  1. In AD 1, you positioned the cursor between the letters, but it disappeared while you adjusted the kerning. This allowed you to closely see the adjustment being made. In AD2, the cursor instead remains. This obscures the adjustment being made.
  2. Hello Affinity Team, Is there a way to preview the cursor/brush size while painting or brushing? I understand the iPad doesn't have hover support but at least while brushing, I hope to see the boundaries of the brush. Thank you so much!
  3. macOS 12.6.3 Affinity Designer 2.0.4 Hello I keep my UI window filling the whole screen. I often find the window shifting out of position, which is very annoying, hiding the menus, scrollbars, etc. Especially working with tablet & pen it is very easy to accidentally move the app window when pressing any of the top menu bar icons. Please fix this. When pressing into button area, moving the window should not be possible. Untitled.mov
  4. I do a lot of design work for the middle eastern world. I have certain arabic fonts installed on my mac computer. However, the right to left input functionality does not work for the arabic font to make sense. It works in other mac applications such as Pages. This is a super important feature and I would really love for Affiinity Designer to support right-to-left scripts for writing in foreign languages such as Hebrew or Arabic input. This is where the cursor starts on the right side and the font lettering goes left. Please add this, it is super important for my niche! B) Thanks.
  5. I'm having a lot of throughput inefficiency when working with both Affinity Publisher and Affinity Photo. I use a lot of textboxes backed up by the Callout Rounded Rectangle (these are self-contained instances—no flowing to another textbox). A great deal of this work involves editing the contents of a text box, resizing the callout rectangle and/or moving both into the desired position in a graphic. My problem is that if I edit a textbox, when I finish, it wants to create new textboxes instead of allowing me to easily click on another object to manipulate it. I've seen it try to impose a new textbox on an existing one instead of selecting that one to edit. To make things worse, when I click in an empty space, I'm often presented with a Node tool cursor instead of the Move tool, which is simply inexplicable. So there is a lot of unnecessary use of either the [Esc] key or the [V] shortcut just to get to what I consider the "starting" point: an active selection pointer I can use on the next item of interest. Of course, trying the [V] shortcut when a textbox still has focus leaves my text littered with "v" characters that I may not notice. So I have to do at least two steps to get out of editing a textbox and move on. Is there a setting that will allow me to dependably click on a empty spot (i.e., select no object) and always get the Move pointer? Thanks!
  6. Good afternoon. I have been using Affinity Publisher with the 1.7.3 update with no issues. I left a file open last night but windows decided to reboot my computer thus shutting everything down. When I opened Publisher today it recovered my work alright but for some reason the document keeps moving to the left and I can't stop it. It only does it when the cursor is over the workspace and stops when I move the cursor off the workspace. I have saved the work and shut down Publisher and re-opened Publisher but it makes no difference. It also does it if I open a new document in Publisher. I have just tried opening files in Photo 1.7.3 and also Designer 1.7.3 and the same thing happens. has anyone else come accross this issue or have any ideas how to stop it? I can't do anything with it. Just a thought...I updated Publisher and Photo a soon as the updates were available and everything worked OK. I did the Designer update yesterday. Many thanks in advance
  7. Dear Affinity Team! Thank you for this very fine and delicate software. -let's make it even better! ❤️ Please if possible ad a function where you can disable/enable Auto Select. It would mean a great deal to many! As it is now, you loose your selection when you try to edit a layer, but mishit or have an overlapping layer interfering. Also it takes so much extra time to grab an object, change text or even do the slightest changes. -please let me know if this needs elaboration.. Best Regards!
  8. Hi, I'm running Affinity Photo 1.10.1 on Windows 10 x64, with 64GB RAM and nVidia GTX 1080 video card (with the latest nVidia Studio drivers) on a 4K monitor. And I've noticed recently an odd problem that occurs only in specific images with repeating patterns in them. When hovering (just hovering, not clicking or doing anything) with the Brush tool (although this may occur with other tools too, but I didn't tests these) causes the image underneath to change momentarily, then revert back. This happens with every movement of the mouse over these regions of the image. See attached video for an example. I have also attached the image I used in the video. These artifacts are distracting & annoying - and don't occur on "natural" images, only such that exhibit some repeating patterns. I'd really appreciate it if this can be fixed in a future release. Thanks! -- TR affinity-photo-issue.mov
  9. Not a biggie, but a slight annoyance. My Freehand Selection Tool cursor icon keeps getting stuck on either the "View Tool" or "Move Tool" icons. Sometimes it starts with the usual Freehand Slection icon, but if I switch between tools the icon doesn't change back. I can still make selections as usual, but since the View Tool icon (hand) is quite bulky it can be quite tricky to make accurate selections as I can't see exactly which point the cursor is selecting from. Photo attached for reference.
