  1. Hi all, New user here... running Windows 10 on desktop PC. Affinity Publisher v 1.8.5.703 I've been using Publisher for about a week, first on the free trial version, then purchased it a couple of days ago. Having been frustrated trying to get Word to jump through hoops on a book project, I though it was time to invest in a decent DTP and liked the look of Publisher. I imported the file from a PDF (couldn't figure out how to import a Word doc directly), so images were imported along with the text. Everything imported pretty well, although there are some odd line breaks, which are easy to fix, and some lines with only two or three words exhibiting extreme justification - I've found it easier to replace the entire paragraph in those cases. (I'm not convinced that this is a Publisher issue, it probably results from the PDF conversion.) Everything was going pretty well until last evening. I'd been working on the project all day with no trouble, then came back to it after a Zoom conference all (I only mention this in case it has relevance), whereupon the program started crashing to desktop (CTD) frequently. The first time, I had been trying to figure out how to caption an image and place that within a text block (I'm still struggling with this). Then, I changed the font size in my page headers and numbers and tried to save - again, CTD. I can reproduce this regularly with my working file, but things seem OK on a new file. There were a few other seemingly random CTD incidents when I was working on the document, where it would CTD without warning.
  2. Hi, My first time creating a topic on this forum, please excuse any errors / oversights. Today I encountered this error on Affinity Designer 1.8.5.703 on Windows 10. I had 6 artboards in a file. I created slices and exported jpegs and closed the file. Later on when modifications were done to some of the artboards and ready for exporting slices again, the file kept on crashing when the slices panel was opened. On searching the forums for similar issues reported by others, I came across this (and other similar) thread(s):- I think this issue was addressed earlier, but has resurfaced in this version. I updated Affinity Designer to 1.8.5.703 last Saturday (19th Sept 2020) from the earlier version 1.8.4.x. Since my workflow (almost always) involves creating multiple artboards and exporting slices I can say with confidence that I have never encountered this issue earlier, i.e. since Nov 2019 when I began using Affinity Designer. In the meanwhile, I copied the artwork to a new file and refrained from creating slices. The new file has been behaving OK. Please let me know if you require additional inputs from me.
  3. It seems that dragging a symbol into a clone of itself is possible when it's a nested symbol (a symbol inside a symbol). This leads to a crash Drag the child symbol of one of the symbols to be the sibling (drop it underneath) of the parent's clone's child (the clone of itself in the other parent). Crash Bug 2.afdesign
  4. Thie mornig I opened my Suite to continue a job due monday morning. After a couple of minutes editing in Publisher, on "save" the app turns off, leaving (fortunately) the file unaltered. I tried several times, with and without admin privileges, But no way. Every time I try to save, the App crashes fatally. I changed to my backup machine, with a previous version installed. Same drama. So it must be the file. Special page format? This happens to be a pesky failure under production conditions, probably will be busting my deadline. (still got 16 hours to get this done.) Any ideas? (file attached). I LOVE the suite, this is my first ever FATAL accident. Regards, Mathias Flowpack_Grundseite_1_Kg.afpub
  5. A group containing 2 objects with erase blend mode, changing/hovering over some of the blend mode options for only one of them will cause designer to crash Select one of the circles in the group. Try to change the blend mode to "normal". It does work to change them both to something like "normal", and then change one of them back to erase. But changing one of them when both of them are erase will crash. Crash Bug.afdesign
  6. Sorry Serif, but you have a problem. I originally switched to Affinity because the software I was using (not Adobe) kept crashing. I was therefore delighted to have a programme that just did it's job. Of late however, Affinity is a pain to use. It started when I noticed that refreshing the display was slow and obvious then becoming blocky (grey squares). It has now degenerated to dark images in Develop and then closing in Develop or after progressing to Photo. I've read all the posts on this Blog and tried all the suggestions, pressing Ctrl when opening Affinity, uninstalling graphics card driver, changing driver from Studio to Game Ready, re-installing latest Affinity update, etc., etc. I've turned Tones and Exposure on and off in Develop Asst, and ensured I'm running RGB and it's 'managed. What I've noticed of late is that, since doing the Ctrl-open app, the opening splash screen appears every time that I open Affinity, even if I uncheck the box. I've also noticed that selecting the 'Tones' & 'Exposure Bias' in the Develop Assistant do not appear to make any difference. And, if I do get as far as 'Photo' the image from 'Develop' darkens after a few seconds and then Affinity closes down. Set up is W10, Intel i58600, NVidia 1050Ti, 32GBDDR4 running latest Affinity. All other photo processing software are running perfectly.
  7. I have installed the latest release - 1.8.3 on windows and everything seems OK until I click on the space bar when adding text which completely closes publisher. There is a solution under the "resolved published bugs" folder saying to navigate to %appdata%\Affinity\Publisher\ and rename the 1.0 folder to 1.0 backup, then relaunch the app, but it did not allow me to rename the folder. It says this will be fixed on the next release, but this was published in October 2019, so it doesn't seem to be fixed. Has anyone got a solution to this? I will work on an older software until this is resolved.
  8. Every time I launch AP I get this "Can't connect to Diskstation" error message, regardless whether the Diskstation in not mounted on the iMac . Why is AP looking for this each time, how do I stop it? I'm totally unable to run any batch jobs, even off my iMac HDD because eAP looks for the Diskstation. thought initially I had a server issue but It now apparent its almost certainly AP as I only get this with AP and its everyone I launch it. On launch If I click OK I can continue to work no problem BUT on batch jobs it just crashes. Thanks.
  9. I’m on a relatively recent ipad and latest OS. What gives? Is there a fix in the works or can I get my $$ back?

