  1. Please fix the number of times you have to switch tools to use the Colour and Style picker. Ideally, you could switch to the Move tool by holding Ctrl (instead of adding to the swatches panel). Toggling tools requires one button instead of two. Another option is to turn both tools in a sampling mode (regular click) and apply mode (alt click). The apply mode then applies the colour or appearance to the object under the cursor. This current tool switching gymnastics should really be avoided.
  2. When I use the rotate widget, I cannot duplicate the object I am dragging with any of the modifier keys. Please add this option, because hitting duplicate before rotating an object kills the flow for me.
  3. I've asked a Question in Support forum about this issue and it seems there's no way around this. Problem: I use a lot CTRL + single-left-mouse-click to select an object. But what happens very often is that it creates accidental duplicate objects which I don't notice until later in the day. I make 10+ such unwanted duplicates a day and it's very painful. I don't purposefully drag the mouse, I just single-click, but it still creates copies (10+ times a day). Suggestion: Edit > Preferences > Tools. Add a configuration like: "Deep object selection (CTRL+ click)" : "Do not copy when dragged by default" So a dropdown selection, with current behavior and new behavior.
  4. Just a minor suggestion about the CTRL 1 and CTRL 0 keys to display the image at 100% or 'fit on screen'. From a logical viewpoint I can see that CTRL 1 makes sense for 100% and I guess that CTRL 0 in this context makes sense for 'fit on screen'. However from a practical point of view toggling between these 2 displays is something that tends to be done quite a lot during the processing phase of the workflow. The ability to simply use one hand to CTRL 1 to show the image at 100% works very well. However when I want to go back to 'fit on screen' I have to either use 2 hands to use CTRL 0 or use my left hand to do this, which is much more difficult (I have tried it and it's very awkward). If the CTRL 0 was replaced with CTRL 2 (for example) this would mean that it would be very easy to toggle between 100% and 'fit on screen' with one hand. This would simplify the processing and make it more efficient.
  5. Hello Affinity Photo development team, I'm a newbie to your program, but have worked as a digital illustrator for several years. Affinity Photo is a really nice program - a nice alternative to Photoshop. It could be a great program for digital illustrators and painters... But it is missing a critical option for higher speed efficiency: a fast color picker option by pressing "Ctrl" or "Alt" This is present in Photoshop, Corel Painter, Krita, OpenCanvas, PaintStorm Studio, etc. It is very important to painters to be able to access the color picker quickly. When you hold down "Ctrl" or "Alt" and click on the color - it color picks it. Then when you let go of the "Ctrl" or "Alt" key, it goes back to the tool you were using before. When you have to switch between brush and color picker, this wastes twice the amount of time. An extra second or fraction of a second may not seem like a lot - but it adds up. A painting that would take 2 hours, takes 4 hours. A piece that would take 1 day, takes 2 days. 1 week turns into 2 weeks, etc. This would be a great addition to Affinity Photo - for all artists. One last idea... Is allowing the user to "fix" the color wheel triangle in a fixed position - instead of having it rotate all around pointing at the chosen color. Why? Because having lightness point up, darkness point down, and saturation point right - is far easier for the brain to process than having the triangle flip all around the wheel... it makes picking specific shades across different colors inconsistent.. harder to match the same saturation position on different colors... because it has changed position. It's easier for the brain to map out the color triangle when it's fixed in one position. White up - black down - and saturation to the right.. Would be far easier to remember for artists - who need consistency, and speed in color picking. Thank you immensely for viewing and considering these ideas!!
  6. This report is about a bug with the keyboard shortcut CTRL+Left Click. This is how it should work: When you press CTRL + drag, it creates a duplicate of the form, and drags it around. This is a fast way to copy an object. I can hold down CTRL + hold down Left Click, and losen up the CTRL, and drag the duplicate around with me. This is how it currently works: When you press CTRL + drag, it creates a duplicate of the form visually, and drags it around. If you losen up the key CTRL, the copied object disappears, and the original object that was being copied, would now appear to be dragged around. I must hold in the CTRL key all the time, and losen it AFTER I have stopped holding left click on it, in order for the duplicate to be permanent.
