  1. Hei, I wanted to start working in Affinity apps (all three), but encountered a serious problem right from the start: colours don't match. The ones on the working space in Affinity are clearly desaturated while after exporting they visibly gain saturation. Adobe, previously used by me, also displays nice saturated colours. I have everywhere set the sRGB profile, except my Eizo monitor (from which screenshots), which has been calibrated with Spyder and has it's own profile. Surprisingly though, when I switch the monitor to sRGB, the colour difference is even bigger. Can you please help? Or at least tell me if/where I can switch of display colour conversion in Affinity programs. Regards, Kati
  2. I’m showing a client designs for a logo by screen sharing using zoom but when I send her mockups she is seeing a different colour from what she sees in zoom. I’ve tried viewing pdfs, jpgs and png files on various screens in different software and I’m seeing the same colour with slight variations as you would expect. When I show her the pdfs on my iPad using zoom she sees the same colour as when I show her Affinity on my iPad. She really wants the colour she sees on zoom. I’m using a Pantone and have all the details for that Pantone. I realise this isn’t really an affinity issue but this is the first logo I’ve designed using Affinity for iPad so I don’t know how close the Pantones match to print. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to see what the client is seeing and give them a closer colour match?
  3. Hi, I have group of objects (or images) underlayed with another colour object. Then I add pixel mask with gradient pixels to this group and leave the default blend mode on "passthrough" for the group. The result of colour mixing is weird. See my screenshot. The expected result appears with "normal" blend mode on this group with pixel mask. Is this normal, or is it bug? I don't understand what kind of math is behind it, but I would expect the same normal result with the "passthrough" blend mode too.
  4. I would love to see Affinity products supporting HKS colour systems for printing on coated and uncoated papers, same way as Pantone colours are built-in into applications. The systems are used by many printers, naming just few in UK: Saxo Print, Mixam, FlyerAlarm and many others around Europe. I use HKS at work, but must translate colours into CMYK. It would be really helpful to support these colour schemes (HKS-K, HKS-N). HKS has an app that allows to add HKS-K (coated) and HKS-N (uncoated) to Adobe applications automatically. If not built-in schemes, than maybe this would be a good approach? HKS is also cheaper than Pantone for designers (colour fans and colour tables) and for printers. HKS also include gold and silver inks.
  5. Hey guys, I can't seem to find a way to convert process colours to spot in Affinity Publisher Beta. Not quite sure if there is a way yet. When I'm doing a print job that has a die-line, perf, fold line, etc, I usually set them up as a spot colour. In InDesign I usually convert one of the colours (either cyan, magenta, yellow, black, or whatever) from Color Type: Process to Color Type: Spot and then assign a name to each (like die-line). Is there a way to do something like that in Affinity Publisher at the moment? Thanks!
  6. I am new to Affinity Publisher. I need to place white text on coloured images and objects but, nowhere in the colour selections can I find white. I have tried the colour picker but even when I sample a white page, the colour picker colour shows as light yellow. Also, if I copy and paste an image which contains white, the white changes to light yellow. Please advise.

Hello, I recently noted that when I import some (not all) RAW photos and hit the "Develop" button, some weird artifacts have occurred and are very noticeable even after the export at max quality. If I do the exact same process on AP on Mac, the export is perfectly clean and without any weird colours or artifacts. I’ve attached an example of photo that looks good when in AP and changes when exported to JPG. On the right side of the screenshot, there is the exported picture opened on the floating window of Apple Photo. The photo was shot with a Nikon D7000. Thanks for your help! EDIT: after re-installing the app on the iPad it seems to work perfectly and no noise or artifacts can be spotted on the same RAW files I was testing. What's the reason for this?

Hello I set it in: Document Setting / Color / Color Profile / Adobe RGB (1998) Nevertheless, I can see vivid colors on the monitor - after the export the colors fade (OK in the end is Color Profile / Adobe RGB (1998)). How do you set in AD so that the colors are displayed in the same way as it is set (Color Profile) in Document Setting during operation?
  9. Hello, I'm an affinity novice. Struggling to work out from tutorials how to colour a specific area of background. Have attached photo example. Want to eliminate busy area in top right hand corner and replace with the grey of the rest of the background. Have managed to select area using brush tool but that is as far as can get! Any tips/advice appreciated!

