  1. Opening a Canon (.cr2) RAW file (ISO 500) in Affinity Photo (V 1.6.7) results in corners that appear to be burnt out, as though by a bright lamp. The corners are black and then there's a bright white line that bleeds into the photo a bit. This is on an iMac running Mojave 10.14. It doesn't happen with every file. I can't predict when it will happen. The "burnt out" corners only appear when loaded into Affinity. They are not present when the file is viewed in Finder. It persists when I press Develop and are also there after I export to .jpeg. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Hi Affinity Team, I am having a few issues in importing my CR2 RAW files from my Canon 800D Camera. I am using the Apple (Core Image RAW) engine for RAW Files and it causes the images to display like the example picture attached below. I have never had this issue previously before importing images from my Canon 800D Camera and I think it has only started since updating my Macbook Pro to the latest macOS Mojave. I can strangely tho be able to import a Panorama or Stack using those same RAW files and the issue doesn't happen. I can also load images using the Serif Labs Engine with no issues also however it does remove most of the colours from the image for some reason and has so since the beginning on any RAW File. I am not sure if the Issue is Affinity Related or Apple Related and would love this to be fixed or find away to fix it. THANKS!!!
  3. Hello, I've recently purchased AF and it's my first serious image processing software so I'm still learning. However, one thing that has been driving me crazy from day 1 is that AF keeps distorting the RAW images (I use Canon EOS 6D, .cr2 raw files): not only it's visually distorted, it greatly looses in sharpness and I can't get the sharpness back. Here is an example image (files attached): one image (canon.jpeg) was converted from raw to jpeg in a free software with basic functionality (Digital Photo Professional) that comes with Canon cameras, I didn't do any modifications, just conversion. The second photo is the result of developing in AF. In AF I imported the raw file, turned off the lens corrections in Develop Assistant, Raw Engine is Serif Labs, the only one I seem to have, then pressed develop and then exported as jpeg. You can clearly see from the attached files how much is the AF result is of inferior quality: it's not sharp, the thin grass has turned into a strange mish-mash and the image is distorted ("bend" outwards?) I created a gif just to demonstrate it, the reddish image is the result from AF. How can I prevent AF from distorting the image like this? The experience of working with this software has been extremely frustrating so far as I seem to spend most of the time trying to fix the mess that AF makes of the image rather than doing the post-processing I want. I'd appreciate any help with this!
  4. In October I replaced my trusty Canon 40D with a Canon 77D and I bought Affinity as an alternative Photoshop, as my version would not open the Canon 77D raw files without a purple layer. I've not really used Affinity in processing RAW images until these last few days whilst I've being on holiday for the festive period. Now I've noticed there seem to have an issue when importing the Raw files into Affinity, all the colour seems to be missing, or washed out. Even the histograms are different. I'm using the camera to take both RAW and Large JPG images. I've attached some images to show what I mean. I've looked at other threads but all the things it suggests I've not being able to make a difference to the RAW import. Any help on this issue would be greatly received. Im more than happy using the JPG's but I would like to edit the RAW images with the colours in which they were actually shot.
  5. Hello everyone! I take the photos with Canon 6D, when I open the raw files with windows 10 photo app and Irfan view, everything goes well. the color is just fine. but when I open it with affinity photo, it shows more red and color bands between bright and dark parts. can anybody make an explanation? I attached 2 photos here, be aware that the model has some fat granule on the face this may cause discomfort.
  6. When importing CR2 (Canon RAW from 5Dmkii) files, they often look very different. In the case of blue colours, the highlights have a very strong pink/purple cast to them. This is quite a contrast to when using Canon's Digital Photo Professional, and Apple RAW preview tools, where they maintain the expected colors Note: I've already switched to using Apples RAW engine. It did not resolve the issue. I've attached a small screen-grab to highlight the issues, along with a CR2 file that clearly exhibits the issue. I'm using version 1.6.7. IMG_0439.CR2
  7. Hello everyone, I’m a beginner photographer and I got some problems using this app. I transferred my raw photos taken on my old trusty 6D to my iPad Pro (iOS 11) and the original iPad photo app is showing a huge difference compared to the imported image in Affinity photo. I think the problem is because I set my camera to increase sharpness & saturation however the raw file didn’t reveal those modifications done by my camera. I have tried to adjust HSL, Curve, exposure and so many things but I just can’t get the color right. I really want that color, that feeling shown in my camera as well as in the origional iPad photo app. Is there any solution such as adding the preset or something? Thank you so much for the help! As seen below, the raw image is so fade out because of the exposure issue. After adjustment I can get some pinkish color but definitely not this darken red color.
  8. Hi As I drag a RAW file from Photos app (Macbook, High Sierra) to Affinity it apparently converts it to JPEG, as Affinity doesn't open the Develop Persona. When I try to open raw file from File -> Open, I cannot find any of those files. When I open them in Photos app, they are in CR2 format and I can edit them normally in Photos apps own editor. I've already tried to change the RAW engine. My camera is Canon 700D What should I try next? Eetu

