  1. Hello All, We were tasked with designing a large 4x8 business sign. The print company was asking for an AI, EPS, SVG or PDF for printing. STILL, Affinity Designer cannot export to AI. (shame on you) So, we exported the other formats. Unfortunately, all of the exports contained different anomalies depending on the export method. How in the heck can Serif expect to compete with Adobe and Corel, if their software is not compatible with those products, and exporting other formats is so bad? We really like using the Affinity software, and own all three products.
  2. Suggest being able to import/export Corel Draw/Paint files. Corel Draw/Painter is used quite extensively in the engraving and sign making industry. Being able to directly open or import/export into affinity on the iPad or on a Mac would benefit many who prefer to use iOS and macOS.
  3. As you can see in the attached image I am trying to figure out how to keep the arc of a shape of line when deleting nodes. On the left is the Corel Draw X8 example and on the right is the Affinity Design example. Is this possible? Corel Draw can do. Is there a way to do this in AD? Is there some type of setting that can be turned off or on? Please help. Thank you.
  4. When I had to give up Corel Draw (a Mac OS upgrade issue) the thing I most missed is that it has Boolean And, Not and Or blend modes. I figured out how to do some totally unique things with these. If you introduced these I'm pretty sure AD would be the only other vector software to have them.

  6. Have just purchased a license for Win (works faster in a VM than Mac). Looks promising, thank you for that. Too bad no Linux support in your plans. Some suggestions, if I may. (01) Open file -> preview (01.b) Resize preview area (02) Simpler vector manipulations; now there are: (a) pen, (b) pencil, (c) brush, (d) node, (e) corner - i.e. Five (five!) different tools to do something that could be done with just two - (A) free hand (B) node editor. THAT could have been some major usability improvement. It
  7. I had been using Corel Draw to create maps of my local woodland, and I decided it was about time I converted them to Designer. This post reports how it went, what worked and what didn't. I exported the CDR as a pdf, then opened it in Affinity. The appearance was OK, but some lettering did not look quite right. In the layers panel, all the various objects in the cdr file were there as separate layers, but there were none of the original groupings. Indeed, some of the grouped objects were separated by other objects. Some of the objects seem to have been split into two or more segments.
  8. Hi! New Mac user here! Before I buy Affinity I would like to know if it is possible to open, import and edit .CDR files.. Thank you!
  9. Hello everyone, As a user of Corel Draw, there’s a couple of little features/tricks that I’d like to see in Affinity (because I’m switching). The following are really more “tricks” than features (at least in the strict sense). I added gifs so you know exactly what I’m talking about. 1. When dragging an object, right-click to copy it. This one is a life saver. I use it all the time. I drag using the left-click, and when you see the + sign it's because I right-clicked. 2. Right-clicking a color sets it as stroke. And if you really need to right-click the color to access options o
  10. Multiple pages, not just multiple art boards. The art boards are great and can be used as pages, but it then requires a lot of scrolling or zooming in and out. Here is what I envision being able to do. I open the software, grab my stylis pad and start sketching. Now, instead of creating a new layer, I create a new page with some keyboard combination of some sort. (for example, perhaps "Shift+Alt+N" for a New Alternate Page? ) At this point, I now resume sketching. After a while, I want to review what I have sketched and so, this time I hit "Shift+F9" (because F9 is what apple uses
