Designer, after reading reviews and watching a few tutorials on youtube, and I was very excited. I started using it, and I love the interface, the fact that it's extremely easy to use and intuitive, and everything was fine and dandy, until I added a few shapes and added effects to them (drop shadow, gradient overlay, outline). After adding 5-7 shapes, Affinity Designer became extremely slow. The lag between my action and what happened on the screen is extremely noticeable, and when I drag shapes there's a huge bleeding effect besides the delay of the movement. Right now, for me, it's unusable, is there a fix coming soon for this? Did anyone else experience this? I don't have an extremely strong system, but Photoshop runs pretty good on my machine, so I was expecting AD to run perfectly, based on the reviews I read. My system: Windows 7 64 bit RAM: 8GB Intel Core i5-4690, 3.50 GHz Nvidia Geforce GTX 750
  5. Hi everyone! I just bought affinity recently after using the trial for about 30min, felt in love with it instantly! But one thing I didn't notice at first, how sluggish the performance is when clicking or pressing buttons, for instance: - When using Pen tool and dragging to add new nodes with a curve - When doing anything with nodes with the Node tool - Sliding the little circle on the color selection triangle - When holding space key to pan or zoom, a lot of times it doesn't even notice that I pressed space and just makes a node or makes a click instead of panning/zooming - Dragging layers around etc. In all of these cases there is a slight "delay" between clicking and the reaction of the tool, and it gets frustrating when trying to edit nodes quickly. This happens in all my computers that have Designer installed: 1. Windows 10 desktop, on this computer the delay is veeeery noticeable, which is weird since is the most powerful of the three. - Brand new recently installed Windows 10 with few applications installed. Applications that starts on runtime are: Avast, CCleaner, Deezer, Steam - Ryzen 1700, 16GB RAM, Radeon RX 560, Crucial MX300 SSD 2. Surface Pro 2 Windows 10, the delay this one it's also noticeable, but that may be just because it's not exactly a powerhouse PC. - Applications that starts on runtime are: Avira, CCleaner - Have to edit the specs when I get home but I think it's this one: Intel Core i5-4200U, 128GB SSD, 4GB RAM 3. Windows 7 desktop, on this one the delay isn't noticeable as much as the other two, but it's till noticeable when switching from other applications. - This is my home PC and there is a lot of junk software on startup and generally a really messy pc. I have to check what the startup apps are but I think it's Avira and CCleaner - Have to check what the processor is when I get home, but this is the the rest: GTX 970, 600GB HDD, 24GB RAM Hope someone can help me with this, especially on the Windows 10 desktop which I use as my work PC. The problem wasn't as noticeable on my Windows 7 in the trial version, that's why I bought Designer without trying it on other computers, thinking it will work better on my newer work computer, and shrugged of the delay and lag thinking it was just my crappy pc. Thanks for all the help in advance!

    Tolerance Sliders Delayed

Hey, Just wanted to give a heads up that on my machine, all the tolerance sliders (opacity, HSL, etc.) all have a major delay (minus the layers panel sliders). They also aren't very sensitive and even "jumping" when when trying to make delicate shifts in value. They have no issue when clicking on a particular section of the slider, which is sometimes what I have to resort to. It's pretty troublesome when you have to make very slight variations. Let me know if you need any info. Thanks! Windows 7 (64) AMD Phenom II X4 925 2.8GHZ 8 GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce GT 720 Monoprice MP-22 Display Tablet
  8. Update: I managed to solve the delay problem by starting AP while holding CTRL and clearing all settings. The rough strokes are still present. Also the faster you draw, the more edgy (rough) the curve will get. Update 2: Another Useful note for people who have problems with the delay: A thing you might want to do, is to rename the file "c:\Windows\System32\wisptis.exe" to something like "c:\Windows\System32\wisptis.exe_". This is the file responsible for a build in (Windows) Tablet Service which causes a delay by itself, different from the delay that is exclusive to AP. It was spawning for me every time with Affinity Photo, no matter which settings i changed in order to prevent that from happening. So renaming was the only viable solution for me. ------------------------------------------------------ Hello there, i'm glad to see the Affinity line on Windows, but i have some problems in Affinity Photo. First of all, the brush stokes are delayed for about 100ms (roughly estimated). Rapid strokes as in writing text becomes a hard task. Also, maybe because of this, in the time of the delay, the part of the line you are drawing (within that delay) will be drawn as a perfect straight line, even if you try to do circles for instance. To top it off, the brush stokes themselves look very rough, and curves are not smooth at all. you can clearly see fractions of straight lines that make out the curves you want to draw. These problems are not present in other, similar applications. I want to mention that, different to other applications i tried, the brush looks very pixelated on settings near 100 for hardness. this could be intentional, but i wanted to include it. - Tests are done with a Intuos4 and a Trackball with the same results - I'm on the latest version as i'm writing, 1.5.0.45 - Windows 7, 64 Bit Best regards.

    Zoom Lag - update 1.4

I have been using Designer for over a year, everything works perfectly. Today I got the update to AD 1.4 and also decided to test AP. I have some lag using zoom, all levels. Something very annoying. I do not know if this is a problem of performance. I tried to change the preferences and nothing happened, the problem remains. In Photo the performance is terrible. -- MacBook Pro 13" retina - late 2013 cpu: i5 2,4GHz ram: 8GB ssd: 256GB Intel Iris 1536MB OS X: 10.11.2 A.Designer 1.4 A.Photo 1.4 (trial) ad-zoom-lag.mov ap-zoom-lag.mov
