  1. When you right-click on the Toolbar, a menu appears, where you can edit its items. Please add this function (edit items as in the menu View\Customize Tools...) to the Tools Panel. Thank you
  2. Dear Affinity team, I ran into an inconsistency when navigating text with cursor keys. Reproduce * Place cursor inside any text * Press OPTION + CURSOR LEFT/RIGHT * Native MacOS: jumps word by word left/right * Publisher: narrows down word/character space * Expectation would be to make use of muscle memory from MacOS and use the same keyboard shortcut within Publisher, eg use SHIFT + OPTION + CURSOR LEFT/RIGHT (or any other) * Same for CMD + CURSOR LEFT/RIGHT which under MacOS is used for line wise jump, in Publisher used for word wise jump. System * MacOS 10.14.6 * Macbook Pro 2014 * Publisher 1.9 * No other issues encountered Would appreciate if this could be changed in the future. Thank you.
  3. In Layer Effects Dialog (fx) is in several places to enter color using the color box. In Outer/Inner Shadow/Glow and Colour Overlay is box with rounded corner and aligned with other settings - fine. In Outline is Label and box completely out. In Bevel/Emboss is boxs without rounded corner, everyone is otherwise big, misaligned. In 3D is box for Light source OK, but boxs for Specular and Ambient colour is misaligned with other settings. Ambient colour box is under Ambient slider - fine. But why Specular colour box is not under Specular slider? These are trivia, but it does not affect to the user very well. Thanks.
  4. Consistent behavior wanted pleased What works as expected and how it should be done Add Global colour - you are presented with a dialog with an active cursor in the input field and you name the colour as the first thing Issues Select Rename palette - a dialog appears but there is no cursor in the input field Select Add application palette and it is created as Unnamed x - you have to rename it (through the tiny studio menu) and the dialog that appears... you guessed it.. has no active cursor Why is the first letter in so many words like Document capitalized? I gave up highlighting
  5. As found out in this question over in the Q&A forum, Publisher does not support an equivalent to what InDesign calls "Object styles". However, to produce quality output that is consistent, this is a mandatory must-have -- styling would otherwise be so much more tedious and error-prone.
  6. Since I've already expanded a lot on the subject on my last post, I'll keep it short and to the point: Affinity apps almost completely disregard the macOS system-wide option “Full Keyboard Access: In windows and dialogues, press Tab to move keyboard focus between: All controls”, in the Keyboard prefpane. In fact, they don't even honour the alternative and default “Text boxes and lists only” on all places, which would include the very useful input fields on many different palettes. There are issues on important dialog boxes such as “New Document”, and the only palettes where fields are properly addressable via tabbing are, AFAIK, the Transform palette, and only partially so. Some allow for tabbing between one or two items, and all of them, regardless of the number of fields, drop the user into the “Tab to hide the Studio” behaviour, instead of cycling back to the first field like in Adobe CC. This behaviour is, for lack of a nicer term, undesirable and unintuitive, and I could also reproduce it in the Windows beta of Publisher; seeing how I can also reproduce it in the MAS versions of Photo and Designer, I'm willing to bet that it's also reproducible in the release-quality Windows versions of those as well. I also noticed input field and UI control ordering inconsistencies between the Mac and the Windows versions of Publisher. I am aware that fixing this would require an overhaul (or at least an internal review process) of six different codebases across two different OSes (though the fact that some palettes and dialogues are rather similar across apps, so there should at least be some economies of scale at work there), and introduce further overhead in your development process from now on (because it does indeed require a change in philosophy, as tabbing has up until now been added just as an afterthought and only in the places where we specifically asked for it, instead of everywhere, organically and by default, following a predictable scheme and behaviour), but this is yet another thing which I believe you also must do in order to be taken seriously by design professionals who actually use your apps for UI and UX work; you must lead by example, because many of your users will know a lot about that very subject. For the same reason, Adobe was the butt of all jokes for the better part of a decade on account of their lack of polish and consistency (there's even a Tumblr page called “Adobe Gripes” [formerly “Adobe UI Gripes”] dedicated to their misgivings: https://adobegripes.tumblr.com ), but even they got their act somewhat together as of late (there are still inconsistencies between different apps of their suite, but at least most of these nitty-gritty UX issues are pretty much solved by now). Seeing how you're still in the beginning of your expansion in the market, and only have 3 apps in two platforms to contend with, please take the opportunity to polish all of them before the arguably momentous 1.7 release, which will mark the completeness of the originally announced Affinity 1.x suite. All eyes will be, then and once more, on you, and some reviewers will possibly go through all those details (maybe even making brand-new reviews of the original first two apps), and call them all unpolished or unfinished. I know I would, because that's the way they feel, at least on this major point in particular.