  10. Dear Affinity team, I ran into an inconsistency when navigating text with cursor keys. Reproduce * Place cursor inside any text * Press OPTION + CURSOR LEFT/RIGHT * Native MacOS: jumps word by word left/right * Publisher: narrows down word/character space * Expectation would be to make use of muscle memory from MacOS and use the same keyboard shortcut within Publisher, eg use SHIFT + OPTION + CURSOR LEFT/RIGHT (or any other) * Same for CMD + CURSOR LEFT/RIGHT which under MacOS is used for line wise jump, in Publisher used for word wise jump. System * MacOS 10.14.6 * Macbook Pro 2014 * Publisher 1.9 * No other issues encountered Would appreciate if this could be changed in the future. Thank you.
  11. Mac 10.115.3, AFPUB 1.8.3 On the Mac, the user can set Notifications to pop up on the desktop. I've noticed that when this happens and you are using some tool while editing an AFPUB document, the cursor can change. For example, if I am editing text in a frame, you have a vertical bar as a cursor. When a notification pops up, the cursor instantly changes to an arrow. And it stays an arrow until you click somewhere else on the document (say, outside the bleed area). Happens reliably. It's a small nit to pick, but it is annoying and it can make for a confusing situation - you don't know where you are in the text since the cursor has changed and the vertical bar is no longer visible.
  12. I am using Affinity designer Mac and have done for years. I am no expert but know enough to get the things I need to done. When I use the move tool or shape tools they work as normal but all other tools freeze at the edge of the canvas and you can not see the cursor until it reaches the other side and reappears. I have reset everything, restarted my mac, reinstalled the software and nothing helps me. The software has become totally unusable. I have searched but not found anyone that has the same problem. I have not included a screenshot as it looks normal in a screenshot but it is not I would really appreciate some help. Thank you.
  13. AFPUB 1.7.3, OS X 10.13.6. This is more of a visual nuisance than anything else, except when you need to be accurate when you "point and click". I've noted that there are a number of situations where the cursor should change based on its position, but it does not. Not clicking, just moving. For example, you might be using the Frame Text Tool so your cursor is a cross-hair with a "T" and if you move the cursor over to the "Tools" menu (left side, usually) the cursor might not change to a pointer. This seems to be fairly rare and random. Usually, if you click somewhere, the cursor will change to an appropriate type depending on where you click. But the simple movement of the cursor over the entire window can cause the wrong cursor to be displayed in certain places. I have seen just now the special cursor that displays when you hover over an edge of a window - usually to move that window's edge left-right or up-down. It "jammed" with that cursor while I was hovering over the swatches to add one to the global. The cursor isn't included in a screen shot (full screen) so not sure it can be captured. However, I did take a photo of the cursor hovering on the Pages panel while showing that special "move the window edge" cursor instead of a pointer. I had to attempt to get that cursor about eight times before the system obliged. I guess it's just the timing, maybe how fast the cursor is moving or some other positioning algorithm that's misbehaving.
  14. Unfortunately the following bug was not fixed in version 1.7 (1.7.0.367): https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/38289-dual-monitor-with-different-scaling-tool-cursor-image-huge/ The same problem still exists with Affinity Photo 1.7 under Windows 10 1903 with Surface Book 2 (200%) and external monitor (100%). I'm really disappointed that this bug still hasn't been fixed after over 2 years. Please solve the problem, so Affinity Photo is not usable with dual monitors.
  15. Hi all, I think I should report this really annoying bug that is still present. See screenrecording (it's not about video compression) - to me it seems like canvas is divided to many parts and the part right below cursor renders in half resolution then redraw in retina but jumps back and forward from sharp to pixelated :( Present for a long time - whenever I search in forum for GUI bugs it seems to me like this wasn't reported or at least resolved yet. Sorry if I duplicate such report... Affinity Photo 1.7.3 on iMac 27-inch 2017, Radeon Pro 580 8 GB, macOS 10.15.1 No matter if I turn Open GL instead of Metal in preferences... 16. So sad that after so long since the last release it still has bug I've reported here: Please listen to me and watch the video - even the brush cursor is raw as it was! Or is it something in Cupertino you can't fix? Or is it just on my configuration and all others use photoshop to paint on such machine? I can use it too thanks to my job but personally I want to hold on Affinity! Thank you for your effort anyway. I'm aware that this is still beta.