  11. Hello, I am having severe lockup issues with AP 1.8.3 on Mac OS Catalina 10.15.4. I have a Mac Pro 2013 12-core 64RAM 2TB SSD with plenty of free space. Today alone I have had to force quit 4 times, I send crash reports every time. In Preferences under Performance dialogue, I changed a couple from Auto to Low in hopes that will help resolve at least a little bit, but not sure is changing disk space will help. I do work with multi-layer, large files for compositing and manipulating images. Sometimes, but not always, I will save with history, but this is happening on most all that have more than 4-5 layers, to some degree. The larger the file, the worse the issue. EDIT: If I may update this post, please. I have gone through and cleaned out my background processes reducing them down to the 50% range of CPU usage, which is about normal. I tried again to work in AP and had the same lockups and in my Activity Monitor, it was using 250% of the CPU. I was just trying to transform a layer group of about 4-5 layers, and I did send another crash report. Please advise. Thank you and have a great day.
  12. Text Style changing Problem (macOS Mojave 10.14.6, Affinity Publisher 1.7.1) Hi guys, I have a very bad problem concerning text styles in Publisher: Each time when I want to create a new text style or changing and saving an existing text style itself, Affinity Publisher crashes completely. I had this problem already during the Beta phase and thought the final version would solve the problem, but unfortunately not. I deinstalled and reinstalled Publisher several times, but the error remains. I have NO problems with other programs at all, only Affinity Publisher crushes when working on the text styles... I have installed several third party fonts... but I never had problems with that fact before in macOS. I have no more idea what to change or what to do. Does anybody can help me or has an idea? Best regards, Mac
  13. The crash message pops up and after I click on either yes or No it will crash my program and repeat that over and over again. How would I fix this?
  14. Affinity photo for Ipad Pro 11” has been working on and off, very inconsistent. Starting from this week, the app has been crashing much more and so much of my work has been lost. When I try to return to gallery, or try to save my work it just crashes to my home screen. When I open the app again, it continues from the last autosave. It has been really frustrating, please fix this issue soon!

  17. Hi, I started working on a photo composition again which I worked on some months ago. Last time I used this program before its latest update. But now the app is lagging hard, loads very long when I want to move any object or apply whatever changes, it crashes sometimes and freezes. In result the app becomes pretty much unusable and it’s frustrating. I’m using an iPad Pro 12,9 of the 2nd generation. Are there any fixes in sight or am I forced to get a new iPad now??
  18. Hi, Mine is a tale of woe with a new Mac. It has now had its logic board replaced but when I turned it on I got a "Your Mac has run into a problem" message with a dump report. In the logs there were three reports all from the same time. Two were "proactive event trackers" but the third related to Affinity Publisher. I didn't think Publisher was running at the time. The code is below. Does it mean anything to anyone, please? Regards W —- crash-103018.txt
  19. I find that at least half the time that I attempt to use the selective color adjustment that the app crashes. I have a 3d gen. 12.9 inch IPad Pro.

  21. Hello, Affinity Photo consistently crashes when zooming in. (command +). Very frustrating. Cannot complete my projects. Anyone have similar issues? Help? Running v1.7.3 on macOS. Late 2015 iMac Mojave Thank you.
  22. It began in version 1.72 but even after updating to 1.73 it still occurs. As soon as I try drag and drop any asset onto a page, then Publisher instantly crashes. 11057415BO.afpub
  23. I have a 65 MB Designer file that has started crashing. I was scaling several buttons (created with one of the gold effects). It was made into a symbol, but I couldn't seem to change the symbol and have it affect all buttons across my file. So, I was scaling each button individually with the Transform tool. Upon scaling the 15th button or so, Designer crashed. Subsequently, starting over, it crashed again even sooner. After crashing several times and haveing to redo everything each time, I made just one change, then saved and it crashed. How can I get my file to save, and not crash? Since it's a large file, I'd need to upload via Dropbox to have it checked. Thanks for any help! Karen