  7. I’d love to see better consistency within the Affinity apps. Small things like the order of buttons make a real difference. Almost everwhere, the cancel button is first and then the confirm button is on the right. Unless you press Save A Copy. (See buttons) on iPad I so quickly skip around the interface because it is so intuitive, but a small change like this can throw me. Seems small, but makes a big difference. My other UI gripe is some buttons are either in strange places or don’t make sense. 1. Why do I have to close a document to save it it place? I only have save a copy when the document is open. I’d like to be able to quickly save. (I’ve had documents crash before and I’ve lost the data because I didn’t hit save ever. Kinda my fault, but I think this could help) 2. Why can I lock and hide layers in two places? This is not a bad thing but feels confusing. Means I forget where certain settings are and doesn’t help set a precedent for where I should find certain types of settings. 3. Why is rasterise not in the generic layer menu? (And can the layer menu not auto hide after rasterising? Or should I pin it to stop this behaviour?) 4. When resizing the canvas, can we have the nice transform square from the transform menu rather than the text-based popout? I know my right from left, but that square is so much easier to understand and edit Note: the first four pictures are related to the cancel/action button order These small gripes make me sound incompetent but I’m not! Haha. I say these because I love the apps and want them to be better.
  8. Hi All, I am an experienced LR user, with some GIMP experience migrating to AP, reason I say so, I am not a experienced PS user and an AP beginner, so I may miss some of the concepts, however I have observed the following issues, I can do a little help with in my understanding. First AP team great job and product! Keep up the good work, I really like working with AP and comments below are meant in a constructive way. 1) Personas, great concept, why is there no Panorama Persona and no Stack Persona? Both develop an image and end up in the Photo Persona, I tried both with RAW files and are unable to use the RAW Persona. I would AP expect to create a Panorama or Stack in RAW for development. 2) RAW and Photo Persona, after applying development in RAW and working in the Photo Persona, going back to RAW seems to leave me with the developed picture, my original development settings are visible in the picture, the sliders back to 0. So if I make adjustments I develop an developed RAW. 3) Some of the functions are available in different Persona's and menus were others are not, to give some examples: Photo Persona, perspective correction and distortion filters, great for easy access, I would expect these in the Liquify Persona. Organisation and grouping of adjustments, filters, live filters and functions, I can not see the logic of how they are grouped. I understand their operations on either pixel layers, adjustment layers, why 2 sets of filter (destructive and non destructive (live)). Not all Filers are Live Filter (or is this part of the road map and fase out destructive filters?) I fail to understand the order of the live filters in the menu, group picture optimisation and effects (artistic) they seem to be everywhere. What is the difference between the perspective correction on the tool menu and the perspective live filter. I guess the Layer Adjustments from the Layer menu are the same as from the dialogues on the right side (adjustment tab next to layer tab with the adjustment previews (Cool!) and the icon on the bottom of the dialogue (half B/W circle) the layer effects can only be found in 1 place, next to the adjustments Fx, not even on right click layer......) Last example, there are more.. why is Lighting in the filter menu.....? it is a destructive pixel layer tool and should be in the tool box. I think every user has his view and working and I would opt for a Personal Persona ;-) where one can configure not only the toolbar and the studio but also the top menu options. I understand that Affinity want to make everybody happy but I get the Martini commercial feeling : anytime anyplace anywhere. Cheers, Jeroen
  9. Choose a tool from the toolbar that comes with a dialogue, for example the crop tool. Then you should be able to cancel the tool by pressing the ESC key and the cmd-. (dot) Apple-shortcut.
  10. Dear (epic) people at Affinity, I have a feature request regarding consistency, example: when using the "transform" tab, you can easily adjust sizes by hovering over the options and scrolling up/down — could you implement this in the text tool as well? Possibly in every dropdown option that entails numeric options. Thank you. Kind regards, Jo