  7. Hi guys, thank you for reading this. I would ask you to consider a very smart and intuitive way to navigate the canvas. Illustrator (and also Photoshop with some minor difference) uses the modifier keys Ctrl, Alt, Shift and Space in combination to activate or deactivate certain tools. This solution is very useful and super fast because you do not need to move your fingers over the keyboards and you do not need to hit a key twice to activate/deactivate a tool, but with just 4 keys you can access to all the navigation tools, like pan, zoom, select, and so on. You probably already know what I'm referring about, but I'll add a list of the most common combos (please note that being a combo means also to hold them together while using the tool): Ctrl = Object Selection (or, if Object Selection is active, it triggers Element Selection) Ctrl + Space = Zoom In Ctrl + Space + Alt = Zoom Out Alt = Drag Copy (also after clicking for drag, atm it works just before) If you have to deal with conflicts among other shortcuts, like combos already used for other functions, please contact me and I'll be happy to deal with it. Finding the same interface as the most popular software would have many advantages: - reduce frustration and improve experience using the software - reduce adoption time - triggers interoperability between software (so you can use the same habits while switching from one sw to another...yes, someone still does) - uses a model already spread and tested, based on years of experience I totally understand that this is another software and it's normal to not expect to find the same stuff of the competitors, but this is not the kind of thing that makes AD positively different from its competitors (imho of course); making the transition from one software to another as smooth as possible for as many users as possible I think is more valuable. I and a bunch of other folks would really love to find these combos in the next updates. Thank you for your attention. p.s. dear reader of this topic, please, add here other combos that you would like to have in the future.
  8. Hi guys, Affinity has a really cool feature that allows you to see the exact distance between two objects, by holding Ctrl after selecting an object, and hovering another object, and the distance between those object will be shown. It's a really cool feature, but a feature I don't always use. Is there a way to enable/disable it? Thank you, Chris ps: kudos to the awesome community and to a wonderful app.
  9. Hey guys! :) Just joined this forum and started using the trial of Photo. I am coming (what a surprise) from Photoshop and really miss a option in Photo to configure which button has to be pressed for zooming in with the scroll wheel. I am really used to using the "ALT" button (Im on Windows btw) in pair with the scroll wheel. The standard seems to be a combination of "CTRL + Scroll". Other than that I am really impressed with Photo. My not-so-powerful notebook flies through the program; this wouldn´t be possible with Photoshop. (My gaming PC on the other hand just doesn´t care if its open and running  ) Awesome work! When there is money to spare I will buy this awesome piece of software B)
  10. Does the layer list get activated when the mouse cursor moves above it? If so, what would people like the idea to be able to assign Ctrl, Alt or Shift as modifiers to mouse wheel, to be applied to that list? Functions like: Ctrl+Wheel = Move Selected layer up/down Shift+Wheel = Select layers up/down Alt+Wheel = Change layer transparency/mode Other functions to enable with modifiers could be like: wheel Up = Show layer wheel Down = Hide layer wheel Up = Select widget tabs right wheel down = Select widget tabs left
  11. A lot of art programs like Paint Tool Sai/ Clip Studio use the shortcut combo "CTRL + ALT" and a drag to change your brush size quick and easily. I'm not sure how hard this will be to implement into Photo/Designer; but it would be a really great feature for people looking to freelance with the brush/pen tool and with tools like the Selection brush tool.
  12. Hello everyone! I've got some questions about shortcuts in Affinity Photo and Designer: 1.: I read that ctrl + shift + tab is supposed to let me jump to the next file. But for whatever reason, this only works sometimes. Is there a different way to jump to the next / previous file? Could I be doing something wrong? 2.: Is there a way to select the layer above / below the currently selected one? I am working on OSX 11.6 using Designer 1.5.1 and Photo 1.5.1. Thanks for any help! Shu
  13. Hey, So in Photoshop you can Ctrl click a layer and use either Alt, Shift, and Alt+Shift (on Windows) to allow the subtracting, adding or selecting the intersection of the current selection. This is really handy for creating masks and composite shapes. I know in Affinity Photo that you can Ctrl click a layer to select the opaque area, but using the keyboard modifiers doesn't seem to do anything else. Is there another way to do what I do in Photoshop in Affinity Photo? Cheers, Mark
  14. When you hold ctrl and select an object that's grouped together with another object, you select that object instead of the group. This is a great feature, and I use it a lot. When you hold ctrl and drag, you copy and drag the selected object. This feature is also available when you hold alt + drag. Is there a way to disable the ctrl + drag and only use alt + drag? Because I can't seem to stop making copies when I try to select a grouped object.
  15. According to this video, holding down Ctrl when drawing a box with the move tool should change the selection behavior. With Ctrl pressed, any object touching the marked area should be selected, however this does not work on Windows. Objects still need to be fully within the area to be selected, even though I'm holding down Ctrl. I've tried Shift and Alt, but no modifier key seems to have this effect. Thanks. PS: Your program is totally awesome nonetheless. It's just a joy to learn about the features and how simple and well thought out things are.
