  1. Dear All. I am creating artwork in Publisher which combines text and CMYK images and will be used to produce litho print from. I have (believe I have) created a 'text black' swatch. This is purely 100% K. No other colours. No Cyan, Magenta or Yellow. However, when I export as a pdf and review in Photo. The 'text black' has reverted to a CMYK black. Please help. Andrew PS. Is there a way to see seperations in Publisher?
  2. I'm using a color balance adjustment layer, I toggle the "Preserve Luminosity" checkbox and nothing happens. I attach the same process done in Photoshop with exaggerated settings and the expected outcome. Photoshop: Affinity (Both are exactly the same, the histogram doesn't change one bit)
  3. I have been searching for a while now, but cant find any "select same colour" feature. All I can find is a feature request post from 4 years ago asking for this. Surely this rudimental feature has been implimented by now. Selecting and replacing a colour is one of the main benefits of vector work, to not have this seems crazy to me. I know the dev team is small and your product is so superior to Adobe is so many ways, but missing fundamental features like this makes it unusable for real world projects. I hope I am being a dullard and a select same colour feature is available. If not please add it to the top of the list of features in the next update.
  4. Hi guys, I can't find a field for entering hex colour codes in Publisher. Same problem Affinity Photo and Designer. Someone can help?
  5. Using the colour picker in the "magnified" mode, the RGB values on the document (e.g. fill layer) are different from the same colour in the swatches panel. For example, in a new layer filled with R:242 G:13 B:13 the corresponding colour on the swatches panel is R:220 G:51 B:17. It's the same for every choice. Is the swatches panel able to show the right colour? Thank you
  6. Hi all This has been the week of figuring out how to get my colours sorted in Affinity Photo. There is no direct support for the ColorChecker Passport from X-Rite in Affinity Photo unfortunately but I did figure out how to do it with some help. If you use X-Right ColorChecker Passport these are the steps on how to do it. This might be painfully obvious to some people but for me it was all entirely new and took a while to get my head around so I hope that this is some use to people. 1. When you are shooting your photos in a location take a photo of the ColorChecker Passports colour cards and the white card. Make sure they are in the same place as your subject matter and are properly exposed. 2. Import all the photos from your session along with your pictures of the ColorChecker. 3. Open your photos of the ColorChecker in Affinity Photo crop them down if you like and export them as 16 bit Tiff files. 8 bit might work but I have been going with 16 4. Open ColorChecker Tiff photos with the new beta version of ColorChecker Passport Camera Calibration software in the ICC tab. 5. Export your ICC profiles naming them something so you know what photo shoot they go along with. 6. Close down Affinity Photo and then re-open it to refresh the ICC database 7. Open your photos from the associated photo shoot and go to the Document tab and select Assign ICC Profile and select the ICC file you just created. And if all goes well your colour is mostly corrected. 8. Now to set the white balances correctly. Go to White Balance in the Adjustment section. Click the Picker button and then click on the photo that you took during the photo shoot of your white card. This will then automatically make the adjustment. I hope that helps some folks. I did not understand any of this stuff three days ago and it was no fun trying to get my head around it for the first time. If anyone has tips on how to improve upon this workflow please share. I am by no means an expert on this subject. All the best!
  7. I have two spreads. One has white text inside a text frame and the other has black text inside a text frame. The text is set to flow from one box to another. I select the text frame and set the font to my body white font and body black font (respectively) but whenever I delete something or move something and the text moves from the black frame to the white frame it keeps its colour thus I have black text in the place I want white text. Does this make sense?
  8. Don't know if any one has run into this, but when going back and forth between two canvases I would use the colour picker tool, grab a colour to use, but upon going to my second canvas to use said colour the swatches swaps out to a different colour. Is there a way to stop this from happening so that I can keep the selected colours and swatches as I use them across the different canvases?
  9. I have a simple JPG generated by some software, and I'd like to replace one colour (straight black or white) with another, or make it transparent. So far, any attempt to use the colour replacement brush tool have not given any result, and my search on the forum found its use to be an as yet unanswered question. I was hoping this brush would act as pick-and-replace tool (if pixel is <colour set> then replace with the colour set as front) but evidently I have this wrong. As I have both AD and AP, here are my questions: - which is the best to use? - what is the exact process to replace a specific colour x with a colour y? (layer select, any settings that can mess it up, which brush to choose, how to choose the colour to change and set the colour it will be replaced with). - just in case I come across this later, is there also a way I can control the *range* of colours accepted for replacement (the cat example isn't universally the same orange). I'm clearly missing something simple, but I can't seem to identify what.