  12. Affinity Photo Reset individual included Swatches to Default. For example one may want to reset Greys or Colors or Gradients to default after adding those that you no longer need.
  13. Hi I'm moving over to Affinity from Photoshop. One feature of PS [in ACR] is the ability to adjust saturation & luminence separately for each individual colour [red /orange / yellow/ purple etc]. This seems to be missing from Develop persona in Affinity. The only way of approaching it seems to be with Curves [ only for RGB & therefore well near impossible for other tones] or by altering white balance [which is a bit of a blunt instrument]. You can do it to a certain extent with selective colour & HSL in Photo persona, but even here you are only adjusting colour bias, not luminence, & in any case working on the Raw file creates better results. Have I misssed something, please?

  15. I am just starting my own direct to garmwnt printing busines and I am having a problem with affinity designer and acrorip. As you can see from the pictures the colour that affinity and acrorip shows is not the same as the print on the t-shirt. I am working in cmyk 8 with u.s. web coated (swop) v2 colour profile. I have exported as a jpeg because acrorip doesn't like .tiff or off files. I also managed to get the same colour profile on acrorip. Please help.

Hi I Have a question about inheriting settings in pen tool, when Im work with it and choose colour width and finish shape, the next one Im must start again from zero settings, Im tired with it, in other apps last settings pass on to the next new line. Is this possible in AD nad AP? Im working on Win10 with latest release of AD and AP.

  18. Hi, I'm new and I just start discovering Affinity. I like it very much so far !! Now, I try to set the interface the way I like to work and I can't find any shortcut to make appearing a flaotting chromatic wheel... allowed me to select new colour while painting whitout having to move back to the colour window every 10 seccond. Is it possible ? Am I looking at the wrong place ? any alternatives ? Cheers
  19. I'm new to the pratical side of design - having previously worked in positions where I've paid people for graphic design, I now want to be able to do it myself, to a degree. I remember seeing designers use the colour wheel (I think) on Photoshop to find colours which complement the colours in a logo and I'm wondering if Affinity Designer has a similar tool. For example, I have a two colour logo. Can I input the colour refs for these into Designer and have it suggest a palette which will work nicely with them? Thank you in advance.
  20. I wanted a base palette that I could use on my illustrations, with a range of shades, and highlights/shadows for each. So I made my own: It's a good starting point for illustrations, icons & UI work. There's more than 100 swatches, nicely organized. Comes in several formats, of course .afpalette included.   21. Hi, greetings from outer space! I've been using Adobe since 11 years, I'm a graphic designer and illustrator. Affinity Designer is a great product but still needs some work. I have some questions for you. 1. The screens show how the colors look like: A - Screen from Affinity Designer B - Screen from exported PDF C - Screen after printing Colors after printing have changed and my client was a little surprised, me too. The problem is that both colors are grouped and labeled NORMAL. Why do not I see what will be printed? I know if I label a group as PASSTROUGH it will be ok. But you know.. Please reply. My wishlist: Expand stroke Scissors for strokes will be life saver. brush which can do vector / stroke dot Colours changer in document like illustrator have. Hmm or maybe there is some option to see all colours in document? D.

  23. Hi, so I have a PNG file. It is fairly basic, and has a large part of its background and some other text etc. as a single solid colour (A) that I would like to change to a different colour (B). So basically, how do I change everything that is Colour A to Colour B, preferably the easiest and quickest option if there is one! Thanks so much in advance!
  24. Hello, I am a newbie on Affinity Designer and Photo and please forgive me this perhaps stupid question: Why does Affinity Designer displaying the colours wrong on the normal view? See attached example. If I select white RGB(255/255/255) it displays it with RGB(255/252/214) Same happens with for example RGB(153/153/153), which will be displayed as RGB(155/142/124) If I export it as picture (PNG) it will display the correct colours. It looks like I have enabled a filter for the monitor, but I don´t find how to switch it of. The attached picture shoudl explain my problem. Thanks for help, Christian
  25. I opened several Designer Projects from a year ago or so and they didn't open / look how they should. They look oversaturated / bright and the colour is different from the original. The first screen Capture is an eps output of the original showing how the colours should be. The Second Capture is current designer project open with incorrect colours / brightness etc. I tried different colour profiles but didn't work to restore them. This has happened in the past. Why is this happening? Instead of explaining this, let me show you screenshots. Max
