  1. Hello All, Im having a difficult time with brush selection. How can I copy pixel brush styles to the vector brush styles? Additionally, when editing between vector brushes and pixel brushes. It is inherently impossible to figure out as the user that vector and pixel brushes carry the same functionality. Since navigating between vector and pixel personas, do carry some functionally with the same tools. It would help if the assistant or some message displays that there is some limitations when trying to make a change to a shape with the wrong brush option. I mean, color, stroke and fill all seem to work across personas and do not require an additional gui to display to change properties. Thanks,
  2. Hi guys, i tried opening a complex Photoshop file which basically is a resume organized in 4 pages with multiple layers each. The file is definitely big (300mb) but the problem seems to have to do with compatibility between the file created in Photoshop and how AP will manage the same objects. In particular, there’s a smart object in PS which is a photo that should be visible only as a portion covered by shapes in other layers. Unfortunately the photo is not visible at all unless i re-organize the layers but obviously that brings to losing the original order of layers and the picture is totally visible instead of being shown as a portion only. In PS everything is working perfectly.
  3. Hey, just a quick question. There are some mobile laptops/tablets that support being on a 4G LTE network but run using an ARM-based processor. Are there any plans to have Affinity Photo and Designer be compatible with that type of processor since it is more mobile than a typical laptop?
  4. I've been using Affinity Designer and really enjoyed it. The problem is that I am unable to create usable files. The kind of work that I do requires a layer of grouped die lines to be placed over a layer of art. The manufacturers I work with need to be able to rearrange the dies and corresponding artwork. The manufacturers all use Illustrator. When I export files as .PDF or .EPS, they open in Illustrator with every piece grouped together, in a single layer, within a clipping path. I can't submit files like that. SVG's preserve the layer structure, within another layer, but the dimensions are way off. To be fair, I am aware that these problems are not unique to AD. I've tried separating out the layers in Inkscape with the same result. Another colleague creates his die lines in AutoCAD, but still uses Illustrator to set up files for output. Is there a legal reason for this lack of compatibility? If so, how come SVG's almost work? Is there some sort of workaround? Any plan to change this? I think anyone who works with die lines; packaging, for example, would have the same issue.
  5. I have a Ugee pen tablet (UG-2150), and I'm pretty bummed with the issues I've been having with it. Yesterday, the pen stopped working all together. As I tried updating the drivers, I was told that there is no tablet connected. And this stinks, because I have a lot drawings I need to do. The monitor is working, but the pen is not. I finally decided to leave Ugee, and I am considering perhaps getting a Huion instead. For my workflow, I am interested in getting a pen tablet monitor, not a graphic tablet. Of course, I searched the forum for similar issues, but before considering this purchase, does any know how a Huion pen tablet monitor works with the Affinity products? Affinity Designer is the main program I use. It would be horrible to see if there are compatibility issues.
  6. I have Affinity Design and Affinity Photo in Win10. For portability, I want to buy AD and AP for a new Ipad, that I need to choose and buy soon. My main use of the Ipad will be to use the Affinity software. I need to choose between the new Ipad Pro 11 inch or 12.9 inch (with the new pen). But I noticed that in your compatibility list the new 11 inch Ipad is missing. 11 inch will be a bad choice? The 12.9 inch will be better to use AD and AP?
  7. A rather unexpected bad surprise for me on this! I was dismayed (after the facts) to see the huge file produced by Affinity Photo. I performed a search, didn't get an answer... Has no one raised questions about this so far? I did nothing weird or special that I am aware of, processed a Fujifilm X-Pro1 raw file to the best of my liking as I usually do with ACR. If nothing more than that, I stop there and just keep the raw and the XMP sidecar, about 26MB (for the example given). If I need to keep a PSD for whatever reason, I open Photoshop. If only for editing there, when finished I save as PSD: 96MB or so with only one layer. It can become much more when adding layers, or convert to smart object before launching a NIK plugin for instance, but that´s not the issue here. My grief is about what usually is ´only´ a 96MB PSD file (almost 4x the raw´s size already!). So I processed a sample first in ACR. I did not need to open it in Photoshop, but for the sake of the comparison I did. Ended with a 96MB file as expected. I then launched Affinity Photo with the intention to produce more or less the same result. I ended with a 218MB (!) AFPHOTO file. I didn't see anything special at all. So I did nothing else, exported the same as PSD to see what that would give. Shocking result there: 293MB file for the single one background layer!!! Just to make sure (I don´t know what could be hidden), I tried flattening before export, no change; also merge visible layer, same result as well. In fact, I suppose these did nothing a all, rightfully so. I have about 25,000 photographs, the vast majority only saved as raw + sidecar. That takes about 600GB on a 2TB external HD right now. There also is a 3TB TimeMachine for them and my internal HD... So I was thinking: if I need to organise more than 8 times the current diskspace used for the images alone (or worse), the comparison with Photoshop becomes quite a bit different, on the expenses involved alone. Imagine: for the same comfort and setup as I have now, I would need at least 16TB. Not to mention another even larger system for TimeMachine as well! I wonder, are the developers aware of this? If so, also working on it? I am now a bit afraid of comparing a picture from a 38MB raw file (my other current camera, an older DSLR).