  17. Dear Affinity Team, I love your applications and I’m immensely happy about having an InDesign alternative now as well. However, there’s one thing that somewhat annoyed me from the beginning: for the navigation through text you chose the Adobe shortcuts instead of the native macOS shortcuts. This is rather disturbing if you’re a keyboard person and constantly using Apple’s iWorks suite as well as different text editors. As I somewhat understand that you want to make the switch easy for Adobe users, why not add the “Text shortcuts” as listed on your help site to the keyboard shortcuts customisation in the settings? You can even do this in Adobe programs. Example Moves cursor to start of word: macOS native: ⌥← (which is Text/Spacing/Tighten in Affinity or Adobe) Affinity: ⌘← (which is Moves cursor to start of line in macOS native shortcuts) I wrote something similar a few years back and I am not the only one disturbed by this. Cheers, Hagen.
  18. I’ve just tried to edit some text pasted in from LibreOffice Writer (paste as plain text), and when I type, the editor moves the text cursor to the end of the line. See my attached GIF where I try a few times in different ways and it seems to move the cursor when I press SPACE. Not a massive problem but unexpected.
  19. To my knowledge theres no way to see an actual brush cursor in AP other than a representation of the brush style. This is often very difficult to work with, especially when working on small details. This is for two reasons. 1) The brush tip cursor is a dynamically scaling thumbnail of the brush style. For those brushes with unusual shapes, this is problematic as a clear focal point doesn't exist. 2) The brush tip cursor color is matching the currently selected color. In theory this is helpful but often when using color values close in appearance it is virtually impossible to see the brush tip cursor. I understand it has been asked for before but I'd like to put my virtual 2 cents in. Is there any possibility that we will ever get a legit dynamic cursor that is similar to virtually all other image editing programs on the market? It would be immensely helpful. Thank you kindly for your feedback and putting this in as a hot feature update for this weekend (wishful thinking lol).
  20. After changing the baseline the text selection becomes very difficult, as a human we place the cursor at the text we intend to select but Publisher selects some other part of the text. This makes selection very difficult. Kindly fix it. Affinity bug.mov
  21. Hey everyone, hope that you are well. I have a personal blog where I like to create pixel art. Still learning but yeah, I'm very comfortable with Affinity Designer for my normal vector work so I decided to give it a try for raster images. The thing is: the cursor is driving me nuts! Whenever I increase brush size (2px and up) the "preview" pixel that is going to be painted is displayed top left of the cursor. This video may help illustrate what I'm talking about https://screencast.com/t/k8yET7ijH Is this normal or the expected way for the tool to work? I'm using square brushes.
  22. HI - Am trying publisher for our village magazine. Is there any way of getting the pointer to revert back to the move/select tool after creating or editing a text box? At the moment it leaves it in text box mode so I try to select something else and it creates a box. It's annoying that I have to remember to select the move tool everytime. IN pageplus this wasn't an issue. Any help appreciated. Thanks
  23. Spacing group: when I hover my mouse on the left indent number value and scroll my mouse wheel up or down, the value accordingly increases or decreases (I really like this feature!), however the first line indent value also increases or decreases right along with it. I think this is a bug because this doesn't happen when I perform the same action on any of the other values in the Spacing group.. Arrowing up: I wanted to have a list that numbered 1.a.1, so to get the 2nd level counting to letters, I changed those paragraphs to type:a,b,c (haven't seen any way to customize my numbering formats, but also haven't looked too hard yet). When arrowing up/down from the middle of a paragraph, there is no weirdness. However when arrowing up with the cursor at the left-most position of a level 1 paragraph and into a level 2 paragraph, the cursor jumps from the left margin to strange positions going up. Here's an example - read from the bottom up: [[cursor lands here, back where it started]]this is a level 1 paragraph with several lines this is another level 1 paragraph, pretend it also has several lines[[cursor lands here]] this is a level 2 paragraph with several [[cursor lands here]]lines and this is the second line more level 2[[cursor lands here, skipping paragraph below]] yet another level 2 [[cursor lands here]]back to level 1 [[start with cursor here]]and more level 1 Weird...
  24. Hi, I have a problem with the brush cursor in Affinity on Mac: When I have brushes with some kind rotation function applied, like brush direction, the brush cursor does not respect this and stays the same all the time. Although I appreciate the refined brush cursor in some use cases, this is quite annoying, as this makes it hard to judge how the strokes will come out. Applications like Paintstorm do have a rotating brush cursor, and its very helpful. Either the brush cursor should rotate, or I need a neutral brush cursor like a crosshair. More options in the respect would be helpful.
  25. hi recently I have met several problems when I used the affinity designer . the first is, the cursor jumping out my my control, when I designed a document with about 10,000 words in affinity designer of Mac. the second is , when I want to share my design in the affinity design of iPad, the whole app closed itself. I have tried the two documents several times, and I'm sure that the problem always occurred , not just happened occasionally. and as my documents have something privately, especially one of them is diary . so please forgive me for not uploading the files . hope that there is someone can help me . thanks.
