I'm not entirely sure if this is a bug or a feature in Affinity Designer. But every time I drag a shape while holding command in order to copy the shape (while moving it) and then undoing that action, I've noticed that Affinity doesn't really undo that action. It still leaves a copy of that shape on top of the previous shape. For example, I command drag a shape in order to copy and move it. After undoing that action, one would think the shape is gone but then it's not. This isn't the case in illustrator and it's always throwing me off because I end up with multiple copies of the shape on top of each other. Any help or comment appreciated. Thanks!

Is it possible to copy gradients in Affinity Designer? How would you do it? If I wanted a repeating gradient to occur, it would be very time-consuming to individually create the gradient for many different objects.

When I paste text into a text box created with the Frame Text Tool, the glyphs render with a white background rather than appearing with a transparent background. The white background only appears behind the glyphs themselves, like a highlight in a word processor (see image). This seems to happen only when pasting text in from the clipboard - not when entering text directly. I have just installed the updated Affinity 1.5.1. I'm not sure if this bug is new with the update, or was also present in previous versions. Andrew text-background-bug.tiff

Undoing an option+drag copy undoes the drag but does not undo the copy
mcpete posted a topic in (Pre 1.7) Bugs on Mac
Hi, I been work on a big project with affinity designer for Mac and have noticed I'd have duplicate objects that I couldn't understand how they got created. I finally figured it out. When I select something, then option+drag it to make a duplicate, I get my duplicate object, but if I undo that function, AD just moves the new copy to the position of the original, it's not actually undoing the copying, just the dragging. If I undo again, then the copy gets deleted. I think this is a bug as the drag+option to create a copy is one step (two things happen at the same time) not two separate steps. So undoing should just delete the new copy entirely. -
Copy a Node/Segment, or a Selection of Them
pbass posted a topic in Older Feedback & Suggestion Posts
Love to be able to copy single nodes, line segments, or a selection of nodes – including the exact geometry of any curve handles – and then paste it/them into the front node an open curve. With the option of pasting its mirror version – vertical, horizontal, or both. It is very hard to manually make a curve exactly match another one. Repeatability is crucial for precise work. Snapping control handles (when they arrive) will sure help, but copy/paste of any of a curve's (or shape's) selected bits would be supremo! You can easily copy an entire curve/shape, but not parts of one. You can do the former, delete what you don't need, and then attach the bits you need; but that's a long way round. I apologize if you've heard any or all of this before (and please correct me if any of this is already possible). Oh, and as Sven Kalkschmidt already suggested, the functionality of the following Illustrator plugin looks amazingly useful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpOaC5XGyZU Thanks for your attention, and keep up the awesome programming, Serif/Affinity!- 3 replies