  10. Designer 1.8.5.703 on Windows 10 (same fop beta 1.9.0.743). I don’t know if this is by design, or a bug, or just a missed opportunity, so I thought I’d mention it. As you can see in my attached video, when I have multiple shapes with differently-coloured strokes, swapping the stroke colour for the fill colour makes all the shapes the same fill colour. I thought it might be nice to have the stroke colour and fill colour of each shape to be swapped individually. Is this something that other people might want, or is there a good reason why it works this way? 2020-09-22 09-09-18.mp4
  11. Hi, I'd like to set a colour (not the default black) for the workspace background which is different to the document area, but I can't see how to do this. Can anyone help please? Cheers, H.
  12. Hi guys, I'm at a loss. To confirm I run Spyder to colour manage my display and I have read the display calibration spotlight before writing this. However, when I export images from Affinity the colours come out wrong. See the attachement. I have included my export settings.
  13. Can you modify the tint of a global colour? From what I've found you can edit the CMYK / RGB etc. values, but no tint. So if I need to globally change a colour from 95% to 85% tint I have to find every instance of that colour or am I missing something? I've tried so many different ways with opacity and tint, but can't figure it out. Many thanks!
  14. The style, Heading 1 is the right colour (dark red) everywhere else in the whole document, nothing I do will get this particular piece of text to change to the correct colour. Can anyone suggest what might be the problem please? John
  15. Hello, With a custom OCIO config, with 32-bit Linear document in ACEScg color space, with a display management set to OCIO Display Transform and custom display LUT, with several documents open at the same time (all 32-bits ACEScg), we found that the 32-bit display is deactivated when swithing from a document to an other. We have to click on 'Unmanaged' or 'ICC Display Transform' then on 'OCIO Display Transform' to finally see the correct display. Whereas this is not critical, we are always able to bring back the correct display with a few clicks, this is really annoying and perturbing for the artists. This is with Affinity 1.8.3.641 Windows 10. Thanks.
  16. Colours in Character panel in light mode are wrong. See the example below. Both greens are the same, but should look like the one in Swatches panel. 1.8.3.641
  17. Hi, i'm trying to do a logo, and i spent the last two hours to figure out how obtain a orange tie for my podcaster cat without any solution I cannot switch or create more than Black and White vector, this is a screenshot example Please help me! Thanks.
  18. Hello: The stroke colour of the table is different from the thumbnail of the table pannel: Thanks.
  19. In Craft Artist I can put a black digital stamp on a page, then with it selected click on a colour in the colour box (any colour even white), then click the button "Colour with HSL". It then turns my black stamp image into the colour I chose. How do I do that in Affinity? (I've got the full suite)
  20. What are color fonts? They are the next big thing in graphic designThey bring multiple colors, shades, textures and transparency to type They include vector shapes, bitmap images or even both into font filesAnything I write here, would just be copying from this website, http://www.colorfonts.wtf/ Have a read through it, then decide if you want colour fonts. I know, that I want it!
  21. Is there a possibility in levels to control the colour clipping separately by colours? I just see the clipping in master level with pressing ALT while using the sliders. This doesn't work in RGB colours separately - but would be extremely helpful.
  22. hi, guys, i have only been using Affinity Designer for a short time and now i have a problem. Because somehow my white paint is gone. I've tried a few things but nothing works. The color code is fffff but I get a strange light brown color. No matter what I do, I always get this wrong color. If I insert a white picture and go with the pinpette on white, I get this other color again. It seems that white has been replaced with this other color. How can I change that again? 23. Somewhere, I've seen a way to select a colour from another program for use withing Affinity Photo, for example a swatch held on my desktop. Can anyone help with how this can be done?
  24. I've exported a document with a spot colour and selected "honour spot colour" in the export panel, but the swatch does not display in the colour bars in the PDF?
  25. Hi, there is significant colour inconsistency by conversion from RGB to CMYK via the adjustment layer and document setup. The soft proof adjustment layer produces different colours than the same rendering intent through document setup dialog box. See my video. Colours in video are shifted a bit, but the issue is visible. Am I doing something wrong or is there some different renderig on background when using document setup conversion? I'm not sure if the adjustment layer has smaller gamut or the luminosity differs, but CMYK colours after document colour conversion looks for me a bit better. RGB to CMYK.mov