  8. Hi Serif I've been using Pageplus more or less since it was born. I have been loyal to Serif & recommended it to many friends. When all Affinity products are eventually integrated, you deserve to wipe Adobe [arrogant & unhelpful] & MS Publisher [counter intuitive] off the map. However, many of us have lots of .ppp files, Pageplus logos, etc. It would be a major mistake if Pageplus files, logos etc were not supported to import into the final version of Affinity Publisher. I note you have now closed that thread. I hope your programmers are even now working on including this in the program or as a plugin.
  9. There is a jubilee on Design Cuts. They sell a logo creation kit: Essential Branding & Identity Kit for Photoshop and Illustrator which says: there are also png files, that should work, I think. Maybe it is also a general question regarding Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Illustrator CS4 Thanks for help.
  10. So I just downloaded the Beta version of Publisher only to discover that unlike A. Designer and Photo that can open .eps and all image formats, this is totally incompatible with indesign files, which sort of defeats the point of having an alternative that not only exports but also allows you to open files from similar programs. Now I am aware that this is the beta version and there's a lot of work behind it but, is there any way to make indesign files compatible? I always work with templates I get form places like creative market and it is fair to assume that the world is not going to start producing templates specifically for APublisher any time soon, so any ideas?
  11. Will Afinity Publisher be able to open Page Plus files?
  12. I've just encountered what appears to be a pretty major compatibility bug between Affinity Photo for iPad and Affinity Photo for MacOS/Windows. I created an illustration on the iPad, and then sent the file to a collaborator on Windows. He said the file looked completely different from the comps I'd been sending, and when I loaded the file in Affinity Photo for MacOS, I saw what he was talking about: the way I had used alpha masks had completely changed. As best I can tell, the iPad version fades mask transparency against opaque, while the desktop versions fade against transparent!
  13. I am of course very excited to get Affinity Designer into my workflow. But, there is the issue of round-tripping with Adobe. I know that Designer can output in many different formats. But can it output a file that is openable in Adobe illustrator? Is there that degree of backward compatibility if it is necessary?
  14. Recently I have come across some discussions about PDF from Affinity Designer incompatibility with Adobe CC 2018. Here is a link for the post on Adobe Forum: https://forums.adobe.com/message/10182519#10182519 I have stopped using Adobe except sometime converting files files for our clients with my old Adobe CS6 and Illustrator CS6 opens pdf from Affinity Designer perfectly. I am wondering if anyone else is also facing such incompatibility issue? It's really sad if Adobe has done it internationally
  15. Hi, I just bought the new ipad2018 6th gen. Does affinity photo work on it? on the AppStore I read only “works on ipad2017” nothing more.. i don’t Wanna spend 21€ and then find out it don’t work ahah Thank you
  16. I’m on iOS 11.1 on iPad Pro 10.5. Not sure if I should update to 11.2.6, b/c of all of the reported issues. There seem to be some pretty dramatic screw-ups in that update. But the App Store won’t let me purchase or download Affinity unless I’m on 11.2.6. Is there a way for me to download an older version for iPad that’ll work on 11.1? I’m really interested in this app! Thanks in advance!
  17. Doesn't respect the -15% Saturation Adjustment value I entered in Affinity Photo when I export to PSD Editability preset.