CR2-File from Canon 6D Mark II is pink

I bought Affinity Photo because my Photoshop couldn't handle de CR2-files made with my new Canon 6D Mark II. But as soon as I open the CR2 in Affinity Photo, it becomes all pink. Why is that and how can I fix it? Thanks for your help.
  10. Hi there, I just purchased affinity and imported RAW (CR2) files but it looks like Affinity doesn't support it. The images displayed on Affinity are pinkish in colour. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the Canon 6D Mark II I had recently bought. I wouldn't think it's the SD card because that would save what type of files we select. There's no issues importing jpeg files. Does anyone have a solution to this? Thanks in advance. Nick
  11. Hi, I have tried several times to open CR2 files taken with my Canon 5D MK IV. Unfortunately 99% of the pictures I am opening are not aligned and seem to be corrupted when opening with the Affinity Photo 1.6.6 app on my MAC. The picture seems to be opening in different rectangular parts that are not aligned and making an overall pic... As the problem is difficult to explain I have attached a picture and hope anyone can help me to get this resolved. I can handle JPG or TIFF files without a problem. Looks like the pronblem also occures when opening DNG files. So has perhaps something to do with RAW material??? I have tried HDR stack with CR2 and DNG files but non are working and always result in I this corrupted pics. I hope somebody can help me with this one :-/ Regards Tom
  12. HI Team I am not sure of what the issue is but I am unable to open Raw images. It opens like below. I tried opening multiple Raw files but the same result. When tried opening Jpeg it opened absolutely fine Can some one help me, please?
  13. Hi, I'm interested in buying this software for ipad. I've read that you need to use icloud to import photos into RAW. Is this still true or has it been solved with the new versions? I would like to import directly from SD. Thank you!
  14. Hey, when I try to open a .CR2 File, all the se4ttings are set to Default. For example a monochrome is colored. How can I solve it or is it a bug in Affinity? Best regards, Christian IMG_0699.CR2 IMG_0926.CR2
  15. Hello, I am unable to open CR2 raw files from google save (grayed out). I am also unable to save .afphoto files on google drive (affinity app crashes every time). Sending a copy of .afphoto from google drive to affinity photo also fails. The app also crashes when I try and export a .jpeg to google drive (I found a workaround using the share button the export screen though). Found Bug: The presence of a / in the file name crash the app to crash from exporting. Any guidance would be appreciated. Using Affinity Photo 1.6.2 and iPad Pro 10.5 (2017). iOS 10.3.2
  16. Well I came to work today and was pleasantly surprised that I cant open raw image format in affinity without getting a green screen of death. Does anyone have a similar problem and if, what did you discover the problem to be?
  17. I am using a 2012 MacBookPro with OS X 10.8.5 I do not want to update my OS as I am then forced to use Adobe Cloud LR and PS, which I do not want to do. I am trying to move away from LR6 and CS6 and am working more and more on AP. My one challenge with AP 1.5.2 is that my Fujifilm (RAF) and Canon (CR2) RAW files load very slowly in AP. It takes approximately 35 seconds to open a RAF file, and a further 15 seconds to get it into the Develop Persona. A RAW file opens in about 15 seconds and another 5 seconds for Develop Persona. The CR2 file opens immediately in CS6, so it cannot be the Macbook. I cannot open the RAF file in SC6 as my version of SC6 do not recognise the RAF files. Any suggestions to help speed up the process will be very helpful and will be greatly appreciated.

    CR2 files crash

Hello, I recently updated my Affinity Photo to version 1.5.1. Now when I open CR2 files, the program automatically quits unexpectedly. I never had this issue with the older version. I already tried resetting and reinstalling the application. I use a Macbook Pro 15 inch, IOS 10.8.5 Thank you
  20. I just bought a new 5D mark 4, tried took some raw photos today. However, when I opened these photos with Affinity photo, they can't show normally while they can show normally in Google drive and Lightroom. So, I guess this is a software issue. I am using Affinity 1.4.3, anyone also has this problem and how should I solve it? Thanks!
  21. Since I installed Affinity Designer I have been having trouble with my Mac. It keeps saying that my printer is offline (its not and works fine for all other devices) I have tried everything I can think of to get it working from the Mac with no luck. Also, when I connect my Canon camera to import RAW files into iPhoto the Mac is now telling me that the files are CR2 files and cannot be recognised by the Mac, which is strange as up until now there has never been a problem importing these files. I'm guessing that its AD causing the problem. I had a trial version of AD which expired and I can't uninstall that, each time I go to open an AD file it automatically launches the trial version and takes me to the Affinity website to buy the full version (which I have done.) I can open the full version though. Your thoughts folks? What's going on?

Support for Canon G1X Mark ii

Greetings. I realize that your supported camera-types section lists the Canon G1X Mark ii as "supported," but I would like to suggest that may not be true. When I import a RAW file into Photo it displays the un-fished un-cropped RAW file, suggesting Photo does not, in fact, support the format. Thank you for looking into this. My G1X is my daily shooter; not having Photo support it would be a big setback. I tried uploading the file here but I got an "You aren't permitted to upload this kind of file error," perhaps as a final and gratuitous blow to my enthusiasm? Fred