  18. Hey guys! terrific job with the updates. Love the software...use it on a regular basis. One thing I love about affinity is that I got to make a really good combo with apple motion. That way...I was able to free myself from Adobe in every way (no more photoshop and no more after effects). The thing is that since I've updated to affinity photo 1.6.7 PSD export from photo to Apple Motion is broken . I've tried the 3 different modes and no luck. It just imports an empty canvas. That's sad because PSD is the only format that I can use because it does support layers (when it use to open them..anyways). I've also tried to export in EXR format (layered) but I got an error message saying I couln't. I know it's this affinity 1.6.7 because this issue is new to this version...it worked perfectly with the previous version. Can you guys give me a hand? I promise I´ll post a youtube video on how to do motion graphics with affinity photo and motion if you solve this for me ASAP. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Best regards. Ben.
  19. Hello Everyone and Happy New Year. I am using AD side by side with CC in plan of total replacement in the near future, but I ran into some troubles when importing Ai files in AD and exporting from AD for later import in Ai, as my colleagues use Ai, what is the ideal export configuration that I can use so my colleagues using Ai can import without any problems, and what is the ideal Ai configuration that my colleagues can use so I can import in AD without any issues, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  20. Hi, please is Wacom Intuos Pro FULLY compatible with AP for Win? I mean including ExpressKey and all other functions. Want to know whether the investment is useful for me Thanks for info Jindra
  21. Hi. Adding PaintShop Pro compatible layer blending may incentivize / remove a roadblock for those of us looking to switch from Corel's PaintShop Pro. Paintshop's default "HSL" blend modes luminosity, color, hue, and saturation (often more useful than the "Legacy" modes) are not compatible (different results) with the Affinity/Photoshop (or virtually any program's) "HSL" blend modes of the same name ... only the ones labeled Legacy are. This would help those of us locked into Paintshop.
  22. Can one interchange AD work between the Mac and Windows Ad programs? Is there any problems when copying a layer created in Windows into the same doc on a Mac? Someone is helping me in a complex map book project with tons of graphics. He only has AD in Windows while my AD work is on a Mac. I do not some production problem when it comes to outputting the hi-level PDFs and sending them to the printer for publication.
  23. Hello to everyone! I am going to buy LENOVO MiiX 510-12ISK, 8GB, 256GB, 4G, Windows 10 Professional 64. I will use it for creating vector illustrations in Affinity Designer with Lenovo Active Pen. The question is: will it work well? Maybe anybody has tested this device with Affinity Designer? By the way, I couldn't find Lenovo Active Pen in my country (I live in Russia), only on Aliexpress - should I order the pen there?
  24. Cette publication en français Este post en español Questo post in italiano この投稿は日本語です 这个帖子用中文 Esta publicação em português Это сообщение на русском Dieser Beitrag auf Deutsch (Correct at time of writing) As detailed at the top of our App Store description - Affinity Photo for iPad supports iPad Pro, iPad Air 2 and iPad (early 2017). Please note that older iPads are not supported The Apple App Store hardware "Compatibility" list is automatically generated, and may list some iPad models that do not meet our minimum specification (2GB RAM, advanced 'Metal' acceleration and a minimum 9.7-inch screen). Currently Apple do not allow us to change that information to display the right list of iPads that we support, so it also includes unsupported models (of iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, Mini 3 & Mini 4). Serif would like our App store entry to say this list. "Compatibility: Requires iOS 10.3 or later. Compatible with iPad Air 2, iPad Air 2 Wi-Fi + Cellular, 12.9-inch iPad Pro, 12.9-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi + Cellular, 10.5-inch iPad Pro, 10.5-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi + Cellular, 9.7-inch iPad Pro, 9.7-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi + Cellular, iPad Wi-Fi (5th generation), and iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular (5th generation)." We have requested that Apple modify the store submission process for this to avoid lower spec hardware being listed. If you have purchased the iPad version and do not own a compatible iPad you will need to contact App Store Support staff to request a refund here https://getsupport.apple.com/. then choose product iPad, In there choose "iOS and Applications" and select "App does not work as expected". Then on the next screen choose a method, for example "Report a Problem" Alternatively you can use their (English) contact form https://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html Serif suggest that you use this reason when you request a refund : “Affinity Photo does not work on my model of iPad. The iPad App Store 'compatibility' section suggests that my iPad model is supported by this software, but the minimum specification for "Affinity Photo for iPad" is an A8 GPU or above and 9.7 inch screen or above. Due to the fact that the store submission process does not have any way to exclude my model I did not know it would not work before buying. Serif also say that this iPad App Store limitation has been acknowledged by Apple”.
  25. I just downloaded the Affinity app since my iPad Air is listed in the compatibility list. Once I paid and downloaded it, it now tells me that it isn't compatible. Do you give refunds because of false advertising?
